ARTICLE OF JEWELRY.
Application filed March 19,1924. Serial No. 700,367.
This invention relates to jewelry and has more particular reference to an ear ring, breast pin or the like, wherein the same includes a liquid containing vial of any desirable shape and design and being preferably of glass, whereby a perfume may be placed therein so that the sweet and fragrant odor of the perfume may permeate from the wearer of the article without the necessity of applying the perfume directly to the clothes, which often times results in the staining of the same.
The primary object of the present-invention resides in the provision of suchan article of jewelry that may be manufactured and marketed at relatively small cost and wherein the odoriferous material or fluid" characters indicate, corresponding parts in' both of the views,
Figure 1 is a view partly in cross section and partly in elevation, of an ear ring con-, structed in accordance. with the present invention, and.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view or the present ear ring. 7
Now having particular reference to the drawing, my'novel ear ring constitutes the provision of a glass vial 5, of relatively small capacity and being preferably of hottle shape. I Positioned for a-tight fit upon the upper open end of this vial 5 is a metal sleeve or ferrule 6 that is externally screwthreaded at its upper end for the reception r plurality of. a metal ca 7 that is provided with a of re ativelysmall openings 8. This sleeve or ferrule 6 is formed upon diametrically opposite sides with inverted relatively J-shaped arms 9 -4 the free ends .of which are headed as at 1010 and preferably have close contact with the opposite sides of the vial 5. It is of course to be understood that I do not wish to be limited ewelry constructed in accordance with this invention.-
These arms 99 are preferably formed withlaterally. extending hooked portions 1l-11. upon which are hung ornamental beads 12-12 which also increase the ornamental efl'e cts of the present article and assist in agitating the fluid in the vial to aid in the vaporation thereof,
in this instance, the article of 'ewelry is specifically an ear ring and exten ing from the before mentioned arms 99 formed upon opposite sides of the sleeve or ferrule 6 are relatively fine chainisections 13-43 through which is secured desirable form of ear fastener 14. i
From the foregoing it will be apparent that I have provided a highly novel and useful form of article of jewelry and one,
that will, lbelieve meet with all of the requirements for a successful commercial use.
Minor changes may be made in the inventlon without departing from the spirit and scope of the ap ended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
In an article of jewelry, an upper open ended vial for the reception of an odoriferous material, a perforated cap for the open end of the vial, arms projecting laterally from the vial adjacentits open end, chains connected to the arms, a fastening element attached to the chains for supporting the vial, and pendants hanging from the arms and adapted to strike the vial when the same is swinging from the chains attached to the fastening elements.
