Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及医疗监测装置服务的提供,尤其是涉及于服务开始前即确保访问这些服务已得到授权。
背景技术
传感器技术、电子学和通信技术的提高,使病人即使是在不卧床、也不与医院监测系统保持持续直接的联系时,都可能对病人的生理特征进行监测。例如,美国第5,959,529号专利描述了一个监测系统,其中病人携带一个具有相关生理传感器的远程监测装置。根据病人的医疗问题,诸如心跳及其波形,该远程监测装置对病人的一个或多个生理特征进行连续的监测。
与这些医疗监测装置的使用相关的商业问题之一是,要确定病人的医疗福利费用提供者是否已授权使用该监测装置和服务。病人可能在没有适当授权的情况下使用该医疗监测装置,并因此导致了可观的费用,如医疗监测装置的租金、电话费用、中央监测系统的费用以及医疗人员的费用,而这些装置与服务的提供者却可能得不到偿付。一般来说,医疗领域的坏账引起人们持续的关心。在便携式的医疗监测装置及服务的情况下,坏账引起人们甚至更大的关心,在这种情况下,装置本身控制在某一第三方如开处方的医生的手中,该第三方并不拥有医疗监测装置,并不为不适当的费用而负责任。

发明内容
本发明为控制使用医疗监测装置与服务提供了一种方法。这一方法确保只为那些得到适当授权享有该服务的人员启用和连续地提供服务。本方法只为那些提供了正确标识数据、并从财务上和其他方面得到对于服务的正当授权的人激活医疗监测装置与服务。这样就减少了对不适当的人进行监测的机会。激活过程是迅速的,并对寻求该服务的人基本上是透明的,而不仅仅是要求输入正确的标识数据。
根据本发明,对医疗监测装置的使用加以控制的方法包括以下步骤:提供一个医疗监测装置系统,该医疗监测装置系统具有对一个中央单元的通信入口;将一组标识数据元素输入到该医疗监测装置系统中;由医疗检测装置系统与该中央单元建立通信链路并向中央单元传送该组标识数据元素;以及由医疗监测装置系统与中央单元协同工作,以确定是否为执行医疗监测装置服务而激活医疗监测装置。确定的步骤包括:评价输入的该组标识数据元素是否满足一组基本结构要求,并从第三方信息源获得授权,其中,评价与获得的步骤最好是自动完成的。这些评价和获得步骤典型地由中央单元完成,但它们也可以是分布式完成的。在这些标识数据元素满足基本结构要求的情况下就获得授权,通过通信链路向该医疗监测装置系统发出一个激活信号。例如,一个第三方授权信息源可包括一家保险公司、一家社会保险管理机构、一家信贷授予(credit-granting)公司、一位医生、以及一家负责正确运营医疗监测装置的公司。
在一种特别重要的应用中,所述医疗监测装置系统包括一个病人便携式装置。它还可包括一个与该病人便携式装置进行通信、并与中央单元进行通信的基站。该基站接收标识数据元素的输入,并且按需要而通过陆地线路或无线链路与病人便携式装置以及与中央单元进行适当的通信来传输信息。通过对该组标识数据元素在本地进行初步的评价,以确定它们是否满足一组格式要求,并在实施初步的评价后确定该标识数据元素没有满足该组格式要求时,提供一个输入的检查信息,该医疗监测装置系统可帮助人们寻求获取对服务的使用。这些标识数据元素例如可包括:病人名字、病人地址、病人的社会安全号码、病人性别、第三方财务信息源的标识、交费号码、以及给病人看病的医生的名字。
所述激活信号可仅用来激活医疗监测装置及其服务,或者激活信号也可用作一种标识符,该标识符可包含在随后所有的医疗监测装置与中央单元的通信中。

具体实施方式
图1描述一个实施本发明的优选方法,其控制对医疗监测装置服务的使用。提供一个医疗监测装置及相关系统(标记编号20)。该医疗监测装置和医疗监测系统可以是任一可操作类型,例如可以是美国第5,959,529号专利所阐明的类型,在此将该专利全部公开内容引用作为参考,并进行在此讨论的修改。

中央单元58具有对各种数据库71的通信入口,并典型地通过电话陆地线路70具有对第三方信息源72的通信入口。数据库71可包括先前病人的记录、一般记录、等等信息。例如,第三方信息源72可包含财务信息源74、医疗信息源76和其它信息源78。财务信息源比如说可以为一家保险公司、一家社会安全管理机构、或一家信贷授予公司。医疗信息源比如说为一位专家医生,他在开始监测病人之前需要得到授权。其他第三方信息源可以是维护医疗监测装置54的一家公司,而其受到咨询是为了确保所要激活的该特定监测装置已被批准进行服务。
基站56通常位于该医疗机构的办公室,医疗机构为监测病人的生理参数而向病人提供医疗监测装置54。这样的机构例如可以是病人的医生或一家医院。当该机构向病人提供医疗监测装置54时,医疗监测装置54就可与基站56相连并以图1各部分所示的顺序进行随后的处理。
