IMPROVEMENT IN NURSERY-GATES.l
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,677, dated August 12,1873; application filed December 30, 1872. i
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD A. TUTTLE, of Brooklyn, Kings county, and State'oiNew York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Nursery-Gates, of which the following is a specification:
The invention consists in the improvement of nursery gates, as hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A and B are two frames connected together by the thumb-screws C C in the part A, and made adjustable as to width by means of the slot D in the part B. E are vertical slots in each ofthe frames. F F are slots in the part A, and attached to B are blocks with ilanges G G, which are fitted to and slide in the slots F F, and serve to guide as well as hold the parts together. The outer edges or uprights H H of the tw() parts A B are made slightly inclined or wedge-shaped. Fitted to the uprights H H are" Wedge-shaped or inclined uprights I I. These pieces have anges J, which receive and guide' the uprights F as the latter slide up and down. The pieces II have each a dovetail slot, and the uprights E have a dovetail block each, fitted to the slot,
by means of which the slides are held to the frame. (See Fig. 2.)
When the gate is to be used it is placed in the rabbets ofthe door or window with the screws loosened, and is extended when raised from the sill, but with the slides I I resting on the sill.
