Diese Erfindung bezieht aloh auf Acrylamide und ihre Polymeren,
elnschlieselioh sowohl auf Homopolymere als auch auf Nisohpolyaere.
Acrylamide können unter Bildung von Polymeren polymerisiert werden, welche bei der Herstellung von Kunststoffen, Harsen,

si begünstigen wie Polymerisation des Aorylnitrils,
oder Polymerisation des Acrylamidproduktea» Die bevorzugte
Temperatur für die Reaktion liegt innerhalb des Bereiches von etwa O0C bis etwa 700C. BIe Reaktion ist in den meisten Fällen
exotherm und daher kann Kühlung von aussen notwendig sein,
um die Reaktionstemperatur innerhalb des festgestellten Bereiches su halten.
Die Hydrolysestufe wird am zweckmäßigsten bewirkt» indem man
das Heaktionsprodukt dee Hydroxyketone oder -aldehyde und
Acrylnitrila mit Bis oder einem Gemisch aus Sie und Wasser in Berührung bringt, v/obel dafür Sorge getragen wird, dass
man die Temperatur für die Hydrolyse unterhalb etwa 1000O9

Sie werden ihrerseits hergestellt durch die Kondensation von 2 Hol eines aliphatischen Oxokohlenwaseerstoffe, nämlich eines

Bine andere bequeme Hethode aur Herstellung der H-3-oxokohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten
Acrylamide besteht in der Reaktion eines Acrylnitrils mit 2 NoI dee vorstehend beschriebenen
Oxokohlenwaseerstoffee (d.h. einee Ketone oder
Aldehyde mit mindestens einem £( -Wasserstoffatom) in Gegenwart
▼on mindestens einem Mol Schwefelsäure. BIe Reaktionebedingungen
eind im wesentlichen die gleichen wie bei der Reaktion der vorangegangenen Hethode. Eine Theorie, welche die Reaktion
dieser Hethode betrachtet, fordert, dass die beiden Mole dee Oxokohlenwasserstoffee in eitu unter Bildung des ß-Hydroxy-

in der Reaktion eines Acrylnitrils mit einem fli.ß-ungeaättigten
Keton oder Aldehyd, wie er durch Wasaerabspaltung aus dem
oben beschriebenen ß-Hydroxy-oxokohlenwasaerstoff erhalten wirde
Sie Bedingungen für diese Reaktion sind ebenfalls im wesentlichen die gleiohen wie für die Umsetzungen der ersten beiden Methodeno
Spezifische Beispiele der ungesättigten Ketone oder Aldehyde sind Mesityloxyd, 1-Buten-3-on, und 2-Pentenal·
Die V-^-oxokoalenwasserstoffsubstituierten Acrylamide sind
meistens Flüssigkeiten oder amorphe oder kristalline Feststoffe. Ihre hauptsächliche Anwendung ist die als Monomere zur Umwandlung in Polymere, welche als Zusätze in Anatrlohaassen,
Brennstoffölen, Schmiermitteln und Insektiziden Massen brauchbar sind. Xssoll verstanden werden, dass in der vorliegenden

Die Ä-3-oxokohlenwasBerstoffsubstituierten Acrylamide werden
gewöhnlich nach der Technik der Freiradikalpolyuerleation
(auch bekannt als Additionapolymerisationeteohnik) polymerisiert·
Sine solche Teoiinik besteht in dem Inberührungbrlngen des
Monomeren mit einem Polymerisationsanreger, entweder in Abwesenheit oder in Anwesenheit eines Verdünnungsmittels, bei
einer Temperatur gewöhnlich zwischen 0 und 2000C. Der PoIymerisationsanreger
ist eine Substanz, welche in der Lage ist, unter den Polymerieationsbedingungen freie Radikale zu bilden,
wie beispielsweise BenEoylperoxyd, terto-Butylhydroperoxyd,
Ouoylperoxyd, Kaliumpersulfat, Aoetylperoxyd, Wasserstoffperoxyd,
Azo-bia-isobuttersäurenitril, oder Bensopersäure·
Aus Gründen der Wirtschaftlichkeit werden meistens Bensoylperoxyd
oder Azo-bis-isobutteraäurenitril verwendet.
Die I-3-oxokohlenwasser8toffsub8tituierten Acrylamide können
auch polymerisiert oder copolymerisiert werden, indem nan
einen anionischen Anreger verwendet wie Natriunnaphthylen

