具体实施方式
在图1中示出了按照本发明的一个气雾发生器21。该气雾发生器21的运行原理和在可用的情况下在该气雾发生器中使用的材料最好与在美国专利No.5743251公开的气雾发生器的运行原理和所使用的材料类似,在这里把该专利整体地结合进来作为参考。
对于气雾发生器21的优选的应用是作为一种吸入装置,比如对于药物的吸入装置,比如哮喘病药物,止痛剂,或者任何其它的处理身体状态的治疗药物。气雾发生器21最好包括第一部件23,它最好包括例如要被转变成气雾的材料,并且,它最好是在一次或预定的多次使用后可以丢弃的,把它可拆开地装到第二部件25上,此第二部件最好包括例如电源和逻辑线路结构,并且,此第二部件最好是永久性的,这意味着它可以与后来的第一部件一起再次使用。可以以一端对一端或一侧靠一侧的方式把第一和第二部件23和25彼此装在一起。然而,如果愿意或必须,该气雾发生器可以是一个整件的装置。
第一部件23最好包括形式为一根管27的流动通道,它有第一端和第二端29,31,并有相对于该管设置的一个加热器33,用来对该管加热。或者在管27上或者在管的第二端31与物料源37之间设置一个阀门35,该阀门最好是可以打开并可以关闭的,使管的第一端29与物料源之间的连通打开和关闭。阀门35可以形成管的第二端31。阀门35最好是可以用电打开和关闭的,最好为螺线管型的阀门。第一部件23最好还包括要被蒸发的物料源37。第一部件23最好也包括一个加压装置39,用来当阀门35处于打开位置时使物料源37中的材料由物料源引进管27中。
第二部件25最好是可以装到第一部件23上并可以由第一部件上拆下,并包括用于加热器33和阀门35的一个电源41和一个控制装置43,比如一个微芯片,用来控制由电源到加热器和阀门的电的供应。电源41最好是一个电池,更可取的是一个可充电电池,然而,如果愿意或必须,该电源是一个非消耗性的电源,比如一根传统的电源线。国际出版物No.WO 98/17131公开了一种电源控制器和操作电产生气雾的系统的一种方法,该专利公开了特别是用于加热器的一种电源和一种控制装置,它的操作原理和特点可以转移到本发明,在这里把它结合进来作为参考。
在WO 98/17131中,按照一个预定的模式系列把电加到加热件上,使每个模式有每个模式不同的目标总能量和对于每个模式预定的时间间隔,从而完成一个热处理事件。在WO 98/17131中,把控制器的构形做成调节在每个模式中的功率,使得保持目标能量不变,而不管外在的条件比如电池的电压或类似物的状态如何。最好在由管27中排放出之前,使进入管27形成的流动通道的所有液体蒸发。可选地使用如上面所描述的在电源循环中的一个或多个模式内的功率调节确保可以在电池电压的一个宽的范围内比如电池放电循环中会遇到的电压范围内一致地实现这样的蒸发。
气雾发生器21的一般运行包括使用者提供一个信号,比如通过压一个按钮,或者进行某种其它的动作,比如靠近管27的第一端29吸气,启动一个流量传感器或一个压力降传感器,控制装置43接收这些信号。对信号做出响应,控制装置43最好控制来自电源41的电供应,使得阀门35被打开,并把电供应到加热器33,使加热器加热到所要求的工作温度。可能是希望或必须的是:取决于应用和所采用的设备的不同,在对加热器33供电之前或之后打开阀门35。
当打开阀门35时,加压装置39把物料源37中的材料引进管27中。在管27中的材料被加热到在管中的蒸发温度,蒸发,并由管的自由的第一端29向外膨胀。在由管27流出时,被蒸发的材料与较冷的空气接触,并冷凝形成气雾。最好,在预定的时间之后,控制装置43自动地关闭阀门35,关断对加热器33的电源供应。在一次或多次使用之后,最好把第一部件23与第二部件25分开,处理第一部件,并把新的第一部件装到第二部件上,用来进一步使用。
因为气雾发生器21当前优选的应用为用作一个吸入装置,所以,气雾发生器最好尽可能地小。阀门35最好是一个微型阀门。更可取的是,阀门35,加热器33,以及管27是在单一的芯片上形成的整体的微电子机械。就把本发明中所公开的气雾发生器21的其它部件作为微电子装置生产来说,也可以把它们在单一的芯片上与阀门35,加热器33,以及管27一起形成,或者在另一个芯片上形成。
按照优选实施例,物料源37包括一个柔性容器45,加压装置39包括一个腔室47,柔性容器就设在该腔室中。最好把加压气体G密封在该腔室47中,并围绕着柔性容器45。加压装置39最好是一个所谓的sepra容器,其类型为用来散布例如凝胶刮脸膏,填缝隙化合物,以及脱毛剂的类型,但是,如果愿意或必须,也可以使用用来输送材料比如推进剂的其它加压装置和手动的或自动的泵。然而,sepra容器加压系统是特别优选的,这特别是由于它能够经得住周围温度的改变,并经得住气体G的压力的改变,因为气体是不消耗的。当希望由物料源37散布材料并且阀门35打开时,气体G的压力最好比周围气压高大约两个大气压(大约30psi),气体G压柔性容器45,使材料通过与物料源连通的管的第二端31进入管27中。优选的气体G是氮气,因为它容易获得,并且相对比较便宜,但是,多种其它的气体也是适用的,并且,可能对于特殊的应用是优选的。