回到图1,通过图2所示系统50中的基站56的输入/输出装置65的键盘66,一组标识数据元素被输入到医疗监测装置系统52中(标记编号22)。举例来说,该标识数据元素可包括病人的名字、病人地址、病人的社会安全号码、病人性别和第三方财务信息源的标识。医疗监测装置54的标识符,例如其序列号,可在步骤22中人工输入,但更普遍的是可以通过医疗监测装置54使得该标识符能够被基站56自动获得。
基站56可以使用软件应用程序对一组标识数据元素进行初步评价,以确定其是否满足一组格式要求。这些基本的格式要求对每一个标识数据元素而言是特定的。例如一个病人的名字应该只包含字母数字字符。如果通过键盘输入的病人名字包含其他字符(如百分号%),则基站将识别出这一错误,并通过显示器68提供一个输入检查信息,以促使输入正确的信息。在另一个例子中,社会安全号码必须包含十位数字,而不能包含字母或其它符号。
在经过初步格式评价,确定是一组正确的标识数据元素输入到医疗监测装置系统52中之后,医疗监测装置系统52即建立对中央单元58的通信链路(标记编号24)。通信链路最好是通过电话陆上线路62建立,但是如果没有可用的陆上线路,也可通过蜂窝电话传输链路60来建立。
医疗监测装置系统52和中央单元58协同工作,以确定是否可激活医疗监测装置54从而提供医疗监测装置服务(标记编号26)。虽然最终决定典型地是由中央单元58做出,但医疗监测装置系统52可帮助处理数据或被调用进行额外的输入——例如在其它记录中发现病人的名字与社会安全号码不相符的情况下。
进行确定的步骤26包括:评价一组标识数据元素是否满足一组基本结构要求的步骤(标记编号28);以及从一个或多个第三方信息源72获得第三方授权的步骤(标记编号30)。评价步骤28和获得步骤30最好是自动执行。此处的“自动”意味着,除非有错误发生,这些步骤不需要有人的行动或干涉就可完成。目前的系统是完全通过计算机程序组织起来执行评价和获得步骤,以便降低费用并利用在多个地点采集的数据。本方法也可利用人工方式(也就是由人执行)的步骤28和30来实施,但那不是最希望采取的。
必须满足的一组基本结构要求可包括由基站56所评价的格式要求,然而也可包括其它结构要求。例如,中央单元可检查数据库71,以将输入的病人名字与先前的医疗接触中已记录在数据库71中的社会安全号码加以比较。如果在步骤22中输入的病人名字与社会安全号码不匹配,则可返回到医疗监测装置系统52进行进一步的查询。病人名字与社会安全号码匹配错误可能是由简单的输入错误引起的,这时可重新输入进行改正,或这种错误是由不诚实地试图获得医疗监测服务引起的,而这就可在步骤28的处理中被检测出来。
在步骤30中,获得第三方的授权包括联系适当的第三方信息源72。可连接财务信息源74以确定它是否批准了与病人监测服务有关的费用。为避免欠帐,这种批准对服务提供者的商业利益具有特别重要的意义。对许多医疗服务公司来说,医疗服务的欠帐是重要的损失。连接医疗信息源76可确定它是否批准了病人的监测。例如,若由不只一个医生为一个预期的病人看病,则在提供医疗监测服务前,重要的就可能是获得为该病人看病的每一个医生的授权。这时,“授权”表示得到授权方的正式承认,监测信息即可以使用。也可连接其它信息源78以确定他们是否批准了病人的监测。例如,可能希望得到保证,负责维护被激活的特定医疗监测装置54的公司批准了其使用。如果先前的使用者报告了一个问题,并且特定的医疗监测装置54已退出服务进行修理,但在尚未修理的情况下被错误地激活,则在这一阶段,负责维护的公司能够防止该装置激活。
这样,在步骤26中的处理就起到依据多个检查和第三方的“停止活动”的作用,从而减小了医疗监测装置被病人错误地使用和激活的可能性。如果这种“停止活动”没有结束,该医疗监测装置就不能被激活,直到没有结束的原因得到调查为止。可以预期,在大多数情况下,没有意外事件时,步骤26的激活决定将会完成,而且速度很快,以至于检查对病人和医疗监测装置的使用者来说是透明的。
做出激活决定(标记编号32)。最终决定典型地是在中央单元58做出。在中央单元58做出决定是因为在步骤26中它可访问到所需信息,也因为它与基站56相比,更不容易受到干扰。
当标识数据元素满足该组基本结构要求并获得了第三方的授权,中央单元58就通过通信链路60或62向医疗监测装置系统52发出一个激活信号(标记编号34)。医疗监测装置54即被激活进入服务状态(标记编号36)。
