背景技术
个人数字助理,例如是公知的商标为Palm Pilot的类型,通常是手持的便携电子设备,具有一个向下折叠的显示屏和一个控制面板。该显示屏通常是触屏式,对控制像素笔的用户的触摸作出响应。可以选择通过键盘或者内置的光标球把用户输入提供给该个人数字助理。
个人数字助理给用户提供便利,使用户能够把日记,地址本,会议日程等以一种简洁的,便携的方式存储,并使其能够随时增加新的输入例如会议记录,新地址等等。
然而,在需要打印出任何存储的信息的情况下,这些现有技术的便携式个人数字助理的大多数优点则会丧失。为打印信息,必须将现有技术的数字助理连接到与该数字助理兼容的打印设备,这样就需要携带附加的线缆,于是降低了该数字助理的便携性。或者必需将该数字助理中存储图像的数字存储媒介传送到另一台具有用于读取该存储媒介的兼容软件并连接到一台打印机的计算机。上面每项选择仅在这些其他的计算设备已经准备好的情况下才能够被实施。现有技术的个人数字处理这样就达到了它们最大的潜力,即用作一个存储以及传输信息的功能性媒介。随着移动通信技术的发展,潜在地允许通过个人数字助理来进行电子商务,于是个人数字助理具有更适合的打印存储在该数字助理中的信息的硬拷贝的能力就变得必要了。
然而,当前,打印机技术还不适合于不经过这些设备的尺寸和便携性的重大折衷就被集成到个人数字助理中。
发明内容
本发明的一个目标是克服或改善上述缺点中的至少一个。
本发明的另一个目标是提供一种具有内置打印机的个人数字助理。
本发明的再一个目标是提供一种具有内置打印机的个人数字助理而不明显地增加现有技术数字助理的尺寸。
本发明的再一个目标是提供一种个人数字助理,可在不需要将该数字助理连接到另外的计算或打印设备的情况下,通过该个人数字助理打印存储的信息。
这里公开了一种手持个人数字助理,包括信息存储装置,显示装置,内置打印机装置,控制装置其允许用户有选择地从上述存储装置检索信息并将该信息显示在上述显示装置上,并且使用上述打印机装置打印上述信息,以及允许用户将新信息输入并存储在上述信息存储装置中的装置。
优选地,该个人数字助理包括通过一个铰接部件连接到上述显示装置的主体部分,上述主体部分包容上述信息存储装置以及上述控制设备,其中上述打印机装置的至少一部分置于上述铰接部件内。

具体实施方式
在附图的图1到10中,参考数字500通常代表如本发明所述的打印引擎。打印引擎500包括一个打印引擎组件502,其上可安装一个可更换的打印辊盒504。
在我们的共同未决申请PCT/AU00/00741以及PCT/AU00/00742中对此打印盒504进行了更加详细的说明,通过引用将其公开内容合并在本文中。
打印引擎组件502包括第一子组件506以及第二打印头子组件508。
该子组件506包括一个机架510。该机架510包括第一模制件512,其中模制有供墨沟道514。该供墨沟道514从打印盒504向打印头子组件508的一个打印头516(图5到图7)供墨。该打印头516采用四种颜色或者三种颜色以及墨水而进行打印,该墨水只有在红外光谱中可见(以下称为“红外墨水”)。因此,在模制件512内设置了四个供墨沟道514以及一个供气沟道518。该供气沟道518向打印头516供应空气以防止在打印头516的喷嘴防护上累积外物颗粒。
该机架510还包括一个盖模制件(cover molding)520。在该盖模制件520支持其上的泵522。该泵522是一个抽气泵(suction pump),该抽气泵通过进气插管524和进气孔526通过打印盒504内的空气过滤器抽取空气。通过出气孔528将空气排出进入到机架510的供气沟道518。
