发明内容

具体实施方式
按照本发明的这一最佳的实施例的电视系统包括电子节目引导(EPG)和磁带索引引导。其中EPG是提供一个或几个节目表的屏幕的那一类EPG。这些表可以包括当前正在电视广播的节目和将要广播的节目。这些节目表在不同的引导屏幕上以类别和时间分类。EPG包括用于显示当前电视广播节目的画中画(PIP)窗口。观众可以在一个引导中通过使光标经过当前电视广播节目表来改变在PIP窗口中显示的节目。

在遥控器26上的“引导/电视”按钮控制引导开关20和PIP芯片23，并被用于在电视方式和引导方式之间转换。当观众按下“引导/电视”按钮28时，PIP芯片23接通，引导开关20使EPG装置18或TIS装置22和PIP芯片23相连。电视机28分别显示EPG或磁带索引引导。

在另一个最佳实施例中，在VCR中播放的磁带利用控制和目录信息被编码，图7所示的磁带索引引导屏幕被显示。在表区域58中显示装入在VCR16中的磁带上的节目目录或节目段。在PIP窗口中显示的节目表由光标60加亮，并在区域56内显示节目说明。最好是，当观众把光标60移向另一个表时，TIS装置22使用存储在磁带上的控制信息和目录信息用以启动节目检索，从而确定被加亮的节目的位置并使加亮的节目依次排队，从而使新选择的录像节目在PIP窗口50内显示。
由于VCR机械结构上的限制，在视频磁带上定位选择的节目可能需要一分钟或更长的时间。因而，需要由VCR延迟这种节目检索直到责成观众在磁带上检索录像节目为止。这在下述的其它实施例中被实现：在一个实施例中，节目检索被显示直到在一个设置的时间间隔例如5秒钟用光标60加亮在表区域58中的节目表为止。在另一个实施例中，观众借助于把光标60定位在所需的节目上启动检索，然后按下遥控器上的一系列按钮从而命令TIS装置22。
按照本发明的另一个实施例，一旦选择的节目，例如在图7中的“When You Wish Upon A Star”被播放完毕，磁带索引和检索装置22可以控制VCR自动停止，或者重绕磁带并重复播放所选的节目，或者继续播放磁带，使得下一个节目即“Belle”被显示。观众可以按下“停止”按钮35使节目停止。
最好是，如果装入在VCR中的磁带不用控制信息和目录信息编码，则显示图4的屏幕。在表区域58内显示供操作装置22所需的菜单，并在区域56内显示提示信息。观众输入一个数字用以识别要完成的功能。观众的目的是要识别录像有要播放的节目的视频磁带。如果观众试图利用视频磁带号找到节目，则他输入号“1”，并通过电视机24显示图5所示的屏幕。如果观众试图通过标题找到节目，则他输入号“2”，并通过电视机24显示图6所示的屏幕。当装入在VCR中的合适的磁带被读取后，则显示图7所示的屏幕。如果利用标题检索节目(图6)，则选择的节目由光标60加亮直到进入图7的屏幕。如果利用磁带号检索节目，则存储在磁带开头的节目在表区域58中利用光标60被加亮。在图7的屏幕中，当观众按下“播放”按钮32时，TIS装置22启动节目检索。如上所述，TIS装置22控制VCR16，以便利用光标60在磁带上定位所选的节目，播放磁带并在PIP窗口50内显示所选的节目。在另一个实施例中，当装入合适的磁带时，TIS装置22自动地启动所选节目的节目检索。
而在引导方式中，“索引”按钮30控制开关20。这样，观众可以从例如图3所示的EPG屏幕转换到例如图4所示的磁带索引屏幕，并且反之亦然，如图11A和11B所示。因为只有开关20被“索引”按钮30控制，按照本实施例，当背景52在EPG和磁带索引引导之间转换时，在PIP窗口50中正在显示的节目不变。最好在电视方式下“索引”30是不能操作的。
“播放”按钮32在电视方式下或引导方式下控制节目源开关14，从而在调谐器12和VCR16之间转换。这样，观众处于引导方式时可以在PIP窗口50中在由VCR16输出的节目和由调谐器12输出的节目之间转换。此外，如果磁带被装入在VCR16中但未被播放，当把节目源开关14从调谐器12转换到VCR16时，按下“播放”按钮32将使VCR开始播放磁带。最好是包括由调谐器调谐的节目表的加亮的区域62被包括在磁带索引引导屏幕的区域52中。这使得观众在处于磁带索引方式时能够识别在PIP窗口50中显示的当前电视广播的节目。
最好是，如果观众从EPG进入磁带索引引导方式并且在VCR16中没有装入视频磁带，电视机24则显示图4的屏幕，同时在PIP窗口50中显示从调谐器输出的节目(例如ABC频道7)。观众从图4的屏幕导航到图7的屏幕，如上所述。由光标60加亮的在表区域58中的录像节目的说明在区域56中显示。这样，观众可以通过利用箭头键36和38移动光标60来浏览在区域56内的录像节目的说明，同时继续观看在PIP窗口50中的当前电视广播的节目。在观众识别并在VCR16内装入录像有所需节目的视频磁带之后，则显示图7的屏幕。如果观众预先知道磁带，可以在按下“索引”按钮30之前跳过图4到图6的屏幕把磁带装入VCR16中。
观众可以使用“引导/电视”按钮28从EPG或者磁带索引引导退出引导方式。当在引导方式时用户按下“引导/电视”按钮时，PIP芯片23被断开。这样，节目源开关14接通的节目源，即调谐器12或VCR16将直接和电视机相连，因而将全屏地显示从那个节目源输出的节目，如图12A和12B所示。
在所说明的所有方式中，由电视机24的扬声器重放在PIP窗口50显示的视频节目的伴音。
按照本发明的另一个不同的实施例，所述装置可以被设计成在电视方式下显示PIP窗口60，借以使观众能够同时观看由VCR16输出的录像节目和由调谐器12输出的当前电视广播的节目。如图8所示，VCR 16和调谐器12两者都和开关20’相连，开关20’在从TIS装置22、EPG装置18、VCR16、和调谐器12输入的视频信号之间转换。按照本实施例，在遥控器26上(图2)提供有PIP按钮62，开关20’被对开关14的状态敏感的微处理器(未示出)控制。在电视方式下，当观众按下PIP按钮63时，PIP芯片被接通，操纵者控制器节目源开关14和开关20’，从而转换到调谐器或VCR的输出，使得在背景52中显示当前正在全屏显示的最后的节目，并且在PIP窗口60中显示来自另一个部件的(VCR16或调谐器12)节目，如图13A和13B所示。如果当PIP按钮63被按下时，调谐器被选择并且没有节目从VCR输出，则微处理器最好不接通PIP电路23而根据VCR的状态显示一个提示，表明在VCR中没有装入磁带或VCR没有播放。最好是，当装置处于引导方式时PIP按钮63是不能操作的。
虽然这里已经说明了本发明的一些最佳实施例，但是显然本领域的技术人员可以作出各种改进和改型。因此，应该理解，本发明的范围只能由所附的权利要求来限制。