Die Polymerisation von N-^-oxo^ohlenwasserstoi'fsubstitulerten
Acrylauiden kann auch nach anderen Polymerisationsmethoden
bewirkt werden wie beispielsweise unter Verwendung von Ziegler-Katalysatoren, Bestrahlung mit Gammastrahlen oder nach
thermischen Methoden.
Das Verdünnungsmittel für das Folymerisationsgemisch kann
entweder ein in^rtea Lösungsmittel sein wie Benzol, Toluol,
Xylol, Cyclohexan, n-Hexau, Naphtha, Tetrahydrofuran, farbloses Paraffinö.l oder Dotlecan, es kann aber auch ein Hichtlösungamittel
sein, wie Wasser oder flüssiges Ammoniak« So kann die Polymerisation im Block, in Lösung, Emulsion oder
Suspension ausgeführt werden»
Die Polymer!sationstemperatur ist von dem verwendeten Katalysatorsyetem,
und in gewissem Ausmass von der Natur der
su polymerislersnden Monomeren abhängig. So kann die Copolymerisation
von Acrylnitril mit dem Acrylamid nach der Erfindung durch einen anionischen Anreger bei Temperaturen
von etwa -1000O bis 500C, vorzugsweise bei -700C bie O0C,
katalysiert werden. Andererseits liegt die Optimaltemperatur sur Bewirkung der durch freie Radikale katalysierten Homo-

Die relativen Mengenverhältnisse der bei der Mischpolymerisation
su verwendenden H-3-oxokohltmwasseretoffsubstltüierten
Acrylamide und der Ylnyleoaonomeren,
hangen sowohl von der Reaktionsfähigkeit dieser Monomeren
als auoh von den Eigenschaften ab, welche von den gebildeten Mischpolymeren gewünscht werden. Beispielsweise
erhält nan Mischpolymere, von denen Starrheit gewünscht wird, durch Polymer!eation eines Gemisches von Monomeren,

welche wenige Substitutionen baw. Substitutionen relativ kurzer Kettenlänge auf weisen.Wird ein nooh höherer Grad an
Starrheit gewünscht, so kann nan ein Monomergemlsch verwenden,
welchem eine kleine Menge eines bifunktionellen Monomeren wie Sivinylbensol einverleibt ist, welches das Polymere vernetzt.
Andererseits erhalt man Mischpolymere mit einem hohen Löslichkeltsgrod
In einem Kohlenwasserstofföl aus einem Polymerisationsgemisch,
welches einen relativ hohen Anteil eines öllösenden Monomeren enthält, d.h. eines solchen, welohee
eine allphatisehe Gruppe mit mindestens etwa 8 Kohlenstoffatomen
aufweist. Es wurde gefunden, dass für die meisten Anwendungen das löllösende Monomere mindestens etwa 50 Gew.Jt,
vorzugsweise mindestens etwa 75$ des Mischpolymeren ausmachen
sollte.
Die folgenden Beispiele veranschaulichen die Verfahren zur Herstellung der H-oxokohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Acrylamid··
Ein Gemisch aus 185,5g (3*5 Mol) Acrylnitril und 406g (7MoI)
Aceton wird tropfenweise su 686g (7 Mol) konaentrierter
Schwefelsäure hlnjBUge<geben, während das Reaktionsgemisoh durch
Kühlung von aussen bei einer Temperatur swisohen 5 und 25°0

gehalten wird. Danach läset man due Gemisch sich auf 35 bie
4O0C erwärmen und gießt es dann langsam über Sis« Bas sich
ergebende Semisch wird mit Natriumhydroxyd neutralisiert und
die wässrige Schicht mit Benzol extrahiert. Die organische Schicht und die Benzollösung werden kombiniert, mit Calciumchlorid getrocknet und filtriert. Due Piltrat wird zum Abdestillieren
des Benzols erhitzt. Der Rückstand wird im Vakuum destilliert und N-1.1-Dimethyl-3-oxobutyl-acrylamid
wird gesammeltr wenn daa Destillat bei 93 bie 100°C/0,1 bis
0,3mm übergeht^ es hat einen Stickstoffgehalt von 8#, (Theories
und ein Molekulargewicht von 163 (Theorie 169)»
Beiapiel 2
Ein H-3-oxokohlenwasaerstoffsubstituiertes Acrylamid wird
hergestellt nach der Arbeitsweise gemäss Beispiel 1 mit der
Ausnahme, dass das Aceton durch Methylethylketon (505g, 7 Hol) ersetzt wird«, Das Produkt wird mit dem Destillat bei 97 bis

von Benzol erhitzt und der Rückstand wird mit Petrolather
behandelt und ergibt einen Niederschlagt nämlich H-1.1-Dimethyl-3-oxobuty1-aorylerntd,
von welchem gefunden wird, dass es einen Stickstoffgehalt von 8t3j* und ein Molekulargewicht von 176
besitzt.
Sin Oealsoh aus '59g (3 Mol) Aorylnitril und 294g (3 Mol)