机架510上还安装一个采用步进马达530形式的第一驱动马达。该步进马达530通过第一传动机构(gear train)532驱动泵522。该步进马达530通过第二传动机构538也与该打印盒504的辊组件536的驱动辊534(图5)连接。该传动机构538与安装在驱动辊534一端的一个可啮合元件540(图2)衔接。这样,步进马达530控制向子组件508的打印头516馈送打印介质542,以实现当打印介质542在打印头516下面经过时将一幅图像打印在其上。同样需要注意的是:当步进马达530仅工作用于推进打印介质542时,泵522仅工作用于当打印介质542上发生打印时对打印头516吹气。
机架510的模制件512上也支持有多个插管544形式的供墨导管,该插管544与供墨沟道514相连通。该供墨插管544穿过打印盒504的一弹性材料套圈部件546而插入打印墨盒,以从打印盒504的墨腔或者储墨器548(图5)中抽取墨水以供应到打印头516。
第二马达550,是一种直流(DC)马达,通过多个夹片552而安装在机架510的盖模制件520上。设置马达550以驱动形式为一个切割器臂状组件554的一个分离装置,以便在打印介质542的一段上已打印图像之后,将该段打印介质542与剩余的打印介质分开。马达550在其输出轴上装有一个锥齿轮556。该锥齿轮556与一个安装在切割器组件554的蜗轮560上的一个锥齿轮558啮合。蜗轮560经由打印头组件508的机架底盘564内的轴承562被可旋转地支撑。
切割器组件554包括一个切割轮566,该轮被支持于一个安装块570上的一个可伸缩的弹性臂568上。蜗轮560通过安装块570的方式是:当蜗轮560旋转时,安装块570和切割轮566横向穿越机架底盘564。安装块570紧靠底盘564的凸缘572以防止安装块570相对蜗轮560的旋转。另外,为实现对打印介质542的切割,将切割轮566紧靠在打印头子组件508的上部机架或者盖部574。此盖部574是一个金属部分。这样,当切割轮566横向穿过该压盖部分574时,对打印介质进行一种类似剪刀切割的动作,以分离其上已打印有图像的打印介质542部分。
子组件506包括一个弹射机构576。该弹射机构576安装在机架510上,并且具有一个配有扣件(clip)580的挡圈(collar)578,该钢轨扣件将弹射装置576夹扣并固定在机架510上。在挡圈578中安装有一个弹性材料的插件582。该弹性材料插件582设有多个开孔584。开孔584封住了插管544的进气孔,以阻止外物颗粒侵入到插管544,并且同样阻止外物颗粒进入到沟道514和打印头516。此外,为达到上述相同目的,插件584设有一个凸区或者平台586,其封阻进气插管524的进气孔。
在机架510和挡圈578之间设置卷簧588,以便在从打印引擎500上拆卸墨盒504时推动挡圈578使其到与机架510间隔的位置,具体如附图中图3所示。附图的图4所示为处于收回位置的弹射器机构576。
如上所述打印头子组件508包括底盘564。将一个压盖机构590可移位地安装在底盘564上,以便可移位地朝向和背离打印头516。压盖机构590包括设置在载体593之上的加长凸缘(rib)592。载体593由一个移位机构594支持,当打印头516不工作时该移位机构将凸缘592移动到打印头516邻近。反之,当打印头516工作时,移位装置594可操作以将凸缘592从打印头516的邻近位置拉回。
子组件打印头子组件508包括一个打印头支持模制件596,其上安装打印头516。模制件596,同装配在模制件596内的插件599共同确定一个通道598,当要将一个图像打印在打印介质之上时,打印介质542经该通道而传送。在托模596之中限定凹槽700,当压盖机构590处于加盖位置时,压盖机构590经过该凹槽而探出。
由压盖部分574之下的插件599支持一个进墨装置702。进墨装置702包括一个脊部分704和一个安装在隆起部分704上的外壳706。在脊部分704和外壳706之间限定有进墨沟道708,该进墨沟道708与机架510内的供墨沟道514相连通,用于通过通道710(图7)而向打印头516送墨水。
在脊部分704内与打印头516并行设置了供气沟道711(图8)。
通过TAB膜712将电信号提供到打印头516,该TAB膜被紧密束缚在插件599和进墨装置702之间。
模制件596包括一个具有一定角度的翼部714。将一个挠性的印刷电路板(PCB)716安装并固定在翼部714之上。通过插件599的凸缘(rib)718推动该挠性PCB716与TAB膜712相接合而使该挠性PCB716与TAB膜712电接触。在该挠性PCB716上安装汇流条720。该汇流条720对打印头516和其他打印引擎500的动力元件供电。此外,将一个照相打印引擎控制芯片721和一个QA芯片(图中未示)一同安装在该挠性PCB716上,该QA芯片鉴别打印盒504与打印引擎500是否兼容一致。为实现此目的,该PCB716包括多个触点723,所述触点723与打印盒504中的多个接触点725接合。
如附图的图7中所给予的更加明确的图解,打印头自身包括一个喷嘴防护722,装配在硅晶片724之上。通过供墨元件726将墨水供应到打印头516的喷嘴阵列(未示)。供墨元件726与进墨装置702的通道710的出口相通,用于根据需要向打印头516的喷嘴阵列进墨。
在图10中,对用于向打印头516供气的供气通路给予细致的显示。如图所示,泵522包括一个叶轮728,由一个端盖730将其封闭。机架的盖模制件520形成叶轮728的容器732。盖模制件520具有进气孔734和出气孔736。进气孔734与插管524相通。出气孔736向供气沟道518送气,在图10中,以黑实线表示供气沟道518。将由供气沟道518所进送的空气吹送进打印头516,以实现对打印头的清理。通过泵522而抽入的空气由容纳在打印盒504中的空气过滤器738过滤。空气过滤器738具有一个过滤件740,该过滤件可以是由纸制作的或者由其他某种适于过滤的介质来制作。该过滤件740容纳在一个罐中,该罐具有一个底742以及一个盖744。在盖744中具有一个开孔746。开孔746被膜片748封闭,插管524穿过该膜片748。将空气过滤器738设置在打印盒504内的优点在于:当更换打印盒504时空气过滤器738也被更换。
本发明的一个优点在于:由步进马达530对空气泵522进行驱动,该步进马达也控制向打印头516进送打印介质。采用这种配置,使打印引擎所需的元件数目更少,因此使其更加小巧。此外,由于采用同一马达530来操作空气泵522并向打印头516进送打印介质542,因此打印引擎500包括了更少的耗电元件,使其更加小巧并且使其制作成本更低。
还需注意的是:为使打印引擎500更加简洁,对打印引擎组件502的尺寸进行设置,使组件502的大多数元件被接收于打印盒504一端的覆盖区。
如图11所示为一个配有内部打印机的个人数字助理。该数字助理901包括一个主体部分902,容纳包括一个数字存储媒介的个人助理的主电路系统。显示屏幕904,可绕绞式接合件905枢转地连接到主体部分902。屏幕904在闭合位置(图12)和打开位置(图11)间枢转,在闭合位置时屏幕位于主体部分902附近,因此允许安全传输,而在打开位置时屏幕904对用户是可见的。
主体部分902包括一个位于其上表面的控制面板906,该控制面板906包括对包括有打印机功能的该数字助理的功能进行操作所需要的所有按键。利用该控制面板,用户能够选择性地观看存储的任何信息并执行任何新的输入和修改。该控制面板也包括了允许用户选择性地打印任何存储的信息的键子。位于主体前端的一个槽口910用于弹出已打印的媒介911。
该显示屏幕是已知的触屏类型,它允许用户使用一个兼容的像素笔(没有示出)在显示的菜单中选择项目而控制该数字助理。另外该数字助理可以包括已知类型的识别软件,它允许用户通过在屏幕上书写来输入信息,然后对用户的输入进行分析并将它转换为文本。
