Abstract

发明的技术领域
本发明大体上涉及球阀。更具体地说,本发明涉及一种新颖的球阀设计和填密件的概念,其可在较高和较低的额定工作温度和热循环下提高阀的性能。
发明背景
球阀在本领域中是众所周知的,在授予Corbin等人并由本发明的受让人所拥有的美国专利No.4685488中介绍了一种在商业上非常成功的球阀,该专利的全部公开内容通过引用完全结合于本文中。
在额定的压力下,使用聚合物作为球形填密件的材料的球阀通常被限制在其额定的或规定的高温和低温工作范围内。这是因为填密材料会以与通常由不锈钢制成的其它阀元件不同的速率膨胀和收缩。在较高的温度下,填密材料变软且趋于流动或蠕变,并且可能在高温度下的阀动作期间发生永久性变形或其它方式的损坏。这种填密件的损坏可能导致泄漏,在阀回到环境温度下时尤其如此。在较冷的温度下,填密材料变硬且刚性增大,在某些情况下由于填密件会在较低温度下产生收缩,因此填密件上的密封应力可能会降低。这种应力损失可能会在低温下产生泄漏。虽然已经知道可在球阀中引入动载荷充填技术以提高球阀的额定工作温度范围,然而整体的改进仍受限于填密材料自身的温度响应特性。
一直需要一种具有聚合物型球填密材料的球阀,其在额定压力下具有提高的额定工作温度范围和温度循环性能。
发明概述
本发明提出了一种球阀装置,其中可在一定的温度范围内将整体式填密件安装到阀元件上,使得基本上不会改变填密材料的机械性能。本发明还提出了装配方法。本发明还提出了一种阀元件和填密件,其中可选择不同的尺寸以便通过诸如减小填密材料的体积和在将填密件安装到阀上之后在填密件上提供更均匀的载荷分布来提高阀的额定工作温度范围和循环寿命。本发明的各个方面均可选择性地应用于多件式填密件中。此外,本发明提出了一种球体和耳轴设计,其可在阀元件的填密件在温度变化下膨胀和收缩时使球阀元件轴向地浮动或移动。本发明的另一方面涉及与阀元件的轴向浮动相结合的施加到阀元件的填密件上的动载荷的使用。

发明的详细介绍

本发明的各个方面显示于图中,其体现为球阀10,该球阀10具有阀体12,其带有用于将阀10安装在流体回路中的适当端接接头14和16。相应的孔18a和18b从各端接接头14,16中延伸出来且穿过阀体12,并通到阀体12中的形成于这两个孔之间的中央球体容纳阀腔20中。阀元件组件22部分地设置在阀腔20中并从中延伸出来。阀元件组件22包括流量控制球体24,其最好与阀的促动杆26加工成一个整体,但这并不是必须的。球体24具有被加工成从中穿过的中央流体通道或孔27,并且形成了与阀体的孔18a和18b对齐的开口或杆孔27a和27b,从而允许流体在阀处于图中所示打开位置时在它们之间流动。当将杆26和球体24旋转到使孔27a,27b不与阀体孔18a,18b对齐的位置时,阀处于关闭位置,流体的流动被阻断。例如,通过将球体24旋转90度(1/4圈)便可关闭阀10。
阀杆26延伸穿过阀体12的可选择地带有外螺纹的整体式阀盖12a。杆26还可包括用于手动操作的手柄(未示出),或者可连接到阀执行机构(未示出)如电动或气动或液压执行机构上。杆26围绕其纵向轴线X的旋转导致球体24在阀腔20内旋转,从而打开和关闭阀。
阀杆26还包括上耳轴28和下耳轴30。上耳轴28和下耳轴30与阀填密件32一起可帮助阀元件22在阀腔20内的对齐和轴颈连接。根据本发明的一个方面,在室温下在填密件32的内表面和球体24及耳轴28,30的外表面之间形成了非常紧密的配合或干涉配合。另外,在将阀元件组件22安装并完全压入到阀腔20中之后,在球体周围的球形部分和容纳耳轴的部分中的填密件32的外表面和腔20的表面之间在室温下存在着干涉配合。这些直径上的和耳轴的干涉配合为填密件32和杆表面24,28及30(即球体和耳轴的表面)之间提供了更大且更均匀分布的密封作用力或压力,并且填密件32上所需的动载荷比现有技术的阀更小。
