Be it known thatI, .WILLIAM KEAN, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of llli11ois,have invented anew and improved Coupling for Shafts;` and I dol hereby-declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptionthereof', which will enable others skilled in thevart to make and' use the same, reference being had to the`.accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a longitudinal section of i'ny improved coupling.

One end of the'kcy abuts against the square end oi' the groove in the shaft A. The other end, however, is arrested by a dovetaled clutch or block, E, put into a corresponding' aperture or recess at onc end of the, sleeve D, and retain d therein by means of a screw, a. rlhs clutch or lock is applied after the key and sleeve have been properly put on. By this means the ends of the key are bot-h properly covered and prevented from catching, and the key is, furthermore, secured iu placeaud cannot work out.
