本文所用术语“表面”是指能够在其上接受颜色组分的物体或底物的任何外层或边界。合适的表面可以为大致二维的和平坦的或为大致三维的并包括弯曲处、角形部分等。在一个实施方案中,利用本发明的制品和方法涂敷颜色组分的表面包括建筑表面,即建筑物、房屋灯具(即电器)、家具等的表面。建筑物表面可以是在建筑物内部的内表面或在建筑物外部的外表面。大致三维的建筑表面可包括例如二维表面如板条(例如,绕窗户或门道的板条)、地板、器具、家具、地面、柜台等的边缘处理。建筑表面可被永久地安装也可被暂时地安装或者是便携式的。本发明的产品还能被涂敷到制品的表面上,使其具有与建筑表面相同或不同的纹理和/或外观。例如,这种产品可用来将颜色层涂敷到器具、家具和其它的建筑制品上。根据本公开内容,对于本领域的技术人员来说,适于利用本发明的制品和方法涂敷颜色的其它表面将是显而易见的。
参考图1并依照本发明的原则,将颜色涂敷到表面16上的制品10包括可视觉感知的颜色效果的薄片12(例如干颜色组分)、键合剂14(例如粘合剂)、覆盖薄片12的可分离衬料18、以及位于键合剂14之间的阻挡层20。薄片可包括形成于任何合适材料的外涂层15,材料包括但不限于聚合物,如聚氨酯、聚氯乙烯、聚偏二氟乙烯、聚丙烯酸酯、纤维素材料等,以及它们的共混物和共聚物。键合剂为在制品10外界的环境温度下能够将薄片12粘合到表面16上的任何物质。在本发明的某些实施方案中,薄片12可具有的厚度小于或等于约0.084mm(3.3密耳或0.0033英寸)。
可分离衬料18为可移除的并旨在和适于移除,同时涂敷或随后涂敷薄片12到表面16上。典型地,通过将衬料18剥离薄片12将可分离衬料18移除。可分离衬料18向薄片12提供结构支撑和/或强度(例如当可分离衬料为薄膜形式时),和/或有利于在加工、存储和使用期间处理制品,且可任选地用于将末道漆传送到薄片12。示例性的制品10描述于命名为“Articles and Methods forApplying Color on Surfaces”的普通转让申请系列10/324,237,其公开内容据此全文引入本文以供参考。
本文使用参考术语如“垂直”、“水平”、“下”、“上”等是作为实施例以建立一参照系,而不是作为限制。应当理解,在不背离本发明精神和范围的条件下,可使用各种其它参照系。
继续参考图1,阻挡层20可为预防性阻挡层20并通过包括但不限于扩散和迁移的机理消除或至少明显阻挡外来物质或试剂转移到薄片12内,外来物质或试剂起源于将要涂敷颜色的表面16,在图1中示出并指定为参考数字21。外来试剂21被理解为因以有限浓度存在于薄片12中而被认为是外来的试剂,或者通过增加正常存在于薄片12中的试剂现存浓度而被认为是外来的。一种此类外来试剂21为存在于现有层中(例如现有的油漆层)的有机颜色或染料,其在制品10被涂敷之前位于表面16上或覆盖表面16,且键合剂14与其机械连接以将制品10粘合到表面16上。
阻挡层20可作为物理屏障,其通过限定不能透过的或不可渗透的屏障来妨碍、阻止或换句话讲防止向外来试剂21的通过或渗透转移,使得制品12性质的降解得以防止或减弱,例如防止发生脱色。可供选择地,阻挡层20可减慢或延缓外来试剂21的转移速率,使得至少在提供表面16颜色的制品10的使用期限内薄片12的性质(例如颜色)不会被可觉察地影响。可调整阻挡层20的厚度和性质以提供所需的阻挡或延迟。阻挡层20的厚度小于或等于约0.064 mm(2.5密耳或0.0025in),并且在本发明的某些实施方案中,阻挡层20可为0.025mm(0.1密耳或0.001英寸)或更薄。
阻挡层20图示说明在图1中,其作为可确认的层或薄层掺入到制品10的分层结构中。在本发明一个可供选择的实施方案中,阻挡层20a,特征在于性质与阻挡层20完全相同,可作为键合剂14的组分掺入。在另一个可供选择的实施方案中,阻挡层20b,特征在于性质与阻挡层20完全相同,可作为薄片12的组分掺入。阻挡层20a和20b可作为分别位于键合剂14或薄片12厚度内的层或薄层而被隔离开,或者可均匀分布在相应的键合剂14或薄片12之一的整个厚度内。阻挡层20、20a和20b可单独使用或以任何排列或组合掺入到制品10中。每个阻挡层20、20a和20b可组合本文所述的两个或多个候补材料。应当理解,本文所述阻挡层20的性质同样适用于阻挡层20a和20b。
通常,除了别的以外,阻挡层20所需的特性和性质还将取决于外来试剂21的特性及其在阻挡层20内的传送机理。已知几种因素影响试剂例如外来试剂21在材料例如阻挡层20内的传送性质。形成阻挡层20的聚合物的化学本性影响传送,这是由于据信随着保持聚合物链在一起的力的强度增加,外来试剂的转移降低。聚合物主链被公认为是决定链与链间作用力的重要因素。聚合物链不得不移到一旁或者打开,以容许试剂转移或渗透。带有羟基、氰基、卤素、酯和酰胺键的聚合物为阻挡层20示例性的候补材料,尽管本发明不受此限制。通常,玻璃化转变温度超过涂敷制品10的表面16外界的环境温度条件的任何聚合物将具有足够的链与链间作用力强度。
影响外来试剂21在阻挡层20内传送的另一个因素为形成阻挡层20的聚合物对水分的敏感性。