“激活信号”可以是任何可操作的类型。它可以是简单的一个软件“接通”开关,其在医疗监测装置54的微处理器中启动数据处理,也可为一个硬件“接通”开关,其启动特定的硬件功能,如内建于医疗监测装置54中的通信链路。激活信号也可更为复杂,并可包括病人以及与该病人有关的特定医疗监测装置54的标识。为标识的目的,医疗监测装置54与中央单元58后续进行的每个通信中可发送该激活信号。当正确的激活信号在每个通信中未被发送时,它可以被忽略。在以后的时间如果撤回了授权或有其他原因,可撤消激活(标记编号38)。在撤消步骤38,不再响应医疗监测装置54发送的信号而动作,并且病人和/或使用者得到通知,要求归还医疗监测装置54。作为撤消步骤38的替代,步骤34的激活信号可包含激活得到授权的最大时间限制,从而需要有进一步授权来延长已授权使用的时间。
虽然为了说明起见而详细描述了本发明的一个特定实施例,但在不脱离本发明的精神和范围的前提下,尚可作出多种的变化和改进。因此,本发明仅受限于所附的权利要求。
Claims (19)
1.一种对医疗监测装置服务的使用加以控制的方法,包括以下步骤:
提供一医疗监测装置系统,其具有对一中央单元的通信入口;
将一组标识数据元素输入到该医疗监测装置系统中;
由该医疗检测装置系统建立与该中央单元的通信链路,并向该中央单元传输该组标识数据元素;
由该医疗监测装置系统与该中央单元协同工作,以确定是否可为执行该医疗监测装置服务而激活医疗监测装置,确定的步骤包括:评价所输入的该组标识数据元素是否满足一组基本结构要求,并且从第三方信息源获得授权;而在这些标识数据元素满足该组基本结构要求的情况下就获得授权;
通过该通信链路向该医疗监测装置系统发出一个激活信号。
2.根据权利要求1的方法,该医疗监测装置系统包括一病人便携式装置。
3.根据权利要求1的方法,还包括在所述发出一个激活信号的步骤之后的另一步骤:
由该病人便携式装置与该中央单元进行后续通信;并且
在该病人便携式装置与该中央单元所进行的后续通信中包含有该激活信号。
4.根据权利要求1的方法,其中该医疗监测装置系统包括一病人便携式装置和一与该病人便携式装置进行通信的基站。
5.根据权利要求1的方法,其中该通信链路为一陆上线路。
6.根据权利要求1的方法,其中该通信链路为一无线链路。
7.根据权利要求1的方法,其中该组标识数据元素是从包括病人名字、病人地址、病人的社会安全号码、病人性别和第三方财务信息源标识的一组数据中选择的。
8.根据权利要求1的方法,其中所述评价与获得的步骤由该中央单元来完成。
9.根据权利要求1的方法,其中所述评价与获得的步骤是自动完成的。
10.根据权利要求1的方法,其中所述输入的步骤包括:
由该医疗监测装置系统在本地进行该组标识数据元素的初步评价的步骤,用以确定该组标识数据元素是否满足一组格式要求;以及
上述进行初步评价的步骤之后,在确定该组标识数据元素没有满足该组格式要求的情况下,由该医疗监测装置系统提供一个输入的检查信息。
11.根据权利要求1的方法,该第三方信息源是从包括保险公司、社会保险管理机构、信贷授予公司的一组信息源中选择出来的。
12.一种对病人使用医疗监测装置服务加以控制的方法,包括以下步骤:
提供一医疗监测装置系统,其具有对一中央单元的通信入口,其中该医疗监测装置系统包括一病人便携式装置和一与该病人便携式装置进行通信的基站;
将一组标识数据元素输入到该医疗监测装置系统中;
由该医疗检测装置系统建立与该中央单元的通信链路,并向该中央单元传输该组标识数据元素;
由该中央单元确定是否可为执行该医疗监测装置服务而激活医疗监测装置;确定的步骤包括:自动评价所输入的该组标识数据元素是否满足一组基本结构要求,并且从第三方财务信息源自动获得财务授权;而在这些标识数据元素满足该组基本结构要求的情况下就获得财务授权;
由该中央单元通过该通信链路向该医疗监测装置系统发出一个激活信号;
该病人便携式装置响应于该激活信号而被激活;随后
由该病人便携式装置对该病人提供该医疗监测装置服务。
13.根据权利要求12的方法,还包括在所述该中央单元发出一个激活信号的步骤之后的另一步骤:
由该病人便携式装置与该中央单元进行后续通信,以及
在该病人便携式装置与该中央单元所进行的后续通信中包含有该激活信号。
14.根据权利要求12的方法,其中该通信链路为一陆上线路。

由该医疗检测装置系统建立与该中央单元的通信链路,并向该中央单元传输一组标识数据元素;
由该医疗监测装置系统与该中央单元协同工作,以确定是否可为执行该医疗监测装置服务而激活该医疗监测装置系统,确定的步骤包括:自动评价所输入的该组标识数据元素是否满足一组基本结构要求,并且从第三方信息源自动获得第三方授权;而在这些标识数据元素满足该组基本结构要求的情况下就获得第三方授权;
通过该通信链路向该医疗监测装置系统发出一个激活信号。
