The object of this invention relates to the construction of a window-curtain fastening device for holding and locking the curtain in any desired position. The nature thereof consists in the arrangement in a curtain-hanger of a vibrating spring-bearing for the spindle of the grooved curtain-pulley, said pulley having a series of notches in its periphery in which engages a projecting lug of the hanger, aswill hereinafter more fully appear.
To enable those herein skilled to make and use my said improvement, I will now more fully describe the same, referring to the anhearing A is provided with a transverse horizontal hole, a, in which the spindle of the grooved pulley c is inserted. The pulley c is secured to the curtain-roller in the usual man- Furthermore, the.
ner, and is provided with a series of notches, c, in its periphery, which engage with the transverse luga of the hanger to form a lock, and prevent any movement of the curtain. A duplicate lug, a, forms part of lug a, so as to allow the hanger to be used on either side of the window. The lugs a? a are arranged so as to project over the grooves of the pulley O and prevent the cord becoming disengaged from the grooved pulley, as, in the ordinary application of my improvedv device, no adjust;
able rack-roller will be required at the bottom of the window.
The operation of the parts will be as follows: The operator, by pulling on the cord, withdraws the pulley G out of engagement with the lug a, and the curtain can then be raised or lowered to any desired position, and as soon as the operator releases the cord the weight of the curtain, in connection with the spring B, returns the parts to a lock.
- Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim is-- The arrangement of a grooved pulley, C, having notches 0, in combination with a hanger, A, formed with slidesa and lugs a a and provided with adjustable bearing A, spring B, lugs b I), as and for the-purpose set forth.
In testimony of said invention I have hereunto set my hand.