有水存在时,阻挡性取决于氢键的极性材料的阻挡性将变小。水使聚合物膨胀,这会减小链与链间的作用力并容许渗透。特征在于此类极性键的聚合物包括,但不限于,酯和氰基聚合物。
影响外来试剂21在阻挡层20内传送的另一个因素为构成阻挡层20的聚合物的填充度、结晶度和定向。增加阻挡层20的结晶度可由于自由体积减小而改进阻挡性。增加定向也可改进阻挡性,这是由于试剂转移的通道变成更曲折的通道。然而,材料的硬度也会随着结晶度和定向的增加而增加,这会降低制品10的柔韧性。
影响外来试剂21在阻挡层20内传送的另一个因素为接触薄片12或键合剂14的聚合物表面的本性。亲水的或疏水的表面及/或极性的或非极性的表面可防止,或至少减弱或延缓外来试剂21从表面16的转移。
影响外来试剂21在阻挡层20内传送的另一个因素为添加剂和调节剂的存在。添加剂典型地减弱使聚合物柔韧的链与链间的作用力,因此增加渗透。将低阻挡性的聚合物与具有可接受阻挡性的聚合物共混将增加不良阻挡材料的阻挡性。
在本发明的一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20具有如下组成的组合物:按重量计约3%至按重量计约40%的水玻璃或硅酸钠(Na2Si4O2),按重量计约3%至按重量计约40%的聚合物,按重量计约20%至按重量计约24%的水。使用硅酸钠作为阻挡层描述于美国专利1,365,715和5,460,855,其公开内容据此全文引入本文以供参考。组合物中的聚合物提供此类阻挡层20柔韧性,且水的存在可稀释组合物以有利于涂层涂敷过程。通过在高温下化合或熔融不同比率的沙子和苏打粉(即碳酸钠)来制造硅酸钠。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20包括阴离子层和阳离子层中的至少一个,其能够捕获或捕捉外来试剂21。将这种阴离子和阳离子层掺入制品10的一种合适技术是用含水分散体涂敷薄片12。合适的阳离子和阴离子含水分散体描述于美国专利6,576,327,其公开内容据此全文引入本文以供参考。例如,具体的阳离子和阴离子含水分散体可以商品名ACRONAL、BUTONAL、STYROFAN和PROPIOFAN商购自BASF Aktiengesellschaft(Ludwigshafen,Germany)。阴离子层可有效地捕获荷上正电的外来试剂21,且阳离子层可有效地捕获荷上负电的外来试剂21。通常,阻挡层20可由双层或多层结构构成,该结构由空间上分开的阴离子和阳离子层组成,从而无论外来试剂21的电荷状态如何,所有带电的外来试剂颗粒均能被捕获并确保不迁移到薄片12内。例如,上游的阴离子层将捕获荷上正电的外来试剂颗粒并传送荷上负电的外来颗粒以被更远离表面16的下游阳离子层捕获。可供选择地,可将双层或多层结构的阳离子层置于阴离子层的上游。可供选择地,可提供阴离子层或阳离子层在键合剂14内,或者作为键合剂14的组分混合,且其余的阴离子层或阳离子层可作为单独的层提供。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20为镀玻璃的聚合物。合适的镀玻璃的聚合物包括,但不限于,涂敷氧化铝的聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯聚合物及共聚物、涂敷氧化铝的聚丙烯聚合物及共聚物、涂敷氧化铝的尼龙聚合物及共聚物,以及这些材料的组合。此类玻璃涂层典型地为透明的无机材料。例如,此类玻璃涂层可通过基于等离子的沉积方法被涂敷。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20为镀陶瓷的聚合物。一种合适的涂层材料为氧化硅(SiOx),其可为化学计量的或非化学计量的,并使用硅烷为前体源通过化学气相沉积法沉积。合适的镀陶瓷的聚合物包括,但不限于,涂敷氧化硅的定向聚丙烯、涂敷氧化硅的聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯、涂敷氧化硅的定向聚乙烯醇、涂敷氧化硅的聚丙烯、涂敷氧化硅的聚乙烯,以及它们的组合。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20为基于纳米粘土的复合材料或塑性纳米复合物,其生成曲折通道使外来试剂21必须成功地穿过才能到达薄片12。基于纳米粘土的复合材料是通过将纳米粘土片状颗粒、单个片状颗粒的类晶团聚体、类晶团聚体的聚集体或它们的混合物分散在聚合物主体基质内形成的。将纳米粘土片状颗粒排列成具有多个邻近束缚层形式的片状结构,其中平面尺寸显著大于该结构的厚度。在本发明的某些实施方案中,主体聚合物树脂内的纳米粘土负荷按重量计可大于约0.5%。在本发明的其它实施方案中,主体聚合物树脂内的纳米粘土负荷可在按重量计约0.5%至约25%的范围内变化。无论如何,纳米粘土负荷足以限定通过主体聚合物树脂的曲折通道。单个片状颗粒的厚度小于约2nm,直径在约10nm至约5000nm的范围内。
