Abstract
本发明提供了一种使光学可读介质(20)不可读的方法和装置。方法包括步骤:(a)结介质提供一种降低编入了信息的表面之反射率的光学活性机制:(b)将介质暴露在光辐照之下以读出信息;和(c)在曝光步骤期间启动光学活化机制的工作。在另一方面,光学活性机制导致读出光束散焦,由此降低读出光束从编入了信息的表面的反射。在另一实施例中,本发明的方法使层的表面变形,导致读出光束偏差或不能正确地停在轨道上。在另一实施例中,除去表面部分而暴露在大气环境中,例如通过蒸发或升华。
Description
本申请根据35U.S.C.§119(e)要求以共同待定的1998年6月25日提交的专利申请60/090,682为基础的优先权。该专利申请的内容在此引为参考。
本发明涉及光学可读数据存储介质,尤其涉及一项在至少使介质读出一次之后变为不可读的技术。
通常希望分配记录在介质上的软件或其它信息时保证只有一方当事人能够读出记录的信息。例如,出售计算机软件的公司将会发现只能由购买者从盘上读出软件并把软件转移或安装到计算机存储器如硬盘上而避免其他人继续存取软件的有益之处。但是,事实证明这是一个尚未解决的难题。
当信息分布在读/写介质上如随处可见的软盘上时,将其安装之后可能会导致安装的软件部分或全部抹除信息。不幸的是,这些信息可以分布在写入受保护的盘上,因此使得这种抹除不可能。另外,任何依赖于计算机软件执行的保护机制有被其他的计算机软件对付而失效的可能。
美国专利U.S.5,815,484公开了一种具有反射金属层的光盘,金属层上带有多个数据结构(凹凸点)和至少叠置在一些数据结构上的活性化合物。活性化合物是一种光致变色化合物,在遇到读出光和/或大气中的氧气时从光学透明状态变到光学不透明状态。光致变色化合物的变暗避免了读出装置探测到足够量的读出光,因而有效地使得光盘不可读。
此方法至少有一个可察觉的缺点在于光致变色的变暗通常是不可逆的,这可能会使这项技术失败。
本发明的第一目的和优点在于提供一种改进的系统和方法,使得光学可读介质例如但并不限定于激光盘、微型盘(CD)或数字视盘(DVD)变为不可读。
本发明的第二目的和优点在于提供一种改进的系统和方法,使得光学可读介质在至少被读出一次后永久性地不可读。
本发明的第三目的和优点在于提供一种破坏或减弱含金属层的反射率的光学活化机制,从而使得光学可读介质不可读。
本发明的另一目的和优点在于提供一种更改透明层以导致读出光束偏差的光学活化机制,从而使得光学可读介质不可读。
本发明的另一目的和优点在于提供一种依赖于非大气中的氧气,如预载入或产生在光学可读介质层中的氧气来更改介质的光学性质的机制,从而使得光学可读介质不可读。
本发明的另一目的和优点在于提供一种依赖于更改光学可读介质光学性质的蒸发技术的机制,从而使得光学可读介质不可读。
本发明的另一目的和优点在于提供一种改变光学可读介质的表面特性的机制,从而在企图读出介质期间有害地影响读出装置的跟踪过程。
本发明的另一目的和优点在于提供一种促使光学可读介质的表面构形改变的机制,从而有害地影响读出装置的反馈和跟踪过程,反之,由此影响读出的准确性。
通过本发明实施例中的方法和装置克服前述及其它问题并实现本发明的目的和优点。
在一个方面中,本发明提供了一种在播放过程中使光学可读介质不可读的方法。该方法包括步骤:(a)给介质提供一种降低编入了信息的表面之反射率的光学活性机制;(b)将介质暴露在光辐照之下以读出信息;(c)启动光学活化机制的工作。在此实施例中,启动步骤包括:(d)在设置于介质上的一层中产生单氧;和(e)单氧与含金属的层反应,以氧化含金属层的表面,从而降低表面的反射率。产生氧的步骤包括通过设置于层和含金属层之问的散射位垒散布单氧的步骤。
在另一个方面中,光学活化机制致使读出光束散焦,由此降低读出光束从编入了信息的表面的反射率。
在一个实施例中,该方法在设置于介质上的层中产生光强梯度;并且响应于产生的梯度,使层表面发生导致读出光束偏差和/或反过来影响跟踪过程的变形,致使读出衰减和准确性的丧失。在这种情况下,提供步骤提供包括含偶氮苯聚合物的层。在另一种实施例中,表面层可以与大气中的元素如氧发生反应,从而通过引发表面构形的变化而退化跟踪过程,但不引发表面层透光特性的任何显著的变化。