材料由柔性容器45中排出意味着在腔室47中有更多的空间,这意味着在腔室中周围的气体G占据更大的体积。最好,把柔性容器45的尺寸相对于腔室47的尺寸选择成使得气体G的压力当柔性容器是空的时比当柔性容器是充满的时低大约百分之十。
可以设置一个压力传感器48,感应在腔室47中的气体G的压力。如在图2中所看到的,最好把压力传感器48设置成把代表在腔室47中的压力的信号送到控制装置43。进而,最好把控制装置43设置成对电源41进行控制,按照来自压力传感器的信号,调节把电供应到阀门35的时间长度,并且,如果愿意或必须,调节把电供应到加热器的时间长度。这样,可以通过使材料散布更长一些时间即通过保持阀门35打开更长的时间补偿在腔室47中的压力降,这种压力降可以造成在柔性容器45中材料散布速度的降低,并且,如果愿意或必须,可以维持对加热器33的电的供应。
最好由气雾发生器的使用者对于控制装置43提供一个把电供应给阀门35和加热器33的信号,以及(在如果有的情况下)气雾发生器21的其它特点。尽管可以通过例如压一个按钮,旋转一个旋钮,或者拨动一个开关提供该信号,但是,用来提供信号的优选装置是以使用者在管27的第一端29附近引起某种方式的空气流为基础的,比如通过在该气雾发生器的一个嘴件部段49上吸气。气雾发生器21最好包括一个空气流动检测装置51,用来确定什么时刻在管27的第一端29附近存在预定的空气流量。最好把该空气流动检测装置51设置成把一个信号送给控制装置43表明存在那个预定的空气流量,这可以表示一个使用者正在嘴件端49的打开端53上吸气,并且,最好把控制器设置成按照来自该空气流动检测装置的信号,控制电源对阀门35和加热器33以及任何其它部件的供电。如在图1中所看到的那样,最好把空气流动检测装置51设置成横截着管27的第一端29,并在该第一端的上游,该空气流动检测装置帮助确保存在一个适当的空气流供应,当蒸发的材料由管的第一端膨胀出时,由蒸发的材料产生气雾,并有效地发送气雾。
在气雾发生器21是一个多件装置的情况下,最好把空气流动检测装置51永久地安装到第二部件25上,因此,它最好是一个固定的部件,即,它不被处理掉。然而,如果愿意或必须,该空气流动检测装置51可以是一个可丢弃的部件,形成第一部件23的一部分,并且,可以比如通过一种电连接可拆开地连接到控制装置43上。
嘴件部段49最好有一个打开端53。最好把管27设在该嘴件部段49中,最好把管的第一端29设在嘴件部段内,离开打开端53一定距离,使得由管的第一端膨胀出的蒸发的材料可以与周围的空气完全混合,形成气雾。为了确保适当地供应空气用来与蒸发的材料混合,并且确保适当的空气供应使得使用者可以在嘴件部段上吸气并启动空气流动检测装置51,嘴件部段49最好有多个通气孔55。为了使空气容易流过管27的第一端29从而容易形成气雾,最好把管的第一端设在嘴件部段49中,在通气孔55与嘴件部段的打开端53之间。最好把通气孔55设置成关于管27最好靠近端部29,使得流过通气孔的空气完全没有或对管有最小的冷却效应。当然,可以把管27与通过通气孔55流动的空气隔绝,比如通过围绕管设置绝缘材料或设置一根同心管56(以虚线示出)或者类似物,形成空气与该管分离开的通道。
作为使用一个空气流动检测装置51对控制装置43送出信号的替代方案或附加方式,如在图2中以虚线示出的,可以使用一个压力降检测装置57,用来确定什么时刻在管27的第一端29附近出现一个预定的压力降。最好把此压力降检测装置57设置成对控制装置43送出一个信号,指示预定的压力降正在出现,这可以是标志着使用者正在嘴件部段49的打开端53吸气,并把控制装置设置成按照来自该压力降检测装置的信号,控制电源41对阀门35和加热器33以及任何其它被供电部件的供电。
一种适用的压力降检测装置是一种喷吹启动的传感器,形式为由MicroSwitch division of Honeywell,Inc.,Freeport,Ill.制造的Model 163PC01D35硅传感器,或者由SensSym,Inc.,Milpitas,Calif.制造的一种SLP004D 0-4”H2O Basic Sensor Element。其它已知的流量传感装置比如采用热线风速仪原理的那些装置相信也适用于与气雾发生器21一起使用。与压力降检测装置相比,使用空气流动检测装置51对于吸入装置类型的应用来说是当前优选的,这是因为预期与压力降检测装置相比使用者将比较容易启动空气流动检测装置。
