This invention relates to'certain novelimprovements in fender constructlons for vehiclesiand has for its principal object the pro-f vision of an improved constructionxof this 5 character which will be efi'ectivein its'functioning'and'economieal inmanufacture.
The salient object of my invention is to provide a fenderwhich willhave associated therewith a fin construction that will pre-f lo vent water andthe likethrown thereagainst from passing over the, edges thereofto mar the'appearance of the vehicle with which it is associated. V v, v a
:In previous fender constructlons the fender 15 was provided with a downwardly depending lip along the outer edge thereof and when water was throwniagainstthe under-surface 'ofthe fender it wouldtend to, run to theedgeof this slip and be dispersed; outwardly there- ,zgfm in a substantially fan-shape manner.
Portions o'f this water would be pickedup by theair agitated by the. vehicle and "thlS WZtter would be blown against theb'ody of the Vehicle. Inasmuch as this water carried mud 3 and other foreign substances. the appearance of the vehicle was greatly marred when this 7 water evaporated. It'is thereforethe princia -.pal"object of my invention to: obviate the foregoing condition.
' Other ob'ects wiufapp'eaa h in ft.- o The invention consists. in the novel combi- I nation and arrangement'ofparts to bev here inafter described and-clainied-.-*
The invention will beibe'st understogafby I reference to the-accompanying drawing,
showing the preferred i'forrnof fconst ct "Fi .2 is a side eiaviiiiean'vitgaflthe vice as illustrated inoFijg. 1; and

The hood l1 terminates at its forward;
endin a downwardly depending lip portion 13. The skirt and hood 11" terminate -in a subst'antiallyfiat portion 141 whichiisintend I ed to be connected to the'r'unning board of a r videdf at theedge 0p osite that joining the vehicle as iswell understood in the art. The
foregoing constructionis of the conventional type and it is to be understood that certain modifications may be made therein to adapt the tender for use in connection. withvehicles o-f-diiierent design without departing from the purview of my invention.
improvement in fender construction consists in providing a plurality of fins generi'cally indicated by 15 which are disposed on the under side of the hood ll and which ex tend. longitudinally thereof The fins 15 are arranged to have the wider end portion 16 thereof disposedadjacent the lip 13 while the l 3 therelatively fiat portions 14 'Thei nterme diate portionsof the fins 15 are arranged to. gradually decrease in height; from the wider end portion 16 to the 'narrowerend'portion 17 Theffins'l'5 are arranged to extend radieif ally with respect .to the tire with which the fender is associated. r
