INTERLEAVED CONTAINER AND DISPENSER.
Application filed March 7, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX M. Conn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Piedmont, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Interleaved Pa er Containers and Dispensers, of which the ollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to a container and dispensing device for interleaved toilet paper, paper towels or the like.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, practical container for interleaved or stacked paper articles, such as paper towels and toilet paper, which container is easily attached to the wall or other support and in addition to having invisible locking means, is constructed and arranged to be readily opened to receive and hold a stack of suitably folded towels or toilet paper and when closed will present a display window which will serve both as a removable advertising card, and as a means to determine the depletion of the contents of the container More particularly this display feature embraces a pocket on one of the movable parts of the container in which a specially made card, as hereinafter described, may be inserted.
Having reference to the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the container.
Fig. 2 is a similar view partly broken awa Fig. 3 is a central, vertical section through the container.
Fig. 4 is a cross section on line M, Fig. 3.
The container, which is preferably made of metal, consists of two principal parts, a back and bottom stationary section A, with angular sides 2, and a front movable section B, open at the bottom and having closed top and sides 3-4; section B being pivoted to section A at 5.
The horizontal bottom portion of section A is slotted. at 6 to permit the withdrawal of the sheets singly from the container. A suitable invisible locking means C forming no part of the present invention but described and claimed in the companion case, of one Ellis D. Miller filed simultaneously herewith, serves to maintaimthe sections in interlocked relation and prevent the unauthorized removal oi paper therefrom,
f "Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug, 7, rear Serial No. 82,581.
The particular construction of the twopart container as thus described forms one feature of the invention, While the other feature resides in the provisionof an advertising name plate and display opening in conjunction With the front section B;
Formed in the front face of the casing near the lower end is an opening 7 of sufiicient size to render visible the business card of the one to whom trade attention is to be directed. Secured on the inner side of the casing and around the opening 7 is a frame or holder for the purpose of supporting a window 8, constructed of any transparent material, such as glass, celluloid or the like, said window and its frame forming a pocket open at the top to receive a name-plate or card 9 on which may be printed or otherwise displayed, the name of the owner, distributing agent, the manufacturer or any other data desired.
' The card or plate may have a vertically disposed oblong opening 10 through which the contents of the interior of the container may be viewed to determine when the container needs replenishing, and to also provide means for permitting easy removal of the card.
The transparency 8 being placed in front of the perforated card or plate 9, forms a closure for the openings 71 O, and also protects the nameplate or card from dust or injury, and at the same time permits the interior to be viewed through the opening 10 formed in the plate or card. The amount of paper towels or like articles contained by the dispenser may thus be determined at all times without opening the pivotally mounted cover section.
The plate together with the display opening 7 in which it is mounted not only forms an ornamental feature for the casing, but at the same time permits any data to be applied, such as instructions for the operation of the dispenser or the name of the owner or agent from which new material may be secured or bought to refill the dispenser. In fact it permits any advertising matter or the name of any agent to be added to a box after it has been assembled and sent. out of the factory, thereby doing away with the need of separate dies for stamping and enables the manufacturer to find a wide and attractive field for active and progressive agents who desire to attract attention to themselves rather than to the original man;
ufacturer of the facture, or of the paper contents which the fixture dispenses.
The. materials and finish of the several parts ofthe device may otherwise be such as the judgment and experience of the manufacturer' may dictate.
I wish it understood that various changes in form, proportion and minor details of construction maybe resorted to within the scope of the appended claim, and that I do.
not wish to limit myself to the specific design and construction here shown.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by-Letters Pat'- ent isj A container comprising separable sections,

of the sections having an opening in the; front wall thereof, a plate having. a central.
