Description

The invention relates to a multi-pin shielded cable connector with one made of two conductive or conductive Share existing connector housing that connects to two each other opposite sides is formed with inclined surfaces and which contains several contact housings made of insulating material, which have a large number of wires connected to the cable, connectable with contact elements of a mating connector Have plug contacts.

Figure 00010001
In many areas, for example in telecommunications technology, cabling is increasingly being carried out on the front of a device instead of on the back. In addition, more and more signal lines are required on the front that are operated at high bit rates. An electromagnetically shielded design of cable plugs is therefore necessary, that is to say at least one shielding of the cable plug and the contacts contained in it, but often also a shielding of contacts or signal branches from one another. In addition, according to the European telecommunications standard ETS 300 119-3, there is only a very limited space available for front cabling. For example, for a device
Figure 00010001
600 x 600 "an installation space including device or module front plate of 75 mm approved for devices 600 x 300 ", the space provided for front wiring is only 40 mm including the front panel.

So far, coaxial connectors have been used for front cabling, SUB-D connector and metric connector used. This However, plugs generally do not offer the possibility of large amounts of signal lines with shielded design and tight installation conditions on the front of a device or to connect an assembly.

A cable connector of the type mentioned is from the EP 0 421 373 A1 is known. This cable connector has a two-part conductive connector housing, the at least two Has contact housing with a variety of plug contacts. The plug contacts are connected to the wires of a cable and as in contact elements of a mating connector insertable contact pins. On the mating side the connector housing is designed with two side tabs, that protrude perpendicular to the direction of insertion, against each other are offset and provided with a through hole. The connector housing has on the side facing away from the plug side two opposite and inclined Sloping surfaces, between which there is a mating side parallel, flat rear end of the connector housing is located, at which the cable entry in the direction of insertion Cable connector takes place, that is, the cable is in the direction of insertion running centrally connected to the connector housing. Of the known cable connector is therefore in a straight version with relative high side walls and therefore less for Front cabling is suitable under tight installation conditions.

The invention is primarily based on the object multi-pin shielded cable connector in one for front wiring suitable under tight installation conditions to train.

This task is performed with a cable connector of the type mentioned Art solved according to the invention in that the two opposite sides of the housing essentially of the two inclined surfaces arranged like a roof are formed and a connecting piece from an inclined surface protrudes that the cable with one end at which the Cable shield is freed from the cable sheath, as far as in the connecting piece is introduced that a portion of the exposed Cable shield protrudes from the connector and that for mechanical and electrical connection of the cable end or the cable shield with the connector on the Inside made with electrically conductive adhesive Shrink tube piece provided and arranged in this way on the cable is that it has the end sections Connection piece or the cable jacket and with a medium Section includes the exposed cable shield.

With such a cable connector is roof-like mutually arranged inclined surfaces and by the at one Angled surface provided cable connection Design achieved with a low height of the connector housing. Since the cable connection without rigid connecting elements, such as screw connections, crimp sleeves, cable clamps or the like only by means of a special piece of shrink tubing is also realized in the narrower area of the cable connection requires little installation height. A cable can therefore be angled closely, that is, closely with an allowable Radius to or away from the connection will. Because of the essentially of the roof-like Inclined surfaces formed sides of a connector housing this tight cable routing even with nearby cable connectors possible because the opposite of the respective cable connection Inclined surface of a connector housing is free and therefore the tight cable routing of a nearby cable connector not disabled. Through that for the cable connection used piece of shrink tubing is also simple also a good cable strain relief and at the same time one electrical connection between the cable shield and the connector housing reached. This represents a particularly inexpensive one Cable connection for shielded cable plugs.

The connector housing is expediently on two opposite one another Sides with lateral, perpendicular to the direction of insertion protruding and offset tabs trained with a through hole for a Screw to screw the cable connector to an im Area of the mating connector provided fastener are provided. Such an arrangement of mounting tabs enables screw fastening of special closely adjacent cable connectors.

With regard to the electromagnetic shielding of the cable connector it is advantageous if the connector housing on a on a pad, e.g. B. on an assembly or device front panel adjacent side with one on the mating connector clip-on frame-like molding for the Plug contacts is formed. That is how they are Plug contacts of the cable plug in the area of the connection with reliably shielded the mating connector.

It can also be used in cases where a contact housing or Several contact housings of the cable connector with plug contacts are equipped, which form different signal branches, advantageous be when the frame-like inguinal body at two each other opposite side faces each with one in Recess extending direction, open towards the mating side is provided. In this case, for example assembly formed on both sides into the recesses of the frame-like strip body between the plug contacts different signal branches and these plug contacts then shield each other.

Further advantageous embodiments of the subject matter of the claim 1 are specified in the remaining subclaims.