对于气雾发生装置21当前预期的应用为给药的应用。对于这样的应用,以及在气雾发生装置21可能使用的其它应用中,控制装置43可以为一个定时器59,用来对控制装置控制电源41对阀门35和加热器33和其它部件供电的频率进行控制。这样,气雾发生装置21可以自动地限制使用者可以操纵该气雾发生装置的频率,从而容易限制偶尔的错误使用或过度的剂量。还有,为了帮助护理者(caregiver)照顾他们的病人,可以使气雾发生器21与远离控制装置43的一个遥控装置61结合。该遥控装置61最好能够调节定时器59,调整控制装置控制电源41对阀门35和加热器33和其它部件供电的频率。这样,当护理者希望增加或减少使用者可以操纵该气雾发生器的频率时,护理者可以在他与使用者分开一定距离的情况下这样做。这样,使用者可以有较大的活动能力,否则,它可能需要亲自去看他的护理者,得到他们的处理方案。
也可以把控制装置43和(如果有的话)遥控装置61的构形做成容许对该气雾发生器21的其它被供电的部件进行调节或进行远距离调节,比如调节阀门35打开的时间长度,以及电源41把电供应给加热器的时间长度。这样,在例如腔室47中的气体G的压力下降或者由电源41供电的速率降低的情况下,比如在不同的温度下使用该气雾发生器,在柔性容器45中的材料被用完,或者构成电源的电池的电量减少的情况下,可以向上和向下调节剂量,并且调节该气雾发生器21的运行条件,以便保持相同的运行状态。
控制装置的定时器59最好与一个指示器63结合,比如一个蜂鸣器或者定时器的产生光的部分,或者,例如用电连接到定时器上,用来指示控制装置43可以控制电源41对阀门35个加热器33以及其它的部件的供电。在例如使用气雾发生器21散布药物的情况下,指示器63用来提醒使用者是给药的时间了。如果愿意或必须,该指示器63也可以用遥控装置61操纵。也可以使用该指示器63对使用者指示自气雾发生器21被启动以来的时间长度,比如在使用该气雾发生器作为一个吸入装置,并且,设想使用者在吸入之后屏住他的或她的呼吸一段时间的情况下,用该指示器63指示已经过去的时间是多长。
气雾发生器21也可以包括一个显示装置65,比如一个LCD显示装置,用来显示信息,比如控制装置43控制电源41对阀门和加热器供电的次数。该显示装置65可以例如显示气雾发生器21已经被操作的次数,例如,1或2或3,或者还剩下的操作次数,这可以以例如物料源37的大小以及每次打开和关闭阀门35被散布的材料的数量为基础,或者以电源41的寿命比如电池剩余的寿命为基础。可以设置相同的或附加的显示装置,显示其它的信息,比如在压力腔室47中的压力和电源41的功率水平。还有,气雾发生器21可以装有多种传感器和显示器,提供在显示装置65中显示的反馈信息,例如帮助使用者学习如何适当地使用气雾发生器作为一个吸入装置,比如设置测量在完成一次吸入后一次吸气的体积和时间的传感器,甚至提供在一次吸气过程中的反馈信息,帮助使用者采用适当的吸气曲线(inhalation profile)。最好由控制装置43控制显示装置65,并由电源41对它供电。
控制装置43可以是可以单独编程的,比如由一位药剂师编程,控制气雾发生器21按照一个药方散布药物,即药物的量,频率等,并且,以可以防止不适当地使用该气雾发生器的信息进行编程。这样,可以使用类型较少的气雾发生器21用于范围很宽的药物。最好使特别的气雾发生器21对于不同种类的药物达到最佳,并随后例如由药剂师对具体的药或药方进行“细调”。
也可以把气雾发生器21的程序编成在一段时间之后禁止使用。这样,可以防止使用过期的药物。这可以通过例如使电池电源41是不可更换的,或者通过使电池和/或控制装置保持日期和时间的纪录并防止在超过一个特定的日期和时间以后使用实现。
尽管不希望受到理论的限制,但是,取决于对一些因素的选择,当前理解这些因素主要包括由电源41对加热器33供电的速率,管27的直径,以及要被蒸发并作为气雾送出的材料,最好把气雾发生器21具体地设计成产生有某些所要求的特点的气雾。对于许多应用,特别是对于给药的应用,最好把按照本发明的气雾发生器21设计成产生中等质量颗粒直径小于3微米的气雾,更可取得是小于2微米,更可取的是在0.2与2微米之间,更可取的是在0.5与1微米之间。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,但是,取决于对一些因素的选择,当前理解这些因素主要包括管27的长度,加压装置39由物料源37供应材料的压力,以及由电源41供电的速率,确定供应材料的速率和在管内蒸发材料的速率。最好把气雾发生器21设计成以大于每秒钟1毫克的速率供应和蒸发材料。
可能希望产生由不同的液体成份形成的气雾,由于多种原因,这些液体成份可能最好分开保存,直到希望形成气雾的时刻为止。如在图3中所示,气雾发生器的另一实施例121除了关于气雾发生器21描述过的特点以外,可以包括液体形式的第二种材料的源137,最好作为改进的第一部件13的一部分,把它与来自第一物料源37的材料一起提供给管27。第二种物料源137在加热器33前的一点171与管27连通。电源41最好对一个分开的阀门135供电,并且,控制装置43控制该阀门使得加压装置39当阀门35处于打开的状态时可以把第二种物料源137中的材料由第二种物料源引进管27中。如果愿意或必须,可以在不同时刻打开和关闭阀门35和阀门135。
