The connector module enable electrical energy and/or information signals to be transmitted between the surface (16) of an operating table on which the patient lies and a support unit (10) releasably connected to that surface (16). The module includes a module part (42) on the table side and a module part (44) on the support side. A first group of transmission elements (88, 98) is provided in one of the module parts (42, 44) to transmit electrical energy and/or information signals. A second and third group of complementary transmission elements (60, 72) are arranged in the other module part (44, 42) such that when the table surface (16) is connected to the support (10) with the surface ina first position relative to the support (10), the transmission elements (88, 98) of the first group cooperate with those of the second group (60, 72). When the table surface (16) is connected in a second position relative to the support (10), the second position being rotated about the main axis relative to the first, the transmission elements (88, 98) of the first group cooperate with those of the third group. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a connection module for transmitting electrical energy and / or information signals between a patient support surface of an operating table and a support device which can be detachably connected to the support surface, comprising a module part on the support device side and a module part on the storage surface side.

The patient support surface of an operating table consists of different sections that are adjustable relative to each other. The adjustment is carried out with the help of motors which can be arranged in the spars of the bearing surface. The patient support surface can be lifted off the support device of the operating table and can be placed on a transport trolley, for example. In this situation, too, it should be possible to adjust the sections of the bearing surface. Thus, for example, a patient outside the operating room are already prepared for the operation and brought into a position required for the operation. The adjustment of the sections of the bearing plate requires the supply of energy to the actuators of the bearing surface and the exchange of information signals between control electronics within the bearing surface and the support device. It should be possible to arrange the bearing surface on the support device, for example in two positions offset by 180 ° relative to one another. In principle, such a connection can be established using cables and connectors. Plug connections and cables are cumbersome to use and difficult to clean.

The invention has for its object to provide a connection module of the type mentioned, which enables the establishment of a connection for the transmission of electrical energy and / or information signals in a simple and convenient manner for different positions of the patient support surface relative to the support device.

This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.

By combining the transmission elements according to the invention, the patient support surface can be connected to the support device at least in two different positions, for example in two positions offset by 180 °, and at the same time a connection can be established for energy and signal transmission with stationary transmission elements. For example, the transmission elements for the transmission of electrical energy can be formed by metallic contact elements which come into contact with one another when the patient support surface is placed on the support device. Furthermore, the transmission elements for the information signals can be designed for non-contact transmission, for example by the information signals in the form of electromagnetic radiation transfer. For example, infrared transmitters can be arranged in one module part and corresponding infrared receivers can be arranged in the other module part. However, optocouplers that operate in the visible region of the spectrum can also be used. Such transmission elements for the transmission of information signals can be arranged behind a material which is transparent to the respective radiation and which has a completely smooth surface and is easy to clean. The metallic contact elements for transmitting the electrical drive energy for the servomotors can also be embedded in this material within the patient support surface. It may be expedient to make the contact elements movable in one module part and to pretension them in the direction of the fixed contact elements arranged in the other module part, so that reliable contact is ensured when the two module parts come together.

The first group of transmission elements is preferably arranged in the patient support surface, while the second and third group of transmission elements is provided in the support device. This can be formed both by the support column of an operating table and by a transport trolley for the patient support surface.

In Figure 1, 10 denotes the support column of an operating table, which rests on a column base 12 and has a head plate 14. Connected to the head plate 14 is a patient support surface, generally designated 16, from which the support pads have been removed. The patient support surface 16 comprises a central part, generally designated 18, with a rectangular base plate 20. This is connected on two opposite sides of the rectangle with a pawl 22 (only one of which can be seen in FIG. 1), which in corresponding receptacles 24 on the head plate 14 of the support column 10 engage when the patient support surface 16 is anchored on the support column 10.

An H-shaped frame part 26 is arranged on the base plate 20, which can be adjusted in the direction of the double arrow A in FIG. 1 relative to the base plate 20 and consists of two side rails 28 and a central web 30 connecting them. At the ends of the side members 28, the side members 32 of further bearing surface sections are articulated so that they can be adjusted about horizontal transverse axes 34. The adjustment is carried out with the aid of motors 36, which in the present case are designed as electric motors. A control unit, not shown, is arranged within the base plate 20. The transmission of the electrical drive energy to the electric motors 36 and the transmission of information signals between the electric motors 36 and possibly position detectors within the bearing surface sections and the control unit arranged in the base plate 20 takes place via a cable 38 which connects the base plate 20 to the crosspiece 30.

The connection module according to the invention is used to transmit electrical energy and / or information signals between the base plate 20 of the central section 26 of the bearing surface 16 and the head part 14 of the support column 10. This connection module will now be explained with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3.

