Mrrc a citizen of the -llnited States, residing at Burlington, in the county of Chittenden and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sewing-Cabinets, of which the following is a specitication, reference being had therein to the accompanyingl drawing.

My invention relates to improvements in sewing cabinets.v

rlFhe object of my invention is to provide a. sewing cabinet adapted to hold the sewing basket, spools, patterns, needles and all necessary paraphernalia when sewing,

Another object of my invention is to provide a cabinet of this character having a number of drawers to receive the sewing and so arrange them that. access thereto may be readily had and also providing a vertically movable pedestal upon the top of the cabinet on which one or more spools of thread can be placed and whereby the thread can be readily unwound therefrom and the pedestal can be lowered within the cabinet when not in use.

A further object of my invention is to so design my cabinet that it is not necessary to open it entirely to gain access to articles commonly used for ordinary sewing. For this latter purpose it is sufficient to raise section 29, and to open drawer fl.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a cabinet of this character having certain details of structure and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth.

Referring now to the drawings, l represents the main body portion of my improved cabinet which is preferably made of a rectangular form and supported by the usual legs 2 all of which is well understood and needs no further description. Sliding on the partition 8 is a drawer 10 which is of a depth considerably less than -that of the drawer 4 and when in its inward position, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing,

has its front edge in a vertical alinement with the vertical partition 11. This verticalv partition, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing, is a considerable distance from the front of the cabinet and at its lower end is provided with a' horizontal partition 12 forming the pocket or compartment 13 designed to receive the `usual work-basket 14. 'llhe upper end of the compartment is open when the cover to the cabinet is thrown upwardly as shown in Fig. 2 ofthe drawing. Above the drawer 10 is a horizontal partition 15 upon which slides the drawer 16 provided with suitable pockets for spools which is of a depth to extend outwardly in a vertical alinement with the partition 11. Supported by a bracket 22 carried by the lower end of the vertical partition 11 is a tube 23 having a set-'screw 24 extending therethrough, and vertically adjustable in said' tube is a rod 25 which extends upwardly through the bar 19 and when adjustedy upwardly, as shown in Fig. 1 of' the drawing, forms a support for one or more spools. The rear end of the cabinet is provided with a bar 26 to which is hinged I the cover 27. This cover as shown, is formed of two sections 28 andv 29 hinged together at 30. The lower face of the section 28 is provided with a series of straps31 which are adapted to hold a number of patterns and the like againstf the lower face of the lcover and likewise the section 29 is provided with a spring pressed bar 32 which is adapted to hold the packages of needles.