第二种物料源137最好包括第二柔性容器145。加压装置39最好包括第二柔性容器145设在其中的第二腔室147,以及密封在第二腔室中并围绕着第二柔性容器的第二种加压气体G2。可以把加压气体G和第二种加压气体G2加压到不同的压力,使得容易以不同的速率把材料和第二种材料送到管27中。如果愿意或必须,可以把柔性容器45和第二柔性容器145设在相同的加压腔室中。可以设置另外的物料源和其它成份,以便产生有更多成份的气雾。

气雾发生器221最好包括一个腔室249,比如嘴件部段。管27和第二管227的第一端29和229最好设在腔室249中,彼此靠近。腔室249最好有足够的尺寸和构形,使得由管27和第二管227膨胀出的被蒸发的材料和被蒸发的第二种材料一起可以与周围的空气混合,使得被蒸发的材料和被蒸发的第二种材料分别形成第一和第二气雾,第一和第二气雾彼此混合,形成包括第一和第二气雾的组合气雾。
在参考图1描述的实施例中,可以通过提供在物料源37中的材料形成组合的气雾,在该物料源中包括在材料被蒸发之前混合在一起的两种或多种成份。尽管在物料源37中可以是两种或多种液体,也可以在作为一种液体材料的溶液中悬浮固体颗粒,或者把固体颗粒溶解在一种液体材料中。如果愿意或必须,当悬浮在溶液中时,固体颗粒可以有比气雾形式的材料颗粒要大的平均直径。当然,在参考着图3和4描述的实施例中,固体颗粒可以悬浮在作为一种液体材料的溶液中。
如已经注意到的,对于气雾发生器21的优选的加压装置39为sepra容器类型的装置。在图5中示出了有另一种加压装置339的气雾发生器321。在这一实施例中,物料源337最好包括第二根管345,它有第一端和第二端345a,345b。第二管345的第一端345a连接到管27的第二端31上。加压装置339包括充满加压气体G的一个腔室347。第二管345的第二端345b设在腔室347中,并且对于腔室是打开的。物料源337,第二管345,以及管27最好形成改进的第一部件323的一部分。
如在图6A-6C中看到的,最好通过首先打开在管27中的阀门35用材料把物料源337充满,随后把第二管345的打开的第二端345b浸入液体材料L中(图6A)。在第二管345浸入其中的液体材料充满第二管之后,就把阀门35关闭。由液体材料中把第二管345抽出,由于阀门是关闭的,所以充满第二管的液体材料留在第二管中(图6B),即,空气不能进入第二管中的液体材料中。随后,把第二管345放在腔室347中,并对该腔室加压(图6C)。当把阀门35打开时,腔室中的压力迫使在第二管345中的液体材料进入管27中,在那里,加热器27可以把它蒸发。
在制作参考着图1中所示的实施例描述的气雾发生器21的一种方法中,关于管27设置加热器33,使得可以对该管加热。管27的第二端31连接到要被蒸发的物料源37上。设置可以打开并可以关闭的阀门35,使得物料源37与管27之间可以连通起来,并且可以停止这种连通。
设置了加压装置39,用来当阀门35处于打开的状态时,把物料源37中的材料由物料源引进管27中。把阀门35连接到电源41上,用来打开和关闭该阀门。把加热器35连接到电源41上。把电源41连接到控制装置43上,该控制装置用来控制由电源41到加热器33和阀门35以及到气雾发生器的任何其它部件的供电。
设置加压装置39的步骤最好包括把物料源37设置在腔室47中,并把该腔室加压,最好加压到大约两个大气压。物料源37最好包括一个柔性容器45。然而,其它实施例也是可能的。例如,如参考图5和6A-6B所描述的,物料源337可以包括第二管345,它有第一端和第二端345a,345b。第二管的第一端连接到管27的第二端31上,并且,第二管的第二端345b设在腔室347中。
在制作按照本发明的气雾发生器21的过程中,特别优选的是:关于它们彼此设置加热器33,阀门35,物料源37和加压装置39,形成第一部件23,并且,关于它们彼此设置电源41和控制装置43,形成第二部件25,并且,第二部件可以装到第一部件上,也可以由第一部件上拆下。这样,可以把第二部件制作成一个永久的装置,气雾发生器的大多数或所有较费钱的部件与此第二部件有关,而第一部件23最好包括气雾发生器的消耗性的或不太费钱的部件,第一部件可以是一次性的。可以提供气雾发生器21的不同特点,使部件23和25中任何一个对于一种特殊的应用是适当的。然而,按照当前设想的气雾发生器作为医疗的吸入装置的优选应用,相信在部件23和25上零件的设置适当地分配或多或少的可丢弃的零件。
使用气雾发生器21最好由使用者把第一信号提供给控制装置43,表明使用者想使用此气雾发生器。可以由使用者压一个按钮58(图2中的虚线)提供此第一信号,但是,特别是在气雾发生器21被用作一个吸入装置的情况下,最好由某种形式的吸气启动的装置提供此第一信号,比如由一个压力降检测装置53提供,或者,更可取的,由一个空气流动检测装置51提供。