纳米粘土片状颗粒可由任何合适的有机或无机材料组成,具体地讲,可由页硅酸盐组成。适用于本发明的天然页硅酸盐包括但不限于绿粘土,例如蒙脱石、滑石粉、锂蒙脱石、云母、蛭石、膨润土、囊脱石、贝得石、volkonskoite、magadite和kenyaite。适用于本发明的合成页硅酸盐包括,但不限于,合成云母、合成滑石粉及合成锂蒙脱石。合成或天然页硅酸盐可通过氟化作用或者通过添加有机阳离子而改性。适用于本发明的页硅酸盐商购自多个来源,包括Nanocor,Inc.(Arlington Heights,Illinois)。适于基质的主体聚合物树脂包括,但不限于,聚酰胺聚合物及共聚物、聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯聚合物及共聚物、聚丙烯聚合物及共聚物,以及它们的组合。纳米粘土片状颗粒可衍生自天然的、合成的及改性的页硅酸盐,其可被处理以容许掺入有机阳离子。
适用于本发明的另一种基于纳米粘土的聚合物材料为商购自Honeywell的AEGIS纳米复合物阻挡树脂,其基于尼龙6。
适用于纳米复合物的其它无机片状颗粒包括铝或锌的片状物,其具有的厚度为约3μm至约10μm,直径为约4μm至约17μm。这些无机片状颗粒可以按重量计约0.1%至按重量计约3.5%的含量提供于上述任何聚合物主体基质内。示例性的铝片状物可作为铝颜色分散体以商品名METALURE商购自Eckhart America L.P.(Louisville,Kentucky)。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20或薄片12是由具有结晶度的聚合物形成,该结晶度可限定曲折的通道。当形成阻挡层20的聚合物涂敷到表面16上时,其玻璃化转变温度应大于制品10的温度,使得组成聚合物具有低的自由体积用于外来试剂21的迁移。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,键合剂14或薄片12对外来试剂21的溶解度明显不同于外来试剂21在表面16中的溶解度。因此,外来试剂21不易从表面l6转移到键合剂14上。如果能阻止外来试剂进入键合剂14,则接着从键合剂14向薄片12的随后转移也不能发生。在这种情况下,键合剂14则充当阻挡层20起作用。可通过改变粘合剂的化学性质来改变外来试剂21在键合剂14内的溶解度,从而调节键合剂14的组成分子间的键合强度。
为改进薄片12与和阻挡层20之间和/或键合剂14与阻挡层20之间的粘合,合适的表面可为经过以下处理的表面:通过电晕处理、目标表面的粗加工以增加表面积、目标表面的膨胀、分子间混合或相互扩散、直接涂敷键合剂、层压期间施加热量或压力、包括官能化聚合物以提供共价键或分子间键合、通过压花、粉刷或其它机械方法增加一个或多个层的表面积、或者通过添加颗粒或通过溶剂刻蚀法,以及它们的组合。例如,电晕处理涉及将薄片12暴露于高电压的电晕放电,同时使薄片12通过一对间隔开的电极之间。
本发明设想本文所述任何各种类型的阻挡层20可单独使用或以相容的组合使用。例如,阻挡层20可由两层结构组成,其包括基于纳米粘土复合材料的一薄层和包含硅酸钠的一薄层。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20还可包括聚合物的薄片或薄膜,其与阻挡层20共同作用以减弱外来试剂21从表面16向薄片12的转移。还可提供聚合物薄膜作为制品10分层结构内的一薄层,该薄层明显不同于阻挡层20,或者可供选择地,聚合物薄膜可作为薄层置于薄片12内或键合剂14内。在多个实施方案中,聚合物薄片或薄膜选自聚偏二氯乙烯聚合物及共聚物、聚乙烯醇聚合物及共聚物、乙烯-乙烯醇聚合物及共聚物、聚三氟氯乙烯聚合物及共聚物、丙烯腈甲基丙烯酸酯聚合物及共聚物、聚丙烯腈聚合物及共聚物、芳族聚酰胺聚合物及共聚物、无定形聚酰胺聚合物及共聚物、聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯聚合物及共聚物、聚氯乙烯聚合物及共聚物、聚偏二氟乙烯聚合物、液晶聚合物及共聚物、聚苯乙烯、聚乙烯、丙烯酸类、苯乙烯-丙烯酸共聚物、醇酸树脂、聚氨酯、聚丙烯聚合物及共聚物、定向聚丙烯聚合物及共聚物、纤维素聚合物、共聚物及涂层、脂肪族聚酯、多羟基烷醇、聚已内酯、聚乳酸,以及它们的组合。聚合物薄膜抵抗外来试剂21的渗透从而有助于阻挡层20阻塞或限制外来试剂21向薄片12的转移。本发明设想薄片12或键合剂14可包括所列聚合物之一作为其组分,从而在制品10的分层结构内不需要明显的聚合物层。
