Abstract

Description

制造和销售便携式通信装置,例如便携式无线电话,已经成为一个有竞争性的行业。为了成功,便携式通信装置的提供者必须进行持续的努力,以不仅仅是满足用户的需求,而且要超过用户的需求。在这样做的过程中,便携式通信装置的提供者已经改善了其便携式通信装置的用户接口。一个改善用户接口的方法是在用户接口中增加一个触摸式传感输入装置,例如一个触摸屏幕或者触摸键盘。触摸式传感输入装置的刺激允许一个用户经过指头的触摸或者手写来控制一个便携式通信装置的操作。一类熟知的、已经包括一个触摸式传感输入装置的便携式通信装置是一个“灵巧电话”。灵巧电话是一个单个便携式电话,其中集成了无线电话的功能和个人计算机(PC)或者个人数字助理(PDA)的功能。在美国专利号No.5,715,524,Jambheker等在1998年2月3日申请的、题为“带可移动机壳部件控制的无线通信装置”中已经显示和描述了一个灵巧电话的一个示例,这个专利已经被转让给本申请的受让人摩托罗拉公司。

处理部分208控制灵巧电话100执行PC或者PDA功能,例如编辑一个记事本,和无线电话功能,例如进行无线电话呼叫或者发送和接收短消息或者寻呼。为了执行这些功能,处理部分208包括一个或者多个互连的处理装置,例如数字信号处理器和微处理器;和可以被处理装置访问的存储器装置,例如闪存,只读存储器和随机访问存储器。PC或者PDA功能一般由显示器114和处理部分208执行。处理部分208经过连接226向LCD驱动器电路216发送信号来驱动LCD130,以使用一个形式,例如一个图象按钮阵列或者一个空白写字板,来显示可见信息,以提示用户进行输入,优选是用户采用手指触摸的形式或者通过用户操作的一个指示笔。触摸屏幕驱动器电路214经过连接229向处理部分208提供一个信号TS_INPUT,以对触摸屏幕128的表面进行的触摸,优选是用户的手指或者通过被一个用户操作的一个笔来进行的触摸作出响应。对来自触摸屏幕驱动器电路214的信号作出响应,处理部分208进一步经过连接226向LCD驱动器电路216发送信号,来驱动LCD130,以使用图形的形式来复制或者跟踪用户对触摸屏幕128表面的触摸,例如通过高亮显示按钮或者显示手写。
无线电话功能一般需要灵巧电话100建立和维持与一个远程装置的通信,例如与一个蜂窝基站的通信。被这个远程装置所发送的RF信号经过天线124在RF收发器部分206处被接收。在处理部分208的控制下,RF收发器部分206通过下转换和解调来将RF信号转换成接收信号。接收信号经过连接224被耦合到处理部分,在处理部分208中,接收信号被解码和被处理以输出给用户。处理部分208经过连接225来驱动扬声器202,以产生从接收信号中恢复出来的语音信息推断而来的可听语音。处理部分208经过连接226向LCD驱动器电路216来驱动LCD130,以显示从接收信号中恢复出来的控制信息推断出来的可视信息。
从灵巧电话110向远程装置发送的RF信号被如下显示。键盘电路212经过连接217向处理部分208提供信号,以对图1中键盘116的激发作出响应。麦克风204经过连接228向处理部分208提供被换能的可听语音信号。触摸屏幕驱动器电路214经过连接229向处理部分208提供信号TS_INPUT,以对激发触摸屏幕128作出响应。处理部分208处理和编码经过连接227-229而接收的信号,并将其变为发送信号。发送信号经过连接224被耦合到RF收发器部分206。在处理部分208的控制下,RF收发器部分206通过调制和放大来将发送信号转换为RF信号,并且将RF信号耦合到天线124进行发射。

