VOLTAIC BODY-BATTERY.
Application filed August 4, 1913.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, AUSTIN A. PRATT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Voltaic Body-Battery, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to improvements in a voltaic body battery, one object of the invention being the provision of a compact battery of this character, employing a number of different metals, whereby different actions take place when the battery is applied to the human body, the various metals being properly supported upon a body or disk of insulation and being preferably composed or formed in the shape of a circular disk.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the in 'vention.
In the drawings-Figure 1 is a front elevation of the complete battery. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a circular disk of insulation material, preferably hard rubber or guttapercha, the same having formed upon one face thereof, the two circumferential recesses 2 and 3, and the central aperture 4. A plurality of equally spaced apertures 5 are formed through the body of the disk.
Seated within the annular recess or depression 2 is a ring 6 composed of a zinc composition, said ring being held properly in place by means of the copper eyelets 7 which are disposed through the openings 5 and are beaded upon their respective outer ends so as to maintain the zinc composition ring 6 in place. Two rings 8 and 9 are disposed within the recess 3 of the disk 1, the larger or outer ring 8 being composed of silver while the inner ring is composed Specification of Letters Patent.

of copper, the aperture 4 of the disk being filled with a plug or button 10, which is composed of zinc composition and is provided with the pocket or socket 11 upon the face adjacent to the recessed portion of the disk 1 for the reception of the button 12 of gold.
The present battery is to be used in a similar manner to other voltaic body batteries, it being the purpose of the present invention to carry in the insulation disk four different metals, as set forth. Thus, these different metals are so constructed and arranged as to produce the desired number and different currents of electricity when the present device is applied to the flesh of a person.
By incasing the metals in a disk of insulation as herein set forth, such insulation being of such a material as to permit of the washing and sterilizing of the battery, it is evident that a durable and sanitary device of this character is provided.
\Vhat is claimed is:
1. A voltaic body battery, including a disk of insulation having a central aperture and a plurality of concentric recesses in one face thereof, a ring of zinc composition disposed in the outer recess, a zinc button disposed in the central aperture, and a plurality of rings of different metals disposed in the inner recess of the disk and about the inner zinc composition.
2. A voltaic body battery, including a disk of insulation. having a central aperture and a plurality of concentric recesses in one face thereof, a ring of zinc composition disposed in the outer recess, a zinc button disposed in the central aperture, a plurality of rings of different metals disposed in the inner recess of the disk and about the inner zinc composition, said zinc button having a concentric socket in the face adjacent the metal rings, and a filling of a dense metal in said socket.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiiXed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