适于用作阻挡层20内聚合物薄膜的示例性聚亚乙烯(PVDC)聚合物以商品名SARAN商购自Dow Chemical Company(Midland,Michigan)。聚乙烯醇(PVA)的示例性商业来源包括Clariant GmbH(Frankfurt,DE)和E.I.Du Pont DeNemours & Co.(Wilmington,Delaware)。示例性的乙烯一乙烯醇共聚物以商品名EVAL商购自Kuraray Co.,Ltd.(Kurashiki City,Japan)和以商品名SOARNOL商购自Nippon Gohsei(Osaka,Japan)。一种合适的聚三氟氯乙烯(PCTFE)以商品名ACLAR商购自Honeywell International Inc.(MorrisTownship,New Jersey)。合适的丙烯腈甲基丙烯酸酯共聚物以商品名BAREX商购自BP,p.l.c.(London,England)。示例性的芳族聚酰胺以商品名MDX6商购自Mitsubishi Gas Chemical America Inc.(New York,NY),还可商购自以下来源,例如Honeywell International Inc.(Morris Township,New Jersey)和BASF Aktiengesellschaft(Ludwigshafen,Germany)。适用于本发明的无定形聚酰胺以商品名SELAR PA商购自E.I.Du Pont De Nemours & Co.(Wilmington,Delaware)。示例性的液晶聚合物以商品名VECTRAN商购自Ticona(Summit,New Jersey)。
通过合成期间或不可逆化学反应将邻近链相互连接可任选地交联聚合物薄膜的聚合物、共聚物或共混聚合物(共聚物)。交联可通过共价键合到交联的链上的添加的原子或分子来实现。交联还可通过弱化学交互作用、部分微晶化、甚至物理缠绕来实现。交联可起作用以改进阻挡层20抵抗外来试剂21从粘合制品23的表面16向薄片12的转移。聚合物薄膜可形成于热塑性树脂,当其受热时软化但冷却到室温时又回到其初始状态,或者形成于热固性树脂,当其加热时为不可逆的。与热塑性树脂相反,热固性聚合物树脂已知为可交联的。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20还可掺入无纺织网,该网由具有单根合成纤维、长丝、细丝或纤维长度聚合物纤维(由一种或多种热塑性聚合物组成)的缠绕结构的纤维网组成。还可提供无纺织网作为制品10分层结构内的一薄层,该薄层明显不同于阻挡层20,或者可供选择地,无纺织网可作为薄片12或键合剂14的薄层或分布部件。无纺织网可形成于多种方法,例如熔喷法、纺粘法和粘合粗梳网法。通常,纺粘无纺织网形成于平均直径典型地在约10微米和20微米之间的缠绕长丝的加固结构或薄片,熔喷无纺织网形成于平均直径通常小于10微米的纤维的加固结构或薄片。无纺织网可由多层层压材料组成,特征在于纺粘层和熔喷层的组合。用于形成无纺织网的常见热塑性聚合物包括,但不限于聚烯烃(如聚乙烯、聚丙烯、聚丁烯)、聚酰胺(如尼龙6、尼龙6/6、尼龙10和尼龙12)、聚酯(如聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯和聚对苯二酸丁二醇酯)、聚碳酸酯、聚苯乙烯、热塑性弹性体、含氟聚合物、乙烯基聚合物,以及它们的共混物和共聚物。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20还可包括形成于纤维素纤维的缠绕集合或薄毡的纤维素无纺材料,纤维素纤维如木浆纤维、棉(纤维素)纤维、人造丝(再生纤维素)纤维、乙酸(乙酸纤维素)纤维和三乙酸(三乙酸纤维素)纤维。还可提供纤维素无纺材料作为制品10分层结构内的一薄层,该薄层明显不同于阻挡层20,或者可供选择地,纤维素无纺材料可作为薄片12或键合剂14的薄层或分布部件。无纺材料的特征还在于通过例如水缠结法形成的纤维素纤维与热塑性或合成纤维或长丝的复合共混物。无纺材料还可由热塑性纤维与长丝的一个或多个纤维网及层压在一起的一个或多个纤维素纤维网构成。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20还可掺入形成于金属处理涂层或箔的金属化薄膜,并任选地掺入金属处理涂层或箔层压到其上的单层聚合物薄膜。还可提供金属化薄膜作为制品10分层结构内的一薄层,该薄层明显不同于阻挡层20,或者可供选择地,金属化薄膜可作为薄层置于薄片12或键合剂14内。合适的金属化薄膜包括,但不限于,金属处理聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯聚合物及共聚物、金属处理聚丙烯聚合物及共聚物、金属处理聚酰胺聚合物及共聚物、金属箔,以及这些材料以例如堆积在层压材料内的层的形式的组合。金属化薄膜可通过例如蒸汽相镀金属法或化学气相沉积法使金属(例如铝)或其它金属(例如金、银和铜)沉积在聚合物薄膜的至少一个平表面上而形成。金属化薄膜可作为一薄层引入形成制品10的制作工艺中。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,阻挡层20还可掺入柔韧的纤维素材料。还可提供柔韧的纤维素材料作为制品10分层结构内的一薄层,该薄层明显不同于阻挡层20,或者可供选择地,柔韧的纤维素材料可作为薄片12或键合剂14的一部分。纤维素材料为以纤维素或纤维素衍生物作为其组分的任何材料。合适的纤维素材料包括,但不限于,纸张、涂敷丁酸盐清漆的纸张、棉花、典型木浆、非木质纤维素纤维、乙酸纤维素、三乙酸纤维素、人造丝、热机械木浆、化学木浆、去粘合的化学木浆、马利筋、细菌纤维素,以及它们的组合。纤维还可为交联的、磺酸化的、丝光处理的、热处理的、与热塑性稳定剂纤维混合的、或用湿强度剂处理的。可使用各种纤维的混合物(包括共成型),以及共沉淀热塑性纤维和木纤维的其它混合物。乙酸纤维素是由木浆制成的,该木浆使用乙酸酐处理而形成乙酸纤维素薄片。乙酸纤维素可制造成各种各样的厚度,范围为0.025mm至0.13mm(0.001英寸至0.005英寸),并通常为透明的。乙酸-丁酸纤维素为光学透明漆,其可被涂敷于纸张或加固木浆。
