Abstract
用户设备装置,是用以由一无线局域网络(WLAN)提供一个用户设备(UE)的自动跨区转换过程至一通用移动电信系统(UMTS)或是由UMTS提供至WLAN。跨区转换过程可由该UE激活,是根据用户的偏好,信号品质,该UE与该被交换的系统的坐标位置的比较,或是信号品质的比较。一系统可用的频道可借由其它系统而被广播至该UE或是该UE可监控被交换的系统的频道并锁至其一。该跨区转换亦可借UMTS激活,此选取是以功率为基础。
Description
技术领域
本发明是关于无线局域网络(wireless local area network,WLAN)与通用移动电信系统(universal mobile telecommunication system,UMTS)的系统。更特别地说,本发明是关于在WLAN与UMTS间自动跨区转换的装置与技术。
背景技术
在一WLAN与一UMTS间的跨区转换过程的触发可借一个由用户所启始的手动跨区转换过程来达成,其中该用户知道该WLAN在目前地理位置中所覆盖的范围,并且开启该WLAN连接。
然而,提供一个自动跨区转换过程是非常令人期待的。
实用新型内容
本发明的特征在于提供自动跨区转换装置,其可以是用户设备(user equipment,UE)-激活(UE-initiated)或是系统-激活(system-initiated)。
就UE-激活装置方面而言,该UE侦测到一个WLAN覆盖区的存在并以一用户的偏好为依据而激活了跨区转换(handoff,HO)过程。二择一地,该UE可追踪WLAN聚集区域的位置,并且在始自该WLAN的一特定范围内激活该HO过程。
系统-激活装置的表现如下:
透过该系统而由UE所要求的功率量测包含所有WLAN频率的组合。该系统根据一套标准而激活HO程序,该标准包含该UE的移动性以及所想要的应用,此时该UE位于WLAN覆盖区域中。
如另一个实施例所述,该系统跟踪该UE位置并根据一套标准激活该HO程序,该标准包括该UE的移动性以及所要求的应用,此时该UE位于该WLAN的覆盖区域中。

具体实施方式
一个由UMTS 12至WLAN 14的UE-激活跨区转换被呈现于图1的流程图中,其中在步骤S1,该UMTS系统广播在胞元中可用的WLANs的列表,其中UE 10被设定。在步骤S2,该UE 10接收并储存在胞元中可用的所有WLANs的列表。在步骤S3,该UE 10请求在胞元中可用的WLANs的位置,该请求是以用户的偏好为基础。在步骤S4,该UE 10,当其正在移动时,比较其目前坐标与那些用以储存WLANs的坐标。在步骤S5,一个关于该UE 10位置以及WLAN 14的位置是否位于预设范围之内的确认工作被执行。如果不是,此程序在步骤S5A中跳接回步骤S4。在该UE 10与WLAN 14的位置位于预设范围内的情形下,接着,此程序便在步骤S5B中跳接至步骤S6,于是该跨区转换(HO)程序便被激活了。
图2呈现了一个较详尽UE-激活跨区转换技术,其以位置为基础,其中的程序步骤发生于UE 10,UMTS12以及WLAN 14之间。
在步骤S1,UE 10听从于广播控制频道(broadcast control channel,BCCH)。在步骤S2,UMTS 12广播了一个可用的WLANs的窗体。在步骤S3,该UE 10以用户预设的偏爱而接收并储存该WLAN窗体,该UE 10亦激活了取得该等较佳WLANs之所在位置的程序,在步骤S4中,UE 10请求UMTS 12提供该等较佳WLANs的所在位置。在步骤S5中,该UMTS 12接收位置信息,并且在步骤S6中,该UMTS 12将WLANs的窗体与相关的位置提供至UE 10。
在步骤S7中,UE 10监控该位置信息并激活一跨区转换(HO),在步骤S8,当UE 10位于WLAN覆盖区域的范围内时,UE 10激活WLAN服务至WLAN14。
该WLAN14在步骤S9透过与UMTS12的信息交换并在步骤S10以该交互影响的个案为依据而认证该UE 10,在步骤S11,该WLAN14准许存取UE 10并可依据此交互影响的个案而分配一个新的因特网通信协议(internet protocoli,IP)地址。
在步骤S12,UE 10透过UTMS 12来激活该跨区转换至WLAN,在步骤S13,资料通过介于UTMS12与WLAN14之间的一个通信链路来发送。
在步骤S14,UMTS提供一该跨区转换过程已完成的信息至UE10,,而且在步骤S15,服务便重新回至位于UE10与WLAN14间的WLAM系统14之上。
