Description
In der Hauptanmellung sind Organosiliciumverbindungen
der Formel I beschrieben,
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n -SiX a Y b Z c (I)
in denen die Substituenten X, Y und Z jeweils H, F, Cl,
Br, I, CN, NC, OCN, NCO, SCN, NCS oder N3,
R1 H, eine Alkylgruppe mit 1-10 C-Atomen, worin auch eine oder zwei nicht benachbarte CH2- Gruppen durch O-Atome ersetzt sein können, F, Cl, Br oder CN,
A1 und A2 jeweils 1,4-Phenylen- oder 1,4-Cyclohexylengruppen, eine der Gruppen A1 und A2 auch eine Einfachbindung,
a, b und c 0, 1, 2 oder 3 und
n 2, 3, 4, 5 oder 6
bedeuten, mit der Maßgabe das a + b + c = 3 und mindestens einer der Substituenten X, Y, Z von H verschieden ist.
R1 H, eine Alkylgruppe mit 1-10 C-Atomen, worin auch eine oder zwei nicht benachbarte CH2- Gruppen durch O-Atome ersetzt sein können, F, Cl, Br oder CN,
A1 und A2 jeweils 1,4-Phenylen- oder 1,4-Cyclohexylengruppen, eine der Gruppen A1 und A2 auch eine Einfachbindung,
a, b und c 0, 1, 2 oder 3 und
n 2, 3, 4, 5 oder 6
bedeuten, mit der Maßgabe das a + b + c = 3 und mindestens einer der Substituenten X, Y, Z von H verschieden ist.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I eignen sich in ausgezeichneter
Weise zur homöotropen Ausrichtung flüssigkristalliner
Phasen auf Oberflächen, z. B. Glasplatten,
die auch beschichtet sein können, wie sie bei der Herstellung
elektrooptischer Anzeigeelemente verwendet
werden.
Es wurde nun zusätzlich gefunden, daß entsprechende
Organosiliciumverbindungen der Formel I, bei denen X, Y,
und Z jeweils eine Alkoxygruppe mit 1 bis 15 C-Atomen
bedeutet, worin auch eine oder mehrere nicht benachbarte
CH2-Gruppen durch -O-, -CO- und/oder -CH=CH- ersetzt
sein können, und R1, A1, A2, n, a, b, und c die in der
Hauptanmeldung angegebene Bedeutung besitzen, ebenfalls
zur Erzeugung einer homöotropen Orientierung flüssigkristalliner
Phasen auf Oberflächen verwendet werden
können. Insbesondere sind sie geeignet zur Anwendung
in stark polaren, mit den Verbindungen der Hauptanmeldung
reagierenden Lösungsmitteln und damit zum drucktechnischen
Einsatz bei der Herstellung flüssigkristalliner
Dielektrika.
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind somit Organosiliciumverbindungen
entsprechend der Formel I der Hauptanmeldung,
worin aber X, Y und Z jeweils eine Alkoxygruppe mit
1 bis 15 C-Atomen bedeuten, worin auch eine oder mehrere
nicht benachbarte CH2-Gruppen durch -O-, -CO- und/oder
-CH=CH- ersetzt sein können,
sowie ein Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung, indem man eine ungesättigte Verbindung der Formel II,
sowie ein Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung, indem man eine ungesättigte Verbindung der Formel II,
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n-1 (II)
mit einem Silan H-SiX a Y b Z c , worin R1, A1, A2, X, Y, Z,
a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung
haben, umsetzt,
oder daß man ein Halogenid der Formel III,
oder daß man ein Halogenid der Formel III,
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n -Hal (III)
mit einem Silan H-SiX a Y b Z c , worin R1, A1, A2, X, Y, Z,
a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung
besitzen und Hal Cl, Br oder I bedeutet, umsetzt,
oder daß man ein Halogensilan der Formel I,
worin mindestens einer der Reste X, Y, Z Cl, Br und/oder I bedeutet, R1, A1, A2, a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung haben, mit einer Hydroxygruppen enthaltenden Verbindung umsetzt.
oder daß man ein Halogensilan der Formel I,
worin mindestens einer der Reste X, Y, Z Cl, Br und/oder I bedeutet, R1, A1, A2, a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung haben, mit einer Hydroxygruppen enthaltenden Verbindung umsetzt.