纤维素材料可用任何常规的颜色层或涂层涂敷,该颜色层或涂层包含碳酸钙、二氧化钛、二氧化硅、缎光白、重晶石、云母、氧化锌、塑性颜色或主要由高岭石(水合硅酸铝(Al2Si2O5(OH)4))组成的高岭粘土颜色。颜色涂层作为颜色材料在粘合剂内的含水悬浮液或分散体涂敷到薄片12上,包括但不限于淀粉、蛋白质、苯乙烯丁二烯分散体或点阵、聚乙酸乙烯酯及点阵、丙烯酸点阵。颜色涂层的存在可向纤维素材料贡献附加的阻挡效果、增强纤维素材料的阻挡效果、或者赋予纤维素材料有效的阻挡效果以阻止或延缓外来试剂21向层12的转移。通常,此类颜色涂层的厚度在约20μm至约80μm的范围内。颜色涂层可用包含例如可溶解的金属盐的表面处理改性以增加其阻挡性。
本发明设想除了阻挡层20之外,制品10还可掺入清除剂材料32(图2)和/或中和剂46(图3),如本文所述它们可与阻挡层20共同作用以减弱或防止外来试剂21从表面16向薄片12的转移。清除剂材料32和/或中和剂46可作为明显的层被提供,或者可被包括在分层制品10的一个或多个薄层中,薄层包括薄片12、键合剂14和阻挡层20。置于制品10内的清除剂材料32可选自沸石、中孔沸石、高表面积的碳黑、DGB碳黑、聚阳离子分子、聚乙烯吡咯烷酮聚合物及共聚物、环糊精化合物、活性炭、阳离子碳、阳离子惰性材料、阴离子材料、氧化镁、活性氧化铝、混合金属氧化物、金属氧化物的纳米颗粒、椰子基碳、木基碳、碳纳米管、碳纳米纤维、离子交换树脂、染料转移抑制剂,以及这些材料的组合、共混物或混合物。
参考图1A,制品10还可包括置于薄片12和阻挡层20之间的一个或多个连接层22(如图1A所述),和/或置于键合剂14和阻挡层20之间的一个或多个连接层(未示出但类似于连接层22)。本发明设想一个或多个连接层22可作为或包含阻挡层20。形成每个连接层22的至少一部分的典型材料包括官能化的聚烯烃乙烯丙烯酸酯、乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯、官能化的丙烯酸、聚氯乙烯、聚烯烃、聚乙氧基化物,以及它们的组合、共混物和共聚物。如本文所述,每个连接层22还可包含清除剂材料32(图2)和/或中和剂46(图3),它们与阻挡层20共同作用以减弱或防止外来试剂21从表面16向薄片12的转移。
参考图2,其中与图1相同的参考数字是指相同的特征,并依照本发明的另一个实施方案,将颜色涂敷到表面16上的制品23包括可视觉感知的颜色效果的薄片24、键合剂26和可分离衬料30。薄片24类似于薄片12并可包括外涂层25作为一薄层,键合剂26类似于键合剂14,可分离衬料30与可分离衬料18完全相同。
依照本发明的原则,制品23还包括清除剂材料,其用参考数字32表示,能够吸收或捕获从涂敷制品23的表面16转移出的外来试剂21,使得制品23在表面16上的使用期限内外来试剂21不影响薄片24的性质(例如染色性)。清除剂材料32通过捕获、吸收、吸附或捕捉来清除外来试剂21,在某种意义上有效地阻塞或防止外来试剂21转移(如扩散、迁移或弥散)到薄片24内,这可防止制品23性质的降解。例如,清除剂材料32的作用可消除薄片24内脱色的发生。可供选择地,清除剂材料32可通过捕获或吸收只是减慢或延缓外来试剂21的转移,使得至少在制品23位于表面16上的使用期限内薄片24的性质(例如颜色)不会被可觉察地影响。清除剂材料32以有效浓度和/或位置存在,以减轻、减弱或消除起源于表面16的外来试剂21对薄片24的影响。清除剂材料32可以多种技术涂敷,包括,但不限于,印刷、挤出、共挤出、涂敷、喷雾,以及这些技术的组合。
在本发明的各种具体实施方案中,清除剂材料32选自聚阳离子分子、聚乙烯吡咯烷酮聚合物及共聚物、环糊精化合物、活性炭、阳离子碳、阳离子惰性材料、阴离子材料、氧化镁、活性氧化铝、混合金属氧化物、金属氧化物的纳米颗粒、椰子基碳、木基碳、碳纳米管、碳纳米纤维、离子交换树脂、染料转移抑制剂,以及这些材料的组合、共混物或混合物。清除剂材料32可任选地掺入至少一种另外的清除剂组分,该组分选自沸石、中孔沸石、高表面积的碳黑和/或DGB碳黑。
清除剂材料32图示说明在图2中,其作为可确认的层或薄层限制在或掺入到制品23的分层结构中。在本发明的一个可供选择的实施方案中,清除剂材料32a,特征在于性质与清除剂材料32完全相同,可作为键合剂26的组分掺入。在另一个可供选择的实施方案中,清除剂材料32b,特征也在于性质与清除剂材料32a完全相同,可作为薄片24的组分掺入。清除剂材料32a和32b可作为分别位于键合剂26或薄片24厚度内的层或薄层而被隔离开,或者可均匀分布在相应的键合剂26或薄片24之一的整个厚度内。清除剂材料32、32a和32b可单独使用或以任何排列或组合掺入到制品23中。每个清除剂材料32、32a和32b可组合本文所述的两个或多个候补材料。本文所述清除剂材料32的性质理解为清除剂材料32a和32b的代表。
