技术领域

背景技术
现代移动终端或者移动台提供了许多有价值的特征功能,例如网络相关的功能。上述网络相关的功能能够包括呼叫转移、呼叫等待、以及各种漫游相关的功能,例如“免打扰”。正如可以理解的是,不是所有的蜂窝系统运营者可以支持上述范围的特征功能。也可以理解的是,不是所有的用户希望利用(以及付额外的费用)上述一般的增值特征功能。 
为了简化移动台的制作,对移动单元进行网络相关功能及其它全部功能的补充编程是很方便的。然而,只有某些上述功能最初能够激活使用。例如,假定移动台包括一个用于显示可用功能的菜单显示器,那么只有那些激活的功能将出现在菜单内。所有其它未激活的功能不显示在菜单内,因此,对用户是“隐藏的”。 
已知或建议的技术是当最初购买移动终端时,销售商连接移动台的数据端口至编程装置,例如计算机,以及结合或不结合移动终端内部的微处理器装置通过数据端口来激活用户所选择的功能。采用预定的“特征功能码”来定义具体的功能。用户也能够随后在购买移动终端后返回到销售商来激活某种功能或某些功能。然而,上述手续对用户是不方便的。

发明内容
因此,本发明的第一个目的是提供一种有效和简单的技术来使得一个移动终端的用户能够请求及接收一个网络业务。 
本发明的第二个目的是提供一个具有SMS能力的移动终端,并且进一步地提供一种SMS用户接口,该接口使得用户能够产生一个请求运营者的SMS消息来激活一个所选择的移动终端功能,移动终端进一步地能够接收来自激活所选择移动终端功能运营者的一个点对点的SMS消息。 
根据本发明的实施方案的方法与装置,克服了前述的及其它问题,并且实现了本发明的目的。公布了一种本发明的方法,该方法用于使一个某类用户终端工作,例如蜂窝无线电话,该类用户终端通过一个RF接口双向地连接至网络。蜂窝无线电话包括给用户一个含有多个键的键盘和一个用于显示信息的显示装置,上述显示信息包括消息。该方法包括的步骤如下:(a)从一个运营者的站点通过一个网络(32)发送一个点对点的短消息业务(SMS)消息给无线电话;(b)从网络接收该SMS消息;(c)翻译接收到的SMS消息;以及(d)激活收到SMS消息所规定的网络业务功能。该方法包括从无线电话发送一个SMS消息给运营者站点的准备步骤,SMS消息请求网络功能的激活。

具体实施方式
参照图1和2来说明移动终端10,具体地说是一个蜂窝无线电话,它适合于来实现本发明。移动终端10包括一个天线12,该天线12用于发送信号给基站站点或基站30以及接收来自基站站点或基站30的信号。基站30是蜂窝网络32的一部分,该蜂窝网络32包括一个移动交换中心(MSC)34。当用户终端向网络登记时,MSC 34能够寻找消息至用户终端10的路由或者寻找来自用户终端10消息的路由。 
移动终端分别包括一个调制器(MOD)14A、一个发射机14、一个接收机16、一个解调器(DEMOD)16A、以及一个提供信号至发射机14及接收机16以及接收来自发射机14及接收机16信号的控制器18。上述信号包括符合适用于蜂窝系统空中接口标准的信令信息以及用户语音与/或用户产生的数据。假定本发明的空中接口标准包括一种SMS能力,具体地说来包括点对点的SMS能力。也就是SMS消息能够寻址至具体的移动终端,即使移动终端能够接收和响应广播(例如全局)消息,该消息寻址多个移动终端。

移动终端10同样包括各种存储器,它们一起称作存储器24,其中存储了移动终端工作期间控制器18所使用的多个常数和变量。例如,存储器24存储了各种蜂窝系统的参数和编号分配模块(NAM)。用于控 制控制器18工作的工作程序同样存储于存储器24内(一般在ROM装置内)。存储器24也存储了数据,该数据包括用户消息,它们是在显示消息给用户之前从蜂窝网络32接收到的。移动终端也包括一个用于给所要求的使终端工作的各种电路供电的电池26。

现在参照图3A、3B和4来说明根据本发明的第一个方法。该方法将以一个目前临时蜂窝数字标准(即IS-136)的内容来进行描述,上述目前临时蜂窝数字标准提供了短消息业务(SMS)能力,进而,本发明的教导不只限制用于上述具体的暂行标准。 
IS-136规范在段落7.1-7.3(IS-136.1,Rev.0,5/17/94,pp.386-307)中规定了SMS消息的结构与信息单元。有一个消息单元在段落7.2.1中称作“用户数据单元”,规定上述单元来传送用户文本消息。该消息单元的一个字段称作一个“编码标识”。正如第304页所所说明的,规定用户数据单元的编码标识字段为五个字节长度(即是32个可能的值)。目前,规范只规定了两个数值的功能。所有其它的值保留给以后使用。 
应该注意到的是同样属于本发明所使用的范围内,另一个实施方案中,R-数据单元结构中的高层协议标识是用于此目的。例如,可参见IS-136的段落6.5,“信息单元描述-R-数据单元”。 
根据本发明的一个优选而不是为了限制的实施方案,编码标识字段用来识别SMS消息以便作为包含意在用于软件升级目的的特殊信息。SMS消息包含两个逻辑部分。第一部分是文本部分,它通过收到的消息来通知用户,新菜单的特征功能将出现于移动终端的显示器20上。第二部分(对用户是不可见的)转移所需要的信息单元给移动台10。基于上述信息,移动台10激活菜单的特征功能。能够发送上述两部分作为两个独立的SMS消息或者作为一个SMS消息。