在另一实施例中,起动步骤包括辐照包括部分介质的光固聚合物区域;和响应于辐照,光聚聚合物,由此改变聚合物的折射率,导致读出光束的偏差。
本发明还包含按照前述方法工作、并按照本发明的技术构成的光学编码介质。
根据本发明的另一实施例,光学可读介质具有一个用于对可通过光读出的信息编码的图案化结构,并且还包括一个由易挥发的成份和至少另一个成份组成的层。通过蒸发或升华除去至少一些易挥发成份,导致至少光吸收或散射或表面粗糙度中的一项增加,还有剩余成份,由此使得至少一部分编码的信息不可读。其它成份可包括内酯染料,如结晶紫内酯,易挥发成份例如可以是NMP(N-甲基吡咯烷)。在另一个实施例中,有机材料如CsF或KBr涂敷在盘的表面并当暴露在水蒸汽或二氧化碳下时提供表面光雾度,由此增大散射和减小信噪比,并降低读出的准确度。
在此提供了一种使得光学可读介质不可读的方法。该方法包括步骤:(a)给介质提供一个具有平面构形的表面层;和(b)在光学可读介质的第一次读出期间或随后,把至少一部分平面的表面构形修改成非平面的表面构形。这通过利用感光聚合物、把一种物质从表面层中除去到大气中、或与大气中的一种物质反应等方式中的至少一种方式实现。后面的方法可能不会限制地改变表面层对读出光束的透明度。从平面表面层构形向非平面表面层构形的偏差至少足以有害地影响产生读出光的读出装置的跟踪操作。

参见图1,该图是结合了本发明一个或多个特征的用于读出光学可读盘的常规光学扫描系统简图。虽然将参考图中所示的实施例对本发明进行描述,但应该理解本发明可以以其它形式的实施例实施。另外,还可以使用任何适当的大小、形状或类型的材料或元件。
在开始时还应注意到,这里使用的“光学编码的”或“光学可读的”介质时用来覆盖多种储存数据、音频和/或视频信息的装置,当光束(即可以是可见光也可以是非可见光)照射到装置上时可以读出其中存储的数据、音频和/或视频信息。这些装置包括但不局限于激光盘、密集盘(CDs)、CD-ROMs和数字视盘或通用盘(DVDs),以及特定种类的磁带。通常,本发明感兴趣的装置与一些能够改变装置对读出光的反射率、使得逻辑1位可以与逻辑0位区分开的结构类型结合。通过使得这种装置“不可读”,应该理解不需要使整个装置不可读。例如,可能需要只使得根目录或子目录(directory ofcontent)的较小部分不可读,以致于整个装置变得无法使用,或装置的一些预定部分变得无法使用。使装置不可使用还包括反过来影响读出装置的光学反馈和跟踪过程,如改变表面构形。例如,在这种情况下,读出激光聚焦调节不能迅速作用到足以改变表面的轮廓,导致不能维持正确地跟踪。已经发现这表现为在密集盘音乐扇区的“跳变”,或者负面影响输出的准确度。
可以是常规结构的光学扫描系统1一般包括一个盘驱动器10和一个光学扫描头30。盘驱动器10一般用于相对于光学扫描头30移动光学可读盘20,如CD-ROM。在图1所述的实施例中,光学扫描头30位于光盘20之下以扫描盘的下表面,而在其它的实施例中扫描头可以定位成对盘的上表面扫描。扫描头30最好由一个可移动的托架或臂(未示出)支撑,使得头30可以相对于盘的中心移动。例如,扫描头可以相对于盘20的中心径向平移或围绕盘的中心圆周平移。在另一种实施例中,光学扫描头可以相对于光学可读盘保持固定。当盘20移动到扫描头30之上时,光学头30读出设置在盘20上的光学可读数据结构23(见图2)。
还参见图1,盘驱动器10包括一个电机12,一个驱动轴14和一个盘支撑物或卡盘16。驱动轴14把电机12可操作地连接到卡盘16。所以,当电机12被激励时,其经驱动轴14旋转卡盘16。卡盘16包括适当的支撑装置(未示出),当卡盘16通过电机12旋转时,支撑装置将盘20稳定地支撑在其上。电机12用于以预定的速度旋转卡盘16和固定在其上的盘20。电机12以可变的旋转速度操纵旋转盘20,以致于盘对恒定线速度运动的扫描头30呈现出一个读出面。例如,当扫描头30径向平移地接近卡盘16上的盘20中心时,电机12以增大的旋转速度旋转盘20。所以,盘20通过扫描头30的部分以恒定的线速度运动。注意到,在常规的激光盘中,数据结构通常设置在一个从盘的边缘向中心螺旋上升的轨道中,它需要盘以一种可变的旋转速率旋转,以便轨道以一种恒定的线速度相对于扫描头运动。例如,盘驱动器10可以以一种适当增大的旋转速率旋转DVD,从而提供在扫描头30上的大约3.5m/s的线速度。
