Abstract

A closure device for a window leaf, said device being of the type that can slide along a channel (2) of an abutment post (1) of a leaf, comprising a slider which is connected to at least two sliding blocks (4) which can slide in said channel (2) through means (7, 8) which are suitable to adjust the distance between said slider (6) and said sliding blocks (4) and a plate (10) for supporting a bolt (11), said plate being connected to said slider by means (13, 14) which are adapted to adjust the position of said plate on said slider at right angles to the plane of said leaf.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a closure device for window leaves.
  • It is known that in several models of windows, particularly made of aluminum, operators in the field feel the need to have leaf closure devices which have the characteristic that they can be fitted on the leaves when the leaves are already installed in their final working seat. Moreover, owing to the considerable variety of windows currently commercially available, the closure devices must also be provided with adjustment mechanisms in order to allow the engagement of the bolts in the respective selvages that are provided in the frame of the window.
  • The aim of the present invention is to meet the above-cited requirements of operators assigned to casement installation work that are noted with many of the conventional devices, i.e., to provide a closure device for window leaves which can be adapted to many of the currently commercially available profiled elements, be safe in use and effective in operation.
  • Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a structure which is simple, relatively easy to provide in practice, and relatively low in cost.
  • These and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by the present closure device for a window leaf, said device being of the type that can slide along a channel of an abutment post of said leaf, characterized in that it comprises a slider which is connected to at least two sliding blocks which can slide in said channel through means which are adapted to adjust the distance between said slider and said sliding blocks and a bolt supporting plate which is connected to said slider by means which are adapted to adjust the position of said plate on said slider at right angles to the plane of said leaf.
  • Further characteristics and advantages will become better apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a closure device for window leaves according to the present invention, illustrated only by way of non-limitative example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
  • Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of the device;
  • Figure 2 is a top view of the device;
  • Figure 3 is a sectional side view, taken along the plane III-III of Figure 2;
  • Figure 4 is a sectional front view, taken along the plane IV-IV;
  • Figure 5 is a sectional front view, taken along the plane V-V.
  • With reference to the above figures, the reference numeral 1 generally designates an abutment post of a leaf on which the closure device according to the present invention is mounted.
  • The device is of the type that can slide along a channel 2 of the post 1. The channel 2 has two lateral retention undercuts 3, and two sliding blocks 4 slide therein; the sliding blocks are provided with lateral wings 5 which are adapted to engage the undercuts 3. The sliding blocks 4 are inserted in two transverse grooves 7 of the slider 6 and are connected to the slider 6 by screws 8 which, as will become apparent hereinafter, allow to adjust the distance between the sliding blocks 4 and the slider 6.
  • The slider 6 has, at each groove 7, two protrusions 9 in which flared regions 9a for accommodating the head of the screws 8 are provided. A plate 10 is coupled to the slider 6, and a pivot 11 is rigidly coupled to one end of the plate and constitutes the bolt of the device.
  • The coupling between the slider 6 and the plate 10 is achieved by the engagement of the protrusions 9 in transverse recesses 12 of the plate 10, so as to provide adjustment means which lie transversely to the direction of the sliding of the slider 6 in the channel 2 of the leaf. The plate 10 is fixed to the slider 6 by means of screws 13 which pass through a first pair of transverse slots 14 of the plate 10 and engage corresponding threaded holes 15 of the slider 6. The slots 14 are parallel to the recesses 12 and to an additional pair of transverse slots 16 formed in the bottom of the recesses 12.
  • The slots 16 allow the access of a suitable tool (screwdriver) to the screws 8 for connecting the sliding blocks 4 to the slider 6, but do not allow the passage of the head of the screws 8, which accordingly remain retained between the slider 6 and the plate 10. Moreover, in the plate 10 an additional slot 17 is provided which lies between the two slots 14 and has a lateral opening 18 so as to allow the passage of a pivot (not shown) which protrudes from the post of the second leaf of the window and which, in the position in which the leaves are closed, engages the slot 17 when the slider 6 and the plate 10 are actuated so as to slide in the channel 2.
  • Finally, a tang 19 is fixed on the slider 6 and is rigidly coupled to an end which lies opposite the one adjacent to the bolt 11; the tang is adapted to engage in a corresponding hole 20 of an actuation rod 21 which is connected to the handle for opening and closing the leaf.
  • The assembly and the operation of the above-described device are fully evident from the above description.
  • In particular, the adjustment of the bolt 11 in the X direction with respect to the post 1, i.e., on the plane of the leaf, is provided by acting on the screws 8 with the screwdriver inserted through the slots 16 of the plate 10. The axial offset of the bolt 11 in the Y direction is controlled by loosening the screws 13 and moving the plate 10 parallel to itself by means of the sliding coupling of the protrusions 9 in the recesses 12. The subsequent tightening of the screws 13, in addition to fixing the plates 10 to the slider 6, locks the heads of the screws 8, ensuring the positioning of the slider 6 in the X direction. It should be observed that when the first leaf, which supports the bolt 1, closes onto the second leaf, the bolt 11 engages in the corresponding selvage 22 provided in the window frame and at the same time the open slot 17 and the corresponding pivot rigidly coupled to said second leaf of the window couple to each other.