Bevorzugte Organosiliciumverbindungen der Formel I sind
diejenigen, deren Substituenten X, Y und Z gleich sind
(a = b = c ≠≠ H).
Ganz besonders bevorzugt sind Verbindungen der Formel I
nach Anspruch 1, in denen X, Y, Z Methoxy, Ethoxy,
Propyloxy, Isopropyloxy oder 1-Methyl-3-oxobut-1-enyloxy
bedeuten.
Für die Organosiliciumverbindungen der Formel 1 haben
R1, A1, A2, a, b, c und n die allgemeinen oder bevorzugten
Bedeutungen, die schon in der Hauptanmeldung für
die dort beschriebenen Verbindungen genannt worden sind.
In den Verbindungen der vor- und nachstehenden Formeln
bedeuten R1 vorzugsweise Alkyl, ferner Alkoxy (insbesondere
wenn dieser Rest an einer Phe-Gruppe steht)
oder eine andere Oxaalkylgruppe.
Der Parameter n hat vorzugsweise den Wert 3. Der Rest
C n H2n ist vorzugsweise geradkettig und steht dementsprechend
insbesondere für -(CH2)3-, ferner insbesondere
für -(CH2)2)-, -(CH2)4-, -(CH2)5- oder -(CH2)6-.
In den Verbindungen der vor- und nachstehenden Formeln
können die Alkylreste geradkettig oder verzweigt sein.
Vorzugsweise sind sie geradkettig, haben 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
6 oder 7 C-Atome und bedeuten demnach bevorzugt Methyl,
Ethyl, Propyl, Butyl, Pentyl, Hexyl oder Heptyl. R1 kann
auch eine Alkylgruppe bedeuten, worin eine ("Alkoxy" bzw.
"Oxaalkyl") oder 2 ("Alkoxyalkoxy" bzw. "Dioxaalkyl")
nicht benachbarte CH2-Gruppen durch O-Atome ersetzt sein
können, bevorzugt Methoxy, Ethoxy, Propoxy, Butoxy,
Pentoxy, Hexoxy, Heptoxy, 2-Oxapropyl (= Methoxymethyl),
2- (= Ethoxymethyl) oder 3-Oxabutyl (= 3-Methoxyethyl),
2-, 3-, 4-, 5- oder 6-Oxaheptyl.
R1 kann ferner beispielsweise bedeuten Octyl, Nonyl,
Decyl, Octoxy, Nonoxy, Decoxy, 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6- oder
7-Oxaoctyl, 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7- oder 8-Oxanonyl, 2-,
3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, 8- oder 9-Oxadecyl, 1,3-Dioxabutyl
(= Methoxymethoxy), 1,3-, 1,4- oder 2,4-Dioxapentyl,
1,3-, 1,4-, 1,5-, 2,4-, 2,5 oder 3,5-Dioxahexyl, 1,3-,
1,4-, 1,5-, 1,6-, 2,4-, 2,5-, 2,6-, 3,5-, 3,6- oder
4,6 Dioxaheptyl. Bevorzugte Bedeutungen des Restes R1
sind ferner F, Cl, Br oder CN.
Verbindungen der Formel I sowie Ia bis Id mit verzweigtem
Rest R1 können gelegentlich wegen einer besseren Löslichkeit
in den üblichen flüssigkristallinen Basismaterialien
von Bedeutung sein, ferner auch als Dotierstoffe, wenn
sie optisch aktiv sind. Verzweigte Gruppen dieser Art
enthalten in der Regel nicht mehr als eine Kettenverzweigung.
Bevorzugte verzweigte Reste R1 sind Isopropyl,
2-Butyl (= 1 Methylpropyl), Isobutyl (= 2-Methylpropyl),
2-Methylbutyl, Isopentyl (= 3-Methylbutyl); R1 kann ferner
bedeuten 2-Methylpentyl, 3-Methylpentyl, 2-Ethylhexyl,
2-Propylpentyl, Isopropoxy, 2-Methylpropoxy, 2-Methylbutoxy,
3-Methylbutoxy, 2-Methylpentoxy, 3-Methylpentoxy,
1-Methylhexoxy, 1-Methylheptoxy, 2-Ethylhexoxy, 2-Oxa-
3-methylbutyl, 3-Oxa-4-methylpentyl.
Falls die Gruppen A1 und/oder A2 in 1- und 4-Stellung
disubstituierte Cyclohexylengruppen bedeuten, so können
die Substituenten in cis- oder trans-Stellung stehen.
