E. .w. REIF.

Patented J an. 8, 1918.

Application filed March 2,

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ELLEN WV. REIF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lindenwold, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements in toys, and has for its object to provide a device of this character which will be instructive and amusing.

A further object of the invention is to provide a toy consisting of a number of different parts, which may be placed together in different ways to construct a number of different forms.

Another object of the invention is to provide a toy consisting of a plurality of ditferent parts which may be arranged to produce different designs, the principal parts being the uprights or supports and the chutes which when placed together, form a decline, incline or track, so that a marble or ball placed thereon will follow the same, regardless of the position of the different chutes, so long as the momentum of the marble is suilicient to carry it to its destination.

\Vith these ends in view, my invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claim.

other suitable and well known manner fastened to said bases.

The uprights or supports 3 may be of any desirable cross section, and these are each provided with a number of transverse or horizontal holes 5 passing entirely therethrough. In any of the holes of each pair of coacting uprights or supports is inserted a cross rod pin or nail G. The cross rods or pins 6 may be arranged in different positions, so that the chutes 7 may rest thereon to form a track, and the supports may be arranged in a horizontal, inclined or declined position, or they may be arranged in the shape of an S, in circles or zig-zag fashion, so that a marble placed at the highest point will follow the different chutes from one end of the track to the other.

If found desirable, the chutes or tracks may decline as shown in Fig. l, and then another cross rod placed in each set of supports, and another set of chutes or tracks arranged to incline, so that a marble or ball running down the first set of chutes will fall off the end thereof, and on to the next lower set, over which it will traverse in thesame manner.

Each of the chutes or tracks comprise a bottom wall 8 and a pair of upturned flanges 9, the latter diverging from one end to the other, so that one end of the chute is of less width than the other, permitting the smaller end of one chute or track to be placed in 1 heel]: gleam?tmfiraoaaatirgn a: rate emttmala. lLUlt Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new and useful, 1s-

A toy consisting of a plurality of base members, each having a pair of sockets there- 5 in, uprights mounted in said sockets, said uprights having horizontal or transverse holes therethrough, cross rods passing through said holes, and chutes ada ted to be supported by said cross rods for orming 10. a track for a marble, each chute consisting of a bottom Wall having projections formed at each end thereof, and upwardly projecting flanges, the latter diverging from one end of the chute to the other, whereby the small end of one chute may set in the larger end of the coacting chute.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto aflixed my signature.
