Abstract

Description

光纤连接器
本发明涉及一种用于使光纤互相接触的光纤连接器。
相关技术
光纤连接器,例如,用于光缆的,迄今一直采用使最终产品的尺寸和重量与电缆中的光纤本身相比时极为不成比例地的技术和材料来制造。这样容易在光学元件制造厂的操作过程中和安装光缆时发生光纤的断裂。而且,由于它们是由大量精密制造的部件构成的这一事实,所以目前市场上的光纤连接器较贵。
美国专利US-A-3904269和4880291描述了以前公知的光纤连接器,通过连接器连接的光缆在两者的相对槽等中的连接器的啮合处互相接触。
发明概要
为了简化例如用于光缆的光纤连接器的制造和操作,包含精密部件的光学连接器已经开发出,其中该连接器可采用便宜的例如塑料注塑件大量的制造,从而降低了每一连接器的价格。以这种方式制成的光学连接器将具有轻重量、小物理尺寸且如上所述还具有较低的连接器单价。由于光学连接器可以有平滑的卷筒形表面,而没有任何可钩入该连接器或光缆的包围物的突起,所以也有利于光缆的运动。这种光学连接器的一个特点是在纤维末端相会的断口两侧的部件是相同的,从而不同部件的数量可减少到最小。
现在将借助于优选实施例并参照附图来详细描述本发明,其中:

优选实施例的描述
图1透视地示出了稍微分解的各个部件,其中连接器可相同地制造。每一连接器包括一连接于一锥形部分3、4的一外部圆筒形部分1、2,以提供防止包围的光纤5、6破裂的保护。每一圆筒形部分1、2的设置能包围光纤的套箍7、8。该套箍包括将一光纤胶粘在或以其它方式固定在其内的薄圆筒形部分9、10;将一光纤胶粘在或夹持在其内的以其覆层作为初级和次级保护的圆筒形部分11、12;一凸缘13、14;一设置得可在凸缘和圆筒形部分内的环形插入件17、18等之间作用的弹簧15、16;以及一包围的套筒的一部分。圆筒形部分的开口端至少有一槽19、20和至少一锁定肩部21、22,该槽和锁定肩部设置成可与另一相同的外圆筒形部分上的相应槽和锁定肩部一起作用,以连接该连接器。套箍9、10的彼此正对的相对部分设置接触状态,以便由保护和对中套筒23所包围。
为了连接有光纤的连接器,首先外圆筒形部分1、2相对移动,然后有其所包围的光纤5、6的套箍7、8上的圆筒形部分9、10插入公共套筒23的圆筒形空腔24内。因此,在接触位置于套箍的端部处的光纤端面25、26在空腔24内相互接触,其中光纤的端面25、26可以抛光或以其它的方式处理以获得较低的衰减。为了确保在接触位置的低衰减,需要在光纤端部之间保持一定的接触压力,因此在套箍的圆筒形部分上于凸缘13、14之后布置两个螺旋弹簧15、16,其在凸缘和外圆筒形部分内的内部环形阻止面17、18之间作用。
然后,具有圆筒形锁定部件19-22的外圆筒形部分1、2相向前进,每一螺旋弹簧将在套箍上的凸缘和外圆筒形部分内的内部环形阻止面之间压缩,从而可保持所述接触压力,且外圆筒形部分上的肩部21、22将在其槽19、20内移动到锁定端位置。在锁定位置27、28,外圆筒形部分相对转动,且肩部进入它们的锁定位置29、30。通过使肩部的接触表面31、32彼此相对成一定角度,由于肩部可相对移动而不转动直到它们相互靠接(见图2),所以可获得一种改进的锁定作用。当彼此相对压靠外圆筒形部分时先前获得的弹簧张力将稍微减小,因为肩部移动到它们的停止和锁定位置。
为了释放该光学连接器并使光纤的端面之间的界面的光学接触断开,必须首先彼此相对推压外圆筒,以便能使肩部上的倾斜接触面29、30释放开并相互分离。然后该外圆筒可相对转动,即,肩部从它们的锁定位置抬起,然后将外圆筒拉开。由于圆筒的直径逐渐减小且材料厚度随着从光学连接器的界面的离开而减小,所以外圆筒的锥形端3、4形成了对光缆端部的光纤的破裂的保护。
图2详细示出了肩部在停止和锁定位置是如何构形的,且很明显示出了倾斜肩部的接触面是如何相互抵靠的。
当然本发明不限于上述的和附图中所示的实施例。相反它可在所附的权利要求的范围内进行改变。

Claims (3)

1.一种用于连接例如在光缆中的光纤的光纤连接器,其特征在于,一套筒形部分(1、2)设置成包围一光纤套箍(9、10),一套筒(23)设置成包围两有插入的光纤(5、6)的相对套箍,位于套箍(9、10)在套筒(23)内的插入部分上的光纤端部(25、26)彼此相互接触,该用于固定并锁定光纤端部的接触的套筒形部分(1)设有至少一个外部槽(19)和至少一个肩部(21),与相对的同样设置的有带有光纤的包围套箍的套筒形部分(2)上的相应外部槽(20)和肩部(22)合作,且弹簧件(15、16)设置得在接触位置使光纤端彼此相互受压。
2.如权利要求1所述的光纤连接器,其特征在于,弹簧部件(15、16)绕套箍(9、10)布置,且在套箍上的凸缘(13、14)和外部套筒内的支座(17、18)之间作用。
3.如权利要求1所述的光纤连接器,其特征在于,锁定肩部(21、22)具有用于改进的锁定作用的倾斜接触面(31、32)。