根据本发明的一个方面,阀填密件32在杆表面24,28及30与阀体12之间提供了液密密封。在该实施例中,填密件32在阀的动作期间相对于阀杆26和球体24的旋转来说是固定的。在其优选但非唯一的形式中,参见图4,填密件32为整体式填密件,这意味着填密件为单体结构,其与阀杆26压配组装成阀元件组件22,之后再将该阀元件组件22安装到阀体12中。填密件32优选但不一定由全氟烷氧基(PFA)材料制成,并可通过传统的机加工或模制工艺来制造。其它用于填密件32的适当材料包括但不限于超高分子量聚乙烯、PTFE(聚四氟乙烯)和PTFE的变体如带填充物的PTFE、聚醚醚酮(PEEK)、带填充物的PFA或氟化乙烯丙烯共聚物。在一些应用中,还希望将整体式填密件重叠模制在耳轴和球体上。
整体式填密件32通常是圆柱形,并包括一个中央的纵向孔50。该孔50相对于球体24和耳轴28,30的外径的大小被加工成使其在室温下可与之形成干涉配合,同时又可在室温下利用合适的工具卡扣或压配组装在球体24和耳轴28,30上。如图4A中最佳地示出,填密件的内表面51形成有可与杆的外形、尤其是与球体24和耳轴28,30的外形大致相符的轮廓或外形。这样,在阀元件为球形体的实施例中,内表面51为大致球形,并且具有可与球体24形成干涉配合的尺寸。填密件30内部的上部53和下部55为圆柱形,以分别与上、下耳轴28,30相符,并且其尺寸被适当地加工成可与上、下耳轴28,30形成干涉配合。然而应当注意,阀元件并不必是如图所示的球体,而是可具有例如卵形“足球”形状的其它轮廓,或者是适于特殊应用的其它轮廓。图6显示了这种阀元件轮廓的一个例子。在这种情况下,可将填密件32制成为具有大致相符的轮廓。另外,在一些应用中,在将杆安装到填密件中之前,内表面51不必严格地对应于杆的形状或轮廓,然而一旦将其最终压配到阀体中,其将与杆的轮廓基本上相符,从而能充分地密封球体和耳轴。
填密件32还包括许多形成于填密件32的圆柱形壁54上的开口52a-d。这些成对的开口如52a/52d或52b/52c在直径方向上彼此相对,从而与球体24的孔27a和27b同心地对齐。在所示的例子中,当阀处于关闭位置时开口52b和52c与通道27对齐,当阀处于打开状态时开口52a和52d与通道27对齐。孔50的下端口50a也可用作通到形成于杆26上的底部安装口的孔,其如图5所示并将在后文中介绍。
对于在阀10处于打开位置时用于使流体流动的开口(如图4中的开口52a和52d)而言,可设置经滑动配合而插入到这些开口中的支撑环42,44。支撑环42,44分别包括通孔42a和44a,其用于在阀10处于打开位置时允许流体从中流过。支撑环42,44可在开口52的区域中支撑填密件32,以防止填密件被挤入到通道27或端口27a和27b中。为了增强这种效果,支撑环42,44可设有内平面62,其在将支撑环安装到填密件中时与X轴线大致对齐。这些平面提高了支撑环的刚性,从而提高了它们在载荷下对填密材料的支撑。
各开口52a-d均可包括内部的周向突起的凸缘64。这些凸缘可防止支撑环42,44在杆26旋转时无意中接触到球体24的外表面。
在特定的阀结构(例如在二通阀只需要两个开口52)中不需要使用多个开口52(例如开口52c或52b)时,这些不使用的开口都可用适当的盘片或塞子60来堵住(图4)。各盘片60均滑动配合到其相应的开口52中。盘片60支撑了填密件32,使其不会冷流挤压和蠕变到通道27的区域中。
盘片60(以及支撑环42,44)可由任何适当的材料如不锈钢制成,优选但并不一定是弯曲的或形成为其它形状,使其外表面与填密件32的外轮廓相符,而其内表面与填密件32的内轮廓相符(在所示实施例中应当注意的是,填密件32具有圆柱形的外表面轮廓,而其内表面轮廓包括有球形部分和圆柱形部分)。盘片60安放于相应开口52的内凸缘64上,从而不会接触到球体的表面。
为了将填密件32安装到阀元件22上(不同于重叠模制工艺),通过压配合来将填密件32与整体式的球体和杆装配在一起,填密件32卡扣或滑入到杆26上的适当位置,并越过上耳轴28或下耳轴30以及球体24的外表面或直径,其中球体的直径必须大于耳轴28,30的直径。如果填密件32的体积过大,那么在室温下填密件32将过于刚硬且不易弯曲,以致于不能滑动到球体24上的图中所示位置处。根据本发明的一个方面,将阀元件22机加工成使得球体24的直径D1仅稍稍大于耳轴28,30的相应直径D2,D3(见图3)中的任一个或全部。根据所选的阀设计,耳轴的直径D2,D3可以相同或者不同。
在现有技术的球阀中,耳轴与球体的直径比(D2/D1或D3/D1)通常是0.3-0.65。根据本发明,该比值应当优选为约0.7到约0.9,最好是约0.70到约0.76。这一明显更高的比值(相对球体的直径增大了耳轴)显著地减少了填密件32的质量体积,这是因为耳轴与阀腔20之间的间隙减少。填密件32的质量体积的减少还使填密件32在室温下更加柔韧,从而允许在室温下将填密件32通过卡扣配合或压配合而安装在阀元件22上。由于球体24只是略大于耳轴28,30,因此在将阀元件22安装到阀体12中之前,可在室温下容易地将更加柔韧的填密件32安装到阀元件22上。这便极大地简化了装配工艺,从而降低了装配时间和成本。
这里所用的用语“室温”只是指填密材料在其性能如弹性特征方面不会显著变化的温度范围。用于室温装配的示例性但非必须的范围是约65-100°F。换句话说,“室温”是指填密件基本上保持在其正常情况下而不会显著改变其机械性能如其弹性的温度范围。
在这一点上应当注意的是,用于将整体式填密件设于阀杆/球体/耳轴元件上的另一工艺是将填密件重叠模制在适当的位置上。换句话说,利用传统的模制技术将填密件直接模制在杆上。重叠模制工艺消除了将填密件32滑入到杆上的适当位置处的装配步骤。然而,通过重叠模制在适当位置处的整体式填密件也可以实现会导致填密件质量体积减小的本发明的其它优点和方面。
下面接着介绍阀10的结构,在阀填密件32的上表面的轴向附近处设有填密件压盖34。这种填密件压盖34例如可由不锈钢制成,其用来帮助在温度升高时抑制填密件32,还用作对填密件32提供动载荷的推力垫圈。压盖34的内径与上耳轴28的外径D2之间的直径间隙以及压盖34的外径与阀腔20的直径之间的直径间隙均受到控制,以便使压盖34可抑制填密件32,从而降低或减少在温度升高时的蠕变或挤压,并且还用作对填密件32加载的推力垫圈。多个盘簧36或其它适当的加载件轴向地堆叠起来(参照杆26的纵向轴线X),并且压在压盖34上。负载件36对压盖34和填密件32施加动载荷,从而可在较高和较低的温度下维持对填密件32的充分密封压缩。“动载荷”指当阀在高于或低于室温或环境温度下工作时,负载件36可持续地对压盖34和填密件32施加载荷力。通过带螺纹的填密螺栓38便可压缩负载件36并将其保持在适当的位置,该螺栓38通过螺纹来安装在阀体12的上部或杆容纳延伸部分12a上。
下耳轴30在填密件32的底部32a之下轴向地延伸到形成于阀体12中的沉孔40内。在下耳轴30和沉孔40的直径之间优选具有紧密的间隙配合。这种紧密的间隙配合有助于抑制填密件32下部的蠕变或挤压,保持填密件32和球体24之间的接触应力,并且保持填密件32和阀腔20的粗糙表面(例如通过喷砂处理而变得粗糙)之间的接触应力,以防止在阀的动作期间填密件32在阀体12内旋转。对填密件下部32a的抑制降低了填密件在非环境温度和特别低的温度下的应力弛豫。填密件的上部和下部的抑制特征允许阀元件22轴向地运动,以补偿填密件32在热循环中的膨胀和收缩。
