To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ZENOPHILE BISAILLON, a subject of the King of Great Britain,- residing at Laprairie, in the county of Laprairie and Province of Quebec, Dominion of Canada, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Keyless Locks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
For full comprehension, however, of my invention reference must be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification in which similar reference characters indicate the same parts, and wherein:
Figure 1 illustrates in side elevation, the invention applied to a railway car or ware-- house door, the door proper being shown in the act of being opened, and with the parts indicated by dotted lines positioned ready for locking and locked respectively; and
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the vibratory member.

tively connected to the locking device and requiring a plurality of operations before the locking devices are detached.
The door casing is indicated at Z) and a sliding door at 0, one of the locking devices is of course carried by the door and the device with which it engages by the door frame, eachbeing mounted on an independent casing indicated at c and f respectively.
Within the casing upon the door, is mounted on a pivot pin 9, a lever it having a hook i at one end, which projects through one end of the casing and the opposit-e end is in the form of an open frame is provided with an internal quadrantal rack m concentric with the pivot g.
This is the locking lever proper and it is operated to move intermittently in 'a plu rality of steps by means to be presently described, the hook end thereof engaging a rigid lug n mounted within the casing upon thedoor frame.
Within this last mentioned casing there is also mounted a lever 0 fulcrumed on a fixed pin [2 and having a plunger g pivoted thereto by a hinge joint 7, this plunger projecting through the end of its casing toward the door and being adapted to bear upon the casing 011 the latter and afford means whereby through the lever 0 the op erator may displace the door from locked position when the locking devices are disengaged. This lever 0 also has a lateral extension 8 adapted to come in contact with the contiguous side of the casing and retain the lever in vertical position.
Atumbler t-is operated by'the 'leverh and for this purpose is formed with an arm at with upward curved end '0, such arm resting upon the top of the hook 2'; the lower end of the tumbler having a downwardly turned angular arm w projecting into an aperture w on a tongue y rigidly mounted upon the casing e.
The means for operating the lever 7L consists of a vibratory lever 52, fulcrumed upon a rigid pin 3 mounted on the casing. On this pin 3 is rotatively mounted a spur pinion 4: having formed integrally therewith a ratchet-wheel 5, the pinion intermeshing with the quadrantal rack m and the ratchetwheel overlapping the rack and being engaged by a pawl 6. This pawl is formed on the inner end of a lever 7 held away from the lever 2 by a spring 30 and having a forked member 9 through which it is fulcrumed as at 8 to the lever 2, an upright arm 10 being carried by a lateralextension' 12 from the forked portion and having a frame 18 curved concentrically to the fulcrumed pin 3 and provided with a series of teeth 14:, preferably three in number. A rigid finger 15 is carried by this lever 7 and formed integrally therewith, its purpose being to afford a covering for the open ing in the casing which the oscillatory movement of the lever 2 necessitates. The finger 15 is extended downwardly as at 32, the lower end whereof is formed with a sto 33,
limiting the upward movement of the lever 7 relatively to the lever 2.
Operation.

7 this taking place upon each downward stroke of lever 2, thus requiring about 30 vibrations to feed the rack to its lowermost position. Simultaneously the hook end of the lever it will be raised until it is disengaged from the lug-n and the ttunbler t is lifted with it and its arm to disengagedfrom the aperture 00. Immediately the parts assume this position, the pull exerted by the operator on. lever 0 causes the plunger 9 to push against casing e and open the door sufiiciently to place the hook '5 over lug n and the engaging arm to over'the solid end of tongue y, thuspreventing the reengaging of these locking devices. The door is then free to be slid open. V
I do not herein claim the alarm as such will form the subject-matter of an application to be subsequently filed.
'I/Vhat I claim is as follows 1. In a lockfor sliding doors the combination with inter-engaging locking devices of a vibratory member operatively connected to one of the locking devices, and means intermediate of the member and locking device and requiring a plurality of vibrations of the vibratory member to disengage the locking devices.
2. In a lock for sliding doors thecombination with inter-engaging locking devices; of means for disengaging the said devices, said means consisting of a manually-operated vibratory lever, a pinion mounted upon one end of said lever, a rack upon one of said devices and intermeshing with the pinion and means constructed and arranged to prevent rotation of the pinion relatively to the rack when the lever is moved in one direction and to permit rotation of the pinion when the lever is moved inthe opposite direction. r
3. In a lock for sliding doors, the combination with inter-engaging locking devices 'consistlng of a fixed device and a hook fulcrumed substantially midway its length and having a rack on one end thereof; of means for disengaging the said devices, said means consisting of a manually operated vibratory lever having a forked end, a pinion pivotally mounted within. the forked end and having a ratchet wheel formedintegrally therewith, said pinion intermeshing wlth the rack and a pawl carried by sa d 4 lever and constructed and arranged'to engage the ratchet wheelfor the purpose of preventing rotation of the pinion relatively to the rack when the lever is moved in one direction and to permit rotation of the pin ion when the lever is moved in the opposite direction. v

In a keyless lock comprlslng a relative stationary part and a part movable with one Y member of the structure tobe locked, a fixed device within the stationary part, a hook within the movable part and adapted to engage the fiXed device, a manually operated member within themovable part, means operatively connecting the manually operated member to the hook and translating the motion of the manually operated memberinto a motion effecting the disengaging of the hook from the fixed device and supplemental locking means operated by the hook, which supplemental locking means consists of a tongueprojecting from the movable part having an aperture,.andfla tumbler within the stationary part to engage the aperture, such tumbler'having a part'engaged by the hook for the purpose set;forth.