Claims (10)
1、一个便携式通信装置,包括:
一个处理部分,用于对一个输入信号作出响应,控制便携式通信装置的操作;
一个用户接口,包括连接到所述处理部分的一个触摸式传感输入装置,,所述触摸式传感输入装置可以被激发来产生输入信号;和
一个连接到用户接口的传感器,当便携式通信装置被放置到靠近一个用户的位置时,传感器可以关闭到处理部分的输入信号的通信,由此,防止无意识引起的对触摸式传感输入装置的激发。
2、如权利要求1的一个便携式通信装置,
进一步包括一个机壳,这个机壳具有一第一侧面,所述第一侧面具有一个开口,所述开口的面积不小于第一侧面面积的约25%;和
其中,用户接口进一步包括一个显示器和一个键盘,显示器被放置在开口中,并且键盘被形成在所述第一侧面中。
3、如权利要求1的一个便携式通信装置,其中
所述传感器是一个包括一个IR发送器和一个IR接收器的红外(IR)靠近检测器,所述IR发送器连接到所述处理部分,IR发送器在接收来自所述处理部分的一个使能信号时,发送一个IR发送束,所述IR接收器在接收到IR发送束的反射后,就输出一个非使能信号,和
所述用户接口进一步包括所述触摸式传感输入装置的一个驱动器电路,所述驱动器电路连接到所述IR接收器,所述触摸式传感输入装置和所述处理部分,所述驱动器电路对所述触摸式传感输入装置的激活作出响应而与所述处理部分进行输入信号的通信,所述驱动器电路在接收到非使能信号后就中断输入信号的通信。
4、如权利要求1的一个便携式通信装置,其中所述传感器是包括一个IR发送器和一个IR接收器的一个红外(IR)靠近检测器,所述IR发送器用于发送由IR脉冲组成的一个IR发送束。
5、如权利要求4的一个便携式通信装置,其中所述IR发送器包括一个振荡器部分和一个脉冲整形部分,所述振荡器部分用于产生具有一第一占空比的一个连续波信号,所述脉冲整形部分用于将所述连续波信号转换为具有一第二占空比的一个脉冲信号,其中第二占空比小于第一占空比。
6、如权利要求5的一个便携式通信装置,其中所述脉冲信号包括脉冲和连续脉冲之间的一个分隔时段,每一个脉冲具有一第一持续时间,分隔时段不大于0.5秒,第一持续时间不小于50ns。
7、如权利要求5的一个便携式通信装置,其中所述IR发送器进一步包括一个发送部分,所述发送部分用于放大所述脉冲信号中脉冲的幅度。
8、如权利要求4的一个便携式通信装置,其中所述IR接收器进一步包括一个高通滤波器。
9、如权利要求1的一个便携式通信装置,其中所述便携式通信装置是一个灵巧电话。
10、一个灵巧电话,包括:
一个机壳,具有一第一侧面和第一和第二端;
一个扬声器前盖,形成于第一侧面中靠近第一端的位置;
一个麦克风孔,形成于第一侧面中靠近第二端的位置;
一个基本上成矩形的开口,形成于第一侧面中、扬声器前盖和所述麦克风孔之间的一个位置,所述基本上成矩形的开口的面积不小于第一侧面面积的约25%;
一个显示器,位于所述基本上成矩形的开口中,所述显示器具有第一和第二层,所述第一层包括一个触摸屏幕,所述第二层包括一个液晶显示器(LCD),所述第一层基本上是透明的,以能够看到LCD;
一个无线频率(RF)收发器,位于所述机壳中;
一个处理部分,位于所述机壳中,并且连接到所述RF收发器部分,所述处理部分对一个输入信号作出响应,来控制所述灵巧电话执行一个无线电话功能和一个个人计算机或者个人数字助理功能中的一个功能;
一个触摸屏幕驱动器电路,位于所述机壳中,并且连接到所述处理部分,所述触摸屏幕驱动器电路对触摸屏幕的激发作出响应,与处理部分进行输入信号的通信;和
一个传感器,位于所述第一侧面,所述传感器连接到所述处理部分和所述触摸屏幕驱动器电路,当所述灵巧电话位于靠近一个用户的一个位置时,所述传感器关闭所述触摸屏幕驱动器电路,停止与所述处理部分进行输入信号的通信。
