背景技术
容器上用的绝热外壳为已知,例如美国专利4,871,597中所公开的。该外壳包括作为第一内层或者最内层的织物层、作为第二内层的绝热层(包括聚合泡沫)、作为第三内层的金属化聚合物薄膜反射层、和最外层的织物筛网层。然而,4个不同层的使用,尽管赋予容器以良好的绝热性,但是可能太笨重,从而限制了这种外壳用于其它目的的功能,例如标签坯料。
在标签技术中,通常在标签坯料中并不使用不同材料和不同层。部分原因是由于层压不同材料和层的成本太高的事实。另外,为了对不同材料进行层压,需要对其中的一种具有一定的厚度或膨松度的赋予标签绝热性的材料进行加热以使该膨松材料塌陷。
在薄膜技术中还已知一薄的绝缘带,其包括一聚酯织物强化的聚酯薄膜,例如在3M工具和通讯OEM中公开的。然而,该绝缘带最厚也才0.0075英寸(0.0190厘米),不适合用作容器上的绝热体。
因此,需要设计一种容器上用的生产成本不高的绝热体。这种绝热体具有提供适当绝热性的足够厚度,但是又足够的薄以具有柔性,以便它可环绕容器。理想地,这种绝热体将具有多种功能,以便它也可以用作标签。
发明概述
本发明通过提供用作容器上的绝热体的标签坯料,克服了现有技术中的相关问题。所述绝热体具有足够的膨松度,即足够厚(大于0.0075英寸(0.0190厘米)),以便赋予容器足够的绝热性,但是又要足够薄,以便它可以容易地环绕容器。由于这种特性,该绝热体也可以起标签坯料的作用。因此,使用由本发明的标签坯料制成的标签较之仅使用普通标签,具有在更长时间内保持容器内容物温度的优点。而且,本发明的标签坯料可以印刷,由此强化了其作为容器上的标签的用途。
本发明的标签坯料的另一优点是其生产成本比层压结构的低,这是因为在一个优选实施方式中,本发明的标签坯料包括一带有用于将薄膜粘结到绝热层上的热封性粘合剂的共挤出薄膜。
而且,在所述优选实施方式中,薄膜和绝热层都是由聚酯制成的,其中包含可兼容的粘合剂,本发明的标签坯料可以整体回收,因此,与现有技术中已知的标签或绝热体相比,本发明的标签坯料具有显著的环境益处。
本发明的绝热标签坯料包括一层压在面材上的热阻为0.05-0.5CLO(0.0077-0.077m2.K/W)的绝热层,其中该标签坯料厚度是至少0.0075英寸(0.0190厘米)。

发明详述
根据本发明,提供了一种绝热标签坯料。这种坯料在图1和2中以5显示,并在图7的45处卷起。将标签坯料切割成各个长度制成标签,如图3-6所示施加到容器的标记15处。本发明的标签坯料包括在图1和2中30处所示的绝热层。该绝热层具有以绝热单位或CLO测定为0.05-0.5的热阻。该CLO单位定义为服装的热阻单位。热阻的国际标准单位是平方米开尔文/瓦(m2.K/W)(参见“纺织品术语和定义”,第10版,纺织品学会(1995),第66页,350)。因此,本发明的绝热层的热阻范围以国际标准单位表示是0.0077-0.077m2.K/W。尽管CLO是根据服装定义的,但是该量度可用于描述任何纺织品体系的热阻,在此将其用于描述本发明的绝热层的热阻。CLO值取决于用于该绝热层的材料及其厚度。没有使用本发明的绝热层制备的标签的CLO值低于所述范围的下限(即0.05CLO或者0.0077m2.K/W)。
所述绝热层包括有机热塑性纤维基料,其中包括聚酯、聚乙烯或聚丙烯。在一个优选实施方式中,所述绝热层是包括聚酯的纤维填充物絮垫。由E.I.du Pont de Nemours and Company销售的名为THERMOLITE Active Original的纤维填充物絮垫特别适用于本发明。本发明所用的纤维填充物絮垫具有10gm/m2-200gm/m2的单位面积重量和小于0.3gm/cm3的体积密度。或者,该绝热层可以包括熔喷纤维,例如熔喷聚烯烃,由3M以THINSULATE销售。

或者,所述绝热层可以包括例如由E.I.du Pont de Nemours andCompany of Wilmington,Delaware以商标COOLMAX销售的、由四通道(tetrachannel)或扇形椭圆形纤维制成的针织织物。或者所述绝热层可以是编织或羊毛材料。所述绝热层也可以包括某些类型的无纺织物,例如毛毡或者高度膨松的无纺织物或针织无纺织物。