现参见图2,扫描头30通常包括一个光源32和一个光电探测器34。光源32产生并导向光盘20的电磁辐射(以下也称作光辐射)入射或询问光束(interrogating beam)100。光盘20包括一个反射层32,在该层上或该层中形成数据结构23。导向光盘20的电磁辐射询问光束100被反射层22做为一个反射光束102反射。反射光束102然后被光学扫描头30的光电探测器34探测。当盘驱动器10相对于扫描头30旋转盘20时,询问光束100透光盘反射层22上的数据结构23。当询问光束100在数据结构23上移动时,数据结构调制反射光束102。反射光束102中的调制登记在扫描头30的光电探测器34中并被转换成电信号。
更具体的说,例如,光源32可包括一个激光二极管36或其它用于产生光辐射的询问光束100的适当装置。激光二极管36产生的光束100可以被导向穿过四分之一波片40并穿过偏振分束器38,如图2所示。或者,波片和分束器的位置可以反过来,使得光束首先穿过分束器、再穿过波片。另外,激光二极管36产生的光束可以在遇到波片40之前被准直器(未示出)准直。询问光束100穿过分束器38之后,光束遇到一个适当的透镜42,该透镜把询问光束100聚焦到预定的焦点。光源30发出的询问光束100可以有大约650nm的波长,尽管光束也可以有其它的波长。询问光束100可以聚焦成一个大约0.63μm的光斑。光束100的焦深大约为0.9μm,当然,此焦深也可以按需调节。询问光束100通过一个适当的调制器(如声光或电光调制器,未示出)调制成在每个位的停留时间大约在100-200ns之间。激光二极管36也可以用于在光盘20上传送大约1mW的功率。由询问光束100在每个位上施于的能量约为200pJ,在焦点上的光束积分通量约为50mJ/cm2。因此,焦点上询问光束100的强度约为300kW/cm2。在另外的实施例中,光源也可以有任何其它的形状,以产生具有从光盘上读出数据结构的适当特性的电磁辐射询问光束。
还参见图2,激光盘20的反射层22设置在上保护层24和下层26之间。下层26的结构将在下面参考本发明的三个有效实施例进行详细的描述。反射层22可以包括金属如铝并且通过适当的方法形成,从而提供一个对询问光束100的反射表面,反射层22也可以采用其它适合的材料。如前所述,层22的反射表面被编有储存做为数据结构23的信息。当询问光束100入射到数据结构23的特征位时数据结构23用于改变反射光束102。例如,数据结构23可以包括一种形成在光盘20反射面中的凹点27和凸点25的图案。凸点25是光盘20反射面28上的升高部分。凹点27是光盘20反射面28上的凹陷部分(相对于凸点25)。例如,每个凹点27具有大约0.4μm的宽度和大约0.4-1.9μm的长度,当然,凹点也可以有其它合适的长度和宽度。在另一实施例中,形成在光盘反射面中的数据结构可以有任何其它合适的特征,当询问光束遇到这些特征位时,特征位改变反射光束的质量。例如,这些特征位可以是反射面上的滑痕序列,或是光盘反射面中的穿孔。
在优选实施例中,如图2所示,光源32产生的询问光束100由透镜42聚焦,以致于焦点位于光盘20反射面28中的凹点27的“低面”。当询问光束100入射到凹点27的表面上时,询问光束100被凹点表面做为一个反射光束102反射。此反射光束102穿过透镜42(现在用在反射光束的准直器)并再被分束器38偏转,从而照射到扫描头30中的光电探测器34上。反之,当询问光束100导向反射面28的凸点时,光束100的少量被反射回到被光电探测器34探测。这是因为凸点25的表面位于与询问光束100的焦深不同的深度。
或者,光源产生的询问光束100可以通过透镜聚焦到凸点25而非凹点27的面上。
在两种情况下,可以理解,在两种状态(对应于询问光束100入射到凹点27或凸点25上)下反射率的改变提供了一种在盘表面中编入二进制数据(即1和0)的机制。
以下仅以询问光束100聚焦在光盘20反射面28中凹点27的表面的情形为例描述本发明的优选实施例,当然,本发明的技术也同样可以应用到询问光束聚焦到凸点25表面的情形。
现参见图3A和3B,图中表示根据本发明第一实施例的光盘20部分A的放大截面图。光盘20构造成包括一个表面浮凸光聚物层200。表面浮凸光聚物层200由一种或多种聚合物组成,如包含聚合物的偶氮苯。已知包含聚合物的偶氮苯能够响应于光强梯度而显示出表面形变。