Beispiel 1 wird erkalten, indem man 36g Deoylacrylat, 4g
des Acrylamide, 40g Benaol und 0,1g Azo-bis-isobutuersäure«·

sich von einem handelsüblichen Gemisch primärer Alkenole mit 12 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen ableitet, 200g
Benzol, und 1g Benzoylperoxyd für 3 Stunden rührt. Bas
Polymere fällt aus der Bensollösung mit Methanol aus und man findet, dass es einen Stickstoffgehalt von 3,2£ aufweist·
Sin ferpolymeres aus dem Acrylamid von Beispiel 1, Vinylacetat

und 154g des Fumarats, 1g Benzoylperoxyd, und
150g Benzol in eine geschlossene Flasche in StickstoffatBiosphäre
bringt und die Flasche für 20 Stunden in ein konstantes Temperaturbad bei 600O bringt· Das Polymere wird
mit »ethanol ausgefällt.
Ein Terpolymeres aus dem Acrylamid von Beispiel 1» N-Vinyloxazolidon,
und dem Dialkylfumarat von Beispiel 9 wird erhalten,
indem man 35,5g des Acrylamide, 12,8g des V-Vinyloxazolidons,

wird mit Methanol ausgefällt.
Sa wird ein Terpolymeree aus dem Acrylamid von Beispiel 1,
Isopren, und dem Dialkylfumarat von Beispiel 9 gewonnen,
indem man 28,7g des Acrylamide, 11,6g Isopren, 159»7g dee
Fumarate, 0,2g Aao-bie-isobuttersäurenitril. und 150g Bensol
in eine geschlossene Flasche in Stickstoffatmosphäre bringt,
und die Flasche für 22 Stunden in ein konstantes Temperaturbad bei 600C bringt. Das Polymere wird mit Methanol ausgefällt.
Hach der Arbeitsweise des Beispiele 8 wird ein Copolymeres
aus Deoylaorylet (36 Gewichtsteile) und dem Acrylamid von
Beispiel 2 (4 Teile) gewonnen. Man findet, dass das Copolymere einen Stickstoffgehalt von O,73£ (Theorie: O,71£) besitzt.

Man lässt das Gemisch sich auf Raumtemperatur erwärmen und es tritt eine exotherme Reaktion ein, welohe einen Temperaturanstieg auf 5O0CJ verursacht. Das ausgefällte Polymere wird aus der Lösung abfiltriert und daduroh gereinigt, dass man es in Dimethylformamid auflöst und durch Zusatz von Methanol wieder ausfällt. Man findet, dass das getrocknete Polymere einen Stickstoffgehalt von 23,5# aufweist.

Man findet, dass das getrocknete Polymere einen Stickstoffgehalt von 23,5# aufweist.

kautechukartigen Polymeren, welches beim Stehenbleiben ausfällt,
und Waschen mit Wasser· Bas Polymere wird weiter gereinigt, indem nan es in Aceton auflöst und durch Zusatz von
Methanol wieder ausfällt. Man findet, dass das getrocknete Polymere einen Stickstoffgehalt von 8,03# aufweist.
Die erfindungsgemäesen Polymeren und Mischpolymeren der
N-3-oxoko2ilenwa38er et off substituier ten Acrylamide sind für
viele Zwecke brauchbar. Bis zu einem grossen Ausmas8 steht
die besondere Brauchbarkeit solcher Polymeren mit der Anwesenheit des Oxoradikals in den Acrylamideinhelten in Verbindung.
So wurde gefunden, dass das Oxoradikal den polaren Charakter des Polymeren erhöht und dies führt beispielsweise
au einer gröseeeen Reinigungewirkung dee Polymeren, wenn
dieses als Zusata in Brennstoffen oder Schmiermitteln verwendet
wird· Auch führt dies asu einer grösseren Verträglichkeit
der Polymeren mit organischen farbstoffen, so dass synthetische fasern, welche aus solchen Polymeren hergestellt wurden, der

