Abstract

            对相关申请的交叉引用
本申请要求2002年6月20日提交的美国临时申请60/390,245的优先权,其整个内容在这里引作参考。
                 背景技术
本发明一般涉及便携式照明装置(例如闪光灯),特别涉及一种把多个发光二极管(LED)用作光源的照明装置。
许多光照装置如闪光灯一般把白炽灯用作光源。发光二极管(LED)较之现有白炽灯有许多优点。LED耐用,灯泡寿命约为8,000小时;由于它们工作时漏电小,因此向LED供电的储能蓄电池的使用寿命延长。尽管有这些优点,但LED的某些方面限制了它们在某些场合如在便携式照明装置中的使用。当前市场上销售的最好的标准5mm白色LED的额定值一般为3.6v、30毫安(mA),生成的光不到4流明。与此比较,普通照明装置中使用的电压额定值相同的白炽灯一般生成10流明到大于40流明的光输出。
当前克服LED不足的一种办法是在照明装置中把多个LED用作光源。某些便携式照明装置的光源当前使用多达10个甚至10个以上LED,从而照明装置的成本增加。此外,各LED发出的光线分散(例如40°),只把多个LED用作光源并不解决问题。
另一种解决方案见美国专利No.5,174,649,该专利使用一个或多个LED照射呈双曲表面的折射透镜件,从而在该折射透镜件内把LED发出的光线转换成平行光束。在闪光灯中使用多个LED的另一种方案见美国专利No.6,485,160,该专利使用多个反射井,每个反射井中装有LED和透镜。尽管上述方案能把从多个LED发出的光集中照射到预定区域,但仍存在一些缺点。例如,复杂折射透镜件的制作和需要使用多个反射井使得照明装置的成本和复杂性增加。
鉴于上述缺点,便携式照明装置需要有一种使用LED的能发出定向、集中的光的照明系统。
                     发明内容
按照本发明,提供一种使用多个LED照射目标区域的照明装置。该照明装置包括壳体和位于该壳体上的相间隔的第一和第二发光二极管。该照明装置还包括设置在第一发光二极管光路上、把第一光束聚焦在目标区上的第一放大透镜和设置在第二发光二极管光路上、把第二光束聚焦在该目标区上的第二放大透镜。该照明装置还有相对第一和第二发光二极管支撑第一和第二放大透镜的支撑件。
在本发明另一方面中,该支撑件为伸展在壳体前部上的盖,该盖有非反射内壁。在本发明另一方面中,该照明装置包括第一和第二放大凸透镜。第一和第二LED的轴线互相平行,两放大透镜分别与第一和第二LED的轴线正交。
本发明照明装置在降低成本的同时不失LED的优点。该照明装置设计成由每个LED与放大透镜的组合生成聚光光束,该聚光光束与相邻LED和放大透镜的组合生成的聚光光束重合。用来照明该目标区的聚光光束对称性好、光强又高又均匀。
从以下说明、权利要求和附图可进一步理解本发明的上述和其他特征、优点和目的。

                     具体实施方式
图1示出本发明使用多个发光二极管(LED)和多个放大透镜的照明装置10的实施例。所示照明装置10为具有可套在使用者头上的可调带16的头套式闪光灯(例如聚光灯)。尽管本文所示、所述照明装置10为头套式闪光灯,但应指出,照明装置10可用于若干向目标区提供光照的照明系统中的任一照明系统。
如图1-3所示,照明装置10一般包括与可调带(头带)16连接的后壳体14。该后壳体14中有内装多个用作电源的储能蓄电池52(例如AA型碱性电池)的电池室。照明装置10还包括内装照明装置10的光源和光聚焦部件的前壳体组件12。该前壳体组件12有构成后壁和侧壁的模制壳体18。壳体18中有印刷电路板20,其上有灯控制开关22和其他电路(未示出),从而通过控制从电源向光源的电流供应来控制照明装置10的接通。按照一个实施例,该控制开关22为手动、三位置开关,在第一位置上所有LED关闭,在第二位置上两LED打开,在第三位置上第三LED打开。