在本发明的一个实施方案中,并如上所提及,与清除剂材料32一致的可为染料转移抑制剂。染料转移抑制剂可以有效含量存在于薄片24或键合剂26内以在制品23的有效使用期限内防止染料转移到薄片或延缓染料转移到薄片24。通常,染料转移抑制剂存在的含量范围为按所述组合物的重量计约0.01%至按所述组合物的重量计约10%。合适的染料转移抑制剂包括,但不限于,染料聚乙烯吡咯烷酮聚合物、聚胺N-氧化物聚合物、N-乙烯基吡咯烷酮和N-乙烯基咪唑的共聚物、酞菁锰、过氧化物酶,以及它们的组合。示例性的染料转移抑制剂描述于普通转让的美国专利5,633,225,其公开内容据此全文引入本文以供参考。
在本发明的另一个实施方案中,并如上所提及,清除剂材料32可为活性炭,其由于具有高的多孔性水平而能够吸收从涂敷制品23的表面16转移出的外来试剂21。活性炭可以下列形式提供:颗粒形式、纤维形式、纳米管形式、包含粘合剂、溶剂、墨水和活性炭颗粒的墨水形式,以及这些多种形式的混合物。在颗粒、纤维和纳米管形式中,平均粒径可在约3μm至约70μm的范围内,并优选地在约12.5μm或更小的范围内。可通过任何常规的印刷技术将墨水形式作为明显的层涂敷,或者可供选择地可分散在键合剂26内,并通过下列技术涂敷,例如印刷、挤出、共挤出、涂敷、喷雾,以及这些技术的组合。
活性炭的合适颗粒形式商购自多种来源,包括Calgon Carbon Corp.(Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania)、Specialty Chemicals Division ofMeadWestvaco Corp.(Covington,Virginia)和Carbochem Inc.(Ardmore,Pennsylvania)。可用于实施本发明的活性炭的具体颗粒形式包括Calgon CarbonADP椰子基活性炭、RGC木基活性炭(WAC)、RGC WAC+PVAm、Nuchar SN-30(WAC)和得自MeadWestvaco的Nuchar SA-1500(WAC)、以及Carbochem CA-10(WAC)。
在本发明的另一个实施方案中,并如上所提及,清除剂材料32可包括涂敷到薄片27上的涂层,该涂层包含可被取代或衍生的环糊精化合物。通常,环糊精为环状低聚糖,其由至少五个、优选至少六个吡喃葡萄糖单元通过a-1,4键连接而组成。一种此类基于环糊精的阻挡层20为挤出薄膜涂层,其由溶解或分散在热塑性稀释剂中的按重量计约0.1%至按重量计约60%的环糊精化合物组成,热塑性稀释剂组成该组合物的余量。厚度范围为约0.0075mm(0.3密耳)至约0.038mm(1.5密耳)的挤出薄膜涂层作为一薄层包括在制品23的结构内,位置在薄片24和键合剂26之间。还可使用诸如淀粉、改性淀粉、纤维素、改性纤维素和成膜聚合物的惰性载体或成膜剂(例如粘合剂)用环糊精化合物含水的或其它源自溶剂的溶液或分散体将薄片24溶液涂敷而使环糊精化合物被涂敷。当将水或溶剂移除后,剩余的薄膜应包含约0.1克环糊精每平方米至约0.6克环糊精每平方米。掺入此类环糊精化合物的清除剂材料32描述于国际申请号PCT/US99/08017。
在本发明的另一个实施方案中,并如上所提及,清除剂材料32可包含离子交换树脂。离子交换树脂为包含永久连接到聚合物主链上的带电荷的碎片或固定离子的聚合树脂。
参考图2A,其中与图1A和2相同的参考数字是指相同的特征,制品23还可包括一个或多个连接层22和/或置于薄片24和键合剂26之间的阻挡层20。一个或多个连接层22、清除剂材料32和阻挡层20如果确认为离散薄层,则它们可在制品23的厚度内以任何合适的顺序排列。连接层可包含清除剂材料32或部分清除剂材料32,其与分层制品23另一薄层内的另一部分清除剂材料32共同作用,以减弱或防止外来试剂21从表面16向薄片12的转移。阻挡层20可为本文所述的任何候补阻挡层20。可供选择地,如本文所述,制品23的阻挡层20可由聚合物、纤维素材料、无纺材料或金属化薄膜形成。
参考图3,并依照本发明的另一个实施方案,将颜色涂敷到表面16上的制品36包括可视觉感知的颜色效果的薄片38、薄片38的一个表面42上的键合剂40(例如粘合剂)以及可分离衬料44。薄片38类似于薄片12及24并可包括外涂层45作为一明显的薄层,键合剂40类似于键合剂14及26,可分离衬料44与可分离衬料18及30完全相同。
制品36还包括中和剂,用参考数字46表示,其能够破坏从表面16转移出的外来试剂21的化学键。中和剂46以有效阻塞或防止扩散进入薄片38的方式破坏外来试剂21的化学键,从而防止制品36性质的降解(例如,颜色的脱色),例如防止或减轻脱色的发生。可供选择地,中和剂46可减弱或延缓外来试剂21的转移,从而至少在制品36的有效使用期限内薄片38的性质不会被被可觉察地影响。中和剂46以有效浓度和/或位置存在以减弱或消除外来试剂21从表面16向薄片36的转移。
