Abstract
提供了一种用于控制带有摄像机(200)的电子装置供电的恢复的方法和装置。当本发明测到有运动时就使用与诸如计算机系统的电子装置相连的摄像机(200),使电子装置从休眠状态恢复供电。该电子装置也可从关机状态恢复供电。在一个实施例中,摄像机(200)包括处理器(240)和存储器(250),它将摄像机(200)捕获的连续帧相比较。当电子装置处于休眠状态时,如果连续帧是相同的,摄像机(200)则继续监视场景而不产生输出信号。如果帧是不同的,则测出有运动发生,且摄像机产生一个信号用于确定电子装置是否应恢复供电。以此方式,在装置的用户与装置交互之前,电子装置可以开始恢复供电。
Description
本发明涉及视频摄像机,具体讲,涉及根据测出的运动对外部装置开始供电的视频摄像机。
诸如计算机系统之类的电子装置在接收到输入后的一预定时间后进入休眠或其它低能耗状态。体眠模式使装置能保存能量。例如,当键盘、鼠标或计算机的其它输入装置用后5分钟,计算机系统就可将能耗减至全部非必要功能模式下。某些诸如处理器之类的元件就以较低的时钟率运行。其它诸如硬盘之类的元件可以完全断开供电直至装置对其开始使用或发出请求为止。仅有一些诸如易失性存储器之类的元件需照常消耗能量以保持计算机系统的状态。该装置保持在休眠状态直至接收到输入信号以表明该装置开始被用为止。
在已有技术中,通常计算机系统从断电或体眠状态到恢复供电是随着用户与计算机系统的实际上的交互行为来实现的。当用户要使用已断电或处于休眠状态下的计算机时,他就要走到计算机旁按下按键或移动鼠标或光标控制装置以恢复供电。用户必须要等到计算机系统恢复供电后才能使用。因此,有一种在用户与装置交互之前使计算机系统或其它电子装置恢复供电的装置的需求。
已有技术还包括与计算机系统和其它电子系统一起使用的视频摄像机。但与计算机共同使用的视频摄像机仅限于诸如视频会议、视频记录等应用场合。
在此描述了一种能根据变动的场景产生一输出信号的装置。一个存储器存储代表在特定时刻场景的帧,且一个与该存储器相连的处理器将一组帧进行比较,并根据当一组帧之间的差达预定量时产生一输出信号。与该处理器相连的复位电路根据处理器所产生的输出信号恢复对电子装置的供电。

描述了一种带有检测运动的视频摄像机的电子装置的供电恢复的方法和装置。在以下的描述中,为了解释,给出了多个具体细节以便于本发明的理解。但对于本领域的普通技术人员来说可以不用这些细节也可实现发明。为了免于与本发明的混淆,已知的结构和装置都以方块图形式表示出来。
本发明用于接在诸如计算机系统的电子装置上的视频摄像机,以在由视频摄像机测出有运动时使电子装置从休眠模式或低能耗状态恢复供电。电子装置也可从关机状态恢复供电。在一个实施例中,视频摄像机包括一个处理器和将该摄像机所捕获的连续帧进行比较的存储器。当电子装置处于休眠模式时,如果连续帧是相同的,视频摄像机将继续监视该场景而不输出信号。如果这些帧不相同,则测到有运动,摄像机就产生一个信号,例如是一个中断,它信令电子装置恢复供电。以此方式,在用户与该装置交互之前,电子装置可处于恢复供电的处理之中。
本发明对于诸如个人计算机系统非常有用。当在预定时段内没有接收到输入信号时,计算机系统进入休眠模式。当计算机系统处于休眠模式时,与计算机系统相连的视频摄像机就监视其捕获的画面。在一个实施例中,借助摄像机中的存储器,由摄像机中的处理器比较该连续帧,以确定是否测到有运动产生。当测出有运动时,信号就被送到计算机系统以恢复供电。当用户来到计算机旁时,计算机就处于检查口令状态或恢复了供电的状态。还可有另一种实施例,其中摄像机中没有包括处理器。例如,诸如视频扩展卡的视频接口可包括一个用于比较帧用的处理器。另外,系统处理器也可用来比较帧。
当然,与视频摄像机一同使用的装置并不局限于计算机系统,保安系统、信息显示和自动柜员机(ATM)等也可与之共用。在保安系统中,当测到有入侵者的运动时,本发明发出一个信号。保安系统可恢复供电并根据被测到的运动接收来自视频摄像机的视频数据。在信息显示或ATM中,直到一个潜在可能的用户靠近时才恢复供电。当系统测到潜在用户的运动时,信息显示或ATM才恢复供电。
图1是可根据本发明的方式恢复供电的计算机系统的方块图的一个实施例。计算机系统100包括总线101或用于传输信息的其它通信装置,处理器102与总线101耦合以处理信息。计算机系统100还包括RAM或其它动态存储器104(称作主存储器),与总线101耦合以存储将由处理器102执行的信息和指令。主存储器104在处理器102执行指令期间还被用来存储临时变量或其它中间信息。计算机系统100还包括与总线101相连的ROM和/或其它静态存储装置106,以存储处理器102的静态信息和指令。在一个处理器中,处理器102可以是可从加州Santa Clara的Intel公司买到的奔腾II处理器。另外,处理器102可以是不同的Intel公司的处理器或任何其它的处理器。