将该绝热层层压在图1和2中的10以及图1中的20所示的面材上。“层压”是指通过粘合剂或其它方式将各材料层粘结起来。面材可以是薄膜、纸和/或织物。所述薄膜由包括聚酯、聚乙烯或聚丙烯的热塑性材料制成。在图1所述的实施方式中,绝热层层压在两片薄膜、纸或织物之间。然而,将单片面材层压在绝热层上也在本发明的范围内,如图2所示。由于与标签坯料的总厚度相比,面材的厚度并不重要,因此使用单片面材基本上不影响标签坯料的厚度。本发明的标签坯料厚度大于0.0075英寸(0.0190厘米),这样的厚度可以赋予容器足够的绝热性。面材10包括第一层13和第二层14(如图1和2所示),面材20包括第一层22和第二层24(如图1所示),它们的厚度可以在0.0002英寸(0.0005厘米)-0.010英寸(0.025厘米)之间。面材厚度的优选范围是0.00048英寸(0.00121厘米)-0.0020英寸(0.0050厘米)。
在一个优选实施方式中,正如本文后面以“共挤出薄膜”实施方式提到的,面材包括一种经共挤出的薄膜,以便其可包括两层。因此,面材10包括第一层13和第二层14。在所述实施方式中,第一层13和第二层14由不同材料制成,但是形成一片薄膜。第二层14是热封性的,即它是由熔融温度比第一层13的材料的熔融温度低的材料制成的,这样当加热面材10时,第二层14软化并且当施加压力时粘合到绝热层上。类似地,面材20包括第一层22和第二层24。而且,第一层22和第二层24由不同材料制成,但是形成一片薄膜。第二层24是热封性的,即它是由熔融温度比第一层22的材料的熔融温度低的材料制成的,这样当加热面材20时,第二层24软化并且当施加压力时粘合到绝热层上。
本发明的标签坯料还可以包括一在面材上的涂层。该涂层,如图1和2中的12所示,提供在面材的非热封性表面(即第一层13和22)上。该涂层可以印刷,这样同一坯料在提供绝热性的同时还可以用作标签。该涂层是以本领域公知的丙烯酸、尿烷、聚酯或其它树脂的含水聚合物分散液、乳液或溶液为基础的标准印刷底料。(参见,例如美国专利5,453,326)。或者,如果将绝热层提前印刷,并且面材透明的话,可以不使用使面材可印刷的涂层。
在共挤出薄膜实施方式的一个优选构造中,将两种不同厚度的薄膜用于面材,例如图1中的面材10和面材20。适合用作图1中的面材10的薄膜的一个具体实例是MELINEX854,可从DuPont TeijinFilms of Wilmington,Delaware商购获得。MELINEX 854是一120号(0.0012英寸,或者0.0030厘米)厚的共挤出双轴取向的聚酯薄膜。该薄膜的第一层(例如图1中的13)是由标准聚酯均聚物(特性粘度为约0.590,含有2500ppm无机滑动添加剂颗粒)制成的。该层占总薄膜厚度的约65%。将共聚酯(包括18重量%间苯二甲酸,特性粘度为约0.635,含有2300ppm无机滑动添加剂颗粒)共挤出形成热封性层(例如图1中的14),并且占总薄膜厚度的35%(优选15-40%)。在与该热封性层相对的第一层的表面上,使用凹版式涂布机在线涂布(在薄膜加工过程中)印刷底涂层,所述印刷底涂层以前述的含水聚酯分散液为基础(图1中的12),涂层干重为0.03g/m2。MELINEX854薄膜也合适用作图1中的面材20,但是该面材比用作面材10的面材略薄。在所有其它方面,用作面材20的MELINEX854薄膜与上述用作面材10的MELINEX854薄膜相同。
根据本发明的另一方面,面材可以在背对绝热层的表面上通过电晕放电处理改性,以便于在其上印刷。具体地说,将第一层13或22的表面改性。此外,或者作为替代,可以对面材上的涂层进行该电晕放电处理。或者,为了装饰目的并增加光学效果,在涂层上面,或者代替涂层,可以在背离绝热层的表面上通过蒸汽沉积来沉积金属层,例如铝层。如果进行所述的蒸汽沉积,那么除了该蒸汽沉积之外,通常不再进行电晕放电处理。
根据本发明的另一改进,在背离绝热层的表面上,可以根据装饰的需要将面材压印成各种需要的图案。可以在涂层上面,在电晕放电处理之后,如果需要的话,在蒸汽沉积物上面,进行该压印处理。具体地说,可以使用压力和热量使面材的某些区域更薄,这样所述表面看上去就从这些压薄的区域凸了出来。以某一图案进行压印可以装饰该标签坯料。所述热量和压力可以使用具有装饰图案的成型砧或烙铁来施加。或者,所述热量和压力可以通过压花压印辊或蚀刻压印辊或者压花往复模具在印压机中施加。所述热量应在200-400(93-204℃)下施加,这样施加的压力将在标签坯料上产生永久压痕。施加热量应至少使面材软化,并且也可以使绝热层软化。软化绝热层没有软化面材关键,但是也有利于压印过程。
