AMELIA :r. 'nn vrs, or o' mm us, EORGIA;

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AMELIA J. ENNIs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Muscogee and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sadiron-Holders for Fireplaces; and I. do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will.
enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use'the same. i
This invention relates to sad iron holders and more particularly to sad iron holders for open fire places and the primary object of the invention is the provision of means for supporting an iron or irons over an open fire place, so that the same may be readily heated. 7
Another object of the invention is the provision of a supporting frame adapted to hook over the grate bars of a grate for supporting sad irons, kitchen utensils or any other article that is desired to be heated, so that the same can be heated by the fire in an open fire place. I
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for adjusting the frame, so that the same can readily accommodate irons or other articles of various sizes.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a sad iron holder of the above character which is durable and eflicient in use, simple and inexpensive to manufacture and can be placed upon the market at a reasonable price.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved device applied to a grate,
Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the improved sad iron holder, and
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the improved sad iron holder.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar'reference numerals designate corresponding parts, throughout the several views, the numeral 1 generally indicates the improved sad iron holder which includes a pair of spaced supporting arms 2 and the spacing strap 3. The spaced supportin arms 2 are preferably formed of angle lI'OII and includethe horizontal porsurface of the plate 11 so as to form a Specification of Letters' -Patent." g fPaite Ijltedi Ap12'5 1921. Application filed May 31, anafseaa No. sodsie. I
holding the straps to the arms 2 and thus hold the same in spaced relation.- By placing theremovalole fastening elements 9 in the variousapertures 8, the distance between the arms 2 can be readily varied so that the same can be adjusted for larger or smaller i irons or other articles. 7
A substantially flat plate 11 is adapted to be supported on the upper surfaces of the horizontal portions 4 of the arms 3 and the 7 same is adapted to receive the sad irons or other articles to be heated. An angle iron 12 is secured tojthe under surface of the plate and the same extends the whole Width of the same. ity of apertures 13 formed therein which receives the horizontal portions 4 of the arms 2 for holding the plate 11 in position on the arms. The arms 2 can be positioned in any one of the apertures 13 according to the adjustment of the same and it can be readily seen that a larger or smaller plate can be substituted for the plate 11. A handle 14 is secured on the front edge of the plate 11 at the central portion thereof, so
that the plate can be readilyremoved from the arms 2, when it is not desired to use the same. v The inner end'of the handle is bifurcated as .at 15 so as to engage the upper and lower connection with the plate.
In practice, I have found that the form The angle iron 12 has a plural- V of my invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and referred to in the above description, as the preferred embodiment, as the most efficient and practical; yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize the fact that various minor changes in details of construction,
proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention, as set forth.
What is claimed is thereofand provided with openings adapted An iron holder comprising arms having to receive the lower end portion of the arms. 10 angularly disposed end portions and proV-id- In testimony whereof I aflix my signature ed at one end with hooks, a bar adjustably in presence of two witnesses.
5 connected with the lower end portions of the a i MRS. AMELIA J. ENNIS. arms, a platform, a handle attached to the 'Witnesses: 7 platform, a strip applied to the underside of LAURENCE WILLIAMS, the platform and traversing the length NICKSON JENKINS.