图3示出了另一个由UMTS12至WLAN14的UE激活跨区转换技术,UE 10’具有与位于10a’之UMTS12以及位于10b’之WLAN 14的通信能力。
在步骤S1,UE 10’听从于广播控制频道(BCCH)。在步骤S2,UMTS 12在该频道中广播了可用的WLANs列表。
在步骤S3,该UE 10’接收并储存该WLANs列表。该UE 10’在步骤S4激活了无线电单元10b’并在步骤S5将该WLAN频率表传送至10b’。该WLAN接收器10b’在步骤S6中监控该WLAN频道,在步骤S7中锁定了一WLAN频道,而在步骤S8中则借由WLAN14激活了WLAN服务。
在步骤S9与步骤S10,该WLAN14透过一个与UMTS12之间的信息交换来认证该UE 10’。在步骤S11,该WLAN14准许存取WLAN服务并可依据交互影响的个案而提供一个新的因特网通信协议地址。介于10b’与10a’间的跨区转换于步骤S12被激活,而10a’在步骤S13中能过UTMS12激活该跨区转换至WLAN14,其中该UMTS12在步骤S14中发送资料至WLAN14。
在步骤S15,UMTS12警告单元10a’该跨区转换过程已完成,在步骤16,10a’警告单元10b’HO程序已完成,在步骤17,服务便重新回到介于UE10’与WLAN14之间的WLAN系统上。
图4呈现一个由UMTS12至WLAN14的UE-激活跨区转换技术,其中呈现于图4中的UE 10’在结构上是与图3中的UE 10’相似。在此实施例当中,该跨区转换是以功率为依据且并不发生广播。
在步骤S1,分封交换(packet switched,PS)自单元10a’被附加,而在步骤S2,位于10b’的功率即被开启。在步骤S3,单元10a’激活10b’的无线电单元,于是,该单元10b’在步骤S4中具有它的接受器监控WLAN频道,在步骤S5中锁定至WLAN频道,而在步骤S6则借WLAN14来激活WLAN服务。
该WLAN14在步骤S7之中认证UE 10’,并在与步骤S8中借由UMTS12来完成一认证程序。而且在步骤S9之中,该WLAN14准许存取WLAN服务并可依据此交互影响的个案而配置一个新的因特网通信协议地址。
单元10b’在步骤S10能过单元10a’来激活该跨区转换(HO),在步骤S11透过UTMS12而开始把该跨区转换送至WLAN14,其中该跨区转换是在步骤S12中被传送于UTMS12与WLAN14之间,在步骤S13,UMTS12通知单元10a’该跨区转换已完成,在步骤S14,单元10a’通知单元10b’该跨区转换已完成,于是在步骤S15,WLAN系统上的服务便重新回到UE 10’与WLAN14之间。
图5示出另一个UE-激活跨区转换技术,使用了WLAN广播。UE10’与图3与图4中的UE 10’相似。
该UE在步骤S1听从于广播,可用的UMTSs窗体的广播是在步骤S2中由WLAN14所提供。UE 10’在步骤S3通过单元10b’接收与储存UMTS频率窗体,并在步骤S4,基于信号品质,UE 10’借由用户激活的方式来起动跨区转换(HO),当该跨区转换被激活,用户便选取一预设偏好。当信号品质被视作为是一种标准时,信号品质的量测即被执行,而且该跨区转换仅在该信号品质达到预设的门槛时才会被激活。
在步骤S5,根据该跨区转换的激活,10b’促使无线电的初始化于单元10a’。在步骤S6,单元10a’激活了UMTS服务的初始化,其包含附加的分封交换(PS),封包资料协议(packet data protocol,PDP)以及类似的东西。在步骤S7,UMTS12完成通知单元10a’的初始化,该初始化是成功的。在步骤S8,UE 10’透过单元10b’激活该跨区转换至UMTS(服务连续性)。在步骤S9,资料的发送出现在ELAN14与UMTS12之间,因此WLAN14在步骤S10通知单元10b’该跨区转换已完成(而且其为成功的)。在步骤S11,单元10b’通知10a’该跨区转换已完成并且在步骤S12中关闭了WLAN接收器,于是在步骤S13中,服务便重新回到介于UMTS12与单元10a’之间的WLAN系统上。
图6呈现了一个由WLAN14到UMTS12的UE-激活跨区转换。在此实施例中,UE 10’在步骤1是为了因应信号品质,而由用户操控或是自动地通过该单元10b’来激活一交换,此程序和图5的实施例中的步骤S4所述及者在本质上是相同。