Die Verbindungen mit trans-Konfiguration sind bevorzugt.
Verbindungen der Formel I mit optisch-aktiven C-Atomen
umschließen sowohl die Racemate als auch die entsprechenden
optisch-aktiven Enantiomeren sowie deren Gemische.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I können nach an sich bekannten
Methoden hergestellt werden, wie sie in der Literatur
(z. B. in den Standard-Werken wie Houben-Weyl, Methoden
der Organischen Chemie, Bd. XIII, 5, Georg-Thieme-Verlag,
Stuttgart) beschrieben sind, und zwar unter Reaktionsbedingungen,
die für die genannten Umsetzungen bekannt
und geeignet sind. Dabei kann man auch von an sich
bekannten, hier nicht näher erwähnten Varianten Gebrauch
machen.
Sie können beispielsweise hergestellt werden, indem man
einen ungesättigten Ether der Formel II,
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n-1 (II)
mit einem Silan H-SiX a Y b Z c , worin R1, A1, A2, X, Y, Z,
a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung
haben, umsetzt.
Die Silane der Formel H-SiX a Y b Z c sind bekannt, oder
können nach bekannten Methoden wie sie beispielsweise
in der voranstehenden Literatur beschrieben sind, hergestellt
werden.
Die Ether der Formel II können ihrerseits durch Alkenylierung
von Hydroxyverbindungen der Formel IV
R1-A1-A2-OH (IV)
mit einem entsprechenden Alkenylhalogenid der Formel
C n H2n-1Cl oder C n H2n-1Br oder einem Alkenylsulfonat der
Formel Alkyl-SO2-C n H2n - oder Aryl-SO2-C n H2n-1 hergestellt
werden.
Die Addition der Silane H-SiX a Y b Z c an die ungesättigten
Ether der Formel II gelingt zweckmäßig in Gegenwart
eines inerten Lösungsmittels, z. B. eines halogenierten
Kohlenwasserstoffs wie Dichlormethan bei Temperaturen
zwischen etwa 0 und etwa 100°, zweckmäßig bei Siedetemperatur.
Das Silan wird vorteilhaft im Überschuß
eingesetzt. Der Zusatz eines Edelmetallkatalysators,
beispielsweise einer Lösung von H2PtCl6 in Isopropanol,
ist dabei vorteilhaft. Auch durch Zusatz von Peroxiden
wie Diacetylperoxid und/oder Bestrahlung mit Licht läßt
sich die Umsetzung beschleunigen.
Weiterhin können Silane der Formel H-SiX a Y b Z c auch mit
eine Halogenid der Formel IV,
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n -Hal (IV)
worin R1, A1, A2, X, Y, Z, a, b, c und n die in Ansprurch 1
angegebene Bedeutung haben und Hal Cl, Br oder I bedeutet,
umgesetzt werden. Die Reaktion der Silane mit den Halogeniden
der Formel IV erfolgt zweckmäßig in Gegenwart
eines inerten Lösungsmittels wie beispielsweise einem
Ether oder einem Kohlenwasserstoff wie Benzol oder Toluol.
Vorzugsweise setzt man dem Reaktionsgemisch eine Base,
z. B. in Form eines organischen Amins wie Pyridin, Triethylamin
oder Butylamin, zur Entfernung des entstehenden
Halogenwasserstoffs zu. Die Reaktionstemperaturen liegen
zwischen etwa 0° und etwa 150°, zweckmäßigerweise bei
Siedetemperatur.
Des weiteren können Siliciumverbindungen der Formel I
nach Anspruch 1 aus Halogensilanen der Formel I, worin
mindestens einer der Reste X, Y, Z Cl, Br oder I bedeutet
und R1, A1, A2, a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene
Bedeutung haben, durch Umsetzung mit einer Hydroxygruppen
enthaltenden Verbindung hergestellt werden. So können die
Hydroxyverbindungen an sich oder in Form ihrer Salze wie
z. B. den Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetallsalzen in die Reaktion
mit den Halogensilanen eingesetzt werden. Außer
primären, sekundären und tertiären Alkoholen eignen sich
auch beispielsweise enolisierbare 1,3-Diketone oder deren
Salze und reaktive Abkömmlinge zur Umsetzung mit Halogensilanen
zu den erfindungsgemäßen Organosiliciumverbindungen.
Die Reaktionen der Halogensilane der Formel I mit den
Hydroxylgruppen enthaltenden Verbindungen erfolgt zweckmäßig
in Gegenwart eines inerten Lösungsmittels wie
beispielsweise einem Ether oder einem Kohlenwasserstoff
wie Benzol oder Toluol. Vorzugsweise setzt man dem Reaktionsgemisch
eine Base, z. B. in Form eines organischen
Amins wie Pyridin, Triethylamin oder Butylamin, zur Entfernung
des entstehenden Halogenwasserstoffs zu. Die
Reaktionstemperaturen liegen zwischen etwa -20° und 120°,
zweckmäßigerweise bei Raumtemperatur.
Zur Verwendung in Bedruckungsverfahren, bei denen der Einsatz
polarer Lösungsmittel geboten ist, kann die Umsetzung
der Halogensilane der Formel I in einem Überschuß des
betreffenden Alkohols erfolgen. Die erhaltenen Lösungen
von Organosiliciumverbindungen der Formel I können dann,
gegebenenfalls nach Entfernen des während der Umsetzung
gebildeten Salzes der zugesetzten organischen Base, direkt
zur Oberflächenbeschichtung verwendet werden.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I können ebenso wie die in
der Hauptanmeldung genannten unmittelbar zur Beschichtung
der zu behandelnden Oberflächen verwendet werden. Zur
Beschichtung eignen sich insbesondere oxidische Oberflächen,
z. B. solche von Metall-, Halbmetall- oder
Nichtmetalloxiden, vor allem aber Glasoberflächen. Die
Beschichtung kann auf die in der Hauptanmeldung beschriebenen
Art und Weise erfolgen. Aufgrund ihrer Stabilität
in reaktiven Lösungsmitteln wie beispielsweise Alkoholen
sind die erfindungsgemäßen Organosiliciumverbindungen
besonders für die drucktechnische Verarbeitung geeignet.
Bei dieser Anwendungsweise ist der Einsatz der in der
Hauptanmeldung angegebenen Organosilanlösungen nicht
möglich.
Man beschichtet zweckmäßig, indem man die vorher gereinigten
Oberflächen mit einer etwa 0,1 bis 1%igen Lösung einer
Verbindungen der Formel I in einem Alkohol wie beispielsweise
Methanol, Ethanol oder Isopropanol bedruckt. Anschließend
wird das Lösungsmittel verdampft und die
beschichtete Oberfläche wird zur Erhöhung der Stabilität
der Orientierungsschicht einer wasserdampfhaltigen Atmosphäre
ausgesetzt. Es entsteht ein gleichmäßiger, hochmolekularer
Film, der flüssigkristalline Phasen homöotrop
zu orientieren vermag. Zur Erleichterung der Handhabung
von Verbindungen der Formel I können diese unmittelbar
nach ihrer Herstellung und nach destillativer Entfernung
flüchtiger Reaktionskomponenten in einem geeigneten
Lösungsmittel wie z. B. Ethanol oder Isopropanol gelöst
und in einer mit einem Septum verschlossenen Flasche aufbewahrt
werden. Mit einer Spritze wird nur die jeweils
benötigte Menge aus der Vorratsflasche entnommen, so daß
die restliche Lösung vor Hydrolyse durch Luftfeuchtigkeit
geschützt bleibt.
Mit den Verbindungen der Formel I steht somit ein
wirkungsvolles Mittel zur Erzeugung einer homöotropen
Orientierung flüssigkristalliner Phasen auf Oberflächen
zur Verfügung.
Die folgenden Beispiele sollen die Erfindung erläutern,
ohne sie zu begrenzen. Vor- und nachstehend bedeuten
Prozentangaben Gewichtsprozent; alle Temperaturen sind
in Grad Celsius angegeben.
Man gibt zu einer Lösung von 10 g 3-(p-trans-4-Propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-
propan in 10 ml Dichlormethan 9,6 g
Triethoxysilan und 0,4 ml einer 0,01 molaren Lösung von
H2PtCl6 in Isopropanol. Man rührt 2 Tage bei 35°C und
destilliert dann das Lösungsmittel und das überschüssige
Triethoxysilan ab. so erhaltenes rohes 1-Triethoxysilyl-
3-(p-trans-4-propyl-cyclohexylphenoxy)-propan wird in
einer 0,1gen Lösung in Ethanol zur Oberflächenbehandlung
eingesetzt.
200 MHz 1H-NMR (CDCl3): 0,60-2,40 (30H, aliphatische H),
3,72 (q, 6H, Si[OCH 2CH3]3), 3,77 (t, 2H, OCH 2CH2),
6,64-7,07 (AA′BB′, 4H, aromatische H).

propan (hergestellt aus 1-Brom-3-chlorpropan und p-trans-
4-Propylcyclohexylphenol) werden in 250 ml Dichlormethan
gelöst und nach Zusatz von 10 ml Triethylamin und 0,2 Mol
Trimethoxysilan 24 Stdn. zum Rückfluß erhitzt. Man läßt
erkalten und befreit durch Filtration von ausgeschiedenem
Triethylammoniumchlorid. Nach Destillation der überschüssigen
Lösungsmittel unter vermindertem Druck wird
1-Trimethoxysilyl-3-(p-trans-4-propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-
propan erhalten, das in einer 0,1 bis 1%igen Lösung in
Methanol zur Oberflächenbehandlung eingesetzt wird.

tropft man bei Raumtemperatur langsam 0,1 Mol 1-Dichlorsilyl-
3-(p-trans-4-propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-propan (erhalten
analog der in der Hauptanmeldung beschriebenen
Herstellung der entsprechenden Trichlormethylverbindung).
Anschließend wird über Nacht weitergerührt. Man entfernt
den Austauscher durch Filtration und erhält so eine
Lösung von 1-Diisopropyloxy-3-(p-trans-4-propyl-cyclohexylphenoxy)-
propan, die zur Verwendung bei der Oberflächenbehandlung
mittels Druckverfahren geeignet ist.

Zu einer Lösung von 10 g 1-Trichlorsilyl-3-(p-trans-4-
propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-propan in 100 ml Dichlormethan
werden 10,3 ml Pyridin und 13,2 ml Acetylaceton gegeben.
Es wird 5 Std. bei Raumtemperatur gerührt und dann unter
Stickstoff von Pyridiniumhydrochlorid abfiltriert. Die
so erhaltene klare Lösung wird eingeengt. Das rohe
1-(1-Methyl-3-oxo-but-1-enyloxysilyl)-3-(p-trans-4-
propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-propan wird als 0,1%ige Lösung
zur Oberflächenbehandlung eingesetzt.

1-(1-Methyl-3-oxo-but-1-enyloxysilyl-2-methyl-3-(p-trans- 4-propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-propan.
Ein Gemisch aus
50,2% Buttersäure (p-trans-4-propylcyclohexyl-phenylester)
25,3% p-trans-4-Butylcyclohexylbenzoesäure-(trans- 4-propylcyclohexylester)
24,3% p-trans-4-Propylcyclohexylbenzoesäure-(trans- 4-propylcyclohexylester) und
0,2% 1-Triethoxysilyl-3-(p-trans-4-propylcyclohexylphenoxy)- propan
25,3% p-trans-4-Butylcyclohexylbenzoesäure-(trans- 4-propylcyclohexylester)
24,3% p-trans-4-Propylcyclohexylbenzoesäure-(trans- 4-propylcyclohexylester) und
0,2% 1-Triethoxysilyl-3-(p-trans-4-propylcyclohexylphenoxy)- propan
eignet sich als flüssigkristallines Dielektrikum.
Anwendungbeispiel: Beschichtung von Glasoberflächen
Die in 1,1,1-Trichlorethan-Dampf sorgfältig gereinigten
Gläser werden mit einer 0,5%igen Lösung von 1-Triethoxysilyl-
3-(p-trans-4-propylcyclohexylphenoxy)-propan in
Isopropanol bedruckt und das Lösungsmittel an der Luft
verdampft. Kurzzeitiges Einbringen der bedruckten Gläser
in eine wasserdampfhaltige Atmosphäre erhöht die Stabilität
der Orientierungsschicht.
Die anderen Organosiliciumverbindungen der Formel I nach
Anspruch 1 eignen sich in gleich guter Weise zur Beschichtung
von Oberflächen zur Erzeugung einer homöotropen
Orientierung flüssigkristalliner Phasen.