当阀10处于完全打开的位置时,填密件32的开口52a和52d分别与球体流体通道的杆孔27a和27b同心地对齐。在孔27a和27b处,止动环或支撑环42,44以及盘片60分别定位在填密件32的开口52a-d中并有助于抑制填密件32,以防止填密材料挤入到球体的通道27以及孔27a和27b中。
阀如下所述地进行装配。在适当的时候将支撑环42,44和盘片60插入到填密件32的开口52a-d中。这样,支撑环和盘片还可在装配工艺期间有助于支撑填密件32。然后如上所述地将填密件32安装在阀杆26上。将包括球体/杆24/26、整体式填密件32和支撑环42,44(以及如有需要将使用的盘片60)在内的阀元件组件22安装在阀体12的阀腔20中。在将组件22插入到阀体中时,可使用适当的工具来对齐并压缩组件22。压盖34和载荷件36可在将阀元件组件安装到阀体12中之前安装到填密件32上,或在将阀元件组件安装到阀体中之后进行安装。然后将填密螺栓38拧入到阀杆的延伸部分12a中,以便完成装配。螺栓38可拧紧到适当的扭矩或一定的圈数,以便在填密件32上作用所需的载荷。
根据本发明的另一方面,减小填密件的体积或构成整体式填密件的材料的量可通过降低填密件高度(图3中“H”)与填密件外径D4的比值(H/D4)来实现。在图3中,填密件高度标为“H”。这便可通过与上文所述的增大耳轴与球体直径之比相类似的方式来减少用于填密件32的填密材料。由于只需少量的填密材料便可充分地密封该阀,因此在高温和低温以及热循环下因温度变化而引起的负面影响均减少。在典型的现有技术的球阀中,填密件高度与填密件外径的比值处于0.9到1.1的范围内,而在本发明中,填密件高度与填密件外径的比值为约0.75到约0.85,最佳值为约0.8。相对于采用传统的耳轴直径与球体直径之比或填密件高度与填密件外径之比的现有技术的球阀而言,控制这些比值的整体效果是将填密件体积减少了约15%到约50%,从而提供了显著提高的热性能。
应当注意的是,这里所介绍的各个比值可根据阀的尺寸而变化,这是很重要的。例如,这里用于D3/D1的示例性比值范围是为用于1/4英寸管道系统的球阀元件而设计的。根据本发明,可对比值D2/D1或D3/D1进行选择,使其可促进在室温下将填密件装配到阀元件上。此外,还可对H/D4的比值进行选择,使其可减少填密件的体积并从而提高热性能。
扩大耳轴的构思为填密件32提供了可传递到填密件下部中的更有效的动载荷。在现有技术的小耳轴设计中,大部分垂直载荷均由阀杆的球体部分24来承受。相比而言,带有扩大的耳轴直径的本发明将动载荷集中成朝向填密件加载,并将该载荷和所导致的填实密封应力传递到填密件的下部,从而提供了分布得均匀得多且有效得多的载荷应力,以便保持密封。
申请人已经发现,在某些情况下支撑环42,44可能会在填密件使用之后因装配过程中所产生的热膨胀或过大载荷而被垂直地压碎。根据本发明,通过在支撑环42,44的内径上提供垂直平面62,就可实现针对垂直破碎的提高的阻力。该平面应当与阀10的中心线(图中的X轴)垂直地对齐。这些平面也可用作定位导向结构,以保证支撑环在安装期间的正确定向。在盘片60上可使用凹槽或其它的适当标记63,以保证盘片60的正确定向。
为了防止杆孔27a和27b的边缘在阀的动作(球体旋转)过程中夹住填密材料,可在各杆孔27a,27b的周围设置折边(edge break),这是优选但非必须的。
根据本发明的另一方面,应当注意的是,杆26和整体式球体24在轴向上(沿着X轴)没有受到动载荷盘簧36和下方沉孔40的约束。因此,杆26可在会导致填密件32产生膨胀和收缩的温度变化下自由地移动。这有助于在填密件32上维持一致且有效的载荷。
图5显示了结合有本发明的阀68的另一实施例。在该示例中,在球体24中形成有与第三接头70流体式相通的底部端口(未示出)。阀的其它元件与上述实施例中的相同。
