Gröfsere Schraubenmuttern mufste man bisher mühsam von Hand anfertigen, da durch die bereits bestehenden Mutterschneidemaschinen nur kleinere Muttern hergestellt werden konnten. Mittelst der neuen Vorrichtung können gröfsere Muttern nicht nur schnell, sondern auch exact hergestellt werden. Zu diesem Zwecke wird eine entsprechend breite Eisenstange, welche schweifswarm gemacht ist, unter den Fallhammer, in eine entsprechend geformte Matrize, zu welcher ein am Hammer angebrachter Stempel pafst, gebracht. Nachdem das Stück durch einen oder mehrere Schläge des Hammers von der Stange getrennt worden ist und die vier- oder sechskantige, einer- oder beiderseits abgerundete Form erhalten hat, wird der Hebel α so weit gedreht, bis er an die eine Säule des Hammers anstöfst.