在这方面可参考J.Kumaar等题为“梯度力:在偶氮苯功能化聚合物中形成表面浮凸光栅的机制”的文章,该文发表于1998年4月27日的应用物理通讯(Applied Physics Letters)第72卷第17期第2096-2098页。作者报道了用于在偶氮苯功能化聚合物中形成全息表面浮凸光栅的模型的推导。导致聚合物链在暴露于光照下时在偶氮色基的吸收带中迁移的力有助于偶极子与聚合物材料中存在的电场梯度互作用。作者还报道了偶氮苯中有效的转移-顺式(trans-cis)循环允许色基在梯度力的影响下协同运动。
根据本发明的技术,表面浮凸光聚物层200设置在光盘200上,以致于当光束100查询光盘20反射层22上的数据结构时询问光束100穿过层200。在此情形中的表面浮凸光聚物层200形成光盘20的下层。光聚物层200的一个表面201联系到光盘20的一个邻接层,光聚物层的反面202是一个自由的或不受制约的表面(见图3A)。在此优选实施例中,通过适当的方法(如溅射或旋转分布)直接在光盘20中反射层22的反射面28上设置表面浮凸光聚物层200。在另一个实施例中,表面浮凸光聚物层可以设置在光盘反射层和聚合物层之间的中间衬底上,使得光聚合物层又有一个不受制约的表面。
图3A和图3B分别表示表面浮凸光聚物层200在暴露于询问光束100之前的初始或未变形状态以及暴露于询问光束100之后的变形状态(图3B未按比例尺画出)。当光盘20被光学扫描头30扫描时表面浮凸光聚物层200暴露在询问光束100下(也见图2)。
如图3A所示,当光盘首次被扫描并且表面浮凸层200处于未变形状态时,询问光束100聚焦穿过表面浮凸层200并做为反射光束102从凹点27的表面反射。所以,可以如前所述的标准方式读出。但是,表面浮凸光聚物层200在询问光束100下的曝光还导致光聚物层200不受限制的表面202’的变形,如图3B所示。光聚物层200中的向外凸伸变形210改变光束必须穿过的聚合物材料的量,并且至少由于增加的材料具有不同于空气的折射率这一事实,询问光束100经受光束偏差,导致询问光束的散焦。此散焦足以导致光电探测器34接收的反射光量的改变,并因而导致至少光盘的一部分不能被正确地读出,这正是希望的结果。如此,可在后续的读出光盘的企图中产生误差。
已经观察到,通过本发明的蒸发机制或光学产生的表面浮凸变形可以足以导致光盘变得不可读,或由于引发的读出光束跟踪问题而严重降低读出的准确度。更准确地说,由扫描头30的光源32(见图2)产生的询问光束100聚焦穿过未变形的表面浮凸光聚物层200,并在凹点27的表面形成一个例如尺寸小于1μm的光斑。高度聚焦的询问光束100产生大约109Mw/cm3的较大的光强梯度。表面浮凸光聚物层200的不受制约的表面202相应于光强在纳米量级上Mw/cm2范围的光强变化(即大约10Mw/cm3的光强梯度)而进行表面浮凸调制。所以,当受到聚焦于凹点27表面的询问光束100产生的高强度梯度时,表面浮凸光聚物层200的不受制约的表面发生严重的表面变形210(见图3B)。当表面202’中的表面浮凸变形210增大到阈值尺寸时,导致由此不再以足够的分辨度聚焦到凹点27表面并做为可被光电探测器34探测的反射光束102被反射的询问光束100的偏差(见图2)。这样导致读出失败。对不受制约的表面202曝光以形成表面所需尺寸的变形、从而导致询问光束偏差的曝光依赖于聚合物的调和以及表面浮凸光聚物层200的粘滞度。层200中光聚物的调和以及光聚物的粘滞度可以选成:当第一次读盘时应用询问光束之后立刻而非在期间形成所需大小的表面浮凸变形210。这事实上导致在第一次读盘之后盘变得的不可读。或者,表面浮凸光聚物层200的聚合物调和及粘滞度可以选成:在使用预定次数的询问光之后形成所需大小的表面浮凸变形,也即,在预定次数地读盘之后使盘变得的不可读。在这方面可以修改读出程序,使得询问光束对盘表面上的相同部位重复扫描,由此确保表面浮凸聚合物受到影响。