künstlichen Anfärbung leicht zugänglich sind und ferner eich
durch einen lohen Grad an Farbechtheit auszeichnen.
Bei Zusatz zu einem Schmiermittel verleihen die Polymeren
der H-3-oxokoblenwas8er3toffsubstituierten Acrylamide
Reinigungseigenschaften, verbessern die Viakositätsindexwerte
und erniedrigen den Stockpunkt des Schmiermittels. Mineralschmieröle sind einer solchen Verbesserung besonders
zugänglich. Die gewöhnlioherweise verwendeten öle sind diejenigen
mit Viakoaitätswerten im Bereich von etwa 50 SUS
(Saybolt Universal Seconds) bei 380C bis zu 500 SUS bei
ο
99 O* und sind vorzugsweise raffinierte Mineralschmieröle der Qualitäten SAE 5 bis SAS 120. Andere Schmieröle wie pflanzliche öle, tierische öle, Siliconöle und synthetische Polyesteröle sind ebenfalls der Verbesserung durch Einverleiben der Polymeren zugänglich. Die Konzentration der Polymeren in einem Schmiermittel schwankt von 0,1# bis 10$, öfter von bis
99 O* und sind vorzugsweise raffinierte Mineralschmieröle der Qualitäten SAE 5 bis SAS 120. Andere Schmieröle wie pflanzliche öle, tierische öle, Siliconöle und synthetische Polyesteröle sind ebenfalls der Verbesserung durch Einverleiben der Polymeren zugänglich. Die Konzentration der Polymeren in einem Schmiermittel schwankt von 0,1# bis 10$, öfter von bis
Schmiermittel, welche erfindungsgemässe Polymere enthalten,
können auch andere herkömmliche Additives enthalten wie metallhaltige Reinigungsmittel (beispielsweise Bariua-di-6odeoylbenzolsulfonat,
Oalcium-mahoganysulfoaat); Inhibitoren
(beispielsweise Zink-diootyldithlophosphat, Diootylphoephit,

Die Wirksamkeit der erfindungsgemässen Polymeren als Zusatzstoffe
in Schmiermitteln« um diesen Reinigungaeigensohaften
zu verleihen» wird durch die Ergebnisse (nachstehende Tabelle III) eines Reinigungstests gezeigt. Bei diesem Test wird ein·
350om -Probe eines Schmieröls, welches den Reinigungszusats
enthält, in ein 5 x 38cm Borsilioatrohr gebracht. Bine Stahltafel wird in das öl eingetaucht. Die Probe wird für 96 Stunden
beii49°C erhitzt, während man mit der Geschwindigkeit von

10 Litern je Stunde Luft durch das öl perlen läset. Die
oxydierte Probe wird auf 490O abgekühlt, mit 0,5?* Waaeer
vermischt, homogenisiert, 24 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur stehengelassen, und dann bei 20mm Queoksilberdruck durch
zwei Sohiohten Whatman-?ilterpapier Hr. 1 filtriert. Das
Gewicht des Viedersohlages, mit Naphtha gewaschen und getrocknet,
wird als Nass für die Wirksamkeit des Additivee
genommen· Je grosser das Gewicht des Hledersohlages, umso
weniger wirkeaa der Zusatz. Das in diesem Test verwendete
SchmierOl ist ein herkömmliches raffiniertes Erdöl des mittleren
Kontinents mit einer Viskosität von etwa 200 SUS bei 380C
und einem Gehalt an 0,001 Gew.jt Bisennaphthenat (aur Förderung
der Oxydation).

Claims (19)
1. N-3-oxokohlenwasserütoffsubstituiertes Acrylamid der
Strukturformel:
in welcher R und R" je aus der Klasse Wasserstoff und
niedere Alkylraöikale ausgewählt sind, und R' ein niederes alkyleubstituiertes Äthylenradikal ist,
2. Acrylamind nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,

7. Verfahren zur Herstellung von N-3-oxokohlenwaseerstoffsubetituierten
Acrylamiden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß

aus einem Acrylnitril und einem Mol eines fi-Hydroxy-oxokohlenwaeserstoffs
mit mindestens einem Mol Schwefelsäure je iuol ν erwendeten Acrylnitrils umsetzt.
8· Verfahren nach Anspruch 7» dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der
niedere ß-Hydroxy-oxokohlenwaeserstoff ein aliphatischee
ß-Hydroxyketon ist.

9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7» dadurch gekennzeichnet« daß der niedere ß-Hydroxy-oxokohlenwasserstoff ein ß-Hydroxyalkanon

niedere ß-Hydroxy-oxokohlenwasserstoff in situ aue einem
Oxokohlenwasserstoff gebildet wird, welcher mindestens ein
ct-Waeaeratoffatom enthält.
11. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7« daduroh gekennzeichnet, daß der
ß-Hydroxy-oxokohienwasserstoff in situ aus einem Methy1-keton
gebildet wird.
12. Verfahren eur Herstellung von N-3-oxokohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten
Acrylamiden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man bei einer Temperatur unterhalb etwa 1000C ein Gemisch aus
einem Acrylnitril und 2 kol eines aliphatischen Oxokohlenwasserstoffes,
welcher mindest ein oL-'iTasserstoffatom aufweist,
mit zumindeetene einem Mol Schwefelsäure Je Mol verwendeten
Acrylnitrilβ umsetzt·
13. Verfahren zur Herstellung von N-3-oxokohlenwasserstoff-
substituierten Acrylamiden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man
ein Gemisch aus Acrylnitril und 2 Mol eines Methylketons,
mit zumindest einem Mol Schwefelsäure je Mol verwendeten
Acrylnitrils bei einer Temperatur unterhalb etwa 1000C zur