此外,可以借助表面改性(即涂布或电晕放电处理)的帮助用粘合剂层粘合到另一表面上。为了粘合到另一表面上,将一粘合剂底料层(如图1中的26所示)涂敷到面材的未处理表面或者涂敷到电晕放电处理过的表面(但是不涂敷到蒸汽沉积改性或压印过的表面)上。该粘合剂底料层是压敏性的,能够将标签施加到容器上。此外,可以在粘合剂底料层26的表面上提供一剥离衬垫28,如图1所示。剥离衬垫的作用是保护粘合剂,直到标签施加到容器上时。或者将粘合剂(不是粘合剂底料层)涂敷到改性表面上。
例如可以用热封刀在本发明的标签坯料的边缘将其密封,以便流体不能渗透标签坯料的边缘。这些边缘在图3-6中以132表示。或者,所述标签坯料可以是自封的。在所述自封构造中,可以将标签坯料折回到其自身上,这样已将上下边缘密封。由本发明的标签坯料制成的标签优选经过密封,以便流体不能渗透其边缘。
根据本发明,还提供了一种容器/绝热标签坯料系统。这种系统通常在图3-6中以100显示。该系统包括环绕有绝热标签坯料的容器,以便覆盖容器的大部分表面积。该容器可以是适用于饮料和食品的安全贮藏和食用的罐或瓶。罐在图3和4中分别以90和110表示,瓶在图5中以115表示。或者容器可以是图6中以140表示的杯。或者容器可以是袋,并且在某些情况下,标签本身可以成为袋。所述容器环绕有如图1和2中所述由标签坯料制成的绝热标签。所述标签可以粘合在容器上,或者与其本身沿重叠边缘粘合,例如图3-6中的边缘130。
在图4的实施方式中,将本发明的标签施加到罐110(已经设计具有合适的压痕120)上。如果标签的边缘130通过粘合剂或者通过施加热量彼此固着在一起,那么这些压痕可以将标签保持在原地。在图6的实施方式中,杯140属于常用于单份热饮的类型,例如一次性咖啡杯。或者,所述杯也可以是一纸盒,例如盛冰激淋的纸盒。如果所述杯属于圆锥截面外观,如图6,其中150所示的上圆周显著大于160所示的下圆周,由本发明的标签坯料制成的标签可以作成类似的圆锥截面形状,以便与所述杯子紧密贴合。在这种情况下,粘合剂将标签固定在杯上。
除了形成整体的标签坯料,也可以将绝热层粘结到容器上,然后将面材粘合到绝热层上。然后,可以将面材或收缩环绕标签施加到绝热层上。一个可以所述构造使用的绝热层的实例是切割成一定长度并在罐上滑动的编织管。或者,将热熔融胶水吹到待绝热的罐区域上,形成一层膨松细纤维至所需厚度。
根据本发明,还提供了一种绝热标签坯料的制备方法。参照图7描述该方法。在该方法中,将一片用于绝热层的材料,例如纤维填充物絮垫30,从进给辊45供料。此外,面材10从进给辊40供应,并且在布置该面材时使涂层12远离绝热层30取向,使第二层14面对绝热层30。此外,面材20可以从进给辊50供应并且在布置该面材时使粘合剂层(如果需要的话,如图1中26所示)远离绝热层取向。面材的第一层(例如图1和2中所示的13和图1中所示的22)远离绝热层取向,并且面材的第二层(例如图1和2中的14和图1中所示的24)面对绝热层。
将一片绝热层(例如30)和至少一片面材(例如10)送入热压延辊70和80之间的热压延辊辊隙,图7所示。热压延辊使得绝热层的表面和面材彼此粘合。将这些压延辊加热至激活热封性层但又不会使上述的整个面材熔融的温度。对使用共挤出48号和120号薄膜作为面材并使用纤维填充物絮垫作为绝热层的实施方式而言,该温度在200-500(93℃-260℃)的范围内,优选的温度范围是280-320(137℃-160℃)。然而,在高线速(即速度为300-400英尺(91-122米)/分钟)下,可以使用在450-500(232℃-260℃)的范围内的较高温度。将这些压延辊之间移开适当的距离以产生适合层压的辊隙压力。或者,除了使用共挤出热封性薄膜,还可以在面材和绝热层之间涂敷粘合剂以将它们粘合在一起。该粘合剂通过涂布辊(未显示)涂敷,该涂布辊可以置于图7中的加料辊40和50与压延辊70和80之间。通过加工设备借助图7中所示的卷绕辊20拉成标签坯料。