照明装置10的光源包括多个与印刷电路板20连接的发光二极管(LED),印刷电路板又与壳体18连接。这些LED包括分别生成第一和第二光束的相间隔的第一LED24和第二LED26。第一与第二LED24和26之间有发出第三光束的第三LED28。用作本发明照明装置10中的光源的LED24、26和28在市场上有多种来源。市售白色LED的一个例子是Nichia Corporation的Model No.NSPW500BS。应该指出,很容易从各供应商购得各种LED。使用者可选择任何颜色的LED24、26和28。按照一实施例,第一和第二LED24和26为Nichia Corporation生产的白色LED,第三LED28为红色LED。
照明装置10还包括固定在前壳体18上、盖住印刷电路板20的内盖30。内盖30上有供第一、第二和第三LED24-28穿出到内盖30前方的孔。内盖30前面装有在LED24、26和28前方盖住盖30前面的外盖和支撑件32。外盖和支撑件32支撑第一和第二放大透镜34和36并构成在前壳体18上的盖子。外盖和支撑件32的内壁为非反射,因此不反射光线。第一和第二放大透镜34和36可一体化制成在外盖和支撑件32内,也可装在外盖和支撑件32上。按照一实施例,外盖和支撑件32用聚合材料(例如塑料)制成,放大透镜34和36一体化制成在聚合材料内。在另一实施例中,盖件32用透光的透明材料制成。
放大透镜34和36为放大在透镜中传输的光后发出放大光束的透光光学放大镜。按照一实施例,放大透镜34和36各构作成所示双凸放大透镜。按照另一实施例,放大透镜34和36各包括平凸放大透镜。放大透镜34和36各有至少一个凸面对该光束进行放大、聚焦。放大透镜34和36可用任何透明材料如玻璃或聚合物(例如聚碳酸酯)制成。放大透镜34和36的尺寸视使用者要求的聚光直径而定。本发明使用的放大透镜34和36在市场上有多种来源,可使用EdmundIndustrial Optics出售的Model No.NT32-018聚碳酸酯双凸放大透镜,其直径为9mm,焦距为9mm。
电线54和56伸展在前壳体18中印刷电路板18与后壳体14中的储能电池52之间。电线54和56把电流(例如直流电)从电池52供给LED24-28使其生成对应光束。按照一实施例,第三LED可与LED24和26分开发光,其光束颜色与LED24和26不同。按照一实施例,LED24和26发白光,而LED28发红光。
前壳体组件12底部支撑件32底边上有与后壳体14连接的铰链组件58。铰链组件58可围绕水平轴线转动,从而前壳体组件12和对应LED24-28和放大透镜34和36可相对后壳体14转动,使得使用者可转动前壳体组件12调节照明光束的高度设置。
LED24-28和放大透镜34和36的照明系统布置从图3-5可看得最清楚。第一和第二LED24和26相对放大透镜34和36布置成生成第一和第二光束44和46。第一LED24照射第一放大透镜34生成总视角约为40°的第一光束。第一LED24生成的几乎所有光照射到第一放大透镜34后经放大成为图4和5中虚线44所示光路上的第一光束。同样,第二LED26照射第二放大透镜34生成总视角约为40°的第二光束。第二LED26生成的光照射到第二放大透镜36后再聚焦成虚线46所示第二光路上的光束。
光束44和46在共同目标区50上重合成对称性好、光强均匀的聚光光束。使用聚焦在目标区50上的第一和第二LED24和26和放大透镜34和36的布置,目标区50的亮度得以提高。
第三LED28生成的虚线48所示光路上的光束从放大透镜34与36之间的开口穿过。LED28发出的光48的总视角约为40°。因此第三LED28生成的光束48大部分不照射到放大透镜上,因此没有被放大聚焦在目标区50上。相反,第三LED28发出的光照射范围很广而用作探照灯。
三个LED24-28各包括接受电流的二极管24A、26A和28A。二极管24A、26A和28A通电时发出光线。二极管24A、26A和28A分别封装在透明壳体24B、26B和28B内。尽管在本文中示出、说明了灯型LED,但照明装置10中也可使用其他LED。
第一和第二LED24和26的中心之间相距距离D。在一实施例中,距离D为18.2mm。放大透镜34和36可为玻璃(SF5)双凸放大透镜,在一实施例中该透镜的直径为9mm,有效焦距为9mm。放大透镜34与第一LED24正交,而放大透镜36与第二LED26正交。第一和第二LED24和26的中心焦轴互相平行。按照一实施例,放大透镜34和36表面离其LED顶端的距离为LA和LB,使得后焦距为7.9mm。这也是第一和第二LED24和26内的焦点与对应的放大透镜34和36的表面之间的距离LA和LB
