APPLICATION FILED JAN. 13. 1915.
1,155 5Q6. Patented Oct. 5, 1915.
WITNESSES COLUMBIA PLANOGRAPH CO" WBHINGTON, D. C.
MIHISUKA OSAKI, OF SAN QUENTIN, CALIFORNIA.
Application filed January 13, 1915.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, MIHISUKA OSAKI, a subject of Japan, residing at San Quentin, county of Marin, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Supporters; and I do declare the following to be a clear, full, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this application.
This invention relates to improvements in an appliance to be used to hold the shoe firmly to the foot so that there will be no slipping in the heel and will thereby keep the foot from becoming sore, as well as eliminating much of the wear upon the stockings. It will also keep the shoe from losing its shape and will help to lengthen the usefulness of the shoe.
My improved invention is also designed for persons having weak ankles, as the supporter will not only make the ankle stronger, but will at the same time prevent it from turning, thus avoiding possible injury to the wearer.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects, I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of the parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim.
On the drawings, similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views.
Figure 1 shows the device as applied to the shoe. Fig. 2 is a view showing the main ankle strap member. Fig. 3 shows one of the clamping members detached. F 4 shows the transverse metal member.
Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the main leather strap member upon one extremity of which I provide a buckle 2 and the other end 3 is adapt- Specification of Letters Patent.

ed to engage the said buckle 2 by means of a series of holes 4, the same being provided to allow a proper adjustment of the strap to the ankle of the wearer.
Integral with the strap 1 and projecting downwardly therefrom at two equally spaced points from each end thereof, I provide the ear pieces 5 to which are fastened light metal strap containers 6, each of which is held in the desired position adjacent the ear piece 5 by means of metal washer clamps 7 and 8 having a central orifice 9 adapted to receive a rivet 10.
To each of the metal plates 6 are fastened short straps 11 supplied with a series of holes 12 adapted toengage a buckle 13 provided upon each of the upturned ends 14 of a light metal plate 15 which is of a suflicient width to fit across the bottom of a shoe just forward of the heel thereof.
About midway of the upturned ends 14 I provide an inwardly projecting lug 16 which is adapted to fit into the space just above the sole of the shoe and hold the described plate 15 in its normal position.
The straps 11 being adjustable in the buckles 13 provide an adequate means of vertical adjustment and the strap end 3 being adjustable in the buckle 2 will allow any necessary take-up in the encircling ankle strap member 4.
From the foregoing description it will readily be seen that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the objects of the invention as set forth herein.
While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice, such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention, as defined by the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is cent the breast of the heel, such member In testimony whereof I afiix my signature having 1gllpturned ends and inwardly proi in presence of two Witnesses. jecting anges, the latter being constructec and arranged to overlie the upper edge of MIHISUKA OSAKI' 5 the sole, and means for connecting the said Vitnesses:
