Abstract

Zum Verfestigen und Prägen von Faservliesen werden paar­ weise sich drehende Kalanderwalzen verwendet, zwischen denen das Faservlies geführt wird, wobei die Kalander­ walzen mit erhabenen diskreten Stellen versehen sind, die ein Oberflächenmuster bilden und das Prägemuster des Faser­ vlieses bestimmen. Für unterschiedliche Prägeflächen - je nach gewünschter Beschaffenheit und Steifigkeit des Fa­ servlieses - werden unterschiedliche Kalanderwalzen vor­ gesehen, wobei das Auswechseln der Kalanderwalzen einen erheblichen Aufwand darstellt.
Zur Vermeidung dieses Nachteils werden bei der Erfindung die Kalanderwalzen jeweils mit synchroner Drehzahl ange­ trieben, wobei die Möglichkeit geschaffen wird, die Dreh­ zahl der einen Kalanderwalze kurzzeitig zu verändern, so daß sich die Oberflächenmuster der beiden Kalanderwalzen relativ zueinander verschieben. Dadurch ergeben sich unter­ schiedliche Überdeckungsgrade zwischen einander gegenüber­ liegenden Paaren von erhabenen Stellen, so daß im laufen­ den Betrieb unterschiedliche Prägeflächen eingestellt werden können, ohne daß es erforderlich ist, die Kalan­ derwalzen auszuwechseln.
