IMPROVEMENT IN GLOVE-FASTENERS.

Speci-cation forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,530, dated August 1, 1871.

To all Lwho-m it may concern:

Be it known that I, MONROE B. FooTE, of Northanipton, in the county of Hampshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Im proved Glove-Fastener; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which Will en able others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this speciicat-ion.

This invention relates to a neT and improved fastener for gloves, mittens, and the like, applicable also for slices and other articles. The invention consists in a metal or other disk, with two eccentric grooves or slots extending from opposite points near the periphery to points near the center, in such wa5 as to draw studs attached to the parts of the glove or other article to be fastened one toward the other and hold them when turned in one direc-tion, and push the-1n in. the opposite direction when turned the other Way. The disk is made detachable from one of the studs for opening the parts more Widely when relieved of the strain by the turning of it.

Figure 1 is a plan view of the fastening apparatus and part of a glove showing the position when unfastened. Fig. 2 is asimilar view showing the position when fastened, and Fig. 3 is a section of Fig. 2 on the line a: w.

A B represent the tivo parts of the glove to be fastened. C is the disk, and E the studs fastened to the glove. The said disk is provided with an eccentric slot, F, for each of the studs, one being opposite the other diainetrica-lly, and each having one of the studs passing through it, one being fitted so that the disk cannot be detached from it, While the other is to be connected and disconnected by means of the enlargement G at the outer end of the slot. The disk is to be of such size that when the studs are forced to the outer ends of the slots the strain will be so relieved that it can be read-ily detached from one of the studs or attached again, but when turned around and the studs forced to the center it Will strain the parts up tight. The ends a. of the slots are extended slightly beyond the points nearest the center of the disk, so that when the disk is in the position indicated in Fig. 2 the studs must be brought toward each other slightly before they can be released, which prevents their Working loose.

Having thus described my invention, l claim as Vnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A fastening for gloves and other articles, consisting of the disk G and studs E, said disk having the eccentric slots F arranged as described, and the studs being attached to the glove or other article, all substantially as specified.
