Definitions
- the invention relates to a cut gem, in particular diamond.
- the brilliance of a cut gemstone is based on the choice of the cut facets above and below the Rondist plane and the angle formation with each other, the Rondist plane separating the upper and lower part of the gemstone from each other.
- the Rondist plane between the upper and lower side facets forms a circumferential separating edge, the stone setting being usually provided on one cone part of the gemstone, while the other cone part is cut off and the rest is again used as a smaller gemstone, one of which is more or less octahedral basic crystal form.
- the cut gemstone in particular diamond, which is ground in the upper and lower part above and below the Rondist level, each has four or more side facets which end in a stone tip in the lower part, with outer facets being ground on the periphery in the Rondist level, is characterized according to the invention now in that the side facets also run into a stone tip on the upper part, that the outer facets are rhombic in shape and meet in a wreath-shaped arrangement at their corners and that the setting is made from the stone tips.
- the cut gemstone has eight side facets 1 and 2 above and below the Rondist plane E, which end in the cone part with stone tips 3 and 4.
- outer facets 5 are ground, which extend over the theoretical intersection of the edges of the side facets 1, 2 with the girdle plane E and have a diamond shape, and in the case of a wreath-shaped arrangement meet at their corners and which run parallel to the longitudinal stone axis A between the stone tips 3 and 4 run.
- the side facets 1 and 2 thus run into a ring of outer facets 5 on the circumference of the girdle plane E, which (5) each abut one another and are each at right angles to the edges of the upper and lower side facets 1, 2, which in turn end in opposite corners of the outer facets 5.
- the circumferential ring of outer facets 5 has the shape of rhombuses and has a number of eight here.
- a star-shaped facets 6 and 7 are ground in elevation, which then abut the upper and lower corners of the outer facets 5 in the Rondist plane E. .
- all side facets of the new cut shape also have four corner points.
Abstract
Description
Diamant. The invention relates to a cut gem, in particular diamond.
The brilliance of a cut gemstone is based on the choice of the cut facets above and below the Rondist plane and the angle formation with each other, the Rondist plane separating the upper and lower part of the gemstone from each other. In the known stone cuts, the Rondist plane between the upper and lower side facets forms a circumferential separating edge, the stone setting being usually provided on one cone part of the gemstone, while the other cone part is cut off and the rest is again used as a smaller gemstone, one of which is more or less octahedral basic crystal form.
It is known to grind precious stones, in particular diamonds in the upper and lower part above and below the Rondist plane, a large number of side facets, the upper tip being flattened to the observer's side when the stone is set. A diamond cut in this way is shown, for example, in DE-GM 70 19 610 and US Pat. No. 2,340,659. Here, the stone edge in the Rondist plane is ground to secure the edges and as an ornament, especially in order to break out when the stone is gripped by flipping the mounting cramps avoid. This edge break has little influence on the brilliance of the diamond.
It is an object of the invention to achieve a new brilliance and frame shape by means of a new micrograph combined with an often better utilization of the basic crystal form.
The cut gemstone, in particular diamond, which is ground in the upper and lower part above and below the Rondist level, each has four or more side facets which end in a stone tip in the lower part, with outer facets being ground on the periphery in the Rondist level, is characterized according to the invention now in that the side facets also run into a stone tip on the upper part, that the outer facets are rhombic in shape and meet in a wreath-shaped arrangement at their corners and that the setting is made from the stone tips. In this way, a better utilization of the basic shape of the gemstone crystals than octahedra is achieved with a new kind of brilliance, especially in the case of cut gemstones which, when the wreath is exposed from outside facets in the Rondist level, are set from both stone tips in a lying or standing arrangement on the jewelry body, especially a finger ring.
- 1 and 2 show the side view and top view of a first embodiment of a gemstone ground according to the invention and
- Figures 3 and 4, the side view and top view of a second embodiment of a gemstone cut according to the invention.
As can be seen from the drawing in the first exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the cut gemstone has eight
The side facets 1 and 2 thus run into a ring of
For the upper and lower side facets of gemstones, especially diamond cut, there are four divisible numbers, i.e. four, eight and twelve common.
In the second embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, in addition to the upper and
