Description

The present invention relates to a nonwoven whose curly or wavy structure gives it excellent absorption properties, making it particularly suitable for use as a medical or surgical compress.

Currently, medical compresses are obtained from a light fabric - called gauze for dressings - (grammage between 25 and 28 g / m 2 ), the manufacture of which requires the use of expensive and ineffective weaving material. This tissue is then folded and cut into several dimensions: then, each compress is, in general, individually wrapped and sterilized.

Traditional gauze compresses are very flat products, adhering to wounds and having a relatively low coefficient of absorption of fluids. In addition, their elasticity and resilience characteristics are very clearly insufficient.

Numerous researches have aimed at replacing the gauze with nonwovens obtained by the dry route, by the wet route or by the technique known as “spun-bonded and composed of mixtures of synthetic and / or natural fibers.

If the properties of non-woven compresses are appreciably superior to those produced in gauze, with regard in particular to non-adhesion to wounds, they nevertheless remain far below what is desired as regards the absorption capacity.

No. 4,001,472 discloses a nonwoven comprising at least one veil of cellulosic fibers reinforced by a nonwoven grid to which it is fixed by means of an adhesive. The veil has a network of compressed zones intended to form connection points with the wires of the grid. The bonded surface being reduced at these points, the blockage of capillary channels through which the liquids diffuse throughout the mass is avoided. This improves the absorption capacity of nonwovens of this type. However, the use of an adhesive, like any chemical binder, in such a product makes it unsuitable for medical use because of the risks of dissolution by disinfectants. Furthermore, this product remains very flat, the apparent thickness coinciding with that of the material.

The present invention relates to a nonwoven compatible with medical or surgical use overcoming the defects of traditional nonwovens and gauze. Its particular structure allows to combine properties such as high absorption capacity, non-adhesion to wounds, elasticity and resilience.

In general, this nonwoven for medical or surgical compress has a succession of ripples uniformly distributed and whose adjacent bellies are alternately arranged above and below the median plane of the nonwoven and consists of a synthetic grid on one side of which is fixed by thermobonding a web of cellulosic fibers.

In particular, the contiguous bellies of two neighboring undulations, situated on the same side of the median plane of the nonwoven, are made up of small adjacent pads.

Patent FR-A-2 418 819 clearly shows a fibrous product having undulations, but on the one hand, it contains a significant amount of binder making it unsuitable for medical use, on the other hand, the undulations have only 'either a decorative or structural function to improve rigidity.

The invention will be better understood with the aid of the drawings, which represent nonlimiting examples of embodiment of the nonwoven:
  • FIG. 1 is a top view of the nonwoven,
  • FIG. 2 is a sectional view of FIG. 1 along a plane parallel to the machine direction of the nonwoven,
  • FIG. 3 is a sectional view of FIG. 1 along a plane perpendicular to the machine direction of the nonwoven,
  • Figure 4 is a perspective view of a nonwoven consisting of a synthetic grid and a web of cellulosic fibers.

La figure 1 est une vue de dessus d'un non-tissé (1) qui présente un sens machine (2), correspondant au sens longitudinal de production dudit non-tissé, et un sens travers (3) perpendiculaire au sens machine (2).Figure 1 is a top view of a nonwoven (1) which has a machine direction (2), corresponding to the longitudinal direction of production of said nonwoven, and a cross direction (3) perpendicular to the machine direction (2 ).

Ce non-tissé (1) comporte des ondulations ou frisures régulièrement espacées et disposées le long de lignes (5) parallèles au sens machine (2).This nonwoven (1) has corrugations or crimps regularly spaced and arranged along lines (5) parallel to the machine direction (2).

La hauteur et la largeur de ces coussinets sont comprises entre 0,1 et 3 mm.Figure 3 which is a sectional view of Figure 1 along BB, plane perpendicular to the machine direction (2), shows that the contiguous bellies (9, 10) of neighboring corrugations consist of small adjacent pads (11, 12) located on the same side of the median plane (8) of the nonwoven. Behind the cutting plane we see the profile of the pads located below the median plane (8). The height and width of these pads are between 0.1 and 3 mm.

The veil (14) is thermally bonded to the grid (13): thus the nonwoven does not contain any chemical binder and can therefore be used as a medical or surgical compress.

According to a preferred form of the invention, the synthetic grid (13) is a bi-stretched grid comprising in the machine direction (2) parallel polyamide filaments (15) regularly spaced by a distance of between 0.1 and 3 mm. and connected together by narrow polypropylene strips (16) regularly spaced by a distance between 0.1 and 3 mm and perpendicular to the filaments (15). The veil (14) of cellulosic fibers consists of a carding veil of cotton fibers.

In addition, this nonwoven has the advantage of being lighter than traditional gauze. The grid (13) has a grammage between 5 and 15 g / m 2 preferably 7 g / m 2 and the web of cellulosic fibers (14) a grammage between 10 and 20 g / m 2 , preferably 16 g / m 2 .

Sa densité apparente est inférieure à 0,15 - de préférence 0,1 - et sa capacité d'absorption est supérieure à 13 cm3/g - de préférence 16 cm3/g.Its apparent density is less than 0.15 - preferably 0.1 - and its absorption capacity is greater than 13 cm 3 / g - preferably 16 cm 3 / g.
