Gemäß dem Stand der Technik werden die im Bereich der Mittelkonsole angeordneten Komponenten bei der Endmontage eines Kraftfahrzeugs von einem Montagepersonal innerhalb der Fahrzeugkarosserie montiert. Da aber im Bereich der Mittelkonsole sehr viele Komponenten zu montieren sind und der dem Montagepersonal in der Fahrzeugkarosserie zur Verfügung stehende Bewegungsspielraum teilweise sehr eingeschränkt ist, erfordert die Montage relativ viel Zeit. Die Aufgabe wird gelöst durch einen Basisträger zur Aufnahme von im Bereich einer Mittelkonsole anzuordnenden Komponenten, wobei sämtliche Komponenten außerhalb einer Fahrzeugkarosserie auf dem Basisträger vormontierbar sind und nach der Vormontage zusammen mit dem Basisträger in die Fahrzeugkarosserie zur Endmontage einbringbar sind. Auf diese Weise kann die Montage der Komponenten auf dem Basisträger zeitlich parallel zur Endmontage geschehen, wodurch Zeit gespart wird. Da die Komponenten außerhalb der Fahrzeugkarosserie montiert werden, hat ein Montagepersonal bei der Montage deutlich mehr Bewegungsspielraum und kann somit die Komponenten in einer deutlich kürzeren Zeit als bisher auf den Basisträger montieren. Dadurch wird zusätzliche Zeit gewonnen. Der fertig vormontierte Basisträger muss dann nur noch in die Fahrzeugkarosserie eingebracht werden. Die hierfür erforderliche Zeit liegt jedoch nur bei einem Bruchteil der Zeit, die für die Vormontage der Komponenten auf den Basisträger erforderlich ist.