Claims (16)

1.一种用于将录像的节目索引和电子节目引导相结合的方法，包括下列步骤：
产生录像在存储介质上的多个节目的目录，所述目录包括所述录像的节目的标题和所述录像的节目的位置；
产生来自多个信息提供者的多个广播节目的目录，该目录包括所述广播节目的标题和所述广播节目的频道；
在电子节目引导中提供对所述录像的节目的目录和所述广播的节目的目录的访问；
根据用户的选择交替地在电子节目引导中显示所述录像的节目的目录或所述广播的节目的目录；
检索与显示的目录中的一个节目标题相关联的节目；以及
在电子节目引导的一部分中显示检索的节目；
把电视调谐器调谐到接收所需节目的频道并用所需的节目代替检索的节目。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法，其中所述检索步骤包括从存储介质中和上述与一个节目标题相关联的节目相对应的位置检索上述与一个节目标题相关联的节目。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法，其中检索步骤包括把电视机调谐器调谐到所述与一个节目标题相关联的节目正在被广播的频道。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法，其中在电子节目引导的一部分中显示检索节目的步骤在PIP窗口内显示检索的节目。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法，其中产生步骤产生在盒式录像磁带上录像的节目的目录。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法，还包括以全屏的形式在屏幕上显示检索的节目的步骤。
7.一种用于选择要由VCR播放的节目或由电视机调谐器接收的节目的装置，包括：
具有屏幕的电视机监视器；
视频信号混合器，其具有第一输入端，用于接收要在屏幕的第一区域内显示的信号，和第二输入端，用于接收要在屏幕的第二区域内显示的信号；
用于装入盒式录像磁带的VCR；
电视机调谐器；
第一开关，用于使VCR以及调谐器交替地和视频混合器的第一输入端相连；
用于电视节目广播的电子节目引导(EPG)数据的第一源；
用于由VCR接收的盒式录像磁带的磁带目录数据的第二源；以及
第二开关，用于使第一源以及第二源交替地和视频信号混合器相连，以便在第一区域显示在盒式录像磁带上录像的节目或电视广播节目，并在第二区域显示EPG数据或磁带目录数据。
8.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中视频混合器是PIP芯片。
9.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第一源包括电视广播节目标题数据。
10.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第一源包括电视广播节目频道指定数据。
11.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第一源包括电视广播节目开始时间数据。
12.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第一源包括电视广播节目说明数据。
13.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第二源包括录像的节目标题数据。
14.如权利要求13所述的装置，还包括用于标识在第二区域中的多个标题之一并在第一区域内显示和标识的标题相应的节目的装置。
15.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第二源包括录像的节目长度数据。
16.如权利要求7所述的装置，其中第二源包括录像的节目说明数据。