根据本发明的此实施例,通过一个播放过程使得光盘20不可读的方法包括步骤:a)给光盘20提供一个表面浮凸光聚物层200,该层在存在询问光束100产生的光强梯度时,不受制约的表面中发生表面变形;和b)用询问光束100辐射表面浮凸光聚物层,以在光聚合物层的不受制约的表面中至少引发一个表面浮凸变形。在播放过程中引发的表面浮凸变形导致询问光束发生偏差,防止在随后的读出过程中询问光束聚焦到数据结构23特征位上的所需位置。这导致在随后的读出过程中不能读出盘上的数据。
图8是具有从平面形状改变而来的表面构形的光学可读介质的部分放大截面图,其中该表面构形可以用于有害地影响根据本发明技术的读出装置的跟踪操作。在此实施例中,通过利用如上所述的感光聚合物、或通过一种蒸发技术、或通过提供一个在大气中与某一物质如氧气、水蒸气或二氧化碳反应的表面层而把平面构形改变成非平面构形(图中没有按比例表示)。在这些情况下,不需要例如通过提高经过颜色变化的辐射系数特性而改变表面层对读出光束的透明度。相反,改变表面构形以及与预想的平面表面层构形的偏差足以有害地影响读出装置的跟踪操作。
现在参见图4A和4B,该图表示根据本发明第二实施例的光盘20’的部分A’的放大截面图。本发明第二实施例中的光盘20’基本上类似于参考图2所描述的光盘20,除下述部分。从图4A和4B所示,在此第二实施例中,光盘20’包括加载在光敏剂层300上的氧气(O2)。光敏剂层300设置在光盘20’上,使得当光盘20’被光学扫描头30(见图2)扫描时询问光束100穿过光敏剂层300。光敏剂层300可以通过散射位垒302与光盘20’的反射层22’分开。可以通过一些手段密封光敏剂层300的下表面304以与环境隔开,如不透气的聚合物层。
当光学扫描头30扫描光盘20’时,光源32产生的询问光束100穿过光敏剂层300和散射位垒302并聚焦到光盘反射层22’中的凹点27’表面。相应地,聚焦的询问光束100再从凹点27’的反射铝表面做为一束可被如前所述的扫描头30(见图2)探测的反射光束102反射。询问光束100对光敏剂层300的辐射在光敏剂层300上加载的氧气(O2)中产生单氧(1O2)。在光敏剂层300中产生的高活性的单氧(1O2)通过散射位垒散射到光盘的反射面并与反射面中的金属反应,从而对反射面氧化。至少在光盘凹点27’中的反射面的氧化降低其反射率,以致于当询问光束100照射到氧化表面时,询问光束的反射被减少。反射率的降低可以理解为凸点25而非凹点27的存在,由此导致读出失败,这是所希望的结果。
具体的说,例如光敏剂层300包含一种或多种与一种或多种溶剂混合的光敏剂化合物,如甲醇、丙酮、10%的氟利昂/乙醇混合物或1%的氟利昂/乙醇混合物。溶剂从内部给光敏剂层300提供一个氧分子(O2)源。
参见图6并根据本发明,光敏剂化合物(PS)与具有大约650nm波长的电磁辐射(即光)的结合激发光敏剂,其中激发的光敏剂可以表示成PS*。然后,激发的光敏剂与大气氧分子(O2)结合产生单氧(1O2)。在本发明的实施例中,此反应发生在施用询问激光束100的光敏剂层300中,如扫描光盘20’时。因此,在光敏剂层300有询问光束穿过的区域中,光敏剂化合物变成被激发并与层300内部的溶剂提供的氧分子(O2)结合产生单氧(1O2)。在光敏剂层300中的单氧产生之后,单氧(1O2)继续经散射位垒302向一个或多个凹点27’的反射面散射。单氧(1O2)到达反射面并在延迟时间TD之后开始化学侵蚀金属。延迟时间TD足以允许询问光束100被凹点27’的表面做为反射光束102反射,并因此允许在单氧(1O2)侵蚀凹点表面之前读出编入其中的数据。所以,散射位垒302可以用于延迟光盘反射面28’的氧化直到至少完成一次盘的读出。
单氧(1O2)经散射位垒302散射的延迟时间TD依赖于散射位垒302的厚度h和散射位垒302对单氧(1O2)的散射率。散射延迟时间TD和位垒的厚度h及散射率之间的关系一般由下列方程表示:
散射位垒302包括一个不会淬灭单氧(1O2)并具有一个受控的散射率D。例如,散射位垒的散射率D可以根据位垒选用的材料在10-5~10-9cm2/s范围内变化。因此,可以通过选取一种具有适当的散射率D并选取一种适当的散射位垒的厚度h而把延迟时间TD控制成大于读出编码在盘20’反射层22’上的数据所需的时间。但是,延迟时间TD受单氧(1O2)的寿命(T1)制约。单氧(1O2)的寿命(T1)是主体疏水特性和顺磁特性的函数。下面给出单氧(1O2)对于不同溶剂的寿命T1:

所以,把分开光敏剂层300与光盘的反射层22的散射位垒做成合适的大小,以对单氧散射的延迟时间TD,该时间大于读出时间(Tread),小于单氧(1O2)的寿命(T1)(即T1>TD>Tread)。
制作散射位垒302的两种合适材料是聚胺酯或特氟隆,而制作光敏剂层300的合适材料包括一种掺pthalocyanine的聚合物,如聚碳酸酯或PMMA,或一种掺卟啉衍生物的聚合物,或其它高tripletyield染料。其它合适的材料也可以使用,这些具体列出的材料不应理解为对实施本发明的限定。
现在参见图5A和5B,该图表示根据本发明第三实施例的光盘20”的A”部分的放大截面图。本发明此实施例中的光盘20”与前面参考图2所述的光盘20基本类似,除了下面指出的地方。从图5A和5B中可以看出,根据本实施例的光盘20”包括一个基底400,该基底可以由一种一般设置在光盘中反射层22”的反射面28”对面的聚碳酸酯材料形成。包含在基底400和盘20”的反射面28”之间的是未固化的光聚物402的区域或凹处402A、402B。如图5A所示,光聚物402设置在形成于光盘20”的反射层22”中的凹点27”之内。在未固化状态,光聚物402的折射率使得光源32(见图2)产生的询问光束100穿过基底400和微固化的聚合物402,并且询问光束100聚焦到凹点27”的表面。未固化的光聚物402用具有适当波长如大于650nm的光照射固化,当然,该光聚物也可以通过用其它波长的光照射来固化。所以,光学扫描头30发出的询问光束100(如波长约为650nm的激光)照射给定的时间后固化光聚物402(即促使光聚物的分子之间交联,导致粘滞度改变和光聚物总的凝固)。
光聚物固化后光聚物402的折射率发生变化,使得导向凹点27”并穿过固化的光聚物402’(如图5B所示)的询问光束100不再聚焦到凹点27”的表面。即光聚物材料的固化导致光束偏差以及在凹点27”中的焦点损耗。因此,根据本发明的此实施例,当第一次读盘或在初始读出后的多次重复读盘时,对光盘20”的凹点27”中未固化的光聚物402的照射固化光聚物。光聚物402”被固化后,例如沉积在凹点27”中,使询问光束100散焦,以致于不再被反射成一个可被光电探测器34探测的反射光束102。反过来,这样导致读出失败,这是希望的结果。
未固化的光聚物402最好有一个固化时间,允许不受妨碍地第一次读出(即,在光聚物固化之前询问光束100被凹点27”作为可由光电探测器34探测到的反射光束102反射)但阻止后续对凹点27”的读出。
合适的可光固化的聚合物如丙烯酸树脂包括波敏树脂,如通常用在光刻或用在利用例如氩离子激光器或氪离子激光器的快速样机试验中的那些材料。关于光聚物的一般参考得看本发明人于1991年7月2日公开的美国专利US5,028,109,名为“制造具有最佳效率的周期性调制区的倍频聚合波导的方法以及由该方法制得的聚合波导”。
还可以参考其它文献中的其它合适的光敏聚合物,如Gottschalk等美国专利US4,865,942,题为“包含染料-硼酸盐络合物的光固化组合物和引用该组合物的光敏材料”。
本发明前面的三个实施例使得光盘20、20’、20”不可读,或把他们的寿命限制在不超过光学扫描系统1第一次读过(即播放)光盘之后的四个小时。另外,实现本发明的三个实施例不会使得光盘20、20’、20”在具有竞争性的光学条件下如太阳光或户内照明条件下容易变得永久性地不可读。
典型的室内照明一般不会不利地影响本发明三个优选实施例中的光盘20、20’、20”的寿命。但是,如果关系到在阳光下暴晒,则窄带滤光材料(未示出)可能会沉积到盘的下表面26上,从而阻止了聚合物介质用太阳光激发的机会。
应该理解以上的描述仅仅是举例说明本发明。例如,导引询问光束的步骤可以通过在一个足以导致光聚物层200、402或光敏剂层300中发生反应的连续时间段内把光导向光盘而执行。或者,可以在累积触发反应的断续时间里将询问光束导向盘。另外,还可以在单次扫描盘或多次扫描盘的断续时间段中把询问光束导向盘。
下面将描述本发明的第四实施例。第四实施例的目的在于提供一种通过蒸发物质来破坏光信号如用在DVD或CD读出的光信号的方法。因而本实施例也可用在构造一段时间之后变为不可读的光盘。
本方法还提供一种通过蒸发物质而产生能够吸收询问光束的颜色的方法。