对此第一信号作出响应,控制装置43将第二信号送到电源41,使电源打开可以打开并可以关闭的阀门35。阀门35最好设在管27与物料源37之间。阀门35的打开使得来自物料源37的材料可以由物料源流进管27中。
最好借助于加压装置使来自物料源37的材料由物料源流进管27中。物料源37最好包括柔性容器45,加压装置39使在容器中的材料由物料源流出。加压装置39最好包括用加压气体G充满的腔室47,柔性容器45就设在该腔室中。在如参考图5和6A-6C描述的另一实施例中,物料源337包括第二管345,它有第一端和第二端345a,345b。第二管345的第一端345a连接到管27的第二端31上,加压装置339使在物料源337中的材料由物料源流出。加压装置339包括用加压气体G充满的腔室347,第二管345的第二端345b设在该腔室中。
控制装置43对第一信号作出响应把第三信号送到电源41,把电供应给关于管27设置的加热器33,对该管加热。加热器33把来自物料源37的材料在管27中加热到蒸发温度,使得材料蒸发,并由管的第一端29膨胀出。
最好把按照本发明的气雾发生器的结构做成遵照发明人已经认识到的某些设计原理。这些设计关系使得气雾发生器的设计带有某种耐用性,特别是关于周围温度和容器压力的变化,使得可以确保发送气雾的速率基本上不变。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,但是,一种关系包括气雾的发送速率(D),理解到:它与加到要蒸发的液体上的压力即压力(P)基本上是线性关系,遵照下述关系:D=k1P,其中k1基本上是常数,并取决于对特定的气雾发生器特别的设计因素。
可以对控制装置43进行编程,确保当气体G的压力下降时,在运行中适应这些变化将发生某些改变。例如,当气体G的压力下降时,发送相同数量的材料将要用较长的时间。因此,可以对控制装置进行编程,使得例如保持阀门35打开较长的时间。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,但是,在流动通道为毛细管的一个圆孔的情况下,对于一个给定的气雾发送速率D,可以考虑到管径对颗粒尺寸的影响选择管径d。
希望一个吸入装置把可以精确重复体积的药物送给使用者。在发展通过把送到被加热的流动通道比如一根管的流体蒸发运行的吸入装置的过程中,希望把可以重复的并且严格的体积送到被加热的管中。因此,用于按照本发明的吸入装置的计量装置最好能够可靠地把一致体积的流体送到吸入装置的产生气雾的部分(例如,被加热的管)。
按照本发明的一个实施例,提供了一种吸入装置,其中与含药物的流体接触的一个或多个部件在特定数目的发送吸入剂量(例如200)之后可以丢弃。因此,可能希望这样的吸入装置的计量装置有简单并且便宜的设计,包括数目最少的变湿的部件。
按照本发明的一个优选实施例的计量装置包括含药物流体的一个高压源以及一个计量腔室,该装置提供流体的严格的并且可重复的散布体积。该计量装置最好包括数量少的变湿部件,并且,制造起来简单。
为了更好地理解本发明,下面的详细描述参考附图,其中,本发明的示例性的实施例是说明性的和描述性的。
在图7中示意性地示出了包括一个示例性计量装置403的一个吸入装置401。在这一示例中,在壳体406中的旋转阀门405包含一个计量腔室407。该旋转阀门405位于一个流体的高压源408与包括一根管409的被加热的流体通道之间,在该通道中将流体蒸发,产生用来被使用者吸入的气雾。可以用任何适当的装置对该管409加热。例如,在图7中也示意性地示出了一个电源411和电接头413,用来通过一个加热器(未画出)对管409进行加热。
在这一示例中,在旋转阀门中的计量腔室407包括一个孔415,此孔包含一个滑动的或“浮动的”活塞417。在孔415的每一端的第一和第二开孔419,421的直径可以比活塞421的直径小,使得活塞被包含在孔415中。然而,可以通过任何适用的装置比如通过在壳体406中设置适当尺寸的流动通道把活塞417保持在孔415中,该通道包含在孔中的活塞。把一个预定的体积确定为孔415的体积与活塞417的体积之间的差。
按照这一装置,活塞417的每个行程送出预定的体积。例如,高压流体进入旋转阀门的第一开口419,并使滑动活塞417由滑动活塞417邻近孔中的第一开口419的第一位置运动到滑动活塞417邻近孔中的第二开口421的第二位置,从而把预定体积的流体装进旋转阀门405中。当旋转阀门405转动使孔的第二开口421与高压流体源408处于流体连通的状态时,滑动活塞417在流体压力的作用下由第一位置运动到第二位置,把预定的体积由第一开口419中送出,送进被加热的管409中,并通过第二开口421把一个新的预定体积装进旋转阀门417中。这样,在图7中示出的示例中,旋转阀门405每转动180度将同时送出预定体积的流体并装入下一个预定体积的流体。可以通过任何适用的技术例如通过用手启动连接到适当的齿轮或连杆上的一个按钮或者通过电动比如通过启动一个开关使连接到阀门上的一个马达工作使旋转阀门转动。与图9和10中所示的剂量计量装置联系起来更详细地讨论了一种按钮启动器。