在步骤S2,单元10’造成无线电初始化于10a’,其在步骤S3,锁至UMTS系统12并且完成UMTS服务与初始化,该步骤与图5的实施例中的步骤S6在本质上相同。因此,在本质上与个别列于图5的步骤S7至步骤S13相同的图6的步骤S5至步骤S11能得以实现,图5与图6的实施例的差异在于图6的实施例中并没有WLAN广播。
图7示出一个由UMTS12至WLAN14的UMTS系统激活跨区转换,该跨区转换技术乃是以功率为根据。
UE 10’在步骤S1,透过单元10a’而听从一广播控制频道(BCCH),在步骤S2UMTS 12广播一可用的WLANs的窗体。UE 10’在步骤S3透过单元10a’来接收与储存WLAN的频率表,在步骤S4则激活10b’的无线电单元,并在步骤5中将该频率表提供至单元10b’。该WLAN接受器,位于单元10b’,在步骤S6中监控该WLAN频道,并在步骤S7提供一量测报告至单元10a’,该报告在步骤S8由单元10a’而被传达至UMTS12。
在步骤S9,UMTS12对准一特定的WLAN并激活该跨区转换过程,并在步骤S10将该跨区转换过程的标的WLAN系统提供给单元10a’。
在步骤S11,UE 10’通过单元10a’而通知标的WLAN系统的单元10b’,而且在步骤S12,单元10b’的WLAN接收器锁定至该标的WLAN系统的WLAN频道,而在步骤S13则与WLAN14通信以便激活WLAN服务。
WLAN14在步骤S14通过与UTMS12通信而认证UE10’,而在步骤S15则透过与单元10b’通信而准予存取,其在步骤S16通知单元10a’该跨区转换已完成。单元10a’在步骤S17通知UMTS12传至WLAN14的跨区转换已完成,于是UMTS12在步骤S18发送资料至WLAN14。在步骤S19,UMTS12告知单元10b’该过程已完成,因此,在步骤S21,位于UE 10’与WLAN14间的WLAN系统之上的服务随即发生。
Claims (3)
1.一用户设备(UE)激活系统,用以将该UE的自动跨区转换由一第一系统传至一第二系统,该第一系统为通用移动电信系统(UMTS)与通用无线局域网络(WLAN)之其一,而该第二系统则为该通用移动电信系统(UMTS)与该通用无线局域网络(WLAN)的另一,其中该第一系统储存了可用的该第二系统的窗体,包含:
该UE包含:
接受与储存的装置,用以接收与储存在一胞元中有效的可用系统窗体,该UE座落于该胞元中;
请求装置,用以请求一较佳跨区转换;
请求位置装置,用以因应该请求装置而请求在该胞元中可用的该等第二系统的位置;
提供坐标装置,用以确认该UE的一位置;
比较坐标装置,用以比较该UE的坐标与由该第一系统所接收到的该第二系统的坐标;以及
启动装置,用以在该比较操作指出该第二系统位于一预定的限度内的时候激活一跨区转换程序。
2.UE激活跨区转换系统,用以将该UE由一第一系统跨区转换至一第二系统,其中该第一系统为一通用移动电信系统(UMTS)与一通用无线局域网络(WLAN)之其一而该第二系统则为该通用移动电信系统(UMTS)与该通用无线局域网络(WLAN)另一,其中该第一系统储存了一个有用的第二系统的窗体,包含:
用以接受与储存该窗体的装置;
用以监控该第二系统的频道并锁至一频道上以便借由位在该频道上的一第二系统来激活服务的装置;
该第二系统包含:
用以认证该UE并准许存取的装置;
该UE还包含:
用以透过与该第一系统通信而启动该跨区转换至该第二系统的装置;
该第一系统包含:
用以透过该第二系统而自该UE发送通信并在该跨区转换过程完成时告知该UE的装置;以及
该UE具有用以因应由该第一系统所接收到的信息,即该跨区转换过程已完成的信息,而由该第二系统来承担服务的装置。
3.一用户设备(UE)激活系统,用以将该UE的自动跨区转换由一第一系统传至一第二系统,该第一系统为通用移动电信系统(UMTS)与通用无线局域网络(WLAN)之其一,而该第二系统则为该通用移动电信系统(UMTS)与该通用无线局域网络(WLAN)的另一,包含:
该第一系统包含:
用以储存可用之该第二系统的窗体;
该UE包含:
用以与该第一与第二系统通信的装置;
用以在该UE与该第一系统进行通信之时,接收并储存该等可用的系统的表单的装置;
用以请求在胞元之中可用的第二系统位置的装置,其中该胞元是以该UE用户的偏好为基础;以及
用以监控该位置信息的装置;以及
当位于一第二系统涵盖区域的范围之内时,用以激活一跨区转换过程的装置。
