To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, PETAR DELIOH, a subject of the King of Servia, residing at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pumps, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to pumps and has special reference to a combination pump and receptacle used in the art of dispensing beverages.

The principal object is to produce a simple portable device of this character which may be used in the conveying of comparatively small portions of a beverage from a larger container to a place of consumption.

Another object is to provide a combination device of this character which may be used as a carrying receptacle for beverages in traveling from place to place.

Other objects and advantages of the peculiar construction will appearin the further description of the invention.

Referring to the accompanying drawings forming part of this application and in which like reference characters indicate like parts:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the combination receptacle and pump.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical sectional view through the upper end of the device, and

Fig. 3 is a fragmental portion of one lower corner thereof illustrating a modification therein.

1 represents a substantially rectangularly shaped receptacle of a convenient side to be carried in the hand, it being provided with a vertically disposed glass covered slot 2 therein for determining the condition of the interior of the receptacle.

In the center of the upper end of the receptacle is an upwardly extending thimble or nipple 3 having a portion of the upper outer end thereof cut-away forming an annular shoulder 4 thereabout and onto which nipple is fitted the large rubber bulb 5 which is designed to be expanded and contracted for the purpose of filling the interior of the receptacle 1 by suction from another vessel.

Adjacent the nipple 3 and securely fixed to the upper end of the receptacle 1 is an upwardly projecting support or bracket 6,

it preferably being formed of two spaced flat pieces of metal and somewhat heartshaped in form, the upper end of which is provided with spaced lugs 7 in which the handle 8 is pivotally attached as at 9. The handle 8, intermediate of its ends, is also pivotally attached as at 10 to the upwardly extending lugs 11 securely fixed, as by a suitable rivet or bolt 12, to the upper cen tral portion of the bulb 5, there being suitable washers 13 and 14- provided both externally and internally of the bulb to prevent excessive wearing of same when the pump handle is operated for contracting and expanding the bulb.

To the same point of contact at the upper end of the bulb 5 is attached an expansive spiral spring 15 which extends the full length of the bulb vertically and is wound about as at 16 the upper reduced end of the nipple 3, which results in its forcibly impinging against the shoulder. 1. This spring is for the purpose of assisting the bulb in maintaining its fully expanded position.

Adjacent one edge of the upper end of the receptacle 1 is attached a spigot valve head 1? into which the angularly shaped spigot valve 18 is rotatably engaged and so constructed in relation to its port 19 that when the intake or suction pipe 20 is in a depending position the port 19 will form communication with the suction pipe 20 and the interior of the receptacle 1, but when said suction pipe is turned upwardly as i11- dicated in dotted lines at 21, such communication will be closed.

A common drain or discharge cock 22 is attached to an upper corner of the receptacle substantially opposite the intake just above described and through which cock the contents of the receptacle may be poured or decanted at any time by properly elevating and tipping the receptacle.

To the end of the suction pipe 20 is shown attached a piece of rubber hose 23 for insertion within a larger liquid con aining receptacle, such as a barrel, keg or hogshead, from which it is desired to draw liquid.

This embodiment of the invention is that preferably used as a receptacle to be carried about in ones suitcase or grip during travel from place to place and which may be readily filled from a container, then the suction pipe 20 turned to upright position,

the cock 22 closed, and the receptacle safely carried within the grip or suitcase without fear of leakage or escape of the contents.

It will be understood that in the practical working of the device and due to the fact that no check valves are employed the bulb 5 must be of sufficient size that when contracted it will suck more than the capacity of the pipe 20 and hose 23 so that at each expansion of the bulb some of the liquid will be drawn into the receptacle, as it is obvious that when the bulb is contracted it will discharge what liquid may be in the suction pipe and tube, only to refill when the bulb expands.

In Fig. 3 is shown an additional pet cock 2 attached to a lower side corner of the receptacle so that in the event of the combination receptacle being used in a place where beverages are dispensed it may be placed upon a shelf or counter and glasses filled from the cock 2%.

In Fig. 1 I have shown in dotted lines at 25 how the handle may be disconnected from the bulb 5 and its position reversed in the bracket 6 from which it will depend in a convenient way for compact storage within a suitcase or traveling bag.

Having thus described my invention what Iclaim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: V

1. A combination device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a rubber bulb attached to the upper end of the receptacle and communicating with the interior thereof, a suction pipe normally communleating with the upper end of the receptacle,

and a pet cock communicating with the interior of the receptacle for the purpose described.

2. A combination device of the character described comprisinga receptacle, a rubber bulb attached to the upper end of the receptacle and communicating with the interior thereof, a suction pipe normally communicate ing with the upper end of the receptacle, a pet cock communicating with the interior of the receptacle, and a handle pivotally mounted adjacent the bulb for contracting'and expanding same, substantially as and for the purpose described.