Claims (8)
1. Organosiliciumverbindungen der Formel I
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n -SiX a Y b Z c ,6(I)nach DBP . . . (deutsche Patentanmeldung P 35 21 201.2),
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß hier
X, Y und Z H, eine Alkoxygruppe mit 1 bis 15 C-Atomen, worin auch eine oder mehrere nicht benachbarte CH2-Gruppen durch -O-, -CO- und/oder -CH=CH- ersetzt sein können,
und
R1 H, eine Alkylgruppe mit 1-10 C-Atomen, worin auch eine oder zwei nicht benachbarte CH2-Gruppen durch O-Atome ersetzt sein können, F, Cl, Br oder CN,
A1 und A2 jeweils 1,4-Phenylen- oder 1,4-Cyclohexylengruppen, eine der Gruppen A1 und A2 auch eine Einfachbindung,
a, b und c 0, 1, 2 oder 3 und
n 2, 3, 4, 5 oder 6
bedeuten, mit der Maßgabe das a + b + c = 3 und mindestens einer der Substituenten X, Y, Z von H verschieden ist.
X, Y und Z H, eine Alkoxygruppe mit 1 bis 15 C-Atomen, worin auch eine oder mehrere nicht benachbarte CH2-Gruppen durch -O-, -CO- und/oder -CH=CH- ersetzt sein können,
und
R1 H, eine Alkylgruppe mit 1-10 C-Atomen, worin auch eine oder zwei nicht benachbarte CH2-Gruppen durch O-Atome ersetzt sein können, F, Cl, Br oder CN,
A1 und A2 jeweils 1,4-Phenylen- oder 1,4-Cyclohexylengruppen, eine der Gruppen A1 und A2 auch eine Einfachbindung,
a, b und c 0, 1, 2 oder 3 und
n 2, 3, 4, 5 oder 6
bedeuten, mit der Maßgabe das a + b + c = 3 und mindestens einer der Substituenten X, Y, Z von H verschieden ist.
2. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Organosiliciumverbindungen
der Formel I nach Anspruch 1, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man eine ungesättigte Verbindung
der Formel II,
R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n-1,6(II)mit einem Silan H-SiX a Y b Z c , worin R1, A1, A2, X,
Y, Z, a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene
Bedeutung haben, umsetzt,
oder daß man ein Halogenid der Formel III,R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n -Hal,6(III)mit einem Silan H-SiX a Y b Z c , worin R1, A1, A2, X, Y, Z, a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung haben und Hal, Cl, Br oder I bedeutet, umsetzt,
oder daß man ein Halogensilan der Formel I, worin mindestens einer der Reste X, Y, Z Cl, Br und/oder I bedeutet, mit einer Hydroxylgruppen enthaltenden Verbindungen umsetzt.
oder daß man ein Halogenid der Formel III,R1-A1-A2-O-C n H2n -Hal,6(III)mit einem Silan H-SiX a Y b Z c , worin R1, A1, A2, X, Y, Z, a, b, c und n die in Anspruch 1 angegebene Bedeutung haben und Hal, Cl, Br oder I bedeutet, umsetzt,
oder daß man ein Halogensilan der Formel I, worin mindestens einer der Reste X, Y, Z Cl, Br und/oder I bedeutet, mit einer Hydroxylgruppen enthaltenden Verbindungen umsetzt.
3. Verwendung der Verbindung der Formel I nach
Anspruch 1 als Komponenten flüssigkristalliner
Dielektrika für elektrooptische Anzeigeelemente.
4. Flüssigkeitskristallines Dielektrikum für elektrooptische
Anzeigeelemente mit mindestens zwei flüssigkristallinen
Komponenten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
mindestens eine Komponente eine Verbindung der
Formel I nach Anspruch 1 ist.
5. Elektrooptisches Anzeigeelement, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß es ein Dielektrikum nach Anspruch 4
enthält.
6. Verwendung von Verbindungen der Formel I nach
Anspruch 1 zur Erzeugung einer homöotropen Orientierung
flüssigkristalliner Phasen auf Oberflächen.
7. Verwendung von Verbindungen der Formel I nach
Anspruch 1 in Druckverfahren zur Erzeugung einer
homöotropen Orientierung flüssigkristalliner Phasen
auf Oberflächen.
8. Elektrooptisches Anzeigeelement, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß es Oberflächen enthält, welche mit
einer Verbindung der Formel I nach Anspruch 1
behandelt worden sind.