在图14中以框图的形式对配有内部打印机的个人数字助理的主要内部组件进行了说明。打印机通常采用一种单片打印头814,该打印头与参考图1到10所述的打印头相同,但是也可以选择另外一种小型打印头,该打印头能够实现在适当尺寸的打印介质上进行打印。将个人数字助理的存储器909或显示屏幕转储904中的打印数据传送到控制打印头814的打印引擎控制器813。
一个与打印引擎控制器相连的微控制器807控制马达驱动器809,该马达驱动器809顺序驱动介质传输装置810。该马达驱动器可以与前述的步进马达530相同。
微控制器807也控制一个马达驱动器811,该马达驱动器顺序地控制一个切纸器马达812,以便在打印图像后从内置打印介质卷中切割一段已被打印的纸段。采用911表示图11所示的由介质传输装置810所传送的一段纸。该切纸器可以采用前面所述的切割轮566的形式。
当准备就绪时,可以按下控制面板上的打印机控制按键,以启动打印引擎控制器对从存储器中存储的信息或者从显示屏幕转储的画面进行打印。这样将依次启动微控制器807以启动介质传送810和切纸器812。
图12所示为处于闭合位置的个人数字助理的内部视图。如上所述的打印引擎500置于主体部分902内,并且该打印介质盒504置于铰接部件905中,该铰接部件将该主体部分902与该显示屏幕904链接起来。从该打印引擎的打印介质通道548弹出的打印介质基本上沿着该主体部分902的底部面板的内表面移动,并且在弹出器槽口910处退出该数字助理。由于该打印滚轴504是安置在该铰接部件905之内,本发明的个人数字助理可以制作为基本与现有技术的个人数字助理具有相同的尺寸。
主体部分902和铰链905包括一个可释放部分912,通过枢纽913将其可枢转地被连接,并通过一个固件(catch)914使其在闭合位置固定。打开该部分(图13)允许含墨打印辊盒504被拆卸和更换。对可拆卸打印辊盒的更多细致说明参见前述我们的共同未决的申请PCT/AU00/00741。
在对本发明的具体实施例给予说明之后,熟悉本领域的技术人员将明确:在不违反本发明的本质特征的情况下也可以将本发明以其他具体方式体现。因此在各个方面应将本发明的实施例和实例理解为说明性的而不是限制性的,本发明的范围应该由所附的权利要求来限定,而不是由前述说明来限定,因此,将不超出权利要求的涵义和其等效范围之内的任何改变都包括在本发明的范围之中。此外还应明确:任何本文中有关现有技术的引用,除非出现相反指示,并不是承认:该技术对于本发明所涉及的领域的技术人员是公知的。
Claims (7)
1.一种手持个人数字助理,包括:
信息存储设备;
显示器;
打印机,包括一个页宽打印头,其中上述打印头是喷墨打印头;以及
用户接口,其包括控制装置,允许用户:
有选择地从上述信息存储设备搜索信息并将该信息显示在所述显示器上;
使用上述打印机打印上述信息;以及
允许用户将新信息输入并存储在上述信息存储设备中的装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的个人数字助理,其中上述打印机包括置于上述个人数字助理中的打印介质提供装置。
3.如权利要求1所述的个人数字助理,其特征在于包括通过铰接部件连接到上述显示器的主体部分,该主体部分容纳上述信息存储设备以及上述用户接口的至少一部分,其中上述打印机的至少一部分置于上述铰接部件中。
4.如权利要求3所述的个人数字助理,其特征在于包括置于上述铰接部件中的打印介质提供部分。
5.如权利要求4所述的个人数字助理,其特征在于包括可以打开的盖部分,通过该盖部分,上述打印机的一部分包括上述打印介质和/或墨盒可以被拆卸。
6.如权利要求3所述的个人数字助理,其中上述打印机包括单片页宽打印头。
7.如权利要求1所述的个人数字助理,其中上述用户接口包括与该显示器集成的触屏。
