TRAIN-CHECK HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. '7, 1916.
Application filed March 5, 1914. Serial no. 822,722.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALFRED L. FRAIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVellsville, in the county of Columbiana, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Train-Check Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to'be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains, to make and use the same.
My invention relates to train check and ticket holdersof the type which are adapted to be used in connection with the seats of railroad trains.
' The principal object of my invention is 'to provide improved means to retain a train check so that it will be displayed sufiiciently for identification at all times.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device as applied to the back of a seat. Fig. 2 is a transverse section through the seat back and the device. Fig. 3 is a view showing the roller supporting frame. Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4.4 of Fig. 3.
In carrying out theobjects of this invention there is provided a wedge shaped casing composed of the triangular end pieces 10 and rectangular side pieces 11. This casing is adapted to fit in a suitable recess in a position convenient to the traveler, as for instance in a recess formed in the seat back 12. the seat may be used for this purpose. Covering the recess and holding the casing therein is a cover plate 13 provided with ears 14 for the reception of fastening screws 15. Mounted within the casing is a roller frame 16 and secured in this frame by pivot It will be obvious that other parts of.
screws 17 is a pair of rollers 18 preferably made of rubber. These rollers may either be made of suflicient size to contact or may be positioned so that a very slight space exists between them. The frame 16 is held in position by suitable screws- 19 and the cover plate is provided with a slotted portion 20 so that a ticket 21 may be inserted between the rollers 18.
' In use the train check or ticket is simply pushed down between the rollers, the resiliency of the rollers holding the check against accidental displacement. There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and of the character specified.
It will be obvious that many minor changes may be made in the form and construction of this invention without departing from the material principles thereof. It is not therefore desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is wished to include all such as come properly within the scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is
A train check holder comprising a casing open at one end and having a lateral flange surrounding its open end whereby said casing may be secured in a socketed support, a frame secured within the casing and said flange being parallel to a plane passing over the upper surface of the frame, and a pair of elastic rollers having a fixed journal in opposite sides of the frame and having the adjacent portions of their peripheries spaced apart a relatively small distance whereby said rollers will exert pressure on a train check forced therebetween. I
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in the presencev of two witnesses.
ALFRED L. FRAIL.