中和剂46图示说明在图3中,其作为可确认的层或薄层限制或掺入到制品36的分层结构中。在本发明一个可供选择的实施方案中,中和剂46a,特征在于性质与中和剂46完全相同,可作为键合剂40的组分掺入。在另一个可供选择的实施方案中,中和剂46b,特征也在于性质与中和剂46a完全相同,可作为薄片38的组分掺入。中和剂46a和46b可作为分别位于键合剂40或薄片38厚度内的层或薄层而被隔离开,或者可均匀分布在相应的键合剂40或薄片38之一的整个厚度内。中和剂46、46a和46b可单独使用或以任何排列或组合掺入到制品36中。每个中和剂46、46a和46b可组合本文所述的两个或多个候补材料。本文所述中和剂46的性质理解为中和剂46a和46b的代表。
在本发明的一个具体实施方案中,中和剂46为漂白化合物,其能够中和与起源于涂敷制品36的表面16的外来试剂21有关的颜色。漂白化合物可为已知用于洗涤、硬质表面清洁、自动盆碟洗涤或假牙清洁目的的任何氧化剂。适用于本发明的漂白化合物包括,但不限于卤素漂白剂,例如次盐漂白剂(如次氯酸盐漂白剂)、氧漂白剂、过氧化物漂白剂、硼氢化钠、过酸,以及它们的混合物。漂白化合物可起作用以破坏外来试剂21的化学键,从而外来试剂不再呈现或显示具有能够使薄片38脱色的可觉察的颜色。
在另一个具体的实施方案中,如果存在中和剂46的话,其为掺入到薄片38或外涂层45的荧光增白剂。如本领域普通技术人员所知,荧光增白剂为通常用于使白色纺织品看起来更亮的无色荧光染料。荧光增白剂可通过当暴露于波长范围为约300nm至约430nm的紫外光时可发出波长范围为约400nm至约500nm的可见光而有效地起作用,例如当制品36涂敷到表面16上时包含在照亮制品36的人造光或自然光内的紫外光。荧光增白剂通过竞争薄片38内的活化点而干扰染料或颜色如外来试剂21。荧光增白剂可起作用以在视觉上掩盖外来试剂21所呈现的颜色。荧光增白剂由于构造基元构成的发色团而分子上结构化,构造基元选自次亚乙烯基、亚氨基、2-吡唑-1,3-二基、1,4-亚苯基、2,5-呋喃二基、2,5-噻吩二基、苯基、呋喃-2-基、吡唑-4-基、吡唑-1-基、1,2,3-三唑-2-基、1,2,4-三唑-1-基、1,3,5-三嗪-2-基、1,2,4-噁二唑-5-基、1,4-亚萘基、苯并呋喃-2-基、苯并噁唑-2-基、苯并咪唑-2-基、4,7-香豆素二基、石脑油[1,2-d]三唑-2-基、萘二甲酰亚氨基、芘-1-基,以及连在一起的它们的组合。合适的荧光增白剂列于Ullmann’s Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry,第18A卷,第153至176页,其公开内容据此全文引入本文以供参考。
在本发明的另一个具体实施方案中,中和剂46为添加到薄片38或键合剂40的pH调节剂,其可使从涂敷制品36的表面16转移出的外来试剂21脱色。pH调节剂破坏外来试剂21的化学键,从而外来试剂21不能显示具有或换句话讲不能呈现可视觉感知的颜色,或至少外来试剂21呈现固有的可视觉感知颜色的能力显著下降。pH调节剂可为任何酸性或碱性物质,如果该物质加到薄片38其能与组成薄片38的材料化学相容,和/或如果该物质加到键合剂40其能与表现键合剂40特征的材料化学相容。
参考图3A,其中与图1A和3相同的参考数字是指相同的特征,制品36还可包括一个或多个连接层22和/或置于薄片38与键合剂40之间的阻挡层20。阻挡层20和/或连接层22还可任选地包含清除剂材料32(图2),如本文所述,清除剂材料与中和剂46联合作用。任选的清除剂材料32还可作为制品36的分层结构内的一明显薄层被提供,或者可供选择地,作为薄片38或键合剂40的一部分被提供。可供选择地,清除剂材料32可作为制品23的分层结构内的一明显薄层被包括,和/或作为制品23的薄片24和/或键合剂26内的组分或薄层被包括。制品36的阻挡层20可为本文所述的任何阻挡层20,或者可供选择地,可形成于选自聚合物、纤维素材料、无纺材料或金属化薄膜的材料。制品36内的清除剂材料32可选自沸石、中孔沸石、高表面积的碳黑、DGB碳黑、聚阳离子分子、聚乙烯吡咯烷酮聚合物及共聚物、环糊精化合物、活性炭、阳离子碳、阳离子惰性材料、阴离子材料、氧化镁、活性氧化铝、混合金属氧化物、金属氧化物的纳米颗粒、椰子基碳、木基碳、碳纳米管、碳纳米纤维、离子交换树脂、染料转移抑制剂,以及这些材料的组合、共混物或混合物。
本发明设想制品36可包括任何可能的排列或组合的阻挡层20(图1)、清除剂材料32(图2)和中和剂46(图3)。因此,阻挡层20、清除剂材料32和/或中和剂46可产生单独的贡献,该贡献共同作用以减弱或防止外来试剂21从表面16向薄片38的转移。在本发明的某些实施方案中,隔离开的单独贡献可能不足以达到所需的防止或减弱外来试剂21的转移,但单独贡献的共同作用则会产生所需效果。本发明还设想可提供联合的多于一种类型的阻挡层20、多于一种类型的清除剂材料32和/或多于一种类型的中和剂46,以提供有目标地所需的防止或减弱外来试剂21的转移。
阻挡层20(图1)、清除剂材料32(图2)或中和剂46(图3)可均匀地或一致地分布于相应制品10、23或36的平面上。可供选择地,阻挡层20、清除剂材料32或中和剂46可以不均匀的图案分布,使得阻挡层20、清除剂材料32或中和剂46的含量或密度在制品的水平面上具有空间依赖性。例如,阻挡层20、清除剂材料32或中和剂46可在某些制品区域不存在,可沿着制品的水平面具有浓度或厚度梯度,可在制品水平面的不同位置以不同的浓度或厚度存在(即,在制品的周边边缘附近具有较高的浓度或厚度),等等。图案内的浓度或厚度可系统地或随机地调整,且制品水平面内的所有区域可具有非零浓度或厚度的阻挡层20、清除剂材料32或中和剂46。
按照以下步骤测量颜色改变/稳定性。提供一个每侧均为7.62cm的正方形样本。将样本粘合性地安放到刚性垫板上,仔细排除空气泡和皱纹。从样本移除其任何上面的载体层或可分离衬料,暴露颜色层。
刚性垫板如下制备。提供由石膏板制成的板。该板涂有市售底漆,按原样以Behr Premium Plus PVA Drywall Primer & Sealer No.73白胶乳购自BehrCorporation。干燥时用具有49.3克/升颜色的油漆涂该板。合适的油漆以Behr,Premium Plus Interior Semi-Gloss Enamel Pastel Base no.3500商购自Behr。用具有约6.35mm间隙的合成小羊皮辊实现涂油漆。将该板置于水平表面上,并涂底漆/涂油漆直到表面具有均匀平坦的底漆/油漆涂层。在50%RH和20摄氏度下使涂层间存在24小时。依照ASTM Test Methods E1164测量充足颜色和E308将颜色量度转化为L.a.b.标度进行样本的基线L*A*B色度计测量。己发现具有脉冲氙弧灯的Minolta CM508d色度计适合使用以下设置:2°/C、SCE、8mm样本区域。进行基线测量后,将样本置于60摄氏度的测试烘箱中。样本每小时移除一次并如上所述再次测试L*A*B*。每小时进行一次测试,直到记录的B*(称为ΔB*)改变在连续的测量之间小于10%。
依照ASTM标准D2805测量,如本发明所述的制品10可具有的不透明度为至少99,优选至少99.3,更优选至少99.5。此外,用底脚直径为5mm的压榨机在8.74克的限定负荷下测量,此类制品可具有的厚度小于0.084mm,优选小于0.076mm,更优选小于0.064mm,更优选小于0.05mm,更优选小于0.04mm。如此制造的制品10将具有的不透明度与厚度的比率为每毫米至少40,优选至少50,更优选至少55。
实施例1
制备10克汉撒黄(单偶氮)颜色和2-丙醇(IPA)的溶液。使用分光光度计找到10ppm溶液的吸收曲线内的峰。在约404nm波长处观察到一主要吸收峰。在404nm处记录所有随后的吸光度读数。测定2ppm、4ppm、6ppm、8ppm和10ppm的溶液在404nm处的吸光度以得到校准曲线。将各种类型的活性炭(直径大约45微米至63微米)添加到10ppm的溶液中,在搅拌盘上不断搅拌该溶液。不加活性炭的溶液用作对照物。30分钟、60分钟和120分钟后,等分试样作为样本被移除。将样本离心去除碳,使用分光光度计测量样本的吸光度。结果示于图4中。
最上面的曲线代表对照物的吸收,下面的四条曲线代表加入各种类型的活性炭后的吸收。从图4可明显看出,由于溶液中活性炭的存在,表现汉撒黄颜色特征的404nm峰的吸光度显著减少。具体地讲,由于活性炭的作用,吸光度被减少五倍并差不多超过一个数量级。按吸光度减少最少至吸光度减少最多的顺序,溶液中具体的活性炭分别为MeadWestvaco SA-1500木基活性炭、木基活性炭、椰子基活性炭、和MeadWestvaco RGC木基活性炭。
活性炭由于具有高的多孔性水平而可有效地吸收汉撒黄(单偶氮)颜色。尽管未在图4中示出,已观察到增加添加到溶液中的活性炭的含量可增加汉撒黄颜色从溶液中去除的含量。因而断定如果外来试剂置于颜色薄片和涂敷制品的表面之间,其将作为清除剂材料起作用而有效地中断外来试剂的迁移。结果,由于在外来试剂进入颜色薄片之前活性炭将捕获迁移的外来试剂,所以颜色薄片将不会脱色。制备另外三十六个样本并依照上述步骤进行测试。结果示于下表1。

Claims (5)

1.一种用来将可视觉感知的颜色效果传送到包含外来试剂的表面的制品,所述制品包括:
可视觉感知的颜色效果的薄片;
由所述薄片负载的键合剂,所述键合剂能够将所述薄片粘合到所述表面上;
可移除地连接到所述薄片上的可分离衬料;和
可有效地减弱所述外来试剂从所述表面向所述薄片的转移的阻挡层,其中所述阻挡层选自镀玻璃的聚合物、镀陶瓷的聚合物、包含硅酸钠的组合物、阴离子层和阳离子层中的至少一个、纳米复合物,以及它们的组合。
2.如权利要求1所述的制品,其中所述键合剂和所述薄片之一包括所述阻挡层。
3.如权利要求1所述的制品,其中所述阻挡层设置在所述薄片和所述键合剂之间。
4.如权利要求1所述的制品,所述制品还包括:
聚合物层、纤维素层、无纺材料和金属处理薄膜中的至少一个,其与所述阻挡层共同作用以减弱所述外来试剂从所述表面向所述薄片的转移。