由此生产厚度大于0.0075英寸(0.0190厘米),优选在0.010英寸(0.025厘米)和0.040英寸(0.102厘米)之间,最优选在0.020英寸(0.051厘米)和0.030英寸(0.076厘米)之间的标签坯料。由于与标签坯料的总厚度相比面材的厚度不重要,因此所述标签坯料可以是具有一片面材(如图2)或者两片面材(如图1)的标签坯料。标签坯料形成之后,用密封标签坯料的边缘的热封刀切割至所需宽度。然后切割该标签坯料形成标签,它可以优选具有密封边缘。
或者,除了使用单片面材,还可以在两片面材之间将绝热层加入到热压延辊中,使绝热层和面材的表面彼此粘合。该实施方式也描述在图7,其中将两个面材10和20都加入到热压延辊70和80之间的辊隙。在将一片或者两片面材加入到热压延辊之间的任一实施方式中,可以将绝热层絮垫提前印刷,由此省去涂布面材以使其可以印刷的步骤。
对本领域技术人员来说显而易见的是,在不背离其精神的情况下可以对本发明的方法进行改进。例如,本发明另外可以包括一种绝热标签坯料的制备方法,其中将包括热塑性人造纤维的棉网加入到可商购获得的卡片机中。在上面图7所述的方法中,将该棉网在纤维填充物絮垫的位置运转,由此直接沉积在面材上。使棉网和面材经受压延过程,由此将纤维从棉网压到面材层。应注意的是,根据这一实施方式制备的标签坯料在外观上比优选实施方式的厚度薄,其在0.020英寸(0.051厘米)和0.030英寸(0.076厘米)之间,但是仍然大于0.0075英寸(0.0190厘米)。
下面通过实施例描述本发明。这些实施例中所用的测定方法描述如下。
测定方法
就下面的实施例而言,CLO是在“Thermolabo II”(可从日本Kato的Kato Tekko有限公司商购获得)上测定的,它是带有冷却浴的仪器,所述冷却浴得自Allied Fisher Scientific of Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania。实验室条件是21℃和65%相对湿度。样品尺寸为10.5厘米×10.5厘米。
6gm/cm2下的样品的厚度(以英寸计)是使用Frazier压缩仪(得自Frazier Precision Instrument Company,Inc.of Gaithersburg,Maryland)测定的。为了测定6g/cm2下的厚度,使用下式设定刻度盘上的PSI(英镑/平方英寸)(千克/平方厘米):
(6.4516cm2/in2)(6g/cm2)/453.6g=0.8532lb/in2
Frazier压缩仪校准图表上的读数0.8532(1英寸或2.54厘米,直径压制机英尺(diameter presser foot))显示通过将最高刻度设定在3.5psi(0.2kg/cm2),测定6g/cm2下的厚度。
然后校准该Thermolabo II仪器。然后将温度传感器盒(BT盒)调整至高于室温10℃。所述BT盒的尺寸为3.3英寸×3.3英寸(8.4厘米×8.4厘米)。加热板(尺寸为2英寸×2英寸)位于盒中心,并且被泡沫聚苯乙烯包围。将室温水通过金属水盒循环以保持恒定温度。将样品放置在所述水盒上,并将所述BT盒放置在样品上。记录将所述BT盒保持其温度持续1分钟所需的能量(以瓦计)。将样品测定3次,并进行以下计算:
导热率(W/cm℃)′=(W)(D×2.54)/(A)(T)
其中:
W=瓦
D=在6g/cm2下以英寸计测定的样品的厚度。(由于BT盒的重量是150gm,BT盒上的加热板的面积是25cm2,因此使用6g/cm2)。将该厚度乘以2.54转换成厘米。
A=BT板的面积(25厘米2)
T=10℃
CLO=厚度×0.00164/导热率
数值0.00164是一个组合系数,其中包括将2.54的校正(将厚度由英寸校正为厘米)乘以校正系数0.0006461以将热阻的单位转换成cm2·℃/W。为了将导热率转换为热阻,将导热率放入等式的分母中。
实施例1
按照上面结合图7所述的方法制备标签坯料,只是代替从进给辊添加面材10和20,而是将它们以单片加入到辊隙。将所述标签坯料切割至一定长度以形成标签。使用E.I.du Pont de Nemours和Company of Wilmington,Delaware以商标THERMOLITE ActiveOriginal销售的类型的纤维填充物絮垫作为绝热层。在特定厚度0.25英寸(0.63厘米)下所述纤维填充物絮垫具有100gm/m2的单位面积重量,或者具有0.013gm/cm3的体积密度。
