SUPPORTING-BRACKET FOR DISPENSING-BOTTLES.
To all Atf/0721, Ait may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN C. WCGAIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tacoma, in the county of Pierce and State ot lVashington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supporting-Brackets for Dispensing-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in supports for bottles dispensing liquid soap and other like material, the invention consisting in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of my invention is to provide an improved bracket for supporting a dispensing bottle and which may be attached to a wall or any like vertical supporting sur face.
In the accompanying drawing; Figure I is a vertical central sectional view of a bottle provided with my improved supporting bracket. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view on the plane indicated by the line a-a of Fig. l, Figs. 3 and 4 and 5 are detail views.
For the purposes of this specification I show a dispensing bottle l provided with a stopper 2 having a valve 7 and held in place by a wire base 12 which also forms a guide for the valve.
In order to support the bottle,I provide a bracket 16 which comprises a base 17 that is adapted to be screwed against a wall or support and a tubular arm 1S which projects outwardly from the base.V This arm is eX- teriorly screw-threaded, is provided at its outer end with a central transverse slot 19, is flattened on opposite sides as at 20- and is provided with slots or notches 21 in opposite sides at the inner ends of the said flattened portions 20.
In connection with the supporting bracket, I provide a spring clamping collar which is open on one side and is provided with arms 23 to bear against the flattened sides 20 of the arm of the bracket, the said arms 23 terminating in inwardly extending flanges 24 which are adapted to engage the notches 21. The central, substantially circular portion of the clamping collar is adapted to engage around the neck of the bottle and to press the arms 13 of the locking bail against the neck of the bottle so as to irmly secure the locking bail and, hence, cause the latter to firmly hold the stopper in the mouth of the Patented Mar. 24, 1914. serial No. 758,859.
bottle. A cylindrical nut or sleeve 25 has threaded engagement with the tubular arm oi the bracket and when the arms of the clamping collar are engaged with the flattened sides 20 of said tubular arm, the said nut is turned outwardly and caused to engage the outer sides of the said arms so as to lock `the clamping collar in place on the outer end of the tubular arm. I also provide a jam or nut lock or sleeve 26 which has threaded engagement with the tubular arm of the bracket and which when engaged with the nut or sleeve 25 locks the latter in place and prevents it from being casually turned. To assist in securing the neck of the bottle or vessel in the bight or circular portion of the clamping collar, I provide a brace arm 27 which is arranged in the bore of the tubular bracket arm, has a widened head 2S to engage in the vertical transverse slot 19 and oppositely bent arms 29 which project outwardly from the head and bear against one side of the neck of the bottle, thereby coacting with the clamping collar in iirmly yet detachably securing the bottle to the bracket or support.
It will be understood that by means of the bracket or support, the bottle with its dispensing mechanism may be readily secured above the stationary wash stand or any other desired place for use.
Prior to the application of the bottle to the supporting bracket with its clamping collar 22, I provide a suitable band which will be fastened around the neck of the bottle to hold the arms 13 of the locking bail in place against opposite sides of the neck.
lVhile I have herein shown and described a preferred form of my invention, I would have it understood that changes may be made in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts without departing from the spirit of my invention and within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim z- 1. A support for a bottle or other like vessel comprising a base having a threaded tubular arm provided with recesses in opposite sides at its outer end and with slots at the inner ends of said recesses, an open clamping ring arranged to be placed around the neck of a bottle and having arms to engage the recesses of the supporting arm and provided with flanges to enter the slots of said supporting arm, and a securing sleeve screwed on the said supporting arm and arranged to engage the arms of the clamping collar and lock the latter in place.
2. A support for a bottle or other like vessel comprising a hase having a tubular threaded arm, said tubular arm being provided With a transverse slot in its outer end, having recesses on opposite sides at its outer end and slots at the inner ends of such recesses, a brace arm arranged in the said tubular arm, having a headengaging the transverse slot thereof and provided With oppositely bent arms projecting from the outer end of said tubular arm, a clamping collar arranged to be placed around the neck of the bottle and having arms to engage the recesses of the tubular arm, and provided With flanges to enter the slots thereof, and a sleeve threaded on the tubular arm of the support and arranged to be engaged with the outer sides of the arms of said clamping collar to lock the latter, the brace arm and the bottle in place,
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
