Definitions
- the invention relates to an improved ski provided with a device intended to modify stiffness and / or damping, depending on the deformation of the ski.
- skiing is a beam having its inherent stiffness (R) which increases substantially linearly depending on the bending.
- R inherent stiffness
- f1 the free end cooperates with a stop system which opposes the displacement of the rod whose rigidity adds to that of skiing.
- f1 a bending value limit
- the ski comprises two stiffening elements attached to the basic body and which cooperate with each other from a given bending value of so as to increase the overall stiffness of the ski.
- the devices are shock absorbers which also operate on the principle that when the deformed ski increases, the response in terms of damping increases proportionally.
- document FR-A-2 654 635 relates to a device for mounting a boot on a ski comprising a front stop, a heel piece and a rigid connection orgy extended longitudinally between the front stop and the heel piece.
- the device includes also means for producing, in the absence of a shoe, a tension preload longitudinal say the connecting member. This device makes it possible to modify the camber at will of the ski skid area and therefore relieve the ends of the ski from the pressure exerted by the weight of the skier.
- the shoe has no direct effect on the device aiming to modify the pressure distribution on snow.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to propose a ski provided with a device for stiffening and / or damping whose effect acts inversely proportional to the flexion exerted on the ski so as to obtain a machine which has stability properties and / or flat damping and pivoting and nervousness properties during engagement tight curves.
- the ski according to the invention is characterized in that the resistance force of said means of resistance which opposes the movement of said free end decreases between a force of strong resistance obtained for a position of minimal displacement of the free end when the ski is slightly deformed in flexion, and a low resistance force obtained for a position of maximum displacement of the free end when the ski is strongly deformed in bending.
- the decrease in resistance force is expected between the minimum displacement position and the maximum displacement position is progressive.
- the elongated element is rigidly connected to the ski by its end opposite the free end so that the distance between the connecting means rigid as far as possible from the resistance means and increases the amplitude of displacement of the free end.
- the free end of the elongated element includes an increase in cross-section and cooperates with friction means belonging to the resistance means below said displacement value predetermined; said increase in section being, at least in part, cleared of said friction means from and beyond said displacement value so as to allow free sliding of the elongated element.
- the friction means consist of at least two friction pads made of a material with a high coefficient of friction; said means of resistance also comprising a pressure member which compresses the pads of friction against the surfaces of the free end.
- the free end of the elongated element comprises a increased section which cooperates with the first friction means of the resistance means, below said predetermined displacement value; then with second friction means, from and beyond said value of displacement ; the material chosen to constitute the second means of friction with a lower coefficient of friction than the chosen material to constitute the first means.
- the resistance means is a shock absorber liquid or gaseous fluid comprising a sealed chamber having a cavity internal, a piston connected to said free end and passing through said chamber.
- said piston moves in at least two parts of different cross sections; the first part of the section below said predetermined displacement value and a second part of upper section than the section of the first part from and beyond of said.
- the device comprises at less a means for longitudinal guiding in translation of the elongated element between the free end and the rigid connection means, to improve its resistance to buckling.
- the ski of the invention illustrated in FIG. 4 comprising the device consists of an elongated beam (1) having its own distribution of thickness, width and therefore its own stiffness. It includes a central part (10) also called mounting of the bindings (11, 12) intended to retain the boot on the ski.
- the end front (13) of the beam (1) is raised to form the spatula; while the end rear (14) is also to form the heel.
- the beam also includes a lower sliding surface (15) and an upper surface (16). Note that the contact of the lower surface (15) with the snow takes place between the front point contact (150) and the rear contact point (151) corresponding to each other where said lower surface begins to rise.
- FIG. 4 illustrates a first embodiment of the invention which comprises an attached stiffening or damping device (2) disposed at the front of the beam (1), on its upper surface (16).
- This device includes an element elongated consisting of a flexible blade (3) having a first fixed end (30) secured to the upper surface (16) by a rigid connection means (4); and an second free end (31) which cooperates with a resistance means (5) which opposes the relative movement of said free end (31) relative to the upper surface (16) of the ski when the ski is stressed in bending.
- the resistance means (5) comprises friction means constituted by two friction pads respectively upper (50) and lower (51) of material with a high coefficient of friction.
- the resistance means (5) also comprises a support and retaining stirrup (52).
- the friction surfaces of each shoe (50, 51) are separated from each other a certain distance (e) corresponding substantially to the thickness of the end free (31) of section (S1) over a first length (L1) and over a width (l1).
- the upper surface (310) and the lower surface (311) of said end free are in contact with the surface of the friction pads respectively upper (50) and lower (51) below a certain displacement value (d1) of the blade.
