Description

A Aug. 28, 1923. 1,466,05
J. TRUBISKY VEGETABLE 1SLICER Filed March 14, 1923 ers, of which t @stranieri roten 'reinen-lire, or surmise, omo.
VEGIEKBLE @LEGER implication led Merch 1d, 19123. lerisl No. 325,013.
To all whom may concern:
Be it known that il, .loner Tunisiens, .s citizen ci United States of America, resid ing et Kipling, county of Guernsey, und State of Ohio, here invented certnin new and useful lm rovem'ents in Vegetable Sliclie following isespecification.
This invention relates to improvements in slicers, particularly vegetable Slicers, end it is the principal object of my invention to provide e Slicer in which the article to be sliced is continuously und rogressively pressed against the slicing too s.
Aiurther object oi the invention is the provision of u slicerv comprising e plurality of slicing tools allowing en adjustment und locking' in their adjusted positions.
A still further obiect of the invention is the provision .of e Slicer of this character which may be cheaply, yet dursbly constructed end attached to n, suitable support and which allows s ready removal of the sliced materiel.
These end other objects of my invention will become more fully oppsreut as the description thereof' proceeds, end will then be specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is e side view of n vegetable Slicer constructed according to the present invention.
Figure 2 is a iront View thereof.
Figure 3 is e top plan view of the Slicer.
Figure 4 is e cross-section through the slicer on line #1 -Ll of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is stop plan .view of the knife disc.
Figure 6 is e section through the seme on line (5-6 of Figure 7. y
Figure 7 is nnedgfe 'View of the 'knife disc.
A casing; l() is divided by u partition well 11 into n rear chamber 12 and s. cylindrical front chamber 13.
A lid 14 for the front chamber is hinged es at 15 to the roof 16 of the 'rear chamber,
iand e peg 17 has its heed 18 shouldered lto rest u on cover 14, while itsy shank extends into 't e casing or chember' 13 end carries vwithin the same, et its lower end, a pressure plate 19, while e strong spiral sprin .2O is wound around the shenk of peg 1 an tends normally to press plete '19 down into engegernent with e heed of cabbage resting on knife disc 21..
The disc 21 is provided with a plurality of obliquely disposed openings 22 permitting the passage of the knives or slicing tools 23, each having an upper bevelled end 24, and e lower angular arm 25 rov-ided with a threaded perforation through which e screw bolt 26 is guided, which is also passed' through one end o ii. bracket 27, secured with its other end to the underside of disc 21 es et 28. @ne end of bolt 26 carries u heed 29, while its other end is guided in a. ring socket 30 on tool 23 so es to allowan 9.6.-.
jnstnient and exchnngeof the slicing tools.-
The chamber 13 is mede accessible from the' frontby e door 31 hingedly secured to the casing at 32, et its lower end, while mova'ble cleats 33 ellow s clampingr 'of its upper end egeinst the outer-wall of chamber 13 in jects et one end over the runner 311 and carf ries e crenk 36 by ineens of which the shaft can be rotated. l
Intermediate its ends, shaft `carries a bevel gear 37 in mesh with a'bevel ear 38 at the lower end of e vertical` stub s aft 89 which carries the knife disc 21. k'
Angle irons 40 are attached with one arm tothe outer faces of the runners 34 and through their other arms festenin screws 41 are passed, by means of which t e Slicer cen be clamped to e table or other suitable support. l
The operation will be perfectly clear from the above description, after 'the slicerlhns been clamped to a support by means o f clamps 41, n heed of cabbage or other am ticle to be sliced is brought into chamber 13 through door 31 and the seme is closed by the roper operation of the cleats 33. The hee of cabbage rests between disc 21 and plate 19 and will be .pressed by the spring 2O egeinst the knives. When now crank 36 is rotated, the knives will slice `the article and the slices may be removed through openings 42 end 43 in the wells of chambers 12 Having thus described my invention'what.
l claim as new and desire to secure-by'Lctters Patent is:
A. Slicer comprising a. roteteble digo, s
plurality of inclined openings in said discj 'plurality of knives in said Openings, each o`f said knives having a lower perforated shoulder, an intermediary ring and an upper cutting edge, brackets secured to the llnder- 5 side" of said discs having perforated. arms,
and screw bolts passedthrough said perfo,- Ssuted. armsl and the perforated shoulder and ring for allowing an adjustment of the cutting edges to projet more or less above the upper face of. said disc, und means for rotating said disc.
In testimony whereof l have aixed my si gnature.
