The coaxial cable signal conductor (11) is electrically connected to one or more signal contacts (3).

Description

The invention relates to a connector for coaxial cables with two one inside the other pluggable multi-pin connectors, the contacting of the outer screen braid and that of the signal conductor via pin-socket contact elements he follows.

Known connectors of this type are used in the high frequency range or high data rates are rarely used because of their electrical properties the "pigtail" assembly commonly used there the cable shield of the coaxial cable is very poor and not very reproducible are.

The invention has for its object a connector of the beginning mentioned type to the extent that these with regard to electrical properties and their reproducibility significantly improved becomes.

This object is achieved in that the electrical connection of the / Cable shields of the coaxial cable (s) with the corresponding shield or Ground contacts via electrically conductive connectors that with assembled connectors by pressing on the cable shield Contacting with the connectors takes place that the connectors in the assembled state, an electrical connection to those in the insulating body have shield or ground contacts, and that the signal conductor the coaxial cable electrical connection to one or more Have signal contacts.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are in claims 2 to 7 specified.

The advantage achieved by the invention consists in the fact that the low-inductance construction of the connecting piece (large-area forwarding of the shield) the electrical parameters of the connector (such as wave impedance) matched to that of the cable used can be. This can minimize signal reflections and attenuation will.

Another advantage is the EMC-compliant construction of the connector. Due to the almost closed structure there is radiation largely avoided, interference radiation coming from outside effectively suppressed. This also applies to crosstalk within the Connector.

The fact that the mechanically stable and production-technically well reproducible connection of coaxial cables and the pseudocoaxial connector considered here the electrical properties are also reproducible.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is explained in more detail below:

Massekontakten 2, Signalkontakten 3, leitfähigen Verbindungsstücken 4 sowie einem Gehäuse 12.The connector shown in Fig. 1 to Fig. 4 consists essentially of an insulating body part 1, shield or ground contacts 2, signal contacts 3, conductive connecting pieces 4 and a housing 12.

The insulating body part 1 shown in Fig. 2 has both for each of the Shield or ground contacts 2 as well as one for each of the signal contacts 3 Chamber in which they are mounted electrically insulated. As shown in Fig. 1 the shield or ground contacts 2 are each one signal contact 3 positioned. The connectors 4 have semicircular recesses 5, which in the assembled state by a non-positive connection with the outer insulation of the coaxial cable 7 a strain relief of the electrical Allow connection. To generate the necessary Force screw 8 is used to mount in the connectors 4 is screwed in.

The connectors 4 shown in Fig. 2 also have semicircular Recesses 6, which in the assembled state by pressure on the Shield braid 9 of the two coaxial cables 7 has a large electrical area Connection between the screen braid 9 and the connecting pieces 4th produce. The metallic tubes 10 prevent unwanted Deformation of the dielectrics of the two coaxial cables 7 as a result of the applied Pressure. The inside diameter of the tubes corresponds to this the outer diameter of the coaxial cable used 7. For assembly after plugging the tubes 10, the cable shields 9 over the Tubes 10 placed.

Is on the side facing the shield or ground contacts 2 on the connecting pieces 4, a groove 13, which is used to position the Shield or ground contacts 2 during the manufacture of the necessary Solder connections between the shield or ground contacts 2 and electrically conductive connectors 4 is used. The electrical connection between the signal conductors 11 of the two coaxial cables 7 and the corresponding ones Signal contacts 3 are made by soldering.

Fig. 3 zeigt den Steckverbinder im teilmontierten Zustand. The radius of the semicircular recesses 5 of the connecting pieces 4 are dimensioned so that a deformation of the dielectrics of the two coaxial cables 7 is avoided. For complete assembly, the housing 12 is over the from the connectors 4, the shield or ground contacts 2, the Signal contacts 3, the insulating body 1 and the two coaxial cables 7 existing Assembly pushed. The housing 12 is preferably made made of a conductive material. Due to the large electrical contact between the inside of the housing 12 and the outer surface the also electrically conductive connecting pieces 4 takes place in the assembled Condition an additional forwarding of the outer cable shields 9.

A modified exemplary embodiment is shown in FIG. 4. More essential Difference from the embodiment described above are those in FIG conductive connectors 4 integrated shield or ground contacts 2. This means that separate contacting is not necessary. The conductive In this exemplary embodiment, connecting pieces 4 each consist of a stamped and bent sheet. A tab 14 causes by the exerted pressure on the coaxial cable 7 a strain relief of the electrical Connection.
