UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH D. FARKAS, OF BROOKLYN,-NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO 3'. J. BEYERLE MFG. CO.,
OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, A FIRM.
DIAPER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 30, 1915.
' Application filed July 23, 1914. Serial No. 852,698.
and more particularly to diapers.
It has for an object to provide an improved means for including a ply of waterproof material therein.
A further object of this invention is an improved means'for securing the ply and waterproof material therein.
Further objects will be apparent from the following specification, appended claim and drawings in which' Figure 1 is a plan view of a diaper constructed in accordance with this invention and Fig. 2 is a perspective View thereof with parts broken away.
Referring to the drawings, 10 and 11 indicate the plies of material of which the diaper is made and these plies of material are secured to one another about the majorportions ofthe edges as indicated as by stitch-' ing passing through a tape 12 which is folded over the meeting edges of said plies of material. The interval between the ends of the tape 12 is left free from stitching to provide an opening permitting ac cess between the plies of material 10 and 11.
A ply of rubberized fabric or other waterproof material 13 which is cut to triangular configuration to conform the general out lines of the plies of matter 10 and 11 may be inserted through the opening, between these plies of material as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1.
- This article is applied in the usual manner when the points of the triangular formation may be secured by the usual formof safety pin while the safety pin 14:, necessaryn supporting the back of the garment also holds the waterproof material in place.
The drawings are submitted for illustrative purposes only and this invention is.
not restricted to the limited form shown as modifications may be made within the scope of this invention.
Having thus described my invention I claim:
In a garment of the class described, two triangular plies of fabric stitched together about their short sides and along the long sides for a short distance from each end,
a ply of waterproof material of a size equal to the interior of the pocket formed by the stitching, between the outer plies offabric,
and the ends of said ply of water proof material being retained in the corners formed by the stitching along the long edge.
In testimony whereof'I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH D. FARKAS.
