Description

背景

提供与电视内容一起传送的辅助信息存在有多个标准。一种标准是先进电视增强论坛(ATVEF)规范，草稿版本1.1r26，1999年2月2日公开。ATVEF规范是设计用来提供在模拟和数字系统中增强数据与电视内容的一道传送，例如有线电视系统，卫星系统，地面系统以及类似的系统。增强数据与电视内容的结合可以被称为增强的电视内容。增强的电视内容为观众提供了更多的信息和选择。例如，观众在观看常规的电视节目时可以被给予收看电视广告，教育信息以及类似内容的选择。

详细描述
参见图1，根据本发明的一个实施例的信息传送系统10包括一个内容产生器12，一个传送操作系统14，以及多个接收机16。接收机16可以被置于多个接收位置，包括家庭，办公室，娱乐场所或者其他的地方。内容产生器12产生将被传送操作系统14传送的增强数据(或者其他类型的辅助信息)以及电视内容(或者其他类型的包括视频/音频的内容)。此外，内容产生器12可以为传送操作系统14产生由其他源提供的与电视内容一同传送的增强数据。增强数据可以包括图形(例如，网页，多媒体信息或者其他数字数据文件)，显示布局以及同步信息。增强数据以及电视内容的结合被称为增强电视内容。

为了提供更大的灵活性和/或减轻传送媒体22的带宽，本发明的一些实施例在与用于传送A/V内容的传送媒体分开的链路上传送(使用IP多点传送)与多重A/V频道(例如，TV频道)相关联的增强数据。此外，链路可以是与A/V内容相同的传送机构的一部分，但是不与任何A/V频道相关联，例如在与A/V节目分开的仅有数据的节目中的具有辅助信息的MPEG-2传输流。用于传送A/V内容的单独的传送结构可以是一个单独的传输流或一个单独链路20，诸如通用数据链路或其它类型的通信链路。这样，根据一些实施例，增强数据在传送操作系统14中(或其他的源)是与A/V数据分离的，A/V内容在传送媒体22上传送，而增强数据在接收端链路上(或一个单独的传输流)传送。
在随后的描述中，对接收接收端链路20上接收的增强数据进行了参考；但是应当注意，增强数据或其它类型的辅助信息可在诸如MPEG-2传送系统中使用的一个单独的传输流上接收。此外，对接收端调谐在一个特定的A/V频道(例如TV频道)上进行了参考。但是应当注意到，接收系统可以被替代调谐到基于MPEG-2的系统的一个A/V传输流节目。

增强数据可被存储在服务器18中的存储媒体126中，增加或者替代存储于传送操作系统14中的增强数据。服务器18进一步包括一个与接收端链路20相耦合的收发机124以及一个控制设备128。可以有更多的服务器18与接收端链路20相耦合用于存储附加的增强数据。可选地，可以有多个服务器18与接收机16在单独的链路之上相耦合。
在接收系统16中，接收机电路114(例如一个TV调谐卡)用于在传送媒体22上接收内容，收发器116用于在接收端链路20上进行通信。接收机电路114可以与A/V设备驱动程序130相关联，130将接收的A/V内容向前传送到用于在接收系统中处理和呈现A/V内容的软件设备。收发器116也可以与网络设备驱动器132相关联用于从链路20接收增强数据。

标识符可以提供和电视内容一起提供的有关辅助信息的信息，例如增强数据。这给用户提供了更多的有关辅助信息的信息，使用户能够做出明确的判断是否访问辅助信息，在一些情况下，图标32，34和36可以是超文本链接，允许用户鼠标点击图标(或使用其它指示设备)并且立即跳到辅助信息。
装载在服务器18或者内容产生器12中的软件52，例如可以从接收传输的内容开始，如图4的方框54所示。接下来，在方框56中所示，内容产生器接收与先前接收的内容一同被传送的辅助信息。根据辅助信息的内容，产生一个图标定位符，如方框58所述。图标定位符为有关内容-识别图标的信息定位提供了一个指针。图标可以是一个表明辅助信息内容的全部或部分属性的图形符号。最后，内容，辅助信息以及图标定位符都通过传送操作器14被传送到接收机16(方框60)。
附图5示出了本发明的一个实施例的执行。装载在一个接收机16上的软件40以接收通知流开始，如方框42中所示。通知流被解析从而定位图标定位符，如方框44所示。
图标定位符可以有多种格式。在本发明的一个实施例中，图标定位符可以是一个统一资源定位符(URL)。URL可以指向一个互联网网址，该网址包括与可以被显示的从而为用户提供有关包含在辅助信息中的内容的合适图标有关的信息，此外，URL也可指向已传送的可被用来访问的辅助信息中的一个位置，然后显示一个合适的图标。
此外，也可使用一个本地标识符(LID)。尤其是在点播的情况下信息不必存在的地方，本地标识符或者LID可被用于为诸如内容-识别图标的源提供一个名称。LID的使用支持了内容到源的交叉参考。LID在生成超文本链接或者将一条内容插入到其他内容中是十分有用的。LID列表能够使内容产生器为每一个与给定的名称空间相关的源指定唯一的标识符。
这样，LID可以被用于重复地访问图标信息。一旦图标已被存储在接收机中，并通过LID而被识别，它能够被重复请求并一次又一次地使用。例如，在本发明的一个实施例中，接收机在内容-识别图标图象被实际需要以前，可被装载多个这些图象。这些图标之一的图标码可以与通知流一同被发送表明图标已经在接收机上。
一个LID或者URL可以作为触发脉冲的部分而被发送。触发脉冲是为了增强电视节目而发送的实时事件。接收机可以设定自己的规则用于允许用户启动或者不启动增强电视内容，而触发脉冲可被用作通知用户增强内容存在的信号。触发脉冲通常包括一个URL并且还可以可选择地包括一个人们可读的名称，一个有效日期，以及脚本。与触发脉冲相连的用于表明特别类型内容的到来的有效日期，可以提供有限持续时间的图标。例如，有效日期可以周期性地使图标消失和再现。
