To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FLORENCE BpLToN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Berkeley, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Womens Outing Suits, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates toimprovements in womens suits, and has for its object to provide a complete suit, made in one piece, adapted for various forms of outdoor activity, which will permit'complete freedom of movement of the body and limbs, which, by reducing the number of garments usually worn, will avoid the heat, weight, and general discomfort heretofore occasioned by such garments, and the time and trouble necessitated in putting them on and off, and will also avoid constriction and fullness of the clothing about the waist and hips.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a front view of the garment, as used for ordinary walking; Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same; Fig. 3 is a front view as used for riding astride, or when greater freedom of movement of the legs is required; Fig. 4 is a front View of the garment in its open or unfastened condition. My improved suit may be made in two forms, either complete in one piece from the neck, or sleeveless and low cut, to be worn with a separate guimpe or shirt. In both cases it is cut to hang from the shoulders,.

and is half fitting, and beltless, or has merely a simulated belt. Since the difference in the two forms is immaterial to the invention, I shall show only the latter form thereof.

They are attached at their edges to the respective side pieces and complete the suit by covering the upper portion of the body above the waist line both at the front and The lower portions of thesepanels cover the bifurcations at the front and rear, when desired. Both panels 7, 8-, are perma nently secured to the remainder of the garwent along one edge only for the greater ,part of the length of said edge, the lower portion of said edge, however, bein free, and the other edge being detachab y secured as hereinafter described. Each side of each panel, from the waist line down is formed with an extra plait 9,. which, as shown at 11, is stitched down near the outer edge to within a short distance above the knee, but is left open or unstitched in the lower portion, as shown at 12, in order to give greater freedom of movement to the limbs.

The garment is detachably closed or has tened at the front by hooking a series of hooks 13 to a corresponding series of eyes hooks 17 upon the adjacent edge of the front gore or panel 7. When it is desired to use the garment closed either at the front or rear lower portion or both then the lower portion of the corresponding gore is also secured to the lower portions of the garment by means of hooks 18 on the edge of said gore which engage eyes 19 on the outer side of the marginal portion of the corresponding crotch piece. When complete freedom of movement of the legs isdesired, the hooks 18 are disengaged from the eyes 19," as shown in Fig. 3. 7

I claim 1. In a womans one-piece outing suit, the

2, In a womans one-piece outing suit, the combination of front and rear crotch pieces connected together at their inner edges and suitably shaped to cover only the inner sides of the legs and the front and rear portions of the body below the waist line, side pieces, each shaped to cover only the sides of the body above and below the waist and the outer sides of the legs, said side pieces, below the waist, being connected with the crotch pieces to form a bifurcated skirt, but said connection of an upper portion of a crotch piece being on one side detachable, a front panel the edges of which are connected to the front edges of the side pieces above witnesses.

3. In a womans one-piece suit, the c0m bination of an outer portion made of a single thickness of cloth, and of a shape to surround the trunk and the legs of the wearer, and a crotch portion of a shape to cover only the inner sides of the legs and the front and rear of the trunk below the waist line, and connected along its upwardly extending edges to the'outer portion, the lower part of said outer portion being separable edges both at front and rear to permit the garment to be used as a bifurcated skirt, and coengaging fastening devices on said separable edges for uniting them to form an ordinary skirt.