诸如磁盘或光盘的数据存储器107及相应驱动电路可与总线101相连。计算机系统100还可经总线101与诸如CRT或LCD的显示器121相耦合以向计算机用户显示信息。字母输入装置122(包括字母键和其它键)通常与总线101相连,该总线101将信息和命令选择通到处理器102上。另一种类型的用户输入装置是光标控制器123(例如鼠标、跟踪球或光标方向键)用于将方向信息和命令选择通到处理器102上并用来控制在显示器121上光标的移动。
视频摄像机接口125接到总线101上并在计算机系统100和上述摄像机之间提供接口(图1中未示出)。视频摄像机接口125根据由其测出的运动使计算机系统100恢复供电。在一个实施例中,接口125包括当计算机系统100的其它元件被关掉电源时它都未被关掉电源的电路。接口125还保持被供电以处理来自摄像机的信号。当摄像机向计算机系统100发信号以表示出已测到运动后,接口125就开始恢复供电的处理步骤。通过将电压加到处理器102的电源脚上或以任何其它已知方式加电使供电的恢复得以完成。接口125还可从视频摄像机上接收视频数据。另外,还可提供中断线,借此视频摄像机将运动检测信号通到计算机系统100上。
图2是根据本发明控制电子装置电源恢复的视频摄像机方块图的一个实施例。总的来讲,视频摄像机200包括将通过摄像机200的透镜210所见的场景转换成帧的硬件。处理器240将连续的帧进行比较以检测出运动。根据所测到的运动产生诸如中断的输出信号。
可从透镜210中见到的场景可投在CCD元件220上,它感测光强度和场景的色彩并提供未经加工的图像数据作为输出信号,CCD 220输出电压,它对应代表场景的亮度(Luma)和色度(Chroma)的两维象素阵列。这些电压由与CCD 220相连的转换硬件/固件230以任何已知的方法转换成帧。处理器240从转换硬件/固件230上接收帧并将其存在与处理器240相连的存储器250中。
在一个实施例中,这些帧是以YUV-9格式存储的。而其他YUV-12格式或任何其它视频格式均可使用。在一个实施例中,仅有与亮度对应的视频数据分量即Luma或Y才能被用来确定运动。在这样一个实施例中,与色彩对应的色度分量U或V并不能用来确定运动。
在这样一个实施例中,可用帧的平均密度来用作比较之用。如果连续帧的平均亮度差达一预定数量,则测出有运动。另外,帧的不同区域的亮度可被用来确定每帧色度值的加权平均。当后续帧的加权平均之差达预定量时,则测出有运动发生。在一个实施例中,用于确定运动的差值在装置进入休眠模式之前由该电子装置的用户来设定。
在一个实施例中,处理器240接收帧的速率根据电子装置的状态而改变。如果电子装置处于休眠模式或关机,处理器就以比电子装置被恢复供电时的速率低的速率来接收这些帧。例如,处理器在电子装置恢复供电时以每秒30帧的速率接收帧,而在电子装置未恢复供电时则以每秒5帧的速率接收帧。当然其他的帧速率也可采用。通过减少帧速率进而是比较的速率,使处理器240的功耗比以较高帧速率工作时消耗得更少。
恢复供电线260与复位电路265相连,以在摄像机200测到运动时,将输出信号(如中断)通到处理器上。根据输出信号,处理器开始恢复对电子装置的供电。当电子装置被恢复供电时,来自摄像机200的视频信号可由帧线262通到电子装置上。另外,恢复供电线260可与摄像机接口125相连。在此实施例中,接口125包括复位电路265(图2未示出)。
在一个实施例中,当计算机系统100被恢复供电时,摄像机200中的处理器240和存储器250用于视频压缩或其它视频处理,当电子装置进入休眠模式时,处理器240和存储器250从视频压缩或其它处理模式切换到帧比较模式。在一个实施例中,当电子装置处于休眠模式时,不产生在装置被恢复供电时经帧线262产生和通入的视频输出。当比较的帧间差值达预定量时,摄像机200仅在供电恢复线260上产生输出信号。当视频摄像机200确定后续的帧不相同时,一个恢复供电的中断就通到电子装置上以表示测到了运动。电子装置响应于通过恢复供电而由摄像机200所产生的中断。
图3是用于控制带有摄像机的电子装置恢复供电的流程图的一个实施例。在步骤300,摄像机捕获一个场景。在步骤310使该场景被编码并成帧。编码和成帧是以任何已知方式实现的。当连有摄像机的电子装置未被恢复供电时,如上所述,摄像机的帧速率可减小。
在步骤320,帧被存在存储器中。在步骤330,将存储器中所存的帧与存储器中先前所存的帧相比较。在步骤340,摄像机确定与之相比较的帧是否相同。如果这些帧不相同,摄像机返回步骤300,以继续捕获场景、将场景转换成帧并比较这些帧。