The connecting module, generally designated by 40, comprises a module part 42 arranged in the column head 14 and a module part 44 arranged in the base plate 20 of the bearing surface part 26. The column-side module part 42 has the shape of a rectangular plate rounded at the corners with a central section 46 which fits into one complementary opening 48 is inserted in the cover plate 50 of the column head 14, and with a flange 52 surrounding this central section 46, which is screwed to the cover plate 50 with screws 54. In the side of the flange 52 facing the plate 50, a groove 56 is formed which surrounds the central section 46 and into which an annular seal 58 is inserted. The height of the central section relative to the flange 52 is selected such that the surface of the central section 46 is flush with the upper side of the plate 50 when the column-side module part 42 is mounted on the plate 50.

In the module part 42 on the column side, three metallic contact elements 60 are arranged along the central longitudinal axis thereof at uniform intervals, each having a shaft and a head, as shown in FIG. 3, a sealing ring 62 surrounding the shaft being arranged below the head. The shafts of the contact elements 60 are each connected to a plug 66 via lines 64.

Below the plate 46, 52, a circuit board 68 is fastened on stud bolts 70, each of which carries four infrared transmitting / receiving elements 72 in two rows. These transmitting / receiving elements (infrared diodes) engage in recesses 74 in the plate 46, 52, which consists of a material transparent to the infrared radiation. These diodes are connected via a cable 76 to a control device, not shown. While the three contact elements 60 for the transmission of electrical energy for the drive motors 36 in the storage area 16, information signals are sent and received via the infrared diodes 72. The contact elements 60 and the infrared diodes 72 are connected such that the four diodes 72 on the left in FIG. 2 and the two left contact elements 60 on the one hand and the four diodes on the right in FIG. 2 and the two right contact elements 60 on the other hand each have two completely identical groups form transmission elements for the transmission of electrical drive energy (contact elements 60) and information signals (infrared diodes 72). The above description also shows that the surface of the column-side contact module 42 is completely tight and smooth, so that this surface can also be washed off with liquid cleaning agents and has no angles or depressions in which dirt could be deposited.

The module part 44 on the bearing surface is in principle constructed in exactly the same way as the column-side module part 42, but contains fewer transmission elements and is therefore also smaller. It consists of a plate with a central section 78 and a flange 80 surrounding the latter, which is screwed to a base plate 84 of the base part 20 with screws 82, the connection in turn being sealed by a sealing ring 86. In contrast to the two contact elements 60 on the right in FIG. 2, two movable contact elements 88 are mounted in the central section 78. Each movable contact element 88 is guided in a bore 90 and is biased by an annular spring 92 in the manner shown in the direction of the respective fixed contact element 60 of the module part 42. The outlet opening of the bore 90 is closed in a liquid-tight manner by a sealing collar 94. The contact elements 88 are connected via lines 96 to a control device or a distributor for the electrical drive energy, not shown.

In the module part 44 on the bearing surface, four infrared diodes 98 are further arranged so that they are exactly opposite the group of four of infrared diodes 72 located on the right in FIG. They are arranged on a circuit board 100 which is connected to the control device. The plate of the module part 44 on the bearing surface is also inserted into the base plate 84 of the base part 20 such that the underside of the base plate 84 is completely flat. Only the tips of the movable contact elements can emerge from this base plate.

As can be seen, the two module parts 42 and 44 are designed and arranged such that the two module parts 42 and 44 can be connected to one another in two positions offset by 180 °. In the position shown in FIG. 3, the movable contact elements 88 and the four infrared diodes 98 of the module part on the bearing surface (first group of transmission elements) act with the two contact elements 60 on the right in FIG. 2 and the right group of four of infrared diodes 72 (second group of transmission elements) together. If the bearing surface 16 is rotated 180 ° relative to the support column 10 and thus also the bearing surface-side module part 44 relative to the column-side module part 42, then the first group of transmission elements acts with the left two contact elements 60 shown in FIG. 2 or the left group of four of infrared diodes 72 (third group of transmission elements) together.

The above description shows that the connection module according to the invention enables a connection for the transmission of electrical drive energy and information signals between the support column and the patient support surface in two different positions of the support surface relative to the support column, the transmission surface-side transmission elements and the column-side transmission elements when the bearing surface is placed on the Support column in transmission connection and with both module parts like this are built into the support column or the bearing surface so that their surfaces can be cleaned without problems and offer no possibility for dirt to settle. The column-side module part can also be provided on a transport trolley for transporting the patient support area in order to supply the patient support area outside of the operating room with the energy and control information required for adjusting the motors.