为了防止流体泄漏,活塞417最好包括一个或多个滑动密封件比如O环425,它们也把活塞的装载侧与活塞417的送出侧分开。把活塞417的装载侧与活塞417的送出侧密封起来的其它装置也在本发明的范围以内。例如,可以把活塞417设计成其方式和/或制作材料提供一个或多个部段,这些部段匹配地与孔接合,可滑动地把送出侧与装载侧密封起来。
滑动活塞417的体积与孔415的体积之间的差确定了预定的体积。例如,直径为0.093英寸的活塞和在孔415中0.048英寸的行程可以送出5微升的体积。可以简单地通过改变剂量腔室407的单一尺寸改变预定的体积。例如,可以通过变短活塞417或者增大孔415的长度从而增加活塞417的行程增大该预定的体积。因此,可以容易地和不费钱地改变该预定的体积,适应儿童的吸入剂量和成人的吸入剂量,并且,适应对于一定范围的药物所要求的变化的发送体积。
按照一个改进的实施例,可以用一个紧固在孔415内的柔性薄膜427替代活塞。在图8中示意性地示出了这类旋转阀门的一个示例,其中,当充满孔的另一侧的来自高压流体源408的流体使薄膜427移动时,把在孔的一侧的体积送出。被薄膜427移动的孔415在薄膜427的送出侧的体积确定预定的体积。移动件是一个薄膜的优点在于:高压流体有较少的机会在移动件上流失,或者由于沿着孔的不完全的运动使移动件失误。
希望当流体由该高压源流出时高压流体源408保持一个基本上不变的压力。这就是说,最好被源408送出的流体的压力在发送第一次送出的体积与发送最后一次送出的体积之间没有明显的变化。可以以任何适当的方式对流体源408加压。例如,如在图7和8中所示,可以使用一个弹性件比如一个弹簧429使压在流体上的一个活塞431偏置。另外,一种加压气体可以使压在流体上或压在包容在一个密封的可压扁的袋子中的流体上的一个活塞偏置。当使用弹簧和活塞机构对流体源加压时,活塞的行程与包含在源中的流体的体积相比最好较小,使流体流出时压力的改变降到最小。
在图9和10中示意性地示出了用来驱动旋转阀门405的机构的一个示例,其中,可以用一个装有弹簧的按钮435驱动旋转阀门405。每一次压下该装有弹簧的按钮435时,该旋转阀门405转动大约180度,从而由孔415送出预定体积的流体。该按钮机构包括一个装有弹簧的按钮435,把它可作枢轴转动地连接到一个棘轮臂437上。该棘轮臂437的近端439可作枢轴转动地装到按钮437上,而棘轮臂437的远端441与带有在棘轮臂437的远端441的一个凹口447的第一齿轮435上的一个销柱443接合。此第一齿轮包括六个销柱443,彼此离开60度。当压下按钮435时,棘轮臂437在六个销柱443中之一上施加作用力,在顺时针方向上推第一齿轮445。在一端把一个弹簧449装到吸入装置的一部分上,这部分关于棘轮臂437的运动是不动的。把弹簧的另一端449装到棘轮臂437上,在已经把按钮435压下之后,弹簧的这一端把棘轮臂437拉回到起始位置。在棘轮臂437的远端441的凹口447的位置邻近第一齿轮445的下一个销柱。
第一齿轮445与第二齿轮451接合,此第二齿轮在连接到旋转阀门405上的一根轴452上。当轴452转动时,孔415相对于流体源408转动。例如,第一齿轮445可以包括60个齿,而第二齿轮451可以包括20个齿,使得当第一齿轮转动60度时,第二齿轮451转动180度。
希望在排放预定体积流体的毛细管型气雾吸入装置中对流动通道的加热进行定时,使得在该流动通道中流体可以有效地被蒸发。一个示例性的定时装置包括在第二齿轮451上的一对触点或突起表面453,提供彼此大约离开180度的暴露的端部455。把装有弹簧的电触点或开关457连接到对于流动通道的一个加热机构(未画出)上。每次它与表面457的一端接触时触发装有弹簧的电触点或开关457。这样,按照这一实施例,包含旋转阀门405的轴452每转动180度将送出一个预定的体积,装入一个预定的体积,并且,触发加热机构,对所安装的流动通道加热。
如在图7中描述的实施例中提到的那样,希望保持在高压流体源中的压力不变。当流体源被消耗时使压力损失降到最少的机构的一个示例在图9中示出。在这一示例中,计量腔室407与包括两个高压流体贮室459的一个源在流体上连通。每个贮室459有一个装有弹簧的活塞461,它的行程将比有相同截面积的一个单一的弹簧和活塞装置作为两个活塞和贮室装置之一送出整个源体积的情况短。这样,可以使加在初始充满条件下和后来被消耗条件下的流体上的压力差为最小。
