Abstract
Description
The The present invention relates to picture tube apparatuses for Playback of color images. In particular, the invention relates a method of compensating for the effects of aging of the phosphors on the color purity.
In devices for reproducing color images with trichromatic picture tubes or a plurality of cooperating monochromatic picture tubes a color image generated on a screen by an electron beam grid over the screen is steered. The electron beam is in so-called Electron guns generated, which are arranged inside the picture tube are. When reproducing color images, each of the primary colors is red, Green and Blue a single electron beam provided. The electron beams are in their intensity controllable to reflect different levels of brightness. The Control of the electron gun via control amplifier, which amplify the signals supplied by an imaging circuit. For each of the Basic colors are applied on the screen special phosphors. At the Occurrence of the electron beam on the phosphor materials is at the Point of impact Light emitted in the respective base color. Phosphorus materials for The basic colors are close together and are from the three electron beams are driven at the same time. The mixture The three basic colors with individual brightnesses enable the Play a big one Number of colors.
The Phosphorus materials for the basic colors red, green and blue have different properties, in particular in terms of aging. The aging dependency manifests itself essentially a reduced radiation with increasing age of the phosphors of light upon impact of an electron beam when the beam current is constant is held. The aging of the phosphors is at substantially constant temperature and acceleration voltage of the electron beam strongly dependent on the total amount of electrons of the electron beam, which over the Time hits on the phosphors.
Around To achieve a stable color rendering are various methods known. The methods are generally also called white balance designated. A well-known method for white balance provides, in the vertical blanking interval one Image signal to apply test pulses to the electron gun, which generate the electron beam. The current, due to the test pulses in the picture tube flows, is measured and compared with a stored setpoint. at a deviation from the setpoint is the offset voltage or the reinforcement of the drive amplifier the electron gun corrected. By means of this method, which also as a cut-off & drive Loop is known, a stable white balance is possible if the cause of a color shift in temperature dependence of the amplifier is justified. With the aging of the phosphor, this regulation can not be effective, because no light is measured, but only the current flowing in the tube. If the phosphors of the primary colors do not have the same aging curve have, results from over the time a color shift of the picture.

It is therefore desirable to provide a method by which the aging of the phosphorus over the Time can be compensated with simple means.
One such method is given in claim 1. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are specified in the subclaims.
Die Helligkeit der drei Farben bezogen auf einen Referenzstrom lässt sich dadurch unabhängig von der Betriebsdauer mit sehr geringem Aufwand zueinander konstant halten und die Farbverschiebung lässt sicht somit reduzieren bzw. eliminieren.at the method according to the invention the entire operating time of the picture tube is detected, and accordingly the accumulated operating time made a correction of the beam currents. Here, the knowledge is exploited that the color distribution the picture content especially when playing TV or Film images statistically distributed relatively evenly. Farther the fact is exploited that the beam current at usual Use is within a limited range. This is also true the total amount of electrons within the range which can be estimated per time unit impinge on the respective phosphors, and thus an estimate the aging of phosphorous possible. By means of measurements reference tubes is a characteristic map with reference characteristic curves of the typical curve the aging of phosphorous over the time and at different beam currents derivable. The map is in the drive unit of the picture tube or an associated control unit saved. It is also possible to use a mathematical algorithm to determine which is stored instead of the reference characteristic field. In this case it is possible calculate the correction value at any time in the control unit. The memory size can be reduced. According to the invention will now recorded the total accumulated operating time of the picture tube. The brightness loss one of the colors opposite leaves the other one by increasing accordingly the average beam current of the respective color in dependence compensate for the operating time. This is based on the map or the reference characteristic and the accumulated operating time Correction value determined according to which the reinforcement the drive amplifier the electron gun is adjusted. The brightness of the three colors Based on a reference current can be independent of the operating time with very little effort to each other constant hold and the color shift can thus reduce sight or eliminate.
In the simplest version of the procedure is just the accumulated Operating time recorded and used for correction. Elaborate measurements the individual jet streams can This eliminates and requires the implementation of the process only the evaluation of a time signal and a stored Curve.
In a further development of the invention, it is provided that of the Viewer adjustable manipulated variables for color saturation, Brightness and / or contrast should be included in the calculation and thereby improve the accuracy of the compensation.
In Another embodiment of the invention, the measurement results the cut-off & drive loop included in the calculation. As already described above serves the Cut-Off & Drive Loop for compensation of temperature dependencies in the drive amplifiers of the Electron guns. The measurement results deliver practically to everyone Time information about the height of the jet stream.
Die interne Uhr kann dabei auch als Programmroutine ausgeführt sein.to Recording the operating time are additional timer modules or implemented in an already existing control unit internal clock usable. The internal clock can also be used as a program routine accomplished be.
In a further embodiment of the invention are used to measure the Operating time Time information from Teletext, EPG (Electronic Program Guide-Electronic Program Guide) or others with one TV program associated services derived.