- the friction material may consist, for example, of a layer of thermoplastic rubber or viscoelastic material. So, a first layer is glued to the upper surface (16) of the ski and a second layer is glued under the central wall of the retaining clip which has the shape of an ⁇ (omega) and which is fixed by screws (520).
- the front end (31) of the blade can thus be move along F1 and F2 between the friction pads (50, 51). For there to be energy dissipation of the longitudinal movements according to F1 and F2, the stirrup maintains pressure and pinches the blade between the two layers.
- the intensity or the clamping force of the bending blade between the two layers of friction by the stirrup can be adjustable according to the amortization that we want to obtain.
- the longitudinal position of the resistance means (5) can be adjusted easily by the removable connection provided between the stirrup (52) and the upper surface skiing (16).
- Figures 5, 5a and 5b show the ski provided with the device in a second operating figuration; that is to say when a maximum displacement threshold of the free end is reached in the direction F1 depending on the stress exerted on the beam (1).
- the free section end (S1) is released from the friction pads (50, 51) and is engaged in a section cavity (53) in which the surfaces (310, 311) of the free end are no longer subject to friction.
- the blade further comprises a narrowing (32) of section (S2) which can slide freely between the pads (50, 51) without friction (e2 being less than e, in particular). In this configuration, the means of resistance no longer opposes a resistance force against the free end of the blade ; which makes skiing easier to drive.
- Figure 6 illustrates the shape of the curve showing the variation of the overall stiffness (R) of the ski as a function of the displacement (d) of the free end, itself proportional to the deformation of the ski.
- the blade includes an area of transition (320) between the free end (31) of strong section (S1) and the narrowing (3) adjacent of smaller section (S2); in which the reduction in cross section done gradually to facilitate the return in place of the blade when the ski returns to its original shape.
- FIG. 7 illustrates a variant of the previous mode.
- the blade also includes a free end (31) with increased section followed by a narrowing (32). Said free end (31) cooperates with a resistance means (5) which comprises, first of all a series of pads (50a, 51a) chosen from a material with a determined coefficient of friction and then a second series of skids (50b, 51b), adjacent to the first series, and chosen from a material having a coefficient of friction lower than the material of the first series.
- a resistance means (5) which comprises, first of all a series of pads (50a, 51a) chosen from a material with a determined coefficient of friction and then a second series of skids (50b, 51b), adjacent to the first series, and chosen from a material having a coefficient of friction lower than the material of the first series.
- FIGS. 8 to 10 illustrate another embodiment of the invention in which the friction type resistance means is replaced by a shock absorber with liquid or gaseous fluid.
- the shock absorber comprises, at least two separate operating modes in the case of FIGS. 8 and 9 and only one progressive evolution regime in the case of Figure 10.
- the damping device (2) comprises a blade (3) also having a fixed end (30) and a free end (31). Said free end engages in a sealed chamber (20) and ends with a piston (21).
- the room includes an internal cavity (22) being divided by the piston into two volumes (220, 221), variable depending on the displacement of the piston in said cavity.
- the piston (21) is crossed by one or more orifices (210) allowing the passage of the fluid from the first volume (220) into the second (221) and vice versa.
- the internal cavity (22) has at least two parts; the first part of narrowed cross section (S1) followed by a second section portion increased transverse (S2).
- the piston moves in the first part of cross section (S1) corresponding, substantially to that piston.
- the fluid passes from the second volume (221) to the first volume (220) through the provided through holes (210).
- a real effect damping is created which means that the more precipitous and sudden the displacement, the more the mixture of gas and liquid has a damping effect on the piston due to inertia, when it passes through the orifices.
- one or more means of guide (6) located between said resistance means and the fixed end (30). This way is all the more effective as the ski must undergo strong flexions in certain terrain conditions or for certain disciplines.
- the rigid connection means (4) allowing the blade to be joined to the ski, in all the cases described above, can be a removable means of the screwing, riveting or other type, or even an irremovable means such as gluing or vibration welding, for example.
- the elongate member (2) can take any desired shape. It can be a blade flexible in the form of an elongated flat plate or on the contrary of a profile having one or more longitudinal ribs to increase its resistance to buckling. It can be made by injection in charged plastic material. In the use of high modulus materials such as steel or carbon, the blade can be replaced by a simple cylindrical or rectangular ring of low section, so as not to exceed excessively large compression values.
- the device can be placed on the ski at any place, other than on the front.
- the blade (2) can also serve as a platform to support fasteners as illustrated in figure 11.
- the blade (2) must have a sufficient width to receive the fasteners (11, 12) which are integral with it directly to allow normal operation of the device.