在图11-13中示意性地示出了按照本发明的计量装置463的另一个示例。在这一示例中,计量装置464是有一个弹性部分467的发送通道465的一部分。含药物的流体源469与该发送通道465在流体上连通。使发送通道465的弹性部分467变形,由该发送通道469中送出一个预定体积的流体。
图11A-11C示意性地示出了按照本发明的计量装置的一个实施例463。在这一示例中,发送通道465由一根弹性管471形成。此弹性管471可以由硅橡胶或其它已知的弹性材料制成。第一变形件比如一个挤压滚轮473使弹性管471变形,使得防止流体通过滚轮473的下游的管流动。在第一变形件473的上游是第二变形件,比如一个计量滚轮475。把该计量滚轮475的构形做成行进一个预定的路径477。在该路径477的至少一部分中,计量滚轮475作为一个移动件,当它与弹性管471接触时使弹性管471的一部分变形,并在其中包含的流体上施加压力。同时,使挤压滚轮473足够地运动,使得可以由管471中送出预定体积的流体。可以通过被计量滚轮475产生的压力或者通过一个适当的机械机构像在图12和13中示出的装置把挤压滚轮473抽出或升高。
预定的体积由弹性管471的内径和被密封起来并被计量滚轮475挤空的管471的长度确定。如在说明本发明的另一个示例中那样,可以通过改变计量装置的单一尺寸改变预定的体积。例如,为了增加该预定体积,可以增大弹性管471的内径或者滚轮475的路径。
计量装置463的这个示例的一个优点在于:可以把流体隔离在弹性管中,这样避免了与运动部件的直接接触。同样,在可重新使用的吸入装置中,可以把流体源设计成在一个耗尽的流体源已经送出预定数量的计量体积之后用一个有装在其上的发送通道465的卡盘(cartridge)替代。
图12和13示意性地示出了按照本发明的计量装置的一个示例463。在这一示例中,连接到一个活塞481上的弹簧479对流体源469加压。计量腔室483是发送通道485的一部分,该通道包括一个弹性部分487。发送通道485的弹性部分487由密封在发送通道485的一部分上的一个弹性薄片制成(图13)。该弹性薄片489可以由硅橡胶或其它适用的弹性材料制成。
在所示出的示例中,包括五个滚轮493的轮491位于邻近发送通道485的弹性部分487的位置。每个滚轮493与相邻的滚轮分开72度。把轮491设在邻近发送通道485的弹性部分487的位置,使得当该轮491旋转时,滚轮493的中凸的表面使弹性薄片489变形,进入发送通道485的中凸的表面中,并压在该表面上。
如在图12和13中所示,发送通道在与薄片489接触的滚轮493之间的那部分确定了要发送到吸入装置的液体经过计量的体积。当轮491旋转72度时,与弹性薄片489接触滚轮493使在滚轮之间包含在发送通道485中的流体向下游方向运动,把这些流体发送到吸入装置的散布机构。当滚轮493通过计量腔室483的入口484时,高压流体源469充满通道485。这样,可以通过发送通道把预定体积的流体压进吸入装置的被加热的流动通道中,该通道送出蒸发的流体,形成气雾。在两个相邻的滚轮之间所包含的发送通道的体积确定预定的体积,此体积取决于在轮491的相邻滚轮493之间的距离。在图12和13中所示的实施例中,轮491每一次旋转72度,送出一个经过计量的体积。
轮491在轴495上转动,可以用手动方式或者用机械的或电动的机构使该轴转动。例如,可以用传统的弹簧驱动的钟表马达497使轴495转动。按照这一装置,除了预定的体积之外,可以控制送出的流体的流动速率。钟表马达497对轮491转动预定的距离的时间长短和速率进行控制。这样,可以在预定的速率下计量出预定的体积。
可以采用传统的注塑技术制造按照本发明的计量腔室的部件。可以由塑料树脂或已知的适合于吸入装置应用的其它材料注塑出这些部件。
按照本发明,可以提供一种计量装置,它在吸入装置中发送出可以重复的,严格体积的含药物流体。此外,按照本发明的计量装置有非常少的变湿部件,并且制造起来简单。因此,按照本发明的计量装置很好地适用于在吸入装置中特别是加热的毛吸管气雾吸入装置中应用。
尽管已经按照一个优选实施例示出了并描述了本发明,但是,要认识到,其中可以做出改变和变化,而不偏离如在权利要求书中所叙述的本发明。例如,气雾发生器可以包括用来手动操作阀门35的装置,即,不是通过检测空气流量或压力降启动阀门,而是把控制器43的构形做成当收到一个显示阀门启动的信号时进行一个按程序的加热循环。这样的装置还可以包括(电的或机械的)装置,一旦用机械方式把它打开之后,使阀门35在打开状态保持一个预定的时间间隔。还有,嘴件是一个可选件,不需要被包括在吸入装置中,或采用按照本发明的气雾发生器的其它装置中。

Claims (31)

1.一种气雾发生器,它包括:
具有一个入口和一个出口的流动通道;
相对所述流动通道设置的一个加热器,使得可以至少对流动通道的一部分加热;
要被蒸发的物料的源,所述流动通道的入口与所述物料源连通;
操作地设置在所述物料源与所述流动通道之间的一个阀门,所述阀门可以打开或关闭所述物料源与所述流动通道的所述入口之间的连通;