The cable connector 1 comprises a connector housing 2, which consists of two conductive or conductive parts, for example made of metal or metallized plastic. The two parts of the connector housing 2 can be formed by half shells or - as in the embodiment in FIG. The connector housing 2 contains a plurality of contact housings 5 (FIGS. 2, 3), which consist of insulating material and, for example, in the embodiment in FIGS. 2 and 3 are formed by individual lamella modules stacked one on top of the other in the connector housing. The contact housings 5 have a large number of pre-fitted plug contacts 6, which are connected on the one hand in lamellae to the wires 7 of a cable 8 and on the other hand form contact elements, for example knife-shaped or pin-shaped or socket-shaped contact elements, which form complementary contact elements of a mating connector 9, for example a female connector, can be inserted. In the embodiment in FIG. 1, the plug housing 2 essentially comprises two regions, namely a housing region 10 on the connection side for connecting the cable 8 and receiving the contact housing 5 and a housing region 11 on the plug side, likewise for receiving the contact housing 5 and the plug contacts 6 and for the plug connection with a mating connector. The connection-side housing area 10 consists of a body which is essentially formed by two roof-like inclined surfaces 12 and 13, which start from short, here parallel side surfaces 14 and 15, and two flat sides adapted to the body shape. In this case, the flat side of the plug housing 2 facing the viewer of FIG. 1 can be formed by the cover 4, for example screwed to the base body. One of the two inclined surfaces of the connection-side housing area 10, here the inclined surface 12, is formed with a socket-shaped connecting piece 16, which projects here at a right angle from this inclined surface and approximately in the middle or in Roof ridge area "of the connection-side housing area 10 is arranged. The connection piece 16 serves for the introduction and connection of a multi-core cable 8, which is free from the cable sheath 17 at its end to be connected. The cable end is inserted into the connection piece 16 so far that a Part of the exposed cable shield 18 protrudes from the connector 16. For the mechanical and electrical connection of the cable end or the cable shield 18 to the connector 16 of the connector housing 2, the only connecting element provided is a piece of shrink tubing 19 which is formed on the inside with electrically conductive adhesive. The shrink tube piece 19 is arranged at the cable end in such a way that it comprises the cable sheath 17 or the connecting piece 16 with its end sections 20, 21 and the exposed cable shield 18 with a central section 22, with under heat a constriction 23 is formed in the middle section 22 due to the shrunk-on shrink tube piece 19 shrunk onto the cable end. As FIG. 2 clearly shows, the inner diameter of the connecting piece 16 is expediently adapted to the cable diameter in the region of the exposed cable shield 18 with a view to a reliable cable connection.

Furthermore, the connector housing 2 of the cable connector 1 is on one on a base 24 adjacent bottom 25 of the connection side Housing area 10 with one on the mating connector 9 clip-on frame-like strip body 26 for the Plug contacts 6 formed. This last body 26 is at the illustrated embodiment on two opposite Side surfaces 27, 28 each with one in the direction of insertion running, open to the mating side recess 29 or 30 provided. The aligned with each other Recesses 29, 30 are thus exactly in the amount of one Space between two parallel rows 31 and 32 is formed by plug contacts 6, here two form signal branches to be shielded from one another. Aligned to the recesses 29, 30 are here - such as in particular Figure 3 shows - the contact housing 5 also on the plug side provided with a recess 33 so that in the recesses 29, 30 of the last body 26 and in the recess 33 of the Contact housing 5 an assembly coated on both sides 34 to shield the two signal branches from one another can be introduced. In the illustrated embodiment 3 is on each side of the assembly 34th each a mating connector 9, for example a female connector, for example, in SMD technology, where the Mating connector 9 a multi-pin, shielded connector Form with a cable connector 1. With one like in figure 3 arrangement is shown by the high polarity small grid spacings (up to 1 mm) achieved, if necessary Intermediate contacts can be connected to ground on the shield. In this case, for example, every second column of plug contacts 6 no signal branch, but it is on Ground, the corresponding contact elements of the Mating connector are then also ground contacts.

To attach a cable connector 1 to the base, for Example on the front plate 24 of the assembly 34 is the connection side Housing area 10 of the connector housing 2 at its opposite short side surfaces 14 and 15 formed with side tabs 35 which are perpendicular to Stick out and staggered are and also each with a through hole 36 for a screw 37 are provided, which for screw fastening of the cable connector 1 in the area of the mating connector 9 provided fasteners 38 serve. These fasteners 38 consist for example of a sleeve with Internal thread, a nut or a sheet metal bracket with threaded nozzle, being for attaching a cable connector each two fastening elements 38 on both sides of a mating connector 9 are mounted on the assembly 34. In this way can be closely adjacent to connector housings of cable plugs the between the tabs 35 and the fasteners 38th lying front plate 24 can be contacted. The in Figure 2 The connector shown can be advantageous Formation of the connector housing of the cable connector and the cable connections in narrow installation conditions with a height H of only about 40 mm including front plate 24.