用作面材的薄膜属于DuPont Teijin Films of Wilmington,Delaware以商标MELINEX 301-H销售的类型。(该薄膜与上述的MELINEX 854是相同的薄膜,但是它不包括底料涂层,如图1中所示的12和26)。热封性层的组成(例如,图1中的14和24)是以间苯二甲酸为主的共聚酯,并占薄膜总厚度的10-50%;优选15-30%。在所述实施方式中,面材10厚1.2毫英寸(0.0012英寸或0.0030厘米),面材20厚0.48毫英寸(0.00048英寸或0.00122厘米)。层压之后的最终标签坯料厚度是0.025英寸(0.064厘米)。由该标签坯料环绕罐制备一标签。另一标签由该标签坯料环绕吹制聚酯瓶来制得。
将热封性层在240-350(116-177℃)之间的温度下激活。数据示于下表1中,并绘图于图8和9。正如从图8和9可以看到的,使用不同激活温度的影响是:在较低温度下提供较大厚度和较大热阻值,在较高温度下提供较小厚度和较低热阻值。

Claims (17)
1、一种绝热标签坯料,其包括层压在面材上的热阻在0.0077-0.077m2.K/W的范围内的绝热层,其中所述标签坯料的厚度在0.0190厘米至0.102厘米之间。
2、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中所述面材包括薄膜、纸或织物中的至少一种。
3、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中所述绝热层包括纤维填充物絮垫。
4、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其还包括在面材上的涂层,其中所述涂层是可印刷的。
5、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中所述标签坯料在其边缘被密封。
6、如权利要求2的绝热标签坯料,其中所述薄膜由包括聚酯、聚乙烯或聚丙烯的热塑性材料制成。
7、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中在所述面材的背离绝热层的表面上改性以便于在其上印刷。
8、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中在所述面材的背离绝热层的表面上改性以便于用粘合剂粘合在另一表面上。
9、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中所述绝热层包括有机热塑性纤维基料,所述基料包括聚酯、聚乙烯或聚丙烯。
10、如权利要求1的绝热标签坯料,其中所述绝热层包括泡沫。
11、一种绝热标签坯料,其厚度在0.0190厘米至0.102厘米之间,其包括层压在至少一片共挤出薄膜上的绝热层,所述共挤出薄膜包括第一层和第二层,其中所述第一层和第二层是由不同材料制成的,并且第二层的熔融温度比第一层材料的熔融温度低,这样当面材受热时第二层软化并且在施加压力时粘合到绝热层上。
12、一种容器/绝热标签坯料系统,其包括环绕有绝热标签坯料的容器,以便覆盖容器的大部分表面积,其中所述标签坯料包括层压在面材上的热阻在0.0077-0.077m2.K/W的范围内的绝热层,其中标签坯料的厚度在0.0190厘米至0.102厘米之间。
13、如权利要求12的容器/绝热标签坯料,其中容器是适合饮料和食品的安全贮藏和食用的罐或瓶。
14、权利要求1-11中任一所述的绝热标签坯料的制备方法,其中将一片绝热层和至少一片面材送入热压延辊辊隙,使所述绝热层的表面和所述面材的表面彼此粘合,接着用热封刀切割至所需宽度,并将绝热层和面材的边缘密封。
15、如权利要求14的方法,其中所述绝热层是纤维填充物絮垫,其被送到两片面材之间进入热压延辊,使纤维填充物絮垫和面材的表面彼此粘合。
16、如权利要求14的方法,其中在所述面材和所述绝热层之间插入粘合剂。
17、如权利要求14的方法,其中所述绝热层是棉网。