一个加压装置,当所述阀门处于打开位置时,使所述物料源中的材料由所述物料源引进所述流动通道中;
使所述加热器和所述阀门工作的一个电源;以及
一个控制装置,它控制所述电源对所述加热器和所述阀门的供电。
2.按照权利要求1所述的气雾发生器,其特征在于,所述物料源包括一个柔性容器,而所述加压装置包括一个腔室,所述柔性容器设在所述腔室中,所述物料源还包括密封在所述腔室中并围绕着所述柔性容器的加压气体,所述加压气体为氮气和/或被加压到2个大气压。
3.按照权利要求2所述的气雾发生器,其特征在于,对所述柔性容器加压,使得所述气体的压力当所述柔性容器是空的时比当所述柔性容器是充满的时低百分之十。
4.按照权利要求2所述的气雾发生器,其特征在于,其还包括一个压力传感器,把它设置成感应腔室中的压力,把所述压力传感器设置成把表示在所述腔室中的压力的一个信号送到所述控制装置,并且,把所述控制装置设置成对电源进行控制,以按照来自所述压力传感器的信号调节把电供应给所述阀门的时间长短。
5.按照权利要求1所述的气雾发生器,其特征在于,其还包括一个空气流动检测装置,用来确定什么时刻在所述流动通道的出口附近已经存在预定的空气流动速率,把所述空气流动检测装置设置成对所述控制装置发送一个指示已经存在预定的空气流动速率的信号,并把所述控制装置设置成对来自所述空气流动检测装置的信号作出响应控制所述电源对所述阀门和所述加热器的供电。
6.按照权利要求1所述的气雾发生器,其特征在于,其还包括一个压力降检测装置,它确定什么时刻在所述流动通道的出口附近已经存在一个预定的压力降,把所述压力降检测装置设置成对所述控制装置发送一个指示已经存在预定的压力降的信号,并把所述控制装置设置成对来自压力降检测装置的信号作出响应控制所述电源对所述阀门和所述加热器的供电。
7.按照权利要求1所述的气雾发生器,其特征在于,
(a)所述控制装置包括一个定时器,用来对所述控制装置控制所述电源对所述阀门和所述加热器供电的频率进行控制;和/或

具有一个入口和一个出口的第二流动通道;

要被蒸发的第二物料的源,所述第二流动通道的入口与所述第二物料源连通;以及
可以操作地设置在所述第二物料源与所述第二流动通道之间的第二阀门,所述第二阀门可以打开或关闭所述第二物料源与所述第二流动通道的入口之间的连通;
第二加压装置,当所述第二阀门处于打开位置时,使所述第二物料源中的材料由所述第二物料源引进所述第二流动通道中;并且

相对于流动通道设置一个加热器,使得可以对所述流动通道加热,所述流动通道具有一个入口和一个出口;
把所述流动通道的入口连接到一个要被蒸发的物料的源上;
在所述物料源与所述流动通道之间设置一个可以打开或关闭的阀门;
设置一个加压装置,当所述阀门处于打开位置时,所述加压装置使所述物料源中的材料由所述物料源引进所述流动通道中;
把所述阀门连接到一个电源上,所述电源可以打开或关闭所述阀门;
把所述加热器连接到所述电源上;
把所述电源连接到一个控制装置上,它控制由所述电源对所述加热器和所述阀门的供电。
24.按照权利要求23所述的方法,其特征在于,

26.按照权利要求23所述的方法,其特征在于,把所述加压装置由所述物料源供应材料的压力和/或所述电源把电供应给所述加热器的速率选择成使得以大于每秒钟1毫克的速率供应材料,并使材料在所述流动通道中蒸发。
27.按照权利要求23所述的方法,其特征在于,其还包括设置所述加热器、所述流动通道、所述阀门、所述物料源和所述加压装置形成第一部件,设置所述电源和所述控制装置形成第二部件,可拆开地把所述第二部件装到所述第一部件上。
28.一种产生气雾的方法,它包括如下步骤:
产生表示使用者想要产生气雾的第一信号,送到控制装置;
把对第一信号作出响应的第二信号送到所述电源,使所述电源打开一个可打开或关闭的阀门,所述阀门设在要被蒸发的物料的源与流动通道之间,所述阀门的打开使来自所述物料源的材料可以由所述物料源流进所述流动通道中;
使来自所述物料源的材料由所述物料源流进所述流动通道中;
把对所述第一信号作出响应的第三信号送到所述电源,把电供应给相对于所述流动通道设置的加热器,加热所述流动通道;以及
用所述加热器在所述流动通道中把来自所述物料源的材料加热到蒸发温度,使得材料蒸发,并由所述流动通道的出口膨胀出。
29.按照权利要求28所述的方法,其特征在于,由压一个按钮的使用者提供第一信号,或者,由在一个嘴件上吸气的使用者提供第一信号,其方式为使得设在流动通道出口附近的一个空气流动检测装置动作,或者,由在一个嘴件上吸气的使用者提供第一信号,其方式为使得设在流动通道出口附近的一个用喷吹启动的传感器动作。
30.按照权利要求28所述的方法,其特征在于,所述物料源包括一个柔性容器,一个加压装置使所述物料源中的材料由物料源流出。
31.按照权利要求30所述的方法,其特征在于,所述加压装置包括用加压气体充满的一个腔室,所述柔性容器设在所述腔室中。