通过介绍知道,某些物质在改变溶剂或环境时变为彩色或改变颜色。其中一个例子就是用在无碳复印纸中的内酯染料的分类。染料的无色内酯形式可以通过吸附到酸性粘粒或其它酸性物质上、降低溶液中内酯的PH值,或通过改变溶解了内酯的溶剂的极性而导致对染料的着色阳离子形式“开链”。图7中示出了内酯染料的无色内酯形式和着色阳离子形式、结晶紫内酯。
由苯酚和甲醛衍生出的聚合物显示出在促使内酯染料开链方面是有效的(见美国专利US4,578,690),这大概是由于苯酚成份的酸性性质。利用从赫希斯特-Celenese获得的聚-p-(羟基苯乙烯)进行一项测试,判断此聚合物是否还导致结晶紫内酯开链并变为有色。THF中的聚合物溶液与少量的结晶紫内酯混合,并且把此溶液挤注到玻璃板上和干燥的空气中。还观察到聚合物内酯溶液保持无色直到混合物变干,因此形成阳离子形式染料的很深的颜色。
此机制根据本发明的此实施例形成,即利用一种较易挥发的溶剂和一种比较不容易挥发的溶剂的混合物制备聚合物-内酯溶液。溶液变干时,不易挥发的溶剂在易挥发溶剂的蒸发过程中保留下来,混合物保持无色,直到不易挥发的溶剂蒸发一段时间。制备聚-p-(羟基苯乙烯)(PHS)、乙醇(做为易挥发溶剂)、结晶紫内酯(CVL)和几种不易挥发的溶剂(LVS)的混合物。允许混合物滴在室温下到空气中干燥,并且观察剩余膜的颜色可以看出产生颜色时不易挥发溶剂的效果。

例#1
制备聚-p-(羟基苯乙烯)(5gm)、乙醇(10mL)、结晶紫内酯(200mg)和×NMP(3.0mL)。将几滴加到玻璃滑片上并允许混合物在室温空气中干燥。形成的膜柔软且感觉发粘但是无色。通过利用分光光度计在几天的过程中形成颜色。

例3
要测试系统在储藏时的颜色稳定性,按例#1所述的方式制备膜。在聚乙烯链锁盒中沿一滴NMP密封空气干燥的玻璃滑片,以在盒中形成NMP饱和的环境。室温下一个星期后以此方式储藏的滑片显示无色。移去盒后则开始如同例1和例2形成颜色。室温空气中五天后,在605nm的0.875光强下滑片成为深蓝色。
光的散射而非吸收也可以用于衰减光信号。导致散射增大的蒸发方法可以通过聚合物与固体混合,其中两种材料之间存在折射率失配,并再加入调节聚合物-溶剂混合物折射率的聚合物溶剂以与固体匹配而实现。在这种条件下混合物是无散射或弱散射的,因为在聚合物-溶剂对和固体之间存在折射率匹配。但是,溶剂的缓慢蒸发导致剩余聚合物和固体失配,并因此增强散射。
例#4
在20mL的乙酸乙酯中制备1.0mg的纤维素醋酸丁酸酯(CAB,Mw=70,000,13.5%的乙酰,37.5%的丁酰,n=1.46),并往此溶液中加1.0mg的硅胶(70-230个网眼,n约为1.50)和600μL的苯基乙醇(n约为1.54)。将此混合物滴防止到玻璃滑片上,并且允许乙酸乙酯蒸发,从而提供一种清晰透明的膜,可以很容易地透过该膜上读出新的印刷字体。放到空气中两天膜即变得十分浑浊,要透过膜读出新的印刷体非常困难。
根据本发明的技术,可以利用前述的基于蒸发的方法使得光学可读介质如DVD或CD在一段时间之后变得不可读。以图2为例,上保护层24可以包括例1和例2中描述结晶紫内酯的混合物,这些混合物在最初是无色透明的,但在充分发生溶剂蒸发之后着色并吸收。上保护层24还可包括例4中提到的CAB-乙酸乙酯溶液,此溶液最初是无色透明的,但在充分发生溶剂蒸发之后变为乳状并散射。虽然优选此层暴露作为最顶层,但也可以在本发明的范围内采用一个覆盖层,只要覆盖层是可以充分渗透以便能够发生蒸发过程即可。
可以理解,本发明还可以不需要大气氧的存在,因为在真空中也可以很好地结晶紫内酯进行蒸发,并且也不需要用光束催化或激发进程,因为在暗的环境中也可以很好地发生颜色变化或增大不透明度和散射,只要蒸发过程不是严重受阻即可。
其它衰减光信号的方法也可以用于实施本发明。
例如,已知弱酸盐和酸或基或二者均易挥发的弱基将在处于因一种组合物挥发所致的开链时转变为自由酸或自由基。此物质的一个例子是固态碳酸胺,此物质在开链中由于盐、胺、二氧化碳的挥发成份的形成而缓慢地升华。此特性可用于以几种方式产生颜色及其光吸收。例如,易挥发胺和非易挥发酸组合物(羟基酸、苯酚等)可以与内酯染料如结晶紫内酯或与PH指示剂染料混合。碱性组合物(胺)的挥发将剩下酸性组合物。酸性组合物可用于催化内酯染料的开链,或导致PH指示剂的颜色变化。