第一LED24和放大透镜34组合生成的聚光光束与第二LED26和放大透镜36组合生成的聚光光束大致重合。光束44和46由于垂直LED24和26和放大透镜34和36组合的位置偏移而导致不完全重合。但是,LED24和26和放大透镜34和36的组合较之一个LED,光束强度达200%。
因此,本发明照明装置10以最低成本生成聚焦在目标区50上的光强度提高的均匀聚光光束。尽管光束44和46由于与LED24和26正交的放大透镜34和36的位置偏移而不完全重合,但生成的光束44和46在目标区50中大致重合。通过向共同目标区倾斜放大透镜34和36使得光束44和46聚焦在重合目标区上可进一步改善该重合目标区50。但是放大透镜34和36的倾斜会改变生成的光束44和46的形状。
本发明照明系统可使用任何公知电源。可使用AC和DC电流。也可使用普通干电池蓄电池如锌/二氧化锰、碳/锌、镍金属氢化物或基于锂的电化学电池。
本领域普通技术人员不难看出,可在所公开原理的范围内对本发明作出种种修正和改进。保护范围决定于权利要求和专利法容许的解释宽度。

Claims (16)

1.一种照明装置,包括:
壳体;
该壳体上的第一发光二极管;
该壳体上与第一发光二极管相间隔的第二发光二极管;
设置在第一发光二极管光路上、把第一光束聚焦在目标区上的第一放大透镜;
设置在第二发光二极管光路上、把第二光束聚焦在该目标区上的第二放大透镜;以及
相对第一和第二发光二极管分别支撑第一和第二放大透镜的支撑件。
2.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该支撑件包括非反射内壁。
3.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该支撑件包括该壳体的盖。
4.按权利要求3所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该盖包括透明材料。
5.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,其特征在于,第一和第二放大透镜各包括放大凸透镜。
6.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,其特征在于,第一和第二放大透镜各包括平凸放大透镜。
7.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,其特征在于,第一和第二放大透镜与对应的第一和第二发光二极管的光路正交。
8.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该装置使用在闪光灯上。
9.按权利要求1所述的照明装置,进一步包括固定在该壳体上的电路板,其特征在于,第一和第二发光二极管与该电路板连接。
10.一种照明装置,包括:
壳体;
该壳体上的第一发光二极管;
该壳体上与第一发光二极管相间隔的第二发光二极管;
设置在第一发光二极管光路上并且用于把第一光束聚焦在目标区上的包括凸面的第一放大透镜;
设置在第二发光二极管光路上并且用于把第二光束聚焦在该目标区上的包括凸面的第二放大透镜,第二放大透镜与第一放大透镜相间隔;以及
在该壳体前面上设置的盖,所述盖相对第一和第二发光二极管分别支撑第一和第二放大透镜的支撑件。
11.按权利要求10所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该盖包括透明材料。
12.按权利要求10所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该盖包括非反射内壁。
13.按权利要求10所述的照明装置,其特征在于,第一和第二放大透镜各包括放大凸透镜。
14.按权利要求10所述的照明装置,其特征在于,第一和第二放大透镜各包括平凸放大透镜。
15.按权利要求10所述的照明装置,其特征在于,第一和第二放大透镜与对应的第一和第二发光二极管的光路正交。
16.按权利要求10所述的照明装置,其特征在于,该装置使用在闪光灯上。