在上文中已经参照优选实施例介绍了本发明。通过阅读和理解本说明书,他人能够构思出许多修改和变化。只要落入于所附权利要求或其等同物的范围内,所有这些修改和变化都应被包括在本发明中。
Claims (34)
1.一种阀,包括:
其中具有阀腔的阀体;
阀元件,其可根据所述阀元件围绕轴线的旋转位置来控制通过所述阀的流动;和
围绕着所述阀元件并将所述阀元件密封在所述阀腔内的整体式填密件;
所述整体式填密件的尺寸制成为适于在室温范围内安装到所述阀元件上。
2.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述室温范围为约65-100°F。
3.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件具有由高度H和外径D4所限定的大致圆柱形的外表面,所述填密件具有为约0.75到约0.85的比值H/D4。
4.根据权利要求3所述的阀,其特征在于,所述比值H/D4为约0.8。
5.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述阀元件包括球体和相邻的上、下耳轴;所述球体具有外径D1,所述耳轴中的至少其中之一具有外径D3;所述阀元件具有为约0.7到约0.9的比值D3/D1。
6.根据权利要求5所述的阀,其特征在于,所述比值D3/D1为约0.8。
7.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件具有由高度H和外径D4所限定的大致圆柱形的外表面,所述填密件具有为约0.75到约0.85的比值H/D4;所述阀元件包括球体和相邻的上、下耳轴;所述球体具有外径D1,所述耳轴中的至少其中之一具有外径D3;所述阀元件具有为约0.7到约0.9的比值D3/D1。
8.根据权利要求7所述的阀,其特征在于,所述比值H/D4为约0.8,所述比值D3/D1为约0.8。
9.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件包含聚合物。
10.根据权利要求9所述的阀,其特征在于,所述聚合物选自聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)、聚乙烯、聚醚醚酮(PEEK)和氟化乙烯丙烯共聚物。
11.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述阀元件包括非球形的流量控制件。
12.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件具有内表面,在将所述填密件加载到所述阀体中之前,当将所述填密件安装在所述阀元件之上时,所述内表面可与所述阀元件形成干涉配合。
13.根据权利要求1所述的阀,其特征在于,在将所述填密件加载到所述阀腔中之前,当将所述填密件安装在所述阀元件上并插入到所述阀腔内时,所述填密件可与所述阀腔形成干涉配合。
14.一种装配阀的方法,包括步骤:
形成适于将阀元件密封在阀腔内的整体式填密件;和
在所述填密件的机械性能基本上无变化的温度范围内,将所述填密件安装到所述阀元件上。
15.根据权利要求14所述的方法,其特征在于,所述形成所述填密件的步骤包括机加工所述填密件的步骤。
16.根据权利要求14所述的方法,其特征在于,所述温度范围选择成使得所述填密材料的机械性能与所述填密材料在70°F下的机械性能相比基本上没有变化。
17.一种阀,包括:
其中具有阀腔的阀体;
阀元件,其可根据所述阀元件围绕轴线的旋转位置来控制通过所述阀的流动;和
围绕着所述阀元件并将所述阀元件密封在所述阀腔内的填密件;
以及
所述阀元件包括球体和相邻的上、下耳轴;所述球体具有外径D1,所述耳轴中的至少其中之一具有外径D3;所述阀元件具有为约0.7到约0.9的比值D3/D1。
