DISPLAY-CABINET.
Application filed August 2,
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. M11 1 residing at 212 Randal Ave, Trenton, in the county of Mercer and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Cabinets, .of whichthe following is a specification, V
i This invention is an improved display cabinet for use as a china closet and for other analogous uses, the'object of the invention being to provide an improved cabinet of this class which consists of a supporting base and a body detachably and revolubly mounted on the base and which body co nprises a pair of vertically divided members or halves, hinged together at one side and provided with means at the opposite side for detachably securing said device or members together, so that, when the body has been removed from the base and one half or member of the body is opened out from and extended in line with the other, the cabinet can be readily carried through a door way, or passage of restricted widtl The invention consists in the features of construction, combination, and arrangement of devices, hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a display cabinet constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view of the same showing the members of the body in normal position in full lines and one member opened outwardly and arranged in line with the other in dotted lines.
Fig. 4 is an elevation of the same, partly in section and on a plane at right angles to that of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a detail sectional view, showing one of the means for detachably securing the body members together at one side.
Fig. 6 is a similar view showing one of the hinges for connecting the body members together at the opposite side.
The base 1 is here shown as comprising a pair of cross bars 2 provided at their outer ends with legs 3. The legs are preferably rovided with casters 1. On the upper side of the base is secured a circular track memher 5 and on the center of the base at its Specification of Letters Patent.

upper side is secured a circular hub member or plate 6.
The body 7 of the cabinet or closet is here shown ashexagonal and comprises a pair of halves or members 8, 9, each of which has a hinged and glazed door 10, in each of its walls. The member 8 has a bottom frame 11, a bottom 12, a top frame 13 and a top 14. The member 9 has a bottom framelo,
av bottom 16, a top frame 17, and a top 18.
The member 8 also has a back wall 19 at its lnner side and thesaid back wall forms a partition between the two members. The
members are also shown as respectively provided with shelves 20, 21, and a mirror 22 may also be provided in the back or partition wall.
An upper track member 23 is also provided which is arranged above the track member 5, said track members or rings having annular ball races 21 in their opposing sides and in which bearing balls 25 are mounted. An upper hub member 26 is also provided which bears on the hub member 6, said hub members also having annular ball races 27 in their opposing sides and bearing balls 28 being mounted in said races. The body is secured on the base by a bolt 29 which passes through the center of the base and through openings in the hub plates, bottom frames and bottoms of the body members. An opening 30 is provided in the bottom center of the partition wall 19 to afford access to the bolt and enable the nut 31 thereon to be removed and replaced as required, when the parts of the cabinet are assembled and disassembled.
The body members of the cabinet are connected together at one side by hinges 32 and are detachably connected together at the op posite sides by any suitable means, hinged jointed hasps 33 being here shown for this purpose, each having a member 34 secured by screws to the body member 9 and a member 35 to bear on the body member 8 and provided with a slot 36 for engagement by a winged nut 37 on a bolt 38. Any suitable means may be employed within the scope of my invention for detachably securing the body members together at one side.
The member 9 may be opened from the member 8 and swung to a position in line therewith as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 3 to reduce the width of the body and enable the same to be readily carried through a narrow door sflay or "a restricted passage, the body having been first removed from the base, as Will be understood.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection With the accompanying "drawings, the advantages of construction, andof the method of operation will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates, and While I have descri ed the p incip iop ra i n 0f d vice together with the device which I fnow consi er o. he the beast embo men h I de , "chan es ma' be"'nj 1a':de When desired as are b e e within the scope 9f the apfien'dedclaim.