Claims (20)

1.一种通过无线接口双向耦合型的移动终端装置,包括:
用于接收短消息业务消息的装置,所述短消息业务消息具有一个用于指定该短消息业务消息是一个特殊消息的字段集,其中使用该特殊消息能够有选择地激活或去激活功能;
用于检查所述短消息业务消息是一个特殊消息的装置;
用于在移动终端的存储器中储存数据的装置;以及
用于使用该特殊消息有选择地激活或去激活功能的装置。
2.权利要求1的移动终端装置,还包括:
用于在所述移动终端处接收到由操作者站点发射的短消息业务消息的装置;
用于对被包括在由该操作者站点发射的短消息业务消息中的信息进行动作的装置,这使得对所述移动终端功能性所选的改变被实施。
3.权利要求2的移动终端装置,还包括:
用于显示当前已经由所选的改变修改的所述移动终端功能的装置。
4.权利要求2的移动终端装置,其中由所述操作者站点发射的所述短消息业务消息包括用于指示该短消息业务消息是软件更新消息的编码标识符字段集。
5.权利要求4的移动终端装置,还包括:
用于检查所述编码标识符字段,并且如果该编码标识符字段对应于特殊的菜单更新短消息业务消息,则更新该移动终端的菜单的装置。
6.权利要求2的移动终端装置,还包括:
用于读取从该操作者站点接收到的该短消息业务消息的用户数据字段并定位网络业务识别码的装置,其中,该网络业务识别码对应于将被启动的所选择的至少一个未启动的移动终端功能。
7.权利要求2的移动终端装置,还包括:
用于读取从该操作者站点接收到的该短消息业务消息的用户数据字段并定位特征功能码的装置。
8.权利要求2的移动终端装置,其中,所选择的对所述移动终端功能性的改变涉及启动至少一个未启动的菜单项,并且还包括:
用于根据网络业务识别码识别出将被启动的所述菜单项,并且启动所选择的至少一个未启动的移动终端功能的装置。
9.权利要求7的移动终端装置,还包括:
用于将所述特征功能码存储在专用于特定的菜单项的非易失性存储位置中的装置。
10.权利要求1的移动终端装置,还包括:
多个用于执行业务特征功能的装置,所述多个用于执行业务特征功能的装置中的单个装置在启动使用时执行多个预定的通信网络业务特征功能之一;以及
用于把所述短消息业务消息标识为通信网络业务特征功能更新短消息业务消息的装置;和
用于实施由所述消息指定的软件实现的装置的改变的装置。
11.权利要求10的移动终端装置,其中该改变涉及修改所启动的通信网络业务特征功能的所显示的列表,以包括由所述消息传送的数据规定的通信网络业务特征功能。
12.权利要求10的移动终端装置,还包括用于响应用户输入的信息撰写和发射消息给所述通信网络的装置,所发射的消息标识出将被修改的通信网络业务特征功能。
13.如权利要求11的移动终端装置,还包括一个装置,用于接收来自所述通信网络的又一消息作出响应,以便把信息存储到所述存储器中,从而禁用由所述又一消息传送的数据规定的所述多个用于执行业务特征功能的装置中的所启动的软件实现的装置。
14.权利要求10的移动终端装置,其中,对所述多个用于执行业务特征功能的装置之一进行改变就实现了对无线电话的所述功能性的改变。
15.如权利要求11的移动终端装置,其中,所述多个预定的通信网络业务特征功能包括呼叫前转、呼叫递交、呼叫转移、呼叫等待、主叫号码识别限制、会议电话、灵活的提醒、消息等待通知、可选择的语言、用户PIN接入和话音消息恢复中的至少一种。
16.一种操作者站点装置,包括:
用于在该操作者站点处接收到从移动终端发射的短消息业务消息的装置;
用于将所接收到的短消息业务消息验证为改变所述移动终端功能性的请求的装置;
用于在该操作者站点处撰写短消息业务消息的装置,该短消息业务消息包括对该移动终端功能性实施改变的信息;以及
用于将该短消息业务消息发射到该移动终端的装置。
17.如权利要求16的操作者站点装置,还包括:
用于记录移动台和与每个移动台相关的已经激活的特征功能的的装置。
18.如权利要求17的操作者站点装置,还包括:
用于如果验证了所接收的短消息业务消息则更新所述用于记录的装置的装置。
19.如权利要求16的操作者站点装置,其中发射的所述短消息业务消息包括用于指示该短消息业务消息是软件更新消息的编码标识符字段集。
20.如权利要求16的操作者站点装置,其中发射的所述短消息业务消息包含用户数据字段并定位网络业务识别码,其中,该网络业务识别码对应于将被启动的所选择的至少一个未启动的移动终端功能。
