This invention relates to a seashore outfit,

-capable of use as wearing apparel, suitable for walking-on the beach or on the street, and in addition, capable of special use while on the beach, the object being to rovide a garment of this kindrwhich may be adjusted to permit a bathing suit to be put on or taken 01f at will.

Another object of the invention is to provide a garment which has generally the appearance of a shirtwaist and knickers, but which may be adjusted to present a skirt eifect and a loose waist effect so that a bathing suit may be placed on the body while wearing the garment or may be taken off while wearing the garment.

A still further object is to provide a garment which may be used while walking on the street or may be used on a beach as a dressing gown, the same being capable of completely protecting the body while placing a bathing suit on or taking a bathing suit ofi.

Referring to the accompanying drawings I by numerals, 1 indicates the knickers of a garment and 2 the shirt or waist. These members are stitched together at the waist-/ line and form one continuous garment. The shirt or waist 2 is open at the front from the neck to the waistline, and is normally held closed by suitable buttons 3. The waist or shirt 2 is of any desired appearance, as for instance, an ordinary shirt structure, either with or without pockets. The knickers 1 are of very special structure and are not open along the line 4, but have rather large openings 5 and 6 on the respective sides. said openmgs being normally held closed by suitablebuttons 7. A flap 8 is arranged adjacent each of the openings 5 and 6 and overlaps these sufliciently to protect the body so that the body cannot be seen through the openings, though the hands may be passed through the openings while manipulating an under garment. The knickers 1 are provided with a row of buttons and buttonholes 9 in each of the legs. These are arranged so that they may be buttoned up as shown in Figures 1, 3'

and 5, or they may be unbuttoned and rebuttoned as shown in Figures 2 and 4. When buttoned as shown in Figures 2 and 4, a skirt effect is produced, the front portion of the leg 10 buttoning on the front portion of the leg 11 and the rear portion of leg 10 buttoning on the rear portion of leg 11, as shown more particulagly in Figure 4. Before this can be done, however, the bands 12 and 13 are loosened by having the ends of these bands released from theirconnecting buckles.

In use, the garment is put on and adjusted to substantially the position shown in Figure 1. It will be noted that the lower part of the shirt or blouse is very full and if desired, may be even fuller than that shown in the drawing. When the parts are arranged as shown in Figure 1, a person may walk on the street or the beach as desired, as the garment will look very much like an ordin pair of knickers with a shirt. It. is, of course,

evident that the garment may be used in any desired manner, but ordinarily all of the usual clothes removed and the garment placed on the body as shown in Figure 1. After the garment has been donned, the inner pants or underwear 22 is connected together by a suitable button 23. This underwear consists principally of two pieces, namely, the rear section 24 and the front section 25, which when the button 23 is loosened, hang down as shown in Figure 6. After the garment has been put on at home, the parts will be adjusted so that button 23 will be in a buttoned position and the belt 15 will be tightened so that the general appearance will be substantially as shown in Figure 1. After the garment has been put on as just described, the person may go down to the bathing beach and walk around the beach with the garment in place.

In many congested bathing beaches, it is difficult to secure a bathhouse at any reasonable hour and, consequently, other means must be resorted to. By providing a garment as described, the garment may be donned at home and the bathing suit carried in the hand until the beach has been reached. After reaching the beach, the cuffs 12 and 13 are opened, the belt 15 is loosened and the sides 7 are unbuttoned as shown in Figure 11. After this has been done, the knickers drop down a few inches in length from the overlapping of the shirt waist, then the buttons on the respective legs 10 and 11 are unbutcarried out until the entire robe effect is pro-' toned one or two at a time and then rebuttoned as shown in Figure 2. This method is duced as shown in Figures 2 and 4. After this is finished, the hands are inserted through openings 5 and 6 and button 23 from undergarment which is attached to waistline of the knickers, is unbuttoned. The bathing suit 14 is then pulled over the feet and lower legs until it is crowded above the knees. The hands of the person putting on the bathing suit will then be inserted through the openings 5 and 6 and the bathing suit 14 moved upwardly to substantially the position shown in Figure 6. After this has been done, the stra 16 is unbuttoned from the tab 17 said tab aving a buttonhole for normally accommodating the button 18. The button 18 is then passed through the'buttonhole of the strap 19 of the bathing suit 14. This can be readily done by the hands which have been inserted through openings 5 and 6. After this has been done, one of the hands may grasp the upper end of the strap 16 and pull the bathing suit up into substantially its correct position with the strap 19 extending partly over the shoulder. Button 18 may then be removed or unbuttoned from the strap 19 and the button 20 from strap 21 may be inserted into the but-tonhole in the strap 19. The other strap having been pulled up to a position near the arm, may be readily forced over the shoulder and the bathing suit is then in position for use.

During the adjustment of the garment whenthe hands are inserted through openings 5 and 6, the flaps 8 cover these openings so that the body will be maintained covered, allowing the hands to freely operate within the garment for adjusting the underwear or the parts of the bathing suit as desired. After the bathing suit has been placed'in position as described, the garment may be removed. After bathing, it may be desired to remove the wet or moist bathing suit, and when this is the case, the garment is donned, as the buttons and the other parts were adjusted from before to produce a robe effect. After donning the garment, the buttons 3 are moved to a buttoned or fastened position and the shoulder straps of the bathing suit unbuttoned. The hands are then inserted in the sides 5 and 6 and the bathing suit is pulled downwardly and pushed down over the feet without disclosing any part of the body, and then the underwear is readjusted and button 23 rebuttoned. As soon as this has been done, the buttons 9 are readjusted to produce a knicker efiect. The knickers are then pulled up to the waistline and the buttons 7 are preferably rebuttoned for closing the openings 5 and 6, the beltds tightened and finally the straps 12 and 13 are buckled so that the garment will again appear as shown in Figure 1. The wet bathing suit may then be disposed of or carried home as desired.

What I claim is:

1. In a seashore outfit, a waist portion open at the front to the waist line, and a lower portion secured to the waist portion and having means whereby it may be formed into leg sections or into a skirt, the said lower portion having openings in the sides adjacent to the waist line, and the waist portion having secured to the center of its back a strap for detachable engagement with a part to the waist portion and having means for forming it into leg sections or a skirt, the lower portion having openings in its sides adjacent the waist line, and the waist portion having secured to the center of its back a strap having button holes, and a bathing suit having a two-part shoulder strap buttoned together and with the button of which when the parts are disconnected the said strap is adapted to be engaged to permit the bathing suit to be pulled up under the garment when the lower portion of the garment is in skirt form.
