flaving recognized the advantages and pose by this invention to provide a device for collectively and conveniently mountlng a variety of kitchen implements in an accessible position.

In carrying out this idea, a board or panel is availed of that includes various utensil supporting means such as hooks and slots which may be'positively fastened to the wall and floor of a room at any desired location, and one of the objects of this invention is to provide means for positively yet detachably positioning the holding device at any convenient place.

With the foregoing in view, a detachable connection with the wall of a room is provided at the upper portion of the device, while a spacing member is includedin the structure at the bottom thereof which may be brought to operative position forpreventing the bottom portion of the device from appreaching too close to the wall, which would cause disengagement of the fastening means at the top thereof in a manner which will be hereinafter more fully set out.

A utensil holding device made in accordance with our invention will be further characterized by its ease of manufacture, adapt ability to a wide variety of changes in its functions, and susceptibility to easy repair and replacement of parts.

Further and more detailed objects of the invention will in part become apparent and in part be hereinafter stated as the description of the invention proceeds.

For a full and complete understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a utensil holding device made in accordance with this invention.

While the preferredform of the invention is herein set forth, it is to be clearly understood that we are not to be limited tothe eX- act construction illustrated and described, because various modifications of these details may be provided in putting the invention into practisewithin the purview of the appended claim. I i I Our novel utensil holdingdevice comprises a main body portion which in the preferred embodiment of the invention is exemplified by a panel 1 that may be enclosed by suitable edglng or side pieces 2. Fastened to the top of the panel 1 in any approved fashion, is a top piece 3 having a wall engaging flange at which may be separate therefrom and at tached thereto in any suitable manner. i

The panel may be held upraised from the ground by leg members 5 appropriately fastencd to the back of the panel as by cutting away a portion of the legs as shown at 6 to provide a panel receiving portion. The legs may be fastened to the panel by adhesive, or through any other desired fastening medium. Spacing members 7 are pivoted to the legs 5 at the bottom thereof for a purpose to be here inafter and more fully described. The panel 1 and top piece 3 may be provided with any type of utensil supporting members or means that are desired. In the present instance, we have shown the top piece 3 provided with the openings 8 and elongated slots 9 which may receive certain types of utensils. We also provide a row of hooks 10 suitably spaced across the upper portion of the panel to which various implements may be hung. A second row of hooks is shown at 11, while a form of basket or containing means is provided at the lower portion of the panel designated by the reference character 18. This basket may comprise the side pieces 14 connected by slats 15. If the basket is used for draining purposes, it may h ave openings 16 at the bottom thereof through which fluid may pass. It is intended to be well within the scope of this invention to avail of any type or arrangement of fastening means on the panel and top piece as the occasion demands. The present forms are merely shown to bring out one specific illustration of our invention as it is put into practise.

The panel is adapted to be positioned at any convenient place in the kitchen or like cham her, and held in said position as long as the needs dictate, by the novel type of fastener means provided by this invention. This fastening comprises a bracket plate 17 having a keyhole opening 18 one end of which terminates in a dent or recess portion 19. The plate 17 has flanges 2O spaced therefrom at each end by legs, which are availed of for the purpose of rigidly securing the plate to a wall and at the same time space the keyhole portion of the plate from the Wall aforesaid. Any type of -fastening means may be employed such as screws 21. A headed connecting member 22 in the nature of a bolt which is positively fastened to the panel as shown at 23, projects therefrom and is adapted to have its head enter the larger portion of the keyhole opening 18 whereupon the neck of the connecting member may move through the slot so that the head engages in the recess 19. Such operations necessarily entail a downward movement of the connecting member which can be afforded only by an outward movement of the lower portion of the panel. If these operations have taken place, the spacing member 7 may be swung down so they abut against the wall whereby movement of the lower portion of the panel toward the wall is prevented, which condition prevents disengagement of the connecting member 22 F from the plate 17.

As will be apparent, this arrangement of connecting means inhibits the accidental disconnection of the panel from its location. However, should it be desired to move the same, it may be detached therefrom by first swinging the member 7 upward and then moving the lower portion of the panel toward the wall which causes upward movement of the eonnec ting member 22 in the slot 18 to the point where the head may pass through the large part of the opening.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent in the United States, is

A utensil. holding device of the class described, comprising, in combination, a main body portion, means on the body portion for supporting a variety of utensils, latch construction at the upper end of the device comprising a bracket adaptable to a wall and havinga slot therein enlarged atits upper end, a bolt secured to the body portion having a head proportioned to pass through the enla-rged part or" the slot but of a size to prevent passage thereof through the narrower portion, the bracket having a recess at the lower end of the slot for the reception of said head, members pivotally secured to the lower end of the body portion and adapted to bear against the wall for spacing the lower portion of the body member from the wall for holding the head of the bolt in said recess.