18.根据权利要求17所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件具有由高度H和外径D4所限定的大致圆柱形的外表面,所述填密件具有为约0.75到约0.85的比值H/D4。
19.根据权利要求17所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件包含选自PFA、带填充物的PFA、聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)、带填充物的PTFE、聚乙烯、聚醚醚酮(PEEK)和氟化乙烯丙烯共聚物的聚合物。
20.根据权利要求17所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件的尺寸制成为适于在低于所述填密件会产生变形的温度下安装到所述阀元件上。
21.根据权利要求20所述的阀,其特征在于,所述温度为室温。
22.根据权利要求17所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件为整体式填密件。
23.根据权利要求17所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件重叠模制在所述阀元件上。
24.一种阀,包括:
其中具有阀腔的阀体;
阀元件,其可根据所述阀元件围绕轴线的旋转位置来控制通过所述阀的流动;和
围绕着所述阀元件并将所述阀元件密封在所述阀腔内的填密件;
以及
所述阀元件包括球体和相邻的上、下耳轴;
所述填密件具有由高度H和外径D4所限定的大致圆柱形的外表面,所述填密件具有为约0.75到约0.85的比值H/D4。
25.根据权利要求24所述的阀,其特征在于,所述球体具有外径D1,所述耳轴中的至少其中之一具有外径D3;所述阀元件具有为约0.7到约0.9的比值D3/D1。
26.根据权利要求24所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件为整体式填密件。
27.根据权利要求24所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件为多件式填密件。
28.根据权利要求24所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件在室温下安装到所述阀元件上。
29.一种阀元件和整体式填密件的组合体,其中所述填密件在室温下安装到所述阀元件上。
30.根据权利要求29所述的组合体,其特征在于,所述阀元件包括球体和阀杆,以及至少一个与所述球体相邻的耳轴。
31.一种阀,包括:
其中具有阀腔的阀体;
阀元件,其可根据所述阀元件围绕轴线的旋转位置来控制通过所述阀的流动;和
围绕着所述阀元件并将所述阀元件密封在所述阀腔内的填密件;
所述阀元件包括球体和相邻的上、下耳轴;所述球体具有外径D1,所述耳轴中的至少其中之一具有外径D3;所述阀元件具有可便于在室温下将所述填密件安装到所述阀元件上的比值D3/D1。
32.一种阀,包括:
其中具有阀腔的阀体;
阀元件,其可根据所述阀元件围绕轴线的旋转位置来控制通过所述阀的流动;和
围绕着所述阀元件并将所述阀元件密封在所述阀腔内的填密件;
所述阀元件包括球体和相邻的上、下耳轴;所述阀腔的尺寸适于紧密地容纳所述阀元件,同时允许所述阀元件轴向地运动以补偿所述填密件上的温度效应。
33.根据权利要求32所述的阀,其特征在于,所述阀腔包括直径减小的孔,其容纳了所述下耳轴并可防止填密材料蠕变到所述下耳轴的下方。
34.根据权利要求32所述的阀,其特征在于,所述填密件承受到动载荷。