在步骤340,如果所比较的帧不相同,则在步骤350摄像机产生一个输出信号。该输出信号被用来确定电子装置是否应恢复供电。以此方法,摄像机控制电子装置是否恢复供电。
图4是根据本发明的用来控制电子装置恢复供电的摄像机和计算机系统的第一个变型的实施例。图4的实施例除了处理是在摄像机接口中发生而不是摄像机中之外与图2的实施例相同,这使得其摄像机比图2实施例中的要廉价。
在图4的实施例中,摄像机400一般包括用于将景象聚焦在CCD 420上的透镜410。转换器430接收来自CCD 420的输出信号以将CCD 420输出的数据进行编码,和成帧处理。转换器430的输出经帧线435与处理器440相通。处理器440利用存储器450如上所述处理从转换器430输出的帧以确定是否测到有运动。
当测到运动时,处理器440给复位电路460产生一个中断或其它输出信号。复位电路460根据从处理器440上接收的中断将相关的计算机系统或其它电子装置(图4中未示出)复位。另外,摄像机接口125产生一个中断,直接通到系统处理器的中断控制器上(图4未示出)。
由于摄像机中不包括处理器或存储器,图4实施例中的摄像机比图2实施例中所用的摄像机要廉价。在此实施例中,当相关的计算机系统或其它电子装置(图4中未示出)被断电时,摄像机接口125并不断电。当电子装置断电时,为了减少功耗,处理器440可以以比处理摄像机400提供的帧低的速率处理这些帧。另外,当电子装置被断电后,摄像机400可减少输出帧速率。
图5是本发明的第二个变型实施例。图5的实施例提供在外部摄像机和系统处理器之间的连接。另外,摄像机可与系统或其它总线相连以与系统处理器通信。
在一个实施例中,摄像机500包括类似于上文讨论过的透镜410、CCD 420和转换器430的透镜510、CCD 520和转换器530。转换器530的输出经帧线540与处理器102相连。另外,转换器530可与总线100直接耦合或经线540与接口相连。
图5的实施例可提供一个比图2和图4的实施例还廉价的系统。当然,处理器102除了视频处理之外还提供足够的处理功能以提供可接受的特性表现。
在一个实施例中,当电子装置断电后,处理器102以比电子系统恢复供电时耗能少的一个速率处理来自摄像机500的帧。这一点可通过诸如减少处理器的时钟速率来完成。
在前述说明书中,已参考了具体实施例描述了本发明。但应看到可作出各种修改和变更而不脱离本发明的精神范围。因此,说明书和附图是用作说明用途而非用于对本发明进行限制。
Claims (8)
1.一种系统,包括:
一个计算机,该计算机响应计算机的非活动状态的一个预定周期从活动模式转换到非活动模式;以及
一个与所述计算机连接的运动检测设备,该运动检测设备在所述计算机处于非活动模式时检测所述计算机最新近的运动,该运动检测设备包括:
一个存储器,当计算机处于非活动模式时存储对应于一个或多个代表在不同时刻最新近计算机的区域的场景的帧的加权平均亮度;以及
一个与所述存储器连接的处理器,当计算机处于非活动模式时,将所述场景的两帧的加权平均亮度值彼此相比较来确定是否有最新近的计算机的运动并且响应所检测到的最新近的计算机的运动使所述计算机退出非活动模式。
2.根据权利要求1的系统,还包括与所述处理器连接的用于给所述计算机供电使之退出非活动模式的复位电路。
3.根据权利要求1的系统,其中当计算机处于非活动模式时处理器以第一帧速率接收帧,而当计算机处于活动模式时处理器以第二帧速率接收帧。
4.根据权利要求1的系统,其中所述处理器响应最新近的计算机的运动使计算机退出非活动模式包括处理器根据相差一预定量的两帧的加权平均亮度来使计算机退出非活动模式。
5.根据权利要求1的系统,其中所述运动检测设备是一个视频摄像机。
6.一种方法,包括:
响应计算机非活动状态的一个预定周期使计算机从活动模式转换到非活动模式;
当计算机处于非活动模式时,从与计算机连接的运动检测设备接收与在第一时刻最新近计算机的场景对应的第一帧;
确定第一帧的加权平均亮度;
当计算机处于非活动模式时,从运动检测设备接收与在第二时刻最新近计算机的场景对应的第二帧;
确定第二帧的加权平均亮度;
通过确定是否第一帧的加权平均亮度与第二帧的加权平均亮度相差一预定量来确定当计算机处于非活动模式时是否有最新近的计算机的运动;并且
如果确定有最新近的计算机的运动,则使计算机退出非活动模式。
7.根据权利要求6的方法,其中确定加权平均亮度是由所述运动检测设备内的处理器来执行的。
8.根据权利要求6的方法,其中当计算机处于活动模式时以第一帧速率接收帧,而当计算机处于非活动模式时以第二帧速率接收帧。