易挥发气体也可用于产生颜色。例如,包含PH指示剂染料的湿水聚合物膜可以储存在气体环境中,其水溶液是酸性的(如二氧化碳、二氧化硫)或碱性的(氨、三甲胺等)。从大气中除去膜后,挥发气体将从湿水膜中蒸发,并且PH值将改变,导致PH指示剂染料中颜色的变化。此类型的基质可用于探测二氧化碳和胺(见Mill等在Anal.Chem1992年,64卷,1383页上的文章以及Lakowicz等在Biotechnol.Prog.1998年,14卷,326页上的文章和美国专利US5,183,763和5,846,836)。
吸收或光散射(或二者)的增大可以通过利用诸如旋转涂敷、溅射、开缝涂敷或真空淀积的方法在盘表面涂敷例如上面举出的各种物质的化学活性层来实现。图案的沉积可以通过如丝网印刷或喷墨的印刷过程、或利用溅射或真空涂敷的掩膜来实现。或者,可以通过单独地制作黏附的塑料膜、切割成一定的大小并施加到盘表面来制备活性层。
另外,可以通过增加询问光束的散射来发生定时读出的失效,由此把整体的信噪比(SNR)水平降低到一个不可接受的水平。此方法对激光功率、误差校正码、或改进的探测器设计等变化的敏感性较低。
另外,例如敏感的无机材料包层如KBr或CsF在盘表面上的真空沉积可以在盘暴露于大气物质下如水蒸汽和/或二氧化碳时提供一种表面薄雾,由此至少增大光吸收、散射或表面粗糙度等其中的一项,并由此还降低SNR。
另外,例如挥发溶剂从聚合物涂层中的蒸发可导致小散射晶粒的析出,或蒸发可导致聚合物或与伴随着光散射的聚合物混合物的相位变化。
另外,如前所述,定时读出的失效可以通过降低盘的反射金属涂层表面的反射率来实现。此方法对如上所述的关于吸收增大的相同因素敏感。应注意到反射埋层的腐蚀实质上是不可逆的。
在CD和DVD中的黏附层可以修改成开发利用金属上的空气的腐蚀效果。因为本发明的一个目的在于提供一种短寿命的盘,可以任意选用与工艺性匹配的不同材料。黏附剂和塑料的成份可以处理成一旦盘的包装去除后促进腐化反应。另外,反射层本身可以利用比铝更活泼的金属如钾或钙来制成。
本发明可以通过前述两个或多个实施例提供的一种光学编码介质来实施。例如,光盘可以构造成提供一个表面变形的特征以及铝层氧化的特征,或蒸发驱动的吸收和/或散射变化与反射金属氧化而结合,由此进一步确保在初次读出后使盘有效破坏。
本领域的技术人员在不脱离本发明实质的前提下可以做各种更换和变化。因此,本发明本发明包括所有这些落入权利要求范围内的更换、改型和变动。
Claims (41)
1.一种使光学可读介质在播放过程中不可读的方法,包括步骤:
给介质提供一种降低编入了信息的表面之反射率的光学活性机制;
将介质暴露在光辐照之下以读出信息;和
在曝光步骤期间启动光学活化机制的工作。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于启动步骤包括:
在设置于介质上的一层中产生单氧;和
单氧与含金属的层反应,以氧化含金属层的表面,从而降低表面的反射率。
3.如权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于产生氧的步骤包括通过设置于层和含金属层之间的散射位垒散布单氧的步骤。
4.一种在播放过程中使光学可读介质不可读的方法,包括步骤:
给介质提供一种光学活化机制致使读出光束散焦,由此降低读出光束从编入了信息的表面的反射率;
将介质暴露在光辐照之下以读出信息;和
在曝光步骤期间启动光学活化机制的工作。
5.如权利要求4所述的方法,其特征在于启动步骤包括:
在设置于介质上的层中产生光强梯度;和
响应于产生的梯度,使层的表面发生变形至少导致读出光束偏差或减弱读出跟踪功能其中之一项。
6.如权利要求5所述的方法,其特征在于提供步骤提供包括含偶氮苯聚合物的层。

41.一种使得光学可读介质不可读的方法,包括步骤:
给介质提供一个具有平面表面构形的表面层;和
在光学可读介质的第一次读出期间或随后,通过利用感光聚合物、把一种物质从表面层中除去到大气中、或与大气中的一种物质反应等方式中的至少一种方式把至少一部分平面的表面构形修改成非平面的表面构形,而不明显改变表面层对读出光束的透光度,其中非平面表面层构形与平面表面层构形的偏差至少足以有害地影响产生读出光的读出装置的跟踪操作。
